@OP elite spec is meant to be another playstyle, I know a lot of people would be upset if they’d have to buy the expansion just to get a spec that fixed the current problems plaguing thief.
Why is this skill not baseline, it’s a joke as an acro adept.
Because it would make Backstab more OP than it already is.
Lets be honest thief is far from OP atm, this would barely change anything. Lets stop being fine with the way things are and actually accept buffs if they happen to come our way.
That’s not the point I’m trying to make, the tools given to tempest to support the group or zerg are in the form of cc, so the traits should reflect this.
Perhaps the devs intended for overloads to be the support aspect and the warhorn to be the control. Either way a good portion the traits need an overhaul.

Who said it was focused on Control?
The Meet the Tempest article describes the Tempest as “a close-range specialization capable of blasting out damage and support.”
But how does it do said support, one would assume through cc.
I’ve had a few ideas about how to make shield a more attractive choice, since it’s very plain in flavor, and base cooldown reduction isn’t cutting it. it’s also not really worth it compared to Focus or Torch for that matter. So here it is, an attempt at making shield a better choice, as well as making the trait for shield a little more fun and interesting.
These look amazing!, but I agree lets just get rid of the dome all together. The 1st 2 skills would work well with guardian. The first skill could be shield 4 and the second would be shield 5. I like the shield trait as well!
For an elite spec focused on control, why does none of the traits reflect this? I’m thinking traits along the lines of lightning rod that debuff the enemy when they are cc’ed. Almost every warhorn attunement (except fire, not counting boon strip) has a control/debuff effect. Adding some control related traits would also encourage the use of warhorn and other weapon sets like off-hand dagger. What does every think about this?
The Revenant elite specialization Herald will become better stronger Guardians.
Plus there weapon, SHIELD, is everything we Guardians have been begging the devs the last three years for.
Envoy of Exuberance: Dragon energy cascades from the shield to protect and heal your allies, then comes back to you. As it’s a ground-targeted skill, you can position this one strategically to maximise its usefulness.
Crystal Hibernation: A crystal energy shield prevents damage after this skill has been channelled, and it also quickly tops up your health pool. Your character gains a defiance bar when this skill is used, and the risk of using it will need to be considered carefully.
For three years we have been begging the devs to rework shield (amongst other things -spirit weapons) and we consistently get ignored.
Now we receive the worst elite specialization (thus far) Dragon Hunter, with the worst skills in the game (Traps) with a Longbow that is weaker then Scepter and Virtues that are weaker then the current Virtues.
Anyone else regretting pre-purchasing Heart of Thorns?
Do the devs even read these forums?
Is all our feedback ignored?(sorry for the rant but after three years i am beyond frustrated)
Don’t know about worst spec so far but some traits, vitures, projectile speed and backwards aiming definitely needs to be looked at. I feel Tempest is in a worst spot, traits need to be fixed, elites and auras (which are ok but I don’t like the concept of auramancer since it promotes passive play). Back on topic the Revenant shield shows Anet knows what a guardian needs in terms of a shield change but they choose to ignore it, perhaps due to lack of time, resources or interest. We don’t want cd reduction but a whole rework of shield skills.
Was just thinking about this the other day. This spec definitely needs more visual auditory tweaks along with gameplay mechanics. I believe they mentioned something about this during the DH livestream, hope they certainly implement it.
Anyone else think water overload needs invulnerability? I also feel that overloads need to either be like 2 seconds to charge any longer than that and the rotations get messy.

I really like the overall feel of the Dragonhunter (guess this name is staying), traps are better than I though they would be. Longbow is great as well, aa speed seems ok, people want to speed it up but I don’t think it should be the same speed as current ranger LB, maybe something slightly faster but slower than ranger LB because it can cripple and thematically makes sense that ranger aa is faster. Lastly Virtues, they desperately need cd reduction both DH and Guardian virtues, I feel profession mechanics should be actively used as they define they profession. A simply 10 sec reduction to each virtue would go a long way (maybe even 12 second reduction for VOJ).
That’s it for me for now, overall nice work on the profession it, it really changes the feel of a guardian (now hurry up and release thief spec please)
One thing I wanted to add is a cd reduction is needed on Hunter’s Ward, making it anyway from 35-40 seconds would be nice.

1. Anyone notice that Wildfire is not affected by the persisting flames trait, so the fire duration is not extended, is this intended?
There are quite a lot of bugs with the spec atm. I’ve noticed both Dragon’s tooth and Phoenix will many times not blast the field for some reason. I have no clue why this happens since the field is large enough, probably some weird areas you need to aim at to get the blast.
Yea that’s really odd, hope they look into it.
1. Anyone notice that Wildfire is not affected by the persisting flames trait, so the fire duration is not extended, is this intended?
2. Secondly the elite skill needs to be somewhere between 30-40 seconds for cooldown, 60 is way too high for a 25% reduction. If the reduction was 100% then maybe it could stay at 60 seconds.

Does anyone know if trait reactive lenses became bugged after this patch? Because it seems like it doesn’t proc on some control skills like knockdown and knockback. It was working for me before July 28th patch…
Has been bugged and only working very occasionally for an extensive time now.
Cool, thanks for info, hope they can fix it soon!

The main thing about thief is that it is the weakest class when it comes to 1v1. Yet people are always complaining about the class and stealth. It’s definitely a learn to play issue, cause once you know how to deal with one it’s makes their job so much harder.
This patch really shows the current state of thieves. Almost every class got “nerfed” (with exception to ranger and engi which really needed the buff imo) while every patch note concerning thief was a “buff”. However thief is still a long ways from what is was pre-June patch.

Fix melee auto-attacks! (probably my last one)

Yeap it sucks that the Canadian dollar is weak atm. When I compare the price that I bought gw2 from the guild wars store to the expac it really makes no sense. The amount of content doesn’t seem to justified the price (but if thief gets staff I might budge lol). When I convertered the price of the ultimate edition, I was like NO THANKS!
Needs ground targeting
Where’s the sword?
I agree the elite is lacking, to make the elite better it should be changed to something like next non-elite skill or overload used instantly recharges. Because the elite effects both the ele and allies it would work very well. I wonder if the skill works with icebow 4 >:)
Shaves a whole 5 seconds off that recharge! So ELITE!
I was talking about the suggested version of the elite lol. 2 Ice storms in a row would rock!

“The tempest cannot be stopped”
Except whenever interupts blow in their direction. Be that as it may, I enjoyed the post too

I agree with lowering the CD of wildfire, and putting a blast on sand squall. I think the water skills are fine with the cooldowns that were shown.
Yea warhorn needs at least 2 blast finishers like dagger and focus and sand squall is a good candidate for one.
I made a thread that might provide an idea for a temporary fix concerning death shroud https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Notification-about-background-skill-cooldown/first#post5316351
Sigil and Rune Cooldowns, seriously need this. Perhaps above the utility weapon skills bar
Yeap this could definitely be applied to runes and sigils as well!
I was thinking of a solution to allow the player to see the cool down of activated skills in the background. The cool down notifications could come in the form of icons similar to boons or conditions except it would have the picture of the skill and a timer beside it or the tootip when you hover over it. I believe this would help to time your skills better for skills like portal or shadow step. This would also help necromancers see their cooldowns in death shroud.
Like current notifications the player would have the option to tweak this in the menu for their 6-0 skills respectively. To prevent screen clutter when reading other players’ boons/conditions or people seeing what skill you’re currently using (pvp/wvw) maybe the devs could make so only the player using the skill can see the icons. This is the short version, I’ll be happy to provide examples of how this could work for certain skills and which professions would benefit from this. Feel free to add ideas or critique!
TLDR: Skill cooldown notification in the form of boon/condi icons.
Not really sure why they decided to give two professions shouts, they should try to make the elite specs more unique (however if Anet decides to give thieves a staff like rangers, then I wouldn’t mind that). Furthermore shouts make more sense for Tempest and if they were going for an unstoppable monster theme for Reaper then warrior physical skills would have made more sense.
“Elemental singularity” skills have been datamined, which give you a skill after you’ve been in an attunement for a few seconds. I’m speculating that these skills will replace your F-skill for an attunement when you’ve been in that attunement for a while.
I doubt we’re going to get another attunement.
This sounds interesting but if main-hand weapons don’t get tweaked a bit I feel like they will drag down the warhorn. Only time will tell though
I was thinking instead of adding another attunement (like F5) perhaps taking the Tempest traitline and/or warhorn could change the auto attacks of the main hand weapon. This means both scepter and dagger would get full auto attack chains creating better synergy between the main-hand and off-hand weapons!
What is the Backstab bug by the way?
whenever you used backstab, no matter if it got blocked, blinded, dodged or if you just hit empty air, it would always reveal you…..
idk how they could miss it:|
Hmm seems more like a ninja nerf than a bug.
My charr just seems to roar when this skill is used but I think I heard “I will avenge you” once. Don’t know if it’s a bug or something.
What is the Backstab bug by the way?
As excited as I am about the new legend reveal for revenant, no idea why they won’t just finish elite spec reveals for current classes. Hopefully now that Rev is complete (only elite spec left) they will continue with the others…
For PvE LB/SA is still slightly higher dps than GS/SA so what’s the problem?
Tooltip for Strength of the Pack & We Heal as One still don’t reflect regeneration and swiftness when using resounding timbre trait in beastmastery.
Resounding Timbre doesn’t apply regen or swiftness to “we heal as one” nor “strength of the pack” being they are both shouts.
It does apply it, it’s just not stated in tooltip.
I also agree with that it should trigger at the start of the role, just like how they fixed the revive trait with well of blood I think.
Could ArenaNet make this in-combat only please? Would be a great quality of life improvement.
When using Resounding Timbre (Beastmastery adept trait) the tooltip for “Heal As one” and “Strength of the Pack” does not show swiftness and regen.
Yea I noticed this too.
I think this system is a tad overcomplicated. Rather than try to differentiate different specialisations across all professions, I think this way would be easier:
For instance, with ele:
Fire= F
Air= Ai
Earth= E
Water = W
Arcane = Arand Warrior as a second example:
Strength = S
Arms = Ar
Defence = De
Tactics= T
Discipline = DiThis is far easier to remember as each abbreviation is as simple as it can be. Therefore, it is the most logical.
Sure, Warrior’s “Arms” and Ele’s “Arcane” will share the same abbreviation of “Ar”, but it’s fairly obvious which you are referring to. In a party, other people will know what profession you are and elsewhere it is normal to state what profession you are before you describe your build anyway.
I can also imagine people describing which traits they pick by numbering them vertically.
You have 9 trait options in each specialisation, 3 rows of 3. All top-most traits are 1, middle ones are 2 and the bottom-most ones are 3.
Here’s a random example of this all put together:
“I’m an Ele. F 132. Ai 222. Ar 311.”
Nice this seems to work pretty well!
This is really great and I really appreciate this being done. <—Key point.
That being said…I’ve bought all the slots I want. I ordered the Ultimate and already got another to try the new class or an elite spec.It just seems kind of redundant to add an “additional character slot” to something that already gives me an “additional character slot”. I really don’t need or want this as it was something that was really already part of a package deal. I understand the rushed manor of this announcement but the people this benefits the most are the ones to get the base version. I’m sure others are more than happy to get free slots it just seems redundant and it bothers me.
To be honest I would’ve much rather seen this:
The ability to purchase any one account upgrade for free (800 gems or less) in the gem store one time has been given to players who had an active account prior to X date and have pre-purchased HoT.
This way the reward is customized to every player’s needs which actually makes people feel better about getting what they want out of this expansion and therefore more likely to buy it (or feel better about doing so).
Again, just some wishful thinking from a guy who spent 100$ and already had a new character slot. Thanks.
Yea perhaps gems in the future, so you can decided what you want to buy!
101 pages later to all the nay-sayers :P Thanks again ArenaNet!
