Yeap I thought the same thing when I saw this. I bet magnet is probably as reliable as hunter’s verdict now.
This has probably been mentioned before but I have an idea on how it could be implemented. As a thief you have initiative to use in place of skill cooldowns, this would continue to remain the same. Instead there are would no cooldown (or 1 second cooldown) on your weapon swap. This would encourage using more than one weapon in a fight as the situation demands, while still using the same initiative pool. It could potentially increase build diversity as well.
To prevent exploitation the “on swap” skills would require an ICD. Even if this cannot be implemented on current thief it would be neat on an elite spec.

extreme bunker exist because those professions can’t play extreme burst
This is still false as post June 26th patch every class (with the exception of elementalist) could play burst fairly well. The current meta was not directly caused by extreme burst. It was due to lack of balance and forethought on Anet’s part concerning certain skills & traits.

So thief is “extreme” burst? This isn’t 2014. Also burn guards while annoying, are easily countered.

Thief needs a lot of work though imo.
The incoming changes look good, however some important things still missing like preventing capture while under the effects of well of precognition for mesmer. Like someone else mentioned thief and war also need to be looked at. But kudos to anet for not waiting till the new year to sneak some of these in, don’t think pvp could last that long.
It would be if it was as reliable as hunter’s verdict (dragonhunter pull). Infact they need to update more pull skills to be like that.
Thanks for the input TheFrighteningFrenchFry.3275 & Xyonon.3987. From what I gather I think might use shield if my group has enough dps but only use 1 avenger instead of 2. I’ll also stick with signet of ether but I’ll keep testing.
For Mesmer raids build why should I use shield over focus or pistol. Even with the alacrity am I not losing a significant amount of dps if I 2/3 phantasms are avengers. Also I am seeing well of eternity in some builds instead of signet of ether. How do you get that 3rd phantasm seeing as you can only use deja vu if you are attacked during the channel. This doesn’t seem as consistent at casting ether.
Any answers would be appreciated thanks.

Heart of Thorns, the first expansion to Guild Wars 2, divided players with its many changes. But one thing’s for sure, it’s one of the most complete expansions to an MMORPG in years.
Every facet of the game was touched, polished, tweaked, or overhauled. More shockingly, most of the changes were for the better!
ArenaNet says that Heart of Thorns is all about laying the groundwork for what’s to become of their MMO sequel.

I don’t know about abandoned, cause I saw Roy in pvp the other day, but they sure are taking their sweet time to do anything. If they don’t act soon, it will definitely affect them negatively.

A game maybe lasts 15 minutes including queue time. With that number, it would take 13 hours to complete 52 games.
Continuous play I guess but still…spending that much time playing is not practical (especially considering that many losses). Like some are saying it seems like they are purposely tanking their MMR.

I get where you’re coming from OP. If Anet wants to make pvp more accessible like they claim, things like buying amulets & runes with gold need to go. Or at the very least add them to a reward track.

With all the content that came with the expansion, I’m glad I only paid $50 for it. The lack of in-game obtainable rewards within HoT is laughable.

I can’t say it enough that leagues as a solo-qer is a nightmare. Win a match lose the next. End up a the exact same place. It’s beyond frustrating. On top of class balance, this whole system needs to be redone.

As the title says, since beta and changes to the heavy light trait it’s hard to guess when it’s done recharging. Sure it’s only a 10 second cool-down but an indicator would be helpful.

I am unable to continue with my collection for the Bo staff because whenever I receive silver in the bugs in the branches adventure the collection does NOT update. I asked in map chat if other thieves experience this but I seem to be the only one. Please fix this!
Warrior/Zerker definitely needs more various forms of sustain if it wants to be competitive in this meta.
That match with Sizer was painful to watch. Guys thief is balanced right?? We may not be able to engage without help or hold a node, but we have MOBILITY. Yea wait….mobility op please nerf.
Thief dmg is good in theory, sadly you lose a lot in practice.
So, there are a few things anet could do to make thief viable (looking at the first raid boss):
1. Make WC 1 or 2 hits, with same dmg as the 3 hits before
2. Make Mug baseline
3. New trait: Hitting a target with steal applys a debuff for 10 sec, making all teammmebers (10 in raids) do 10-20% more dmg for that time.This would ensure thief can do dmg while also giving some offensive teamsupport.
The other option:
Buff thief dmg by a huge amount, to make it worth for the not existing team support.
Those are good ideas. How about making assassin’s signet’s active affect the whole group (like SoA), maybe add condi damage to it as well.

Can we get something similar to ranger toggle pet combat bat hotkey (well not exactly like that) where we can select legends. It gets a bit tedious using the mouse to select legends, especially when using action combat mode. Perhaps this could be added for the utility skills of other professions as well. But should only be doable out of combat as it is now!
Yah, what could possibly be broken about relatively damaging AoE attacks with party buffs making the user completely invulnerable for 4 seconds… and what could possibly be broken about a player having access to 4 seconds of invulnerability every 5 seconds…
Really now, c’mon. Asking for overload buffs is one thing, but this is just ridiculous.
Then you add a mechanic where you can only invuln every 60-75 seconds during overload.
Like would it really be that gamebreaking? There are so many restrictions and consequences when using overloads. Why can’t they just make the ele at least immune to damage or something, you can’t damage storms…
Nerf numbers if you have to but at least make them useful.

No. Get rid of the imob and place an aoe knockdown on hammer. Or revert it to what it was before.
When I was doing the Rally to Maguuma mission on my alts I noticed that Canach and Taimi were missing. The first time I saw Canach but couldn’t interact with him and there was no dialogue also Taimi was missing. When I did it on another alt I saw that both were missing this time. Interesting bug, hope it can be fixed.
I agree please give melee staff a unique idle/run animation. Also please add a trail effect to Fractal Staff because we can use it in melee now.

I was thinking a nice change to the dead or alive trait would be if zerker mode would trigger with the full 10 adrenaline when under a certain health threshold (similar to endure pain). What do you guys think?
I noticed that the dragonhunter virtues unlock without unlocking virtuous action trait. All I had was the bow proficiency trait and I was able to use the new virtues. I’m guessing this is a bug because I tried the same thing on Tempest and the new overloads did not unlock. Saw this earlier today, so don’t know if it has been patched or not.
Seems to be fixed for me now. So a small hiccup in an otherwise great launch. Hope others can log in as well.
Having the same issue as most people here. I cannot log unto certain maps without getting a network error. The only maps I was able to get on so far were Lion’s Arch and Heart of the Mists. The forums are also running slow for me as well. Hope this will be resolved soon.
This skill feels more like an initiative waster then anything. The blind doesn’t feel very useful at times and the range is too short. I would even be satisfied with 800 range. Overall this skill should be changed to something else. It’s like zerker hammer burst all over again….
