Closest thing I did was boss blitz with no armor, no weapons and [Kick], [Throw Bolas], [Bull’s Charge], [Become the Bear], dodge and fall damage. Still need to solo something with this setup, lol.

There is a quite big difference between being useful and being able to trivialize an encounter without much effort.

Keep in mind that it took 18 months to simply associate the Arah p1 waypoints with the correct bosses. If that’s our yardstick for fix timetables, we’ve got at least 3 years left before they revamp FGS.

• Exploitation is a new stat added to the game. This stat will increase some selected skills damage (e.g. Fiery Rush, Ice Bow, Wall of Partial Reflection, etc.) for each point acquired. Base damage for those skills was significantly toned down.
• Exploitation is inversely proportional to Power, Precision and Ferocity in order to favor build diversity.

There is plenty of build variety though. Players swap in and out certain traits for certain encounters pretty often. If you feel like running a different team comp, you shuffle traits around to achieve the same results. The best build variety is seen in team comps. It’s like a 5 man puzzle of traits and utilities. THAT’S what makes this game so fun.

Condis. and CC also have plenty of uses in both dungeons and fractals if you choose to employ them. None of them require you to gear for them though. If you want to pew pew pew and LB knockback everytime it is off CD, and rack up 20 stacks of Defiance on a mob, then you will enjoy none of those elements. If you want to coordinate CC, then you will actually find that it’s a pretty nice mechanic.

Did they add a necro class?

I heard condition bosses are coming together with a necromancer-type class on the Feature Patch 2018.

One thing that usually works for me in bad pugs is trying to be funny. That’s why I always do AC with my yellow charr elementalist named “My Doge”. I say “wow. such FGS. very stack here.” and imediatelly they start following, saying “all listen to king doge”, etc.

IMO in pugs:
CoF, SE, CoE are usually fine.
AC 1/3 are hit or miss.
AC 2 is usually terrible unless you find an OK group in the other 2 paths for running it.
TA, CM are a nightmare, specially without a thief (that knows how to stealth).
HotW 1 used to be fine, now it’s bad.

Problem isn’t the delay, it’s the connection stability.
The Internet guardian is a staff playhowyouwanter. He never uses stability.

To be honest I don’t really like Arah, the CC-fest mobs are so annoying. Soloing Belka is a nightmare: I dc every 2 tries, and when I don’t dc, that “freeze and speed up” thingy happens and I don’t even see the knockback + ball of doom animation.
Surprisingly, I almost never get connection problems when in a group… It’s weird.

I’d love to be able to solo bosses with fast tells like Lupi, but my connection is so bad that by the point dodge finally triggers, my character already died, waypointed by himself and cleared inventory.

I sometimes pug and ask the same thing, “is this their first time”. And like you said, it’s normally not answered straight away.

I have to admit I often don’t know how to answer this kind of question. I’ve done a ton of dungeons with my friends / ex-guildies, finished every dungeon path at least twice, and have a solid understanding of most paths and their mechanics. But since the people I mostly have run with so far hardly ever skip or stack and range most bosses (successfully, with a colourful mix of builds and equipment), I have next to no knowledge of pug tactics. Am I “new” to the dungeon by your definition or not?

There are several often completely different ways to complete a dungeon. Record runs, speed runs, casual organized runs, pug tactics, non-stacking/skipping runs, yolo mode, etc.

If you don’t know the pug tactics but know the encounters, you’ll probably master the official safe way of pugs after 1-2 runs. Be advised most pugs stack and skip, so advertise your own group if you want to do otherwise.

Unpopular opinion here, but I wouldn’t run anything other than PS in PUGs. From my experience, it’s worth to bring it most of the time. For the most part, their DPS is not really good, however I prefer having reasonable kill times. And especially IF the guardian/mesmer cannot use reflects, killing stuff faster becomes more important. I like being useful to my puggies. It’s part of MY contribution to the run.

I agree. I switched from solo to PS build during boss blitz (where play-how-you-want and uplevels abound) and 5% health timing went from 4 to 2 minutes. I was astonished.

If you need 10 minutes you will complete 12 paths maximum in 2 hours. Since most of them give 1g thats 12g .. or maybe 15 for the few that give 1,5g, but not 30-40g .. thats what i wanted to say.

Actually the paths he mentioned give 1g5s + 26s, and 1g55s + 26s for the AC paths. Total: 17g22s.

Plus you get the inventory filled every 3 paths. Plus you can salvage dungeon token weapons/armor for insignias/ecto. Plus you can craft dungeon trinkets if you happen to have the recipes.

30-40g is quite accurate, I used to do this everyday.

On Boss Blitz, defeated and out-of-combat players count for scaling. I’m not sure about other open world bosses, but it’s probably true too.

Dungeon and Fractal bosses don’t scale.
