There is also the GS phantasm and Sword leap clone, that doesn’t spawn if cast instantly after swaping weapon, but go on full cooldown.
According to Supcutie’s guide, this is not an out of range issue. It is a bug.
Here is the video from his guide.

Aahaaa… So that wasn’t my imagination. I use GS/Sw+F against mobs very often in a specific pattern: GS 4 → GS 2 → GS 3 → swap → Sw 3 + Sw 3 → Sw 2, and very often it fails at the stage of Sw 3 + Sw 3. It means this swap + Leap bug was the reason it fails.

A little thing: For some reason, you cannot break the windows in battle of Khylo with the GS auto-attack. I know it is a minor thing, but if your weapon swap and GS3 is on cooldown you can’t get out that way.

Seems like a minor bug, so I don’t think it’s worth including in the list unless there is a specific pattern which triggers more often.

It is about collecting them in one place. It makes it a lot easier for devs to follow up.

This. Once you gather it in one place, it becomes pretty evident just HOW neglected the class is.

Some cry, “Mesmers need LOVE!” Well, we can live without love, but at least give us respect.

  • Temporal Curtain is too short (most projectiles will fly over the curtain) and is unreliable (some of the ground projectiles do not reflect, even at point-blank range).
  • Warden will continue reflecting even past its whirl animation.

Phantasms will NOT attack a pet/mob that has been summoned by an enemy mob.

Various skills will go on cooldown after you swap them in.

Phantasmal Haste does not affect Spear, Greatswords, Sword, and Focus phantasms.

  • Absolutely same attack rate both with and without the trait.

Thanks, didn’t know about the summoned bug (special thanks for video) and thought that Haste had already been fixed by now. Added.

About the cooldown bug: are you sure it is a mesmer specific bug? Judging by the guardian’s comment, it might be a game-wide bug.

You might want to include this. I’ll repost it on the bugs forum.

I had those on my list initially, but are you absolutely sure these are specific to mesmers and not general game LoS bugs? I’ve seen that happen when I used a skill on a dredge which was standing on the other side of a small fire in Lornar’s Pass. Seemed like it happenes when it hits some invisible meshes. Does it not trigger with other classes’ ranged skills?

16. Confusing Combatants trait. Doesn’t affect phantasms. Ninjafixed on 28 Feb 2014.

17. Phantasmal Mage fires at inconsistent ranges at 800 to 1000 range. DEV: “Intended. All ranged and melee skills have a 15% buffer range to take account for tracking.”

18. Illusionary Elasticity trait. (reported by Asuka Shikinami, Wiki) Not fixed in 15AprFP.

  • Does not affect staff clones even though affects other clones.

19, 20. Illusionists Celerity and Malicious Sorcery traits. Not fixed in 15AprFP. DEV: “Intended. Shouldn’t be able to utilize both at the same time.” – but there’s definitely some confusion here.

  • If only MS taken: Illusionary Counter CD when triggered is 10s (bug).
  • If only IC taken: Illusionary Counter CD when triggered is 9s (bug).
  • If both MS and IC taken: Illusionary Counter CD when triggered is 9s (bug); Illusionary Counter tootip says 8s (bug); for the sword block, the tooltip is bugged, but all the cooldowns are proper.
  • All other skill-trait combos are fixed.

21. Spatial Surge hits the target even while marked by red bar as out of range. DEV: “Globally intended. Buffer range.”

22. Shared skill cooldowns. Separate topic.

  • Some skills will go on cooldown after you swap them in while another skill is on cooldown. Video. Another scenario.

23. Clone skills and bundles. Broken since The Bazaar of The 4 Winds patch. DEV: “Fixed some now, will fix some later.”

  • Clones are not created at all while holding bundles (env./conjured weapons etc.); affects both traits (like DE) and skills.
  • Super-lazy solution: create clones with these bundles, but idle.
  • Evident solution: create clones with the original equipped weapon casting skill 1.
  • Ultra solution: make AI use bundle skills (ok, nobody’s hoping for it really).

24. “Obstructed” and LoS issues. DEV: “Fixed some now, will fix some later.”

  • Most evident in WvW when trying to hit oil sites and players on walls and stairs with GS (primarily GS1); reported not to work in the dredge fractal when destroying the turrets. Behaviour seems to be buggy as very often there are no visual reasons for obstruction.

25. Underwater Phantasms. DEV: “Intended.”

  • Both underwater phantasm skills can be activated without a target, causing the skill to go on cooldown while doing nothing.

26. Mirror of Anguish/Halting Strike instakilling enemies. Fixed in 15AprFP!

27. Phantasmal Rogue. Claimed to be fixed.

  • Attacks inconsistently (similar to Warden). Can stand doing nothing.

28. Illusion of Life. Fixed in 15AprFP!

29. Confounding Suggestions and Mesmer Runes.

30. Phantasms and Weapon Master.

  • None of phantasms count towards the achi.
  • Phantasmal Warden’s kills do not count towards the Focus Master Achievement, thus leaving Mesmers without the ability to obtain it.
  • Corresponds with Phantasmal Disenchanter not counting towards Daily Condition Removal.
  • Contradicts with illusions counting against In Tune achievement during Holo fight.

31. Illusionary Persona.

  • Confusing Cry with IP will not grant Retaliation if illusions are not summoned.
  • Distortion, however, will properly give its effect (also called Distortion) without illusions.
  • Shattered conditions do not work.

32. Underwater Mimic.

  • Mimic channel/reflect is only ~2 sec underwater, though tooltip states 4 sec.

33. Underwater Skill Range.

  • Targeted underwater skills may initiate at that range yet will then immediately display “Out of Range” and fail to work. More.

34. → Swap.

  • Misses “Breaks Stun” in the tooltip.

35. Outfits.

  • Clones are not wearing outfits, making it easy to see who the real mesmer is.

36. GS1 damage indicator.

  • Endlessly incrementing damage on occasions; minor annoyance, only indicator affected.

37. Phantasms and Gates.

  • May not attack gates (both in PvE and WvW) – just spawn and do nothing.
  • May spawn on the other side of the gate.
  • As a result, may switch targets and attack enemy players/NPCs since they’re already inside.
  • As a result, may get killed instead of staying on the right side of the gate and attacking it.

7. Portal Entre/Exeunt.

  • Received a skill fact in tooltip in 15AprFP.
  • Has no range indicator. Impossible to tell whether it is in range or not.
  • Has no “cast time left” indicator for Exeunt. Impossible to tell when it times out.
    Solutions:
  • Introduce 2 icons for portal in the same way that conjured weapons have. One icon will have a timer, another will toggle between active/crossed out/grayed out icon for displaying the range. And this can even be a single icon.
  • Semi-solution: disable casting of Exeunt if out of range; enable it back when in range.

8. Illusions and invulnerable mobs. DEV: “Intended, same reason as LoS… Counter-play.”

  • An illusion skill gets totally wasted if cast onto an invulnerable mob (many Orr events, Marionette, etc). No illusion cast, skill goes onto a full cooldown.
  • Extremely annoying for PvE players. Discouraging to be a mesmer in large-scale events, especially with lack of AoE skills and a lag between the time an illusion is cast and the time it starts attacking.
    Solutions:
  • Cast an illusion on target and let it hang around it. If the mob is still invulnerable when e.g. a Berserker is whirling through it, it still will not die and will not break anything, but the illusion is not wasted and can scratch vulnerable nearby mobs.
  • Disable casting with a “skill requires a target” text.
    Trollution:
  • Just waste as well all classes’ AoE skills which get casted under invulnerable mobs and which melt those down that fast that an illusion can’t even touch them.

9. Blink not blinking. DEV: “Intended, follows standardized shadowstepping rules. No repro otherwise.”

  • Not blinking when it should, just teleports you where you already are and enters a full cooldown.
  • Possibly caused by uneven terrain and anti-exploit mechanics paired with lazy blocking volume placement on maps. However, this behaviour is extremely inconsistent: you may be able to blink over stairs and fences in Lion’s Arch but then fail to move forward through a presumably flat surface.
    Solutions:
  • Fix it to always work.
  • At least inform us (change the indicator to red) when your broken pathing system decides that we will not be blinked – BEFORE we try to.
  • At least block casting and do not force a cooldown when you know the skill will not be able work.

10. Phantasms and enemy pets/mobs. (reported by frifox) DEV: “Fixed some now, will fix some later.”

11. Phantasmal Haste. Fixed in 15AprFP!

12. Friendly projectile reflection bug. (reported by Xaylin) DEV: “Intended. Those skills bounce to allies and only grant the POSITIVE effects “boons” its not attached to reflect. (Trick: use your reflect to grant extra bounces:D:D:D)”

  • Friendly projectiles are reflected.
  • Happens with Mirror and F4 with Masterful Reflection.
  • Negatively affects the use of Staff Clones, iMage and iDisenchanter.
  • Probably also affects other friendly projectiles.
  • More info here and here.

13. Warden’s Feedback trait. Broken in 15AprFP.

  • May damage only the target but not other reflected enemies? Repro.
  • May not reflect (block instead) unless the target is on top of Warden?
  • May reflect projectiles upwards?
  • Temporal Curtain is too short (most projectiles will fly over the curtain) and is unreliable (some of the ground projectiles do not reflect, even at point-blank range)?

UPDATE 21 APRIL 2014. 15AprFP in short:

  • Fixed: 11. Phantasmal Haste; 26. Mirror of Anguish (Halting Strike); 28. Illusion of Life; some bugs not listed here.
  • Not Fixed: 2. Phantasmal Warden; 18. Illusionary Elasticity; 7. Portal Entre/Exeunt only got a tooltip update.
  • Broken: 13. Warden’s Feedback reflections; 35. Outfits not applying to clones; 36. GS1 damage indicator.
  • Intended: 2 mantra traits swapped lines.

Here’s a list of mesmer bugs and broken skills. If I got anything wrong, if you have more info or if I missed something, please comment and I’ll update the list.

1. Illusions exploding after target stealths. Fixed!

2. Phantasmal Warden. Fixed Broken since November 26, not fixed in 15AprFP:

Phantasmal Warden: This phantasm will now properly try to enter the attack range of its target before using its skill.

  • Just spawns there and does nothing.
  • Runs after a target and does nothing, not starting attack.
  • Spawns next to the target but runs off to a completely different target and aggroes it.
  • Extremely game-breaking for sPvP/WvW players. Game-breaking for PvE players.
    Solutions:
  • Revert the changes, make it stationary and reliable.
  • Rewrite the AI to properly (hint, hint) work with terrain slopes and to correctly calculate minimum distance to target. Start attack immediately on spawn regardless of target movements. When attack started, continue attack and do not interrupt with target’s movement.

3. Illusionary Leap + Swap. Broken since long ago. DEV: “Hard to fix.”

  • The illusion will not reach the target, in most cases it will stop half-way. Usually caused by any slightest tilt or bump in terrain, but can happen anywhere. As a result, the Swap skill used for Blurred Frenzy bursting onto a locked target gets so unreliable that it is almost unusable.
  • Game-breaking for all players. Makes impossible planning the usage of skill combos.
    Solutions:
  • Rewrite the AI to ignore ANY terrain slopes and ONLY use the direct distance to target for calculation.
  • Rework the skill to spawn the illusion onto a target and emulate a ghost animation of its leaping.

4. Temporal Curtain. Broken since release. DEV: “Working as intended. Good topic for debate on changing in the future.”

  • Will not stack swiftness at all. To get swiftness, you have to stop, wait before swiftness wears off, and ONLY THEN walk over swiftness.
    Solutions:
  • In this thread – limit number of buffs per user, max applicable swiftness duration.
  • Revert to swiftness stacking when passed over multiple times.

5. Illusions targeting anything but the player’s target. Broken since (?). DEV: “Deceptive evasion clones attack closest target, otherwise no repro.”

  • Mostly visible on Illusionary Warden, Illusionary Defender, Illusionary Duelist. Examples: in Twilight Arbor at last boss Defender will run off to a random seed turret instead of standing at the Nightmare Tree defending the players THERE; Warden will be cast on the Champion Snow Wurm at Lornar’s Pass (completely flat terrain), but immediately after spawn will run off to a random Snow Wurm instead and aggro it; Warden will be cast on the Veteran Ettin at Lornar’s Pass (slope terrain), but immediately after spawn will run off to a random Ettin instead.
  • Clones created by Deceptive Evasions may target anything.
  • AI and RNG take control over player’s skills and tactics, disrupting the game flow and discouraging players from mastering their class and instead encourages mindless spamming.
    Solutions:
  • Permanently lock all illusions to the targets they were cast on. Illusions die when the TARGET dies, but WHY illusions attack different targets then?
  • If illusions are intended to be attacking anything, then do not kill illusions until mesmer is out of combat. Be consistent in your decisions, design team!

6. Stuck after Phase Retreat/Blink. DEV: “Fixed some now, will fix some later.”

  • General game bugs which cause you to teleport inside a wall/rock mesh gets extremely annoying when running a mesmer. (Using staff in Caudecus Manor was a PAIN.)
  • Sometimes gets you permanently locked in place.

I was (just) surprised that my character meant anything in a huge MMO and even gave orders. Not that it’s a really bad thing, but once again after the personal story you become THE hero in a fight which requires hundreds of people, and it’s a bit confusing.

And yeah, “Go on” was perfectly fine by me. It simply… feels natural in a videogame with limited space for dialogues, and it even saves time on reading the differently phrased “go ons”.

I know that in GW1, only X number of minis could be on one map at a time.

If that number had already been met, then you couldn’t use yours.

Well, time has passed, and from other threads we know that a horde of mobs with full AI, buffs and combat skills (!) – ogre pets and fire elementals from consumables – did function, even though it caused some performance issues on the server side which was the cause of the recent nerfs. I’m pretty sure that current servers are able to hold many more objects which require mostly only coordinates and mesh IDs to be synced.

Also, I think it’d be insanely difficult for them to differentiate one mini Green Moa from another mini Green Moa, without some major re-coding. (And, thus, it’d be difficult to allow you to actually use multiples of the same mini.)

I also thought that at first and even wanted to put it into the “cons”, but it actually turns out it’s not the case already. I tested it with two twisted watchwork moas I got from Scarlet’s chest: if you doubleclick the same mini, it toggles from hide to show. But if you have one mini shown and doubleclick another identical mini in your inventory, it gets replaced by another mini (it really does as you can see the animation reset).

I do feel cheated.

  • I bought the old set just a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale because I thought that buying the whole set was the only way to get all tools (which I liked) at the same time. So the argument of “you had it before anyone else did” doesn’t really work for me.
  • I remember the “Last pick you’ll ever need!” slogan. No, the smartphone analogy isn’t viable because a game is not real world where you have virtually limited resources and the money you spend today is what makes it possible to develop the next generation item. In a game, it’s a Word of God and a couple of clicks to introduce a new material or to alter supply (and demand). So the “generic smartphone analogy” is a neat but shallow argument which is based on the false assumption that real-world economy is identical to game-world economy.
  • Yes, I did buy them at a discounted price, but would’ve I bought them should I had known of a new, better pick? That creates a dangerous precedent where a player can wait for a better product instead of buying the current one, resulting in a loss of gems at the moment. Make it happen more often – and you may run out of buyers at all, which will start killing the game simply because everyone’s waiting for something better.

A Mini Master License is a GEM store item which lets you get more minis active at the same time. Just think of all those mini Moa herds following you around!

Outlines:

  • You can get up to 2 Mini Master Licenses to have up to 3 minis in the world following you.
  • Each Mini Master License costs about 400-500 gems.

Pros:

  • Easy to implement – requires minimum coding and no modeling at all.
  • People do like to buy useless funny stuff like kites etc.
  • It’s not P2W.
  • It’s good for RP.
  • It will indirectly boost sales of mini packages, especially seasonal packages, because many people would like a small herd of a certain mini.

Cons:

  • These might impact the server’s performance if used by too many players at once (Lion’s Arch?), but I actually doubt that mobs with no combat skills even matter.
  • Some players may be irritated by excess of minis, but you know, haters gonna hate.

Re-checked it yesterday. They spawn at the correct place, but they don’t teleport as I said before, they leap over it in a very fast manner – blink and you miss it. It seems to happen more often when both golems are at the very spawnpoint, but that may be just random as well.

The closest scenarios in which your position gets shifted is when

  1. a static object appears, and you’re moved not to stand on top of it (like when a barricade is built, the builder gets moved a bit)
  2. a static object is destroyed, and you’re moved close to it (like when destroying a graveling burrow while standing on top of it, you get moved instead of just dropping straight down onto the floor)

However that doesn’t look like the case because the barricade is still there. The only buggy scenario I can imagine is that when a barricade drops below a certain HP value, it’s destroyed and replaced by another barricade object, at the same time triggering teleportation of a mob which has a huge hitbox overlaying the mesh and stands too close to it (compared to other lanes). That would mean some horrible code behind the barricade objects, but seeing many other bugs and permanent “hotfixes” out there, I wouldn’t exclude such a possibility.

I’m pretty sure that’s not intentional – barricades were designed for the sole purpose of holding mobs back. I’ve never seen an animation of a champ stepping over the barricade – just changing position with no effects.

Now I’ve noticed something was wrong with watchwork champs in lane 5 for some time, but I just confirmed it yesterday in 2 more fights.

The problem is that at some moment one of the champs just shadowstepps/teleports from the spawn point right through the 1st barricade and towards the 3rd barricade. Screenshots attached.

Because of players.

Let’s just take a look at the following sreenshots and analyze them.

  • Here’s a ranger and his bear. The ranger is downed and then dead. What is the evident reason of getting downed? Not kiting, not dodging just shooting the bow.
  • Here’s a guardian. With a staff. Woosh, woosh, woosh because all these volatile blossoms really get in the way.
  • Here’s a staff mesmer. Not the best choice for PvE content, and not a choice at all for crushing buildings. By the way, where’s chaos storm and chaos armor?
  • Here’s an ele wielding an ice bow. Nice and DPSy, but what about the other ice bow? Nobody’s using it! What about the regulator phase, where ice bow 4 could’ve saved the battle even when wielded by a condi class? Even the ele herself could’ve used it since the first bow had already melted.
  • There’s also a necro and someone wielding dual pistols (thief?) but there’s nothing I can say about them. There’s also a dead body, so it gives us 7 players on a platform and a failed 4/5 attempt.
  • At the last moment, an altruistic Polar Bear from the 1st screenshot made it into the platform; alert to you, devs;)

  1. Asura are genii (or at least brought up as such), sylvari are… well, “slow” ^^
  2. That might be her cover. A sylvari can’t be older than 25 (if we exclude lore violation or time travel), an asura most probably can toy with genetics/gadgets to look younger.

Well yes, extreme cases of polymorphing, hypnosis and such can also be applied to many different scenarios, but still.

I wasn’t looking for help here. I was trying to make a statement:

It is plain WRONG to flash player message every 30 seconds. Doesn’t matter they have item with or without stats!

We’re trying to make a statement as well: ANet is caring for its players and even knows how many players still don’t have their trait points set, and this is the precise reason why they flash this message: because no one would want to underperform every day of their game because of a single accidentally clicked away reminder.

I’m trying not to be rude, but equipping an item with no stats selected is not only absurd but also harmful to other players in open-world events like Marionette, Wurm and Tequatl. Misquoting your own message, “it is plain WRONG to equip an item which does nothing” (:

Odd that she’d say “one of those slow sylvari” when she knows that Scarlet is such a genius.

And this as well. Such “tongue slips” make me think that Scarlet has been a hologram all way long, and some cute little asura genius had been pulling strings right from the start. It makes far more sense for an asura to be an extremely gifted engineer and not a max-25-year-old sylvari girl ^^

If you talk to her as an asura, then she tells you instead that she’s studying in the college of synergetics and doing important field experiments, and when you ask whether Zojja aproves of her experiments, she just tells you to ask her yourself.

(Even?) if you talk to her as a sylvari, she says something along the lines of “Ah ok, I thought you were one of those slow sylvaris”. I wonder if this is an insult for sylvari characters only, a mere oversight of content team or an alarming point of her not recognizing sylvaris at all.

Like the idea. To make it easier for the content team and more challenging for players, just don’t make NPCs spill out instructions; people should read the usual mob description and learn the mechanics themselves.

I second most suggestions, especially:

  • auto-targeting only for reds and no yellow/whites (should be default, but may be an option)
  • option for prioritizing the heaviest mob in the camera cone (that Lyssa targeting with all the players around which even loses the Ctrl-T focus is such a pain in the axe…)

Another features I’d like to see:

  • auto-targeting mobs which are very close but behind camera (though that might be considered as exploiting common sense)
  • REAL termination of auto-attack on target change (I just hate attacking a random yellow moa after killing the enemy, or even worse, pulling a pack of wolves…); or possibly an option that goes as “Initiate auto-attack sequence only after auto-attack skill has been triggered by the player once for the specific target”
  • option to disable ally (green player/NPC) mouse selection while in combat (would really help in group events)

Same here. Plenty of RAM, but can’t see inventory items and half the skills when it loads. It’s a pain trying to equip correct weapons/utilities and eat correct consumables when trying to catch up with the event which is ending soon.

Dear Devs, fighting bugs is not funny (:

Yesterday I got ported to Warden II’s platform, was alone there at the moment and got seen by the champ just to discover that I’m stuck with a melee weapon and that watchwork thing is spinning towards me and laying mines all around. I had to dodge and kite away while trying to locate H and then mouseclick the arrows on the Hero panel which was blocking half of my screen. I lost half HP by the moment I finished, I had the aggro so it prevented people from stopping it, and overall the flow of the battle was severed and we were the only platform to fail the champ. Now some players wandering by might say “You could just dodge towards him!”, but I’d answer that a bug should not force a player to change his usual tactics mid-way. Others might say that loosing half HP and having to click an arrow in a panel is not a big deal and does not result in a fail, but we all know how concentration is important.

I asked in the chat about that bug and several people told me they had it often and the solution was to open the Hero panel and click the arrow (while one person said it hadn’t helped him). With this being such a common and affecting bug, I believe it should have a higher priority.

Without the tension new things get boring faster. Too much tension, (as seems to be your case) and people give up and the content is wasted on them.

Having said all that, if after a week the Marionette is still only being beaten 1 out of 10 times, then I would say we may have tuned it a bit too difficult.

With a single success (home servers) vs. a dozen failures (overflows) I’d say that tension shifted to frustration pretty soon. Things like camping home server for more than an hour, like people who don’t speak English in overflows and don’t read chat/guides pile up and result in a phenomenon: once you defeat Marionette a single time, you just don’t feel like torturing yourself anymore (even if you still need the /cheer achievement). I like the boss and the event, I just don’t like the pressure which comes from technical problems and a part of the community. Easy things do get boring fast, hard things are challenging, but unpredictable things get slightly boring even before being done and a lot straight after it.

P.S. Because several people brought up the idea of buffing the other platforms when one succeeds, I thought I ought to let you all know that this has always been the case. When one platform’s power regulator is destroyed the players on the platforms adjacent get Electrify Aura which gives 60 seconds of protection, swiftness, regeneration, fury, might, vigor and retaliation.

That was really nice to hear (no sarcasm), but this feature missed: by the time good platforms has finished their part of the job, that-one-unfortunate-platform had usually already wiped.

Compact inventory does not work

I have always seen it as a feature but it would be nice to have Compact for them too, but not to send the items on it to other bags (that would spoil the purpose of these segregated bags) but clustering items on its first slots, as it does on normal bags.

This. It’s a pain to join a larger event and after it to look for overflowed equipment which filled slots of depositable items in crafting bag among all those runes and sigils.

You know, when people aren’t reading mapchat after all the tactics you write there, or when you put a feast of food and point people to eat it and 2/3 don’t even care, or when you meet on a non-DE server a German-only thief who can’t put Shadow Refuge in a dungeon because he “english no speak” and didn’t see “experienced” in the party description, and then 4 of 5 platforms are looking at dead bodies on the last platform for the 10th time, it’s only natural to become irritated.

I’m all into cheering and cooperation, but for Grenth’s sake, it should either be casual content or hardcore content. And by “casual” I mean letting players who know what to do help players who don’t want to learn, because with these politics in mind leeching is better than nothing.

^ This. Because I can’t thumb it up enough. Because after a dozen fails in overflows, I had to camp my home server to finally make it.

I’d actually suggest putting a condition onto every player on the map who’s not fighting the boss which would drain there hp. Like, “twisted magnetic field”.

How to make the Marionette into a Fractal

I second a boss fractal adaptation. A single lane, 1-2 minute defense – champ 1 -> 1-2 minute defense -> champ 2 … -> champ 5 -> Marionette dismissed. The story itself fits perfectly in the concept of fractals.

Some background fighting noise to imitate the scale while in the lane, just like in Charr fractal. Mobs “fighting” other champs on other 4 platforms. Cutscenes.

There would be sufficient epicness and an interesting gameplay. The best thing about adding it is that the mechanics are already coded and all the graphics are present as well.

No No No.. Part of the fun of this encounter is waiting outside feeling anxious if the group inside will actually pull it off! And looking helplessly at other platforms wondering if they will pull it off… You can never simulate this in the fractals (simulator)

Some minor tweaking will make it available for new players later, while keeping the whole boss as a permanent event is not viable: we’ll be able to get so many people together only during this release and it will stay Tequatl all the other time. Which one would you prefer: sacrificing the “feeling” or sacrificing the whole event?

On the sidenote, I’d be happy to see Tower of Nightmares in fractals as well. Some zerging through the third level plus Toxic Hybrid.

Weapon Swap Disabled after Cutscene

I’ve seen this mentioned on the forum before but as it still got no fix, I’m writing about it again and adding some screenshots.

Weapon swap gets disabled if it was on cooldown when you get a cutscene (and skip it).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Get your mesmer into a dungeon (I know it happens on mesmers, don’t know about other classes), like CM or TA.
  2. Fight a mid-boss that has a cutscene after death while constantly swapping weapon sets, so that when you kill the boss, your weapon swap is on cooldown.
  3. Skip the cutscene straight away because you’re doing this dungeon Nth time.
  4. See that your weapon swap is grayed out and you cannot change weapon sets with the binded key. Nothing happens.
  • As you can see on the screenshots, both weapon sets ARE equipped.
  • To get it working back, you need to open the hero panel and click on the swapping double arrow.
  • I am not sure if it happens every time. Maybe it has something to do with the skipped cutscene being shorter than the weapon cooldown.

This is very, very annoying, especially when it happens several times in a single dungeon. You’re rushing into the next fight and you understand you’re stuck with the wrong weapon set…

Please fix this.

Instead of an indication of how much you’ve been playing since the game launch, it will be an indication of how much you’ve been playing since the monthly reset. How is it different?

And with only dailies/monthlies/LS to count too many people will have those maxed out pretty quick. No, even being a fairly new player, I’d prefer the global achievement list just to look at the veterans.

I had the bug where your skills stop working so I relogged real quick to fix that issue.

I had a skill lag and a random teleportation lag-bug once at the very end of Scarlett Minions Invade! event. I relogged, killed several more mobs, saw the timer run out and got no reward…

I changed my condi build to a power build after yet another AC p1 failed burrows phase.

I’m not sure if “number of hits” is the optimal solution. I’d suggest hardcoding condition damage conversion into instant hit points. So say, if you inflict 3 stacks of bleeding for 3 seconds with 100 damage per tick per stack, you just deal extra 900 damage straight away transparently. Or at least a part of it, 2/3 or 1/2… Weakness and other things with side effects will be hard to calculate, but still.

Yes, that makes little to no sense from the logical point of view, but as long as no condition-only and completely immune to damage objects or mobs exist in the world, something should be done here.

Another option I could suggest is introducing a conversion of all conditions into a stack of corrosion or degradation with no stacking cap. This might be even trickier to implement, but that makes perfect sense: the “magic” nature of conditions applied affects inanimate objects in a way that causes them to corrode and degrade over time, thus draining objects’ HP similar to bleeding. When paired with the upcoming nerf of zerk builds, this concept would really do a lot to diversify builds.

The crazy thing about the gates is that ANet already have automatic teleports in game. You don’t have to interact with an asura gate to travel via it…

I thought it being not automatic was an intended behaviour. Don’t know what the intention exactly was though. Probably it was designed that way to let people stack at the place and teleport all at once (so that there won’t be people soloing bosses until others come). Not that it can’t be done with an asura gate…

I agree, wish this was staying as a boss event. Love it.

I like it too, but as soon as the release ends, nobody (except TTS) will ever gather enough people to take it down. Everybody will go for Frozen Maw and Inquest Golem and Fire Ele to get the easy rares.
