I noticed earlier I wasn’t getting the automatic aegis from Courage passive unless I activated it or swapped spec lines. I assume it was a bug.

Just wanted to devs to have a mental note about reworking acrobatics on base thief. With the DD spec acro has sorta lost it’s identity. I suggest perhaps looking a improving shadow steps with acrobatics (maybe rename). Since thief has so many forms of shadowsteps augmenting them with the trait line could open new ways to play.

Wow those are great ideas! But I have a feeling anet will leave acrobatics as it is and play around with shadowsteps for the “assassin” e-spec (I hope not though cause acro needs some love in some way).

Definitely agree with fast hands being base-line it could be added as a warrior mechanic in the class description. Even Mesmer self-shatter became baseline and opened up other trait lines. Even more necessary is the defense line perhaps adding a bit more health regen or damage nullification to the zerker line might help with this. Overall I enjoy the Zerker spec. Good work!

Keep in mind (those posting above) mentioned haven’t been implemented. I also think another important aspect of dragon hunter is the virtues. I feel that decreasing virtue cooldown is important and having traits that reward to DH for usage of virtues is the best way to go.

I’d imagine there may be a waypoint at the repair anvil, but probably won’t be more than that… So you’d have to make your way back to your group. (And there might be re-spawns along the way, so good luck doing it alone.)

My thoughts: I agree with making the dodge rolls a lot smoother as well as the staff animations and changing the idle staff stance to a unique one. Also the cool-down between each distracting dagger should be removed or increase the overall duration. Lastly perhaps weakening charge could get the death’s charge fix because it often overshoots the target which can be a pain.

Edit: Vault animation needs to sped up.

Hey Karl, the cool-down reduction on hunter’s ward makes a big difference hope it stays that way even 5 seconds shorter would be nice! Some sort of movement speed upon activation of virtues would be cool (if you guys don’t want it to be passive), you could call it “Thrill of the hunt” Also perhaps there could be a trait (or baseline) that makes traps “throwable” this makes sense with the DH because it would be like calling down magical traps to cause area denial.

Last but not least these e-specs should try to have as much synergy as possible with the old specializations lines, after all we are taking 2/3 along with the elite.

Hi all!
Thanks for your continued feedback on the Tempest. If possible, let’s compile all feedback into this thread.
We’re iterating in quite a few areas for this specialization, including Rebound. Here’s the description of the latest implementation we’ve been testing over the last few days:
“Shout and infuse your allies with arcane energy. Allies who would take lethal damage while this is active ignore the deathblow and are healed instead. If the effect expires naturally, grant an aura based on your current attunement.”

Another small change we was due to the case that warhorn was missing an aura. As such (in our test iteration), Magnetic Aura now belongs to Sand Squall, in addition to its other properties. Looking forward to your constructive feedback from this BWE.

Hey Karl this seems like a step in the right direction for rebound as it provides more ways for Ele to survive in the frontlines while bolstering allies. Just try to avoid anything like the previous version that requires too much coordination. Also perhaps for overloads you could look at giving Tempest something similar to the berserker’s eternal champion. The Tempest could pulse stability while overloading to help complete the channel. I’m looking forward to playing with Tempest/DH/DD after the various concerns are dealt with. Keep up the good work!

Oh, I also noticed that with the pvp npcs, even though they were close to downed state but not in it, they would still get finished by the 3rd strike.

Finishing Blow only uses the default finisher animation (flag) despite me choosing a different one.

This probably intended as the elite finisher differs from the regular finisher. Hope they can change this in the future.

?? I don’t see it at all. In which part of the game? In PvE, Dragon Hunter and Beserker won’t be meta for sure. Maybe a good build, but not meta. For herald, I don’t know enough about the profession as a whole to be sure, but the only strength vs guardian is the perma protection. The Herald can do that more easily than the guardian, even if both can achieve it. But still, Herald don’t have aegis or much reflection, which are the two biggest strength of the guardian in PvE. So no I don’t see Guardian being push out of the meta by any of those in PvE.

For PvP, it’s a bit soon for that. I don’t see beserker or Dragon Hunter replacing Bunker Guardian. Maybe Herald maybe, I don’t know. I would see it more as a brawler than a Bunker. I could see some of them becoming meta in PvP, but that doesn’t mean that they would replace a guardian. Guardian build would still be as efficient, they would just add more option.

This. With raids coming guardians will be needed more than ever.

Lets be honest thieves are far from the best class when it comes to PVE . Yeah we can stealth a group to pass trash mobs, pump out blast finishers with short bow and provide OK dps but that’s not enough to legitimize us for raiding. I guess my point is why should I play my thief, which is in fact my favorite class, over my warrior or elementalist both of which can outplay my thief with little to no effort in the pve scene.

“Ok” dps? wasn’t thief highest single target dps post patch? Don’t know about now but we couldn’t have fallen that far.

Personally, I am pretty darn stoked to get my hands on the Daredevil this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed everything they revealed during the POI and I think this spec is going to be a solid contender in many ways.

My only questions/concerns/feedback so far are in 3 areas (@Karl):

1. Channeled Vigor (the heal)
a. Can you move while channeling it? If it locks you in place, I would never use it as that defies the whole “mobile, highly evasive” nature of this class and elite spec.

b. Please reconsider the design on the larger heal amount. The bigger heal should be available when endurance is NOT full — at moments of low health and low or recently spent endurance — which is when you would most need all the features of this skill. Otherwise, this heal would promote holding onto your energy, which is the complete opposite of the point of this spec. And another reason I would never use this heal. How it feels and plays out this weekend will provide more input.

2. Vault (staff 5) and Bound (grandmaster trait)
Since Anet has stated that the staff is more of a cleaving AoE damage type of weapon, I believe that these skills should be BLAST finishers and not leaps. This brings them into perfect alignment with the AoE nature of the spec and brings more group utility and support to the table. This way thieves would have a stronger appeal and value in group comps (like large WvW groups or small coordinate havoc groups, or dungeons or raids, etc) and would be able to bring something other than shortbow to the table.

Once I get my hands on the spec this weekend, I’ll have more input. But these are my thoughts ahead of time. Thanks!

Yes you can move while channeling the heal, Karl did this during the stream. Secondly the bound skill should stay leap but staff could be blast. Would be neat if you could do both like leap at the start and blast when you land.

I’ll never understand people’s hatred of zerker in this game when you can literally play & complete current content in any gear. I hear things like “playing brainless zerker all the time”. However zerker requires more awareness than face tanking in nomads gear…

Staff is perfectly fine in Honor. Although it doesn’t even synergize that well with other traits besides being a supportive weapon to begin with. But Staff would be perfectly fine in Virtues as well. Hammer is not.

Glacial Heart: Move to Valor master tier. (2h CDR should be master)
Stalwart Defender: Move to Virtues adept tier. (offhand CDR in adept tier)
Master of Consecrations: Move to master tier. Make the cooldown reduction baseline so moving this isn´t a big nerf to consecrations and make this trait buff consecrations in some fun way. Although I´m not sure what could be added to it

Shield doesn’t fit virtues much in my opinion. Consecrations should also stay where they are, they too important for group support. Lastly I still think honour is a better place for hammer, it has zero synergy with valour.

Guardian hammer and engie rifle got launch skills. They are different to knockback skills like point blank shot.

Pretty much this. But from what I recall I don’t think all knockback skills work on someone who’s down, the only exception I think is overcharged shot but I could be wrong. Nevermind overcharge is a launch.

Might be an intention to avoid spoiling these 2 until the reveal. They might still be thinking them over.

Also true. The good news is the next reveal will most likely be druid so we can see what Anet decided to do with the pet.

sorry but thief is already killing everyone in under 2 seconds from stealth when will we see a limit of crit dmg e.g. no crit should hit for more than 4k and no autoattack for more than 1k so we can actually fight and not be at half health in just under 1 second from start of fight ? and no I am not talking about cases where you are glass canon then its only one second I am talking about having 3k toughness and still getting hit by 8k crits … and please add an ingame report option to report overpowered highdmg builds

Not sure if you’re trolling but sounds like you need to learn to play against thieves. Also I’ve heard toughness is not as effective post patch either way stop trying to face-tank damage, make the thief’s job harder by aoe-ing and moving around.

What about switching Glacial Heart with Honorable Staff? Virtues is a lot about Boons so it would fit quite well.

Yea I forgot about mace…I think that switch would work seeing as you can cleanse with shouts if you wanna play cleric staff so missing the condi cleanse on resolve wouldn’t be too bad.

Trying to answer questions within this thread (when possible)… Per the question thread – Yes, it does stack. If you have Impacting Disruption equipped and interrupt a foe with Palm Strike, you’ll apply two strikes of Pulmonary Impact to the target.

They could move hammer to honour and merge it with protector’s impact (the fall trait). They should also replace Empowering might with Writ of persistence and make a new grandmaster.

Tempest Changes for Next BWE!

Another way they could approach auras/support with Tempest is making a trait like Necros Master of Corruption (without the self-debuffs) or the Mesmer’s Master of Fragmentation. The trait could be something like auras you apply are more effective. First all the auras would increase in duration and get a bonus. Fire- more might stacks per attack, water – less damage taken, magnetic – projectiles reflected cripple foes & shocking – increase stun duration by 1 second.

I thinking adding a 10% damage modifier to earthen proxy would be pretty neat too. So you gain more defense & offense.

The twist is that monks are garbage in that game…

Yea they aren’t top tier but are fun to player, however they are also really squishy like slayer. Concerning the DD animations, they aren’t too bad they just need a touch up here & there but I really want to see a different stance when wielding the staff (they could even change it for the revenant but make them unique). I’m also looking forward to some Tempest feedback, DH is on it’s way, but Tempest needs some work.

Except Mesmer phantasm aren’t in the mesmer’s complete control. Or at the very least the Phantasm shouldn’t penalize the player simply because those illusions are not the players. Anyways…

We just need to be careful how to dodge. Like extra careful, but that’s a challenge I am willing to deal with.

Best solution is for the devs to fix shadow refuge to let the thief (or anyone else) to leave early and not be revealed. Lol I could totally see them giving that ability to next thief spec (GM: Lingering Shadows: Gain Immunity to the next reveal (icd 10sec).

That’s why this game really needs armour and build templates….seriously Anet. But with the introduction of legendary armour this would be a bit redundant meaning we probably won’t see it anytime soon. But if the template is done well and includes runes & sigils it could still be done. If Arena needs some inspiration on templates they should look at Tera where they do it fairly well.

just saw the stream again on youtube and it was Fist Flurry that used up 4 init and not the daggers, still it makes no sense that a UTILITY skill uses init…

Actually I think both imparing and fist used it. Most likely a bug though.

I think the simplest way to fix the heal skill is to add a ground targeted shadow step to the heal upon activation then the skill flips over to the normal heal. This is probably the solution with the least amount of work involved if they want to keep everything the same. Even simpler is a heal that just shadow steps away and heals.

The mysterious 12th trait has been found – and I was right. It’s a 3rd type of dodge skill with power damage. Potential DPS increase for PvE use and just monstrous in general for anything else. This hits about as hard as a frontstab!

The thief dev has put some really interesting tweaks on the dodge mechanic. I now have hope for Tempest & DH. Well done devs (now pls fix acrobatics and shadow arts).
