I see any advice on none condition damage builds that give better results. I’m also looking for other ideas
! But thanks for your suggestion really appreciated.
So my thief been 80 for a long while now, since I main my warrior for pretty much everything I rarely touch him. So I decided to use him more often in WvW, since it is my favorite part of the game. I am way too used to me warrior so trying to get into a class with a whole different play style is making me a bit exited. But anyways, since I plan on fully gearing my thief in exotics asap I was wondering what gear people would recommend. I do have some experience as a Spvp thief, but I rather build something with more survivalvility, possibly a condition damage build. Would that work?
If so what gear would you recommend? Is temple armor viable (I have about 190k Karma on my thief) If not I can craft exotic leather. Between my characters I already have 400 in Jeweler, huntsman, leather worker and weapon smith. So crafting my own gear is also a viable option.
In any case thanks for the advice in advance.
What spec and gear, besides the double axe where have you placed our points so far and what traits did you pick? Is your gear in par with your level.
@Anon: Completely wrong right there, I leveled 2 warriors to level 80, all melee all with different weapons. I have done every story mode dungeon and almost every exploration mode dungeon, all the time in melee unless the fight requires otherwise. Hell I out survive 70% of the guardians I encounter lol.
You can wield a second weapon with a mace but not with a hammer.
Oh yes they were very good fights in a positive way. Guess this build would shine even more if they finally fixed the discipline tree passive effect to increase burst in higher numbers than 1 – 3%.
On a side note, I noticed i was doing really good even if neither of my weapons had runes and my accessory was still the condition damage oriented one… kitten #8230;.
Tested it before going to bed in spvp and a few tourneys so I guess the build by itself is really viable. Will try again today with proper gear and runes to see how it goes. Maybe even give it a try in WvW I got enough oris and other materials to make the exotic horn/axe.
Tested this build, had some of the most interesting fights ever, yet the over all reality is the adrenaline building power of this build is too quick, my eviscerate was still on cool down while I was already full on adrenaline again, this happened even when I kept using signet of rage active effect all the time.
Bad player makes a bad post… Waste of forums space. The build above is intriguing me though.
Warriors are awesome, unless you go SPvP there we get face rolled by other classes lol.
And the only reasons we never got nerfed is cause we are balanced in some areas and bugged/worthless in many others. Before taking the nerfing hammer to our side they should simply delete the class.
Now the over all problem.
Since our utilities and most of our skills are on high cool downs and bring little to the table we are forced to end using auto attacks more than any other class. This gives the over all design of the warrior a boring game play. As one of the game designers said in the manifesto trailer: “Hey I swung a sword, I swung a sword again…heyyyy…I swung it again…that’s just not fun…” That is what happens to warriors at the moment. Also add to this problem the fact that those boring swings are harder to hit than any ranged skill. If you fire your rifle while running around someone the bullets come sideways and hit as long as the enemy is within range. Our sword swings go forward that’s it you move we miss.
Lastly our main mechanic BURST. Doesn’t add anything, either it deals too little damage or you are better off not using it in other to have better heals and passive effects. Not to mention most of them barely hit due to the problem mentioned above. Not all are bad, rifle and log bow along with the hammer work as intended.
Spvp wise, the problem is not the warrior, is the ability to make bunker builds that makes most classes loose in comparison when playing any other build.
Had to divide this into 2 post
!
@zeyele: There is no “crying”, people just feel their class is in need of some fixing that’s all.
@Eddard: Elementalist are possibly the best designed class in the game. Can dish damage and condition damage through fire, heal with water, absorb damage with earth lalalala.
Now another break down. Warriors do have the highest Hp in the game, but armor isn’t a viable way to mitigate damage. Ranged classes get to kite, elementalist can put on earth shield and absorb damage, other classes get access to Aegis and Protection. All of these give a higher damage mitigation than armor. Since the warrior doesn’t have access to any damage mitigation other than armor and shield stance < which forces us to use a shield, the warrior suffers from much more damage than any other class.
Historically warriors are masters of war, be it through tactics, inspiration or brute force. Anet really nailed these in the warrior design but while it does look good on paper it doesn’t in practice. Why? Simple enough,
Brute force:
Physical skills:
Bullrush: Misses too much.
Bollas: Counts the new range created by a moving enemy as a range increase thus missing most of the time, sometimes it even goes in the wrong direction or hits a higher land and misses.
Kick: This should be a knockdown, instead it sends the enemy flying away, like if a warrior could create such a level of force against a fully armored healthy competitor.
Stomp: see above.
Now the inspirational part.
Banners:
All have good effects if spec into them. Problem? Their area of effect and buff duration is so limited it makes them close to useless. If picked up they replace your skill bar with useless skills. Their cool down is horrible and a bit more. This makes them a not viable as their town time is too great for their benefit and usually said benefits is none existent due to the miserable area of effect.
Shouts:
Are fine, even if shake it off should either remove more than one condition or send the condition back to whoever placed it on the warrior IF within the shout’s reach.
Now for the tactical part:
Signets: Every other class gets benefits from signets passive and active form. In the case of warrior the passive is no different yet the active leaves a lot to be desired. Our healing signet regeneration is great at low levels yet a high levels it barely heals enough to make any difference yet it’s active effect is so low it doesn’t make up for a healing slot. Mending removes conditions but again it’s healing value is way too low. Our only viable heal becomes our adrenaline oriented heal which either heals good if fully under full adrenaline or heals for crap if not full, this one comes with a higher cool down than the others. Signet of rage is a different story as it’s effect is great and has a decent cool down.
Stances:
Stances cool down is way too high, 180 seconds for some so on. These give little tactical advantage if used correctly but their cool down time is so high they barely become viable. Also in other to get quicken we take 50% more damage, this makes us way more soft than any glass cannon and makes it easy for most glass cannons to take us down within seconds. Someone mentioned we got higher def so we need to give more? Well thiefs get stealth to mitigate and land damage easier + their damage is sky high compared to a warriors and their skills got no cool down. We quicken and do a hundred blades. Big deal people can interrupt dodge or kite us. A thief can stealth teleport and land any skill he so wishes not only that but he can spam them.
Elites:
Signet of rage: Is perfect as it is.
Banner: Great skill under such a long cool down that you can barely use it or even think it exist making it not viable. In a dungeon with a good party you might get to use this twice as it will be under cool down any other needed time. For a few buffs that any other class can get for free in normal utilities and the ability to res which guardians can do on normal utilities as well. This skill got a way too long of a cool down.
Juggernaut: This skill was one of the things that inspired me to be a warrior pre release. But upon seeing it work is the worse skill ever created in any game I seen. It increases our max hp but doesn’t heal it. It gives us 5 new skills on top of our skills. You may say Wow that’s awesome but nop. You get to throw a stone. Such a long animation and slow projectile time that it can be ignored. You are taking damage while doing this. A bull rush which is the same as the bull rush utility. A kick…same as the utility…and a stomp again same as the utility. Not only are the animations slow, but their cool down is so long you will only get to use them once. They give you no advantage at all since everything they can do you can do on your normal form. Making this elite useless. Also you grow bigger…yeah that’s the greatest animation ever for a 30 skill point cost skill.
After reading all new replies I think the warrior could be fixed in a very simple way:
Increase the burst damage from GS Burst/Axe burst and a tiny bit in the sword. Or better yet increase the Range from GS burst and make it apply a knock down. Rifle, hammer. Long bow and mace are fine, even if the mace could use an increase in the effective range of the skills or make the animation follow the target.
Fix the bugs with vengeance and let it auto rally you 100% of the time in PVE.
Increase the Area of effect of banners or simply allow the buff to stay on anyone who was nearby it a little longer, say 30 secs? and reduce their cool down to 1 minute.
Fix our discipline tree to give +1% burst damage per point instead of 1% per 10 points.
Switch the crit causes vulnerability for crit causes poison or allow us to use poisons in our utilities. Really I wonder why they gave those to thief when they are pretty much useless to them while for a warrior they would be heaven.
Fix the range of our skills so they can actually hit without a mayor pain in the behind.
Fix the juggernaut skill to make us have more hp and damage but take more damage in return.
Reduce the cool down of our stances along with their penalties. I say 40 seconds is more than enough for all of them.
Over powered…lol…really people can’t learn to counter something or dodge it and they go saying is OP. Really wanna see an over powered skill? Look at that Moa ability mesmers have. They should make the kitten cool down eternal for that kitten. Dagger storm hits around you at a decent cool down, I pick thiefs guild any day over this kitten, even if I used it plenty in pve and a decent bit in WvW.
Nice work, a bit hard to understand with all the abbreviations but really nice job.
I carry: sword/shield/Long bow/Rifle/Greatsword and any horn i find lying around lawl.
I was going to carry 2 axes but in reality with my build great sword is enough of a damage pusher. Long bow is the siege/anti siege weapon to go. Rifle I use in one on one vs hard hitting long range targets and sword and shield = some block to escape and mobility by switching shield to horn.
This link sends me to a empty build. Still, I say it should be viable still the healing signet is worthless at high end content. Not only does it heals very little per tick compared to the amount of damage you be taking but it also has the lowest active heal of all.
Healing banners are a viable option in dungeons if you spec into them, my personally build atm is more of a buff stacking build for WvW and dungeons what not. works wonders in an all around way. Pulls 13 – 15k HB damage in pve.
1) People will quickly make guides, part of the event is discovering and sharing, what you expect ANet to say: Here is the event and the instructions in how to do em? Nop. Any MMO that launches a new event simply say: “LOL NPCS EVERYWHERE GO DO THE SAME OVER AND OVER” Here the events fr such a young game are very good and entertaining enough to make me want to participate in them. Something I never did in any other mmo.
2) Ever read here is patch notes for X day update? What you expected a mod to call you and say: Dude we got a new build going on lol!!!
3)Nerfing @ Classes will never end, why simple. If you make a class too over powered the others will become victims of this, specially in pvp. You may say OH BUT I DON’T CARE ABOUT PVP Y_Y" Well look at WoW, Guild recruiting lalala raid lalala only want shamans and ranged dps. Every other dps and most heals got sent to hell cause shamans and ranged dps could put do everyone else. Bam nerf needed asap.
Money making bla bla bla. It needs to be nerfed, perhaps you simply don’t understand how the world works. If something becomes a good source of money it will need to be nerfed or everyone will do it and thus decrease the value of the currency of the place. Want real life examples? Gold hunting, real estate investments, pyramid organizations. So on it goes.
4) Clearly you have no idea how programming works, specially not in games of this scale. This is not super Mario bros my friend. Making events work flawlessly take a truck load of work, look at any game this big, Skyrim is not even an online game and 60% of it is bugged. Look at any other game, online or off and you will always find bugs, is the devs work to fix them and guess what? Anet does exactly that.
Am I happy? Yes. Hell yes I am, I been gaming since the early 90’s and this game is one of the few that meets my expectations, is by no means perfect but perfection is an illusion cast upon the people by no other than themselves.
Imagine everything worked perfectly. People would still complain.
“Crafting is lameeeeeee i need to hunt mats Q_Q” < Even if crafting provides end game gear just like any other source.
“DUNGEONS ARE HARD T_T” What you want a walk in the park?
“No trinity whaaaaah!!!!” Didn’t they told you the game was based on that from the start?
“I bought keys and no skin Q__Y WAhhhhh!!!!” Is a gamble? They stated that…. is like buying a lottery ticket and then saying: "Stupid government told me I was gonna become a millionaire by buying this…I spend 20 bucks won nothing
!
So get real. Enjoy the game and wait for things to be fixed.
They work very well if spec correctly. They aren’t a face roll but in both pvp and pve they are one of the best builds I have used on my warrior. The only problem I have is Sword #5 fix that and dual swords will be my perma build.
@Jabronee: That’s where you wrong, melee in WoW = macro macro macro, over all nothing but 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 macros galore double taping. Rift = EVEN MORE MACROS. Search any guide on any class, you get no explanation only macros also the kitten game reaction time to a key press is beyond horrible. GW2 got a casting so you know an animation is going on and let you know you can interrupt said animation at any given time. /castcancel in your macro?
Also if you take macros out and go WoW you will see stupid slow casting bars in warriors as well, such as when you use Slam. Go warrior without macros on RIFT or even with macros, -press X to use C- character takes his time to react does the same animation for everything and then takes his time again for my next command.
I enjoy making exotic weapons in the Mystic forge with my coins, even as a weapon smith I find the skins more appealing than those I craft. dyes and stuff become useful when I can combine em into something different so over all I really like it.
I barely see the random gold seller anymore if at all, which is a great first step.
Bots are slowly turning rarer at least in WvW, I will keep reporting them in hopes they keep getting reduced.
As for the article goes, sounds very one sided lol, if he thinks a guild with KKK is racist, he would think WoW community is the KKK itself, or the Nazis party as going there and not seeing a kitten racist joke or sexist comment is like not seeing a kitten Tauren paladin in Ogrimar lol.
Ty for the answer, forgot that detail.
People doesn’t seem to realize that tokens buy end game armor. Is pretty much having all the tier gear with different looks so people can actually wear what they like with high end stats. Crafting is a great way to gear and level, over all comparing it to WoW is like comparing an orange to a lemon. Dungeons, some are fun some have stupid mechanics, rewards from chest are garbage but you get a decent amount of Karma, money and tokens for completing them. Tokens become 80 exotic armor or weapons. Karma can become crafting ingredients, any level gear and another set of choices for exotic armor. Gold become the normal currency of trading, over all this is not a problem. Every game got different currencies this is so people can obtain gear the way they want. So over all all comments on dungeons not rewarding enough is B.S. Same goes to crafting, not only do craft end game stats but you get to pick the stats that are best for you.
Magic finding gear is there for people who wants to farm, if you aren’t a farmer then ignore it. Many of my guildmates go crazy over magic finding, they love getting ectos and sharing with the guild. Me, I got 0% magic find.
Story started good, except asura that one sucked from the start, yet reality is a decent story. Over all the story got it’s ups and down, yet the mayor down is the fact that it turns from a personal character story into a Game story near the mid point.
Combat is by far the best I seen. If you are a competitive person, you will love this, if you are a classic MMO player who wants like 32 keys or 5 macros to lol with a ranged class then you will not like this game, things are close to very balanced. Specially in world vs world and pve, the SPvP and Tpvp needs some work but yeah.
Also Anet is not staying alive because of no monthly fee, they staying alive cause the mayority of the pvp players enjoy this game, also many people who are bored of the classic MMO enjoy it. If you are a huge fan of old school grind then by all means people should go for it.
So, I’m trying to give my character a different aesthetic look, since i’m already in full exotics and what not. Now I’m really interesting in combining parts from the Order of Whispers and The Vigil. Question is, can I transmute the skin to another heavy armor and pass the new product to another character in order to transmute the skin into another gear? Like you can do with other items? Or are armor skins from these factions not affected by the transmutation stones?
@Hals Warrior: Cause he is discussing a warrior animation issue?
Problem is rifles aren’t entertaining weapons, you can make it a very old musket though and make the animation of a warrior standing there loading his weapon. This isn’t entertaining either. Making animations more “entertaining” is nice a few times, then it becomes annoying and boring just as boring animations stay boring as time passes.
Yep is +3% at the end with 30 points spent lol.
PVE wise I enjoy the large arsenal of weapons we have, I enjoy being able to decent melee damage in dungeons and give a some support with healing shouts. I also enjoy the fast phase damage dealing curve and combination attacks of the GS.
No to mention warrior got to down your whole team “miracle” he dies and you all rally. Free rally from your vengeance filled warrior. Now here comes the best part! He waits 17 secs in the floor, respawns and guess wut? Yeah he takes a step and dies. So that’s another 17 secs on the floor. We are so OP!!!!
Endure pain with damage reduction? Our damage is garbage as it is, make thiefs being unable to move in stealth, make elementalist able to switch elements every minute only, hell make mesmers make only one clone at the time, do all this and you will understand what you trying to do to the warrior.
@Acme Tux Serum Six You clearly never played a warrior in pvp, hell even in Pve. Our burst skills rarely reach the 4 digit unless is the axe in which case if spec fully offensive and crits can deal somewhere around 4k? On a full defense around 2k? Now go to the sword, full hits some crits you get around 9xx damage. Now most of your traits and your more powerful heal becomes useless.
@Ravnodaus G.S Damage comes from Hb, HB can’t hit for kitten against any player with a brain. In PVE is a great skill in pvp no. Axe damage is pathetic even for the heavy damage dealer in the one handed side. I fought an engineer in a damage oriented build with axes, his elixir healing was laughing at my damage and couldn’t take him pass 75% hp, that is by combining with hammer CC, bullrush so on. So on. Also remember these hits are melee. So if you get kited you can’t really deal any damage, he however was just loling at my damage output right there.
Bleeds on warrior aren’t sustainable, mainly cause most of our skills that cause them are horribly design. Our auto attack puts two bleeds good, now if you want more you need to go to an off hand sword. Both off hands swords are a real pain in the kitten to use, further more going into a condition damage build that actually damages requires you to avoid pretty much every other stat, this is fine if we were a ranged condition damage class but we are not.
The over conclusion is, people discussing here don’t want the warrior to be an over power killing machine. We want the warrior to be useful and better designed. Again if you take a loot at our skills they all the same. Get might/swiftness/fury or Stability for X seconds. Now that sounds good until you see their awful cool downs, this leads the warrior to become an auto attack machine. Banners and what not simply don’t keep up with a team because they are stand still in a small area effect. And again our damage is laughable. Is not that we want to deal more melee damage than anyone, thief should stay that way, but we are predictable, low damage dealing and with no support. This combined with a stressful learning curve due to our melee having little range and long animations is what made us make this thread.
I got killed by a ball of ranger bots in WvW. Seriously you can’t imagine how lame it is to die to like 20 sharks protecting a ball of bots. And I mean literally a ball…
If you lower the health regained from healing meditations or take out the healing meditation all together, guardian will be the most balanced class in the game. But look at it as it is, you make bunker build with meditations nothing can kill you in pvp except for thiefs and maybe mesmers. Make any other builds and things flow as intended.
Personally I would buff the scepter damage output, since guardians need some love during sieges in WvW.
So far I'm not satisfied with Warrior damage. Does anyone have any advice?

@Otaur: Lol…have you tried earth and water…bad people will always be bad, trying to play a class that got everything given to and comparing it to a class that got nothing and saying the warrior is better really makes you a bad player. Nothing that can’t be solve, is all in practice and common sense.
@Okamakiri: Sure there is, but do I care about it? No. Go enjoy your PVE and let the big boys handle the competitive areas of the game.
@Ljiona: Mesmers can destroy a warrior easily, unless the person behind it have no idea wtf they doing, a GOOD thief can do so easily too, so goes for bunker guardians engineers. Both have so much healing behind them that you can’t really damage them unless you go full glass cannon, but guess what? Full G.C. means they be dealing heavy damage on you while sustaining higher defenses thus winning. Elementalist with decent element dancing can destroy a warrior for the same reasons engineers can.
Take guardians out of the Bunker build and you have a normal good class. Put them in a bunker build with healing meditations and god save us all. Not as bad as the mesmer but still way too high in the healing department.
So far I'm not satisfied with Warrior damage. Does anyone have any advice?

I lol’ed at the whole second class with highest damage and highest defense. Pretty much every class out there absorb as much or more damage then us. Even clothies. We do have the highest hp yes, but that hp goes down fast as the wind, even if spected to have high toughness.
We only achieve such high damage on very glass cannon classes played by players who are still inexperienced. HB everyone dodges as the combo is predictable like no other. Stances have too much of a cool down, in fact every utility we have got insane cool downs. So if the poster is happy with big numbers and dying a lot against a real thread. Good for him.
Thief damage imo is at the point where every melee class should be. They have stealth to make up a tiny bit for their glass bodies, which makes them rather balanced in a certain way. Specially since bunker builds will sponge that damage down to normal thread. Warriors on the other hand only get high numbers from going suicidal with attacks that everyone predicts. So yeah.
I seen most of it in orr karma vendors. I think I got the shoulders from a story reward.
They can help you survive in dungeons. Open world pve, get dual axes, great sword so on so on.
Some encounters will force you to do ranged combat, the rifle is very viable depending on the encounter. However once you reach the high end settings you will do much better with a none glass cannon melee build. I usually melee most of the dungeons unless forced to range and then simply retire to range when I’m low on health waiting for my healing shouts/main heal to be available.
Today I was doing some SPvp and got auto balanced to the other team, I went to destroy their trebuchet but couldn’t damage it, instead the trebuchet counted me as an ally and allowed me to fire it.
Screen Added.
Remember they also have many other defensive passive skills. Like aegis and what not. Other classes also got protection along with pretty much every buff in the game lol.
1) We relay solely on auto attacks, the over all mechanics are repetitive and close to useless. No support, in fact you can say the warrior feels like a bot.
2) I will make a list of ideas I had long ago.
The warrior itself: The warrior is suppose to be a master of weapons and front line combat. By this description you will think: Oh then he will have an arsenal of weapons to choose from and will be able to swap between them in combat, making him a really reliable melee class? Reality: We can swap between two weapons like everyone else can, our weapons have the worse designed skills of all classes too.
How would I fix this?
For starters, burst skills should have their damage increased, for many of them I’ll go as far as saying in a 400% or more. Have the damage increase per adrenaline level trait in our power tree become a passive ability of the warrior that is there all the time and remove this from the traits list. This way the warrior deals more damage as he enrage in battle. And increase the numbers to 10/20/30% damage increase. With our current damage being laughable and the fact that we can’t really hit unless we trail our victim all over this damage boost shouldn’t be an over power.
Give the sword/condition damage builds more conditions. An utility that allows your weapons to cause poison for example would be very useful. As it can cripple other classes healing. Also make other sword attacks stack bleeds into the enemy.
Make every main weapon attack a chain attack that doesn’t reset when another skill is used, this will keep warriors making new combos with said attacks rather than spamming #1, make these attack a low cool down based attack and leave the other attacks such as off hand weapon have a longer cool down to balance it up. Also make these attack more mobile and less predictable.
Change the: “When you use an attack that causes cripple you cause 1 second immobility” to cause 3 seconds immobility. 1 Second isn’t enough to cause any damage and most classes can immobilize you easily.
Make banners have a larger AoE area, allow the warrior to pick them and carry them around without changing skill bars, similar to how samurai carried their lords banner on their back.
Increase the amount of damage we heal with our heals. 6.4k when a warrior got like 25 – 30k hp, seriously… 9.8 with our highest heal and only if full adrenaline? C’mon everyone else heals and you see thir hp go full again.
Increase our base toughness….we are too much of glass cannon even in full toughness builds. And increase our base damage by at least 20%
Shouts should apply debuffs, also have more beneficial bonus.
Warhorn skills should cause better conditions and even deal some damage when used. As well as grant real buffs. Swiftness and Vigor…really?
Stances…omfg…stances…They need to do something real…We don’t need more gain adrenaline skills…we don’t need quickness if it makes us die in a second. We don’t need immunity to damage every other fight. Stances got too much of a long cool down, too little of a duration and barely any benefit at all.
The most important of all. Make the kitten attack range longer. If we throw our axe to cripple a foe who is running it feels like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons was the one who thrown it instead of my muscle bag warrior. This makes kiting us a joke.
Fix the kitten juggernaut and make our elite grant bigger buffs or stop making them all buffs, make them something that is useful!
Add some defensive buffs to our abilities, we don’t need to be as defensive as guardians but more might and swiftness here and there and over there too is not making us any better. While guardian can give like every buff in the game…many are passive too !!!
Make shield bash a knock down.
Make Vengeance work property and not give a free rally to people. Also make the kitten hammer work better with a lower cool down.
Make the hammer swings faster and with higher damage.
Make the kitten block skills become active block during combat instead of I’m standing here letting you know I will block you.
There is more but I’m lazy to go on.
My problem with Trahearne is that he seems to take the story over. Personal story stop being personal once the whole Destiny’s edge and Order picking comes along. Personally, I dislike all the members of destiny’s edge, for a bunch of epic heroes they sound more like a bunch of kinder garden kids. Now the fact that every dungeon is you helping them makes things even less enjoyable for me. Then there is Trahearne, he gets an epic sword, a central story figure position and eventually becomes a sponge of epicness. He does nothing, yet he gets everything. Leaving the hero, eh you, as another dude who made him succeed from the shadows.
Uniting the races was good, but it should have been done in a whole different way, same goes with the orders. If anything I had made the personal story a path oriented ever changing quest rather than a Pick this or this and either way it will lead to this with a different npc.
I want to see them wearing a falcata. A halberd would be rather nice as well.
Daggers, rapiers and kukris maybe. Great axes is a most.
I do WvW as well, I do incredibly good on it. Still doesn’t mean because you can hide behind the zerg the warrior doesn’t need a buff. WvW is good, is probably my favorite part of the game but saying warriors can 1 v 1 ANY class gives me the idea you have a lot of fun killing those false 80 all the time. I can do 7 v 1 no problem since I am geared and spec better than they are, now 1 v 1 to an equal, sure I win most of the time, but certain classes simply face stomp you anyways
.
And by hiding our flaws behind a zerg I mean, we can deal decent aoe damage with a long bow when the #3 skill is off cool down. We can kill the random dude who is roaming around alone. There it’s where everything ends.
I’ll expand it for you. TPvP is where people need extreme team work to win. Completely different from SPvP where people join to test builds practice, see what their class is like at 80 or simply stomp on n00bs. Now here comes the first problem. TPvP as well as SPvP is a domination game. These games tend to be fun when fast phased and team work oriented. Think Battlefield 3 Conquest mode. Now with the current state of the game, bunker builds such as guardians can whole a point against a whole team long enough for the team to come and help wipe the other team. Think campers with burst weapons or quick scoping in Call of Duty games. This takes away team work and makes people want to go for the mentioned class more often leaving other classes in the shadows.
Now here comes problem #2. While a guardian can suck damage like a sponge and deal heavy damage mostly AOE damage the warrior can only deal “decent” damage if he is full glass cannon. in other words he jumps in and dies. Most of our skills require heavy positioning and tracking, in other words any class that can move in any direction or immobilize us can destroy us. And guess what? ALL classes can. So while people whine that an element dancing elementalist is hard. “Oh please anyone who played an mmo before knows this # of keys are a joke” warrior have the real skill challenge as something as simple as landing a hit is a hard struggle.
Now here comes point #3 Support. People say necros are under powered and left behind cause their conditions can be cured, but even then necros can survive more than warriors and their condition have have an impact on the fight. Elementalist can aoe heal while tanking and dealing damage and ccing. Guardians lol…don’t get me started on them. So on the list goes. What can the warrior do? Put a banner…that gives 1 buff or some lame regeneration IF spec into it. Then said banner goes into an incredibly long cool down. The area of effect is almost melee. Even if spec to cover a bigger area the banner doesn’t do anything as the enemy can simply kite the fight somewhere else. Shouts…spec into making them heal…they suck on their own, and the amount they heals doesn’t even compare to the amount all other classes can aoe heal. Not mentioning you need to be almost in melee for them to affect anyone.
Signets are self buffs, horrible self buffs while at it. Stances are the same as signets, but with 90 seconds/60 seconds cool down for a 7 seconds buff. Which just happen to come with a nasty debuff for the only useful one
!
Our elites: Juggernaut doesn’t exist, it should be taken off the list seriously arena net was smoking gasoline when they created this. Signet of rage is the only half viable one and it feels more like a normal skills than an elite, compare it to any class elite and you will this the same. The banner can res people and add the same lame buffs other classes give from normal utilities.
Now you can spec around into different things, but none of them will lead anywhere solid. I done it all, hammer control build with axe/mace off. Condition “bleeding” builds. Great sword glass cannon, pure survivalbility, healing shouts and banners. All of it, none gives near decent results. People keep saying HB is op or should become a kitten burst skill, but HB never hits, and if it does people WILL dodge most of it. Unless they rolling on a bad pc or have their hand tied.
I forgot to mention physical utilities. Those…deal no damage and are either bugged or have absolutely no use. Throw bolas? 90% of the time they will miss or the enemy will be out of range by the time they are about to hit. Bull rush? Chances are the game will force target a mesmer clone, eng. turrent or something if it hits? Then what u HB and the enemy dodge half of it? Stomp…yeah sure I am a melee who wants his enemies away from him…brilliant. Only use this while trying to get someone off my downed partner and even then with stability this becomes useless.
There is more like our bugged traits and our main trait point increasing burst damage by OMFG 3%!!!!! If maxed. Also the useless of most of our traits and the bugs we have to deal with. Not to mention if you vengance down someone and die right after you auto rally everyone and their mom. Respawn death and re wait your spawn timer again.
Another epic point: Cool downs: Yup regardless of weapons, all of our cool downs are melee hits, auto attacks with a different animation even so they have horrible cool downs. Thus warrior ends being a 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,3,4,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 -minutes later- 7 miss 8 OHHHH, ,1,1,1,1,1,….10….yeah why did I do that for again…oh I revived someone…I’m so useful!!! ,1,1,1,1.
Today a mesmer told me keep practicing and you be a good pvp player like me. I almost wanted to stomp my boot on his face. But yeah, some classes just have it easy as he who control the battlefield controls victory and warriors can’t even control themselves.
PvE f’ed ? How I been pveing with my thief a lot lately while i teach my friend the ropes of the thief and I have 0 to -10 problems with them. In fact thiefs seem like one of the most viable pve classes I have played, one of the most enjoyable too. Hell I even enjoy Orr with him!!! And I thought that was impossible!
You might never be as godly as me indeed, but you can at least be decent and succeed.
I have no problems with this, I never used assassin’s signet and had no problems dealing with people.
Warriors aren’t bad in WvW thats why…in tournament pvp you need every edge available to you regardless of skill level. So even if you are a good player you know you will do better as another class that’s all.
Another round of nerfs for retaliation but Thief still hitting too hard
in Thief

Mother of god those are some really low settings, I almost thought I was looking at a whole different game >_<!!!!
As for the numbers, you are a glass cannon in bad gear against a thief with 3 orbs and possible outside resources. What do you expect? Him using everything to hit you for like mmmm 2000 damage? While you hit for the same with no buffs? People need to stop Q_Qing and start learning what balance is all about.
