Technically yes, you will have the same chances of progress of a person who been doing WvW for a long time.
It is possible to fully gear in WvW, you will be earning money for capping stuff and killing individuals along with badges and Karma. You can gather low tier materials from boderlands and mid high tier materials from the Eternal Bg, so you can craft yourself stuff with those materials in other to boost your exp pool and get geared quicker while keeping a balance between gear and level.
As mentioned before battles will depend a lot on the tier of your server. T1 is way more organize, active and got Ques I believe. While lower tiers are either 1 server pwning the other 2 while another struggles and the last is technically nowhere to be found. This balance itself as it goes up in tiers though.
Personally I leveled by doing WvW and Crafting with the materials I got from there, my armor I got from the temples in Orr by saving my karma, as a legendary weapon is honestly a waste of time imo. “Don’t like the skins, no better stats and no entertaining way to get it lol!”
Not to mention you can turn your cripples into an immobilize, my fave trait on the warriors arsenal of anti easy mode.
….still….warrior does insane damage
Yeah, but they give up condition removal/healing/defences to do it.
you want those? go play a guardian
The problem with your statement is, condition removal/healing/defense > insane damage any day.
Conditions make the warrior unable to deal this insane damage, take more damage and loose hp constantly.
Healing allows you to get all that insane damage healed back, also most of this damage come from burst thus after is done and you heal the warrior pretty much becomes a burn battery.
Defense makes insane damage high damage, protection turns high damage into moderate damage. And Aegis turns this moderate damage into a gag of moderate damage.
So before you go with a simple response, like go play X class, take a moment to think balance is the key to success.
Oh I play both sides of the “soldier” type class, honestly the only thing I wish I had from guardians is their animations…most of the warrior animations make us miss our attacks due to the the lay down of the map. While a guardian simply gets there magically, so he barely suffers from this.
Uhhh. Warriors get 12.5 seconds of invulnerability if traited right. They get balanced stance. They can keep up swiftness indefinitely between their elite signet and a banner while traveling between places plus their banner has a charge to boot. Their hammer has a 2 second aoe stun. Their heal removes 2 conditions and if your really desperate for condition removal they have a signet that removes all conditions. They have the highest base armor/hp. They have two gap closers on their GS. They can block and if traited reflect projectiles with their shield. The ranger #3 GS movement skill is affected by cripple. I think the Guardians GS #3 movement skill is affected by cripple as well. They have an immobolize with with longbow #5 and bolas plus a 2 second knockdown with bulls charge and hammer #5 which they can follow up with frenzy and hundred blades. Comparing the warrior who has the highest base armor/hp to an elementist who has the lowest base armor/hp probably isn’t fair.
>That is if trailed into it, balance stance also has a long cool down.
> So we waste a banner to run around? We got many sources of swiftness but so does almost every other class. Also, banner have a cool down which makes the use of them as a traveling mechanic a stupid idea at most, unless you stole the banner off some random warrior…yeah people can simply pick up our utilities and lol their way to a faster travel. I think Anet forgot how many trolls and kittens exist in the internet…
>AoE Stun that any decent player expects and will dodge lol.
>The heal that removes 2 conditions barely heals at all, unlike other classes who can get 60 – 80% of their health back with almost every heal our only good heal requires us to have full adrenaline, thus making the signet of heal and mending I think was the name quite useless, sure we can use shake it off for a random condition remove which will very likely remove your about to end cripple rather than those 18 bleed stacks…we can use a signed to remove all conditions just to get em back on during the cool down as our cool downs are quite higher than a passive effect.
> We can reflect projectiles with our shield, my favorite trait of all, yet this only affects classes who actually shoot at you, which is close to none as people already learn how to play their class, back in the day you could destroy dual gun thieves and volley warriors, hell even almost every ranger around, but those days are long gone my friend.
>So?
>Pretty much every class got some way of immobilize, hell, we are melee oriented, warriors and guardians should have a truck loaded with roots just as most classes got trucks loaded with escape mechanisms lol.
>Bolas and bull rush tend to miss more than they hit, same goes to shield bash. Sadly since those were some of my fave skills…
>Frenzy and hundred blades is always expected, most enemies focus on simply dodging the cc and those who don’t would die from a normal HB anyways lol!
Sure isn’t since the uptime, damage, cc and versatility of elementalist makes them way out of our league. I’m a quite good warrior, I wouldn’t say OMFG so good but I can win against almost every person I fought or come close to do so, when fighting mesmers, people with equal skills will usually beat me, this is due to the massive burst and confusion they can deal to me, I don’t roll on berserkers gear so I am no glass cannon, mesmers can cc, stealth and deal damage like no tomorrow so is not about knowing which one is real is about staying on that real, since they got access to better escape mechanisms they can disengage and re engage as they need. Thus making a mesmer a really hard target for warriors.
On the elementalist side, the amount of cc, self healing, movement, engage and disengage array of skills gives them such an uptime, flexibility and mobility that even if you play your warrior to perfection your damage just won’t keep up, thus you are only delaying the inevitable. Sure bad elementalist will drop like flies but this applies to bad warrior and bad everything lol!
I never seen warriors sucking in any department except maybe having as many possible builds as many other classes do, this referring to how many of the possible utility/traits combinations seems to be decent but not good enough.
I do great with my warrior in all aspects of the game, but since you are asking about WvW, well warriors absolutely kitten 1 v 1 unless is a an elementalist then you are really kitten, 1 v X is doable depending on the quality of the enemies, as for massive zergs go if you coordinate with your team you will be doing massive amount of damage while being quite mobile and having some sweet escape mechanisms, you can bring a certain level of control and support or a truck load of damage, also defending with long bow can dish a lot of AoE burst to assist your team with defense.
Yet as someone who constantly fight other warriors in WvW I must tell you this, 8 out of 10 warriors are horrible and should re roll asap, 1 our of those 10 is decent but needs some extra muscle memory training and the last one is the one warrior that will make you scream “OMFG WARRIORS ARE SO OP T_T!!!!”
Whichever group you end up in depends solely on you. But this applies to every class out there.
Personally I use PTV, over all this mix does it all if combined with some berserker pieces. The build let’s me take a lot of damage while dealing a lot of damage right back at my enemies. My build is 20/0/20/30/0 and run around with runes of the soldier, as I roll a healing shout build.
Zerker gear is alright if you can keep up with the dodging but over all you will do better by combining knights and valkyrie pieces with zerker weapons.
For starters I’d like to point that the link to your build seems to be broken, or at least for me says “bad link”. Now after watching the video this looks a lot like the build I used to use when I still rolled a ranger, back on beta lol, I am now lvling a ranger and since I haven’t play in a while I would really like to see your build and give it a test drive sometime soon.
Either way it seems really nice!
Hum I would go with:
Raptor > Could have have some knock down maybe some bleed applying skills?
Those griphons from WvW: I dunno they just cool…
Maybe some tigers, panthers, linx lala are awesome but tigers are just boss. lol
Sounds like the sword/dagger build I used to play way back when the game was new and a ranger was my main. It can be really devastating if played correctly. I also fought a few ranger with sword/axe which gave me quite the fights.
I wish pets would interupt themselves less oftem, if they fixed that I would totally go this path.
I would love my warrior doing what my ranger does and I would love my ranger doing what my warrior does, I guess is cause the animations would fit well with my shield…while the warrior sword would fit well with my ranger’s horn or dagger.
But even then the animations do fell a little too over the top, specially since sometimes I miss my target thanks to them…
I got a Charr warrior and a human warrior. Charr definitely looks more kitten as a warrior, if you can afford t3 cultural then norn also looks amazing.
Warriors are amazing as long as you can play em correctly just like every class. Remember most people who come into the forums got no idea what they doing, I say 9 out of every 10 warriors who frequenter the forums still roll wvw in berserk gear spamming frenzy with 100 blades and expecting to pwn everything. Same goes to Tpvp/spvp. I got 2 warriors, probably would get a 3rd if it wasn’t cause I draw no joy from lvling alts anymore. But yeah warriors are great
!
Bad players got to complain. I left the game for about a month now come back and see people still Q_Qing about warriors. Let me tell ya this, I PvE/PvP/WvW on my warrior I do incredibly well on all 3 with my warrior. I also own some other 80s but none of them give me the versatility and plain raw power my warrior gives me.
WvW wise I can kill anyone one on one, can destroy people in multiple enemies vs me alone. I can solo supply camps without breaking a sweat and can two man towers if they aren’t massively defended of course, this is referring to the tower npcs themselves." A well spec defensive warrior can completely go through a dungeon exploration mode without dying at all “There are some exceptions of course” he can bring additional dps boost and heals with either shouts or banners.
I never use bolas or frenzy I use an axe and a shield with a Great sword for bursting. Greatsword skill #5 seems to still be buggy while searching for target and the burst skill is still too low damage with no good effects to add to it but all other skills in the great sword are amazing if used correctly timed correctly and over all used the way a pro can use them. The over all reality is, warrior isn’t for everyone. Ask your doctor if you are 1337 enough for it. If you aren’t then go play an elementalist and convince yourself elemental dancing take skills lol.
Really warriors are the FOTM? We must be a really bad flavor since I barely see any outside fail spvp matches lol!
Even if we didn’t get our critical bugs fixed “Warrior player here” I am happy with the changes made, specially since this shows that Anet is actually working on improvements. The over all change to down state really made my life shine so I will over look the rest and keep loving the mods for making that change.
Where is this? I wanna see for myself lol!
Comparing profit vs work/time spent on them. HELL NO!
If you are a skin collector or you like them then sure go for it, but for me they aren’t.
I face rolled my thief to lvl 80 and let me tell you even my warrior felt squishier than him lol. People seem to say thief are squishy but after lvl 20 or so if you build correctly you will faceroll through content like crazy.
< This song been my “Battle song” since I started doing hardcore pvp years ago.
Simple, companies don’t give info because such info can compromise the future of a product, if apple said tomorrow the Iphone 6 will have let say a 10 inches wide 20 inches long screen “exaggerating indeed” companies like Samsung could use this to their advantage by coping and copy righting said material, also people love to speculate thus creating an atmosphere of mystery helps the hype.
Also there is the fact that the company might take another drastic decision about said product and suddenly change it whole, people then might loose faith and not want the product anymore. Marketing is all about secrecy and exaggeration, don’t believe me go ask Apple lol!!!
Well it was sort of a sequence of events.
>We won’t the match against GoM and AR, very good week that was, people in the server suddenly had an Ego boost that made my own ego feel like an ant next to an elephant.
>Bunch of people bought the commander title.
>Said bunch of people don’t know wtf they doing.
>Many new people started to become acid, mainly insulting our commanders “The ones that actually command”
>Lots of childish Q_Q in team chat.
>Lots of new Commanders Rage quitting all over the place.
>Most of the good players and good commanders lost hope and left.
>We are left with waste of cash commanders who rage quit every time something doesn’t go their way and a bunch of foul mouthed kids who complain about things like AR having too many mesmers or thiefs…
>"I hate GoM!!!" becomes common in team chat.
>Server feels death.
I haven’t seen any gold sellers lately, haven’t pve much so can’t say if there is any change in bots numbers but I do see something being done which makes me really happy.
I agree with everything the OP said, I been gaming for years and is very sad how the industry has gone so soft on people. My first real MMo experience was Ragnarok online, unless you can to add the Diablo series as MMos. Back in Ro, you needed to grind just to grind, everything was a pain to the point people started to release private servers with insane rates, yet every time a new boss was released, people would spend weeks even months planning how to tackle it, success was so sweet words couldn’t describe it. The final goal of the game was a competitive GvG war know as the war of emperium, back then people were dedicated to no end, spending weeks farming items for said events, waking up at 3 am to WoE and going back to bed to work the next day, over all both communities and the learning curve were way higher than they are today.
I truly am thankful for having experienced that game as it made me such a much better gamer and believe it or not a way better person as well. When I tackled WoW I kept hearing people say Raids were for the elite, they were hard some kind of incredible content only the true pros could handle. I always played warriors or warrior like characters in every game, this one included, so I was a tank for WoW, my first raid I felt like i was carrying the whole guild on my back, I couldn’t believe how easy this “elite” content was.
From there many games got on my way, such as rift, aion, lineage 2 bla bla bla, yet none ever gave me that challenge. GW2 gave a little bit of a challenging environment, The game on it’s core is simple, but at the same time it got a certain degree of complexity that I really enjoy. I love how building my warrior keeps giving me new possibilities behind the class mechanics, I don’t blame the game itself for the people who say builds I boring, I blame the people themselves, look around, 9 out of 10 guardians are bunkers, 8 out of 10 necros are conditionmancers, 9.9 out of 10 warriors are GS/Rifle stance users who try to one shot you. There are many builds way better than those, but those are simple and successful, which isn’t as bad as WoW where one build ruled them all, even worse…3 trees and only one build for each…one would be good for pve, one for pvp and one for being ignored.
GW2 is young, devs got a lot of bugs to fix, a lot of content to add, personally I say making the World bosses any easier would be the same as saying the dragon would land on his head, break his neck and shoot loot off his kitten Dungeons could use some serious mechanic twiching as they are not challenging they are just walk against the wall and keep trying like. Annoying is a good word for it.
Warriors aren’t under or over power. We are perfectly balance, want to kill someone in a few secs, make a combo that will not only make you the mother of all glass cannons but makes you useless right after and is easy to dodge. We can bunker without becoming un-killable, we can support without making every other build useless. We got decent ccs, but they aren’t impossible to dodge also we got no AI creatures or machines to assist us, nor can we stealth or do heavy kiting, over all a warrior is defined by the player behind it and the knowledge he posses.
I have never had a problem with thiefs or guardians or even mesmers in WvW one on vs them, I’m talking about full 80 in full exotics. Now in Spvp you will see the massive ganging thief tend to do with each other and due to the size of the maps and the very limited amount of tactics you can actually use to your advantage mesmers tend to over kill most warriors, if it wasn’t because they got more control over the battle than any other class they would fall easily. Yet stealth + massive kiting + massive conditional damage makes them over powered in spvp.
@Hadan: Yup borlis is pretty much death. Took my and my guild mates 2 and a half hours to find 1 PUG for CM exp mode lol, WvW we got too much Q_Q and bad players to really make a difference or an enjoyable environmental. Not only is borlis killing my WvW experience but my whole GW2 experience with it.
@Everyone else. I really appreciate all of your replies, didn’t expect so many or such good ones either. I will pass this information on to my guild mates and let them decide. Again I really appreciate the time you all took to post.
Thank you both for the replies, I will keep forwarding the information to my guildmates, discuss it and then decide.
I enjoy the warrior, mainly for the flexibility in play style. I can give support, or go more offensive/defensive or do all at once without much sacrifice. IF you can learn the playing curve you will enjoy WvW as a warrior a LOT.
I been playing in Borlis Pass since release, mainly cause my GF randomly picked the server since almost everything else was full. For the most part the server was good at the begging. But things deteriorated fast, then went up and down and so on endlessly. Normally I am very loyal to the community I join, but Borlis community has slowly become very acid to say the least. Personal attacks against the commanders in WvW, massive Q_Q, not only Q_Qing but kitten style Q_Qing like: “AV pwn us cause they got many thiefs and mesmers.”
I’m a very competitive person and also an adult gamer, so I have no time for childish people ruining my over all game experience, this combined with the lack of common sense and personal skill of most of the server made me and my guild want to move. Originally my guild was the only thing holding me to Borlis, but since from 200+ member we went to about 15? We the few who still play decided to move on.
Now leaving the old story behind here is how I am. I roll a warrior, 80, fully gear for most of my builds, name Gervase. Anyone who fought Borlis might have fought me 1 on 1, I’m the warrior rolling with tier 1 human armor and a CoF helm who always bows when I win. I’m not a commander, I don’t want to be one, I follow instructions and cooperate as much as I can for the over all good of the server. “Something that is incredibly hard in borlis atm.”
I be moving with about 5 – 7 members from my guild, we play around 2am to 10pm server time since we all have a harsh server time difference to our own time zone. Not interested in EU servers, also not interested in any top tier or large Que server, I don’t want to make anyone’s experience worse by adding myself to their numbers, nor do I want to destroy my own experience with harsh ques.
We are all over 25 years old, so a mature community is preferred. If the server has a decent pve community as well that is always a plus.
Thank you in advance for your replies and sorry for my bad english.
I love using fear me against people who are near cliffs!
Also if you inflicted some damage before you still get loot from suiciders.
Personally I think WvW only needs 2 mayor changes. That aren’t all that mayor to begin with:
1) It needs it’s own armor skin, such a generic look for such a hard amount of work is just absurd.
2) Server transfers need to be paid for. Unless you going to a lower tier server.
I believe arena net realize how important WvW is, I mean there is only 2 ways they really make money, selling them game and selling gems. Now WvW is the mother of all money sinks, siege weapons, armor repairs, upgrades and people who want a commander title ASAP will invest a lot into gems. Specially hard core dedicated commanders. Now a large portion of the community myself included only log into the game for WvW. If they leave WvW in the shadows, that means a leaving community which means less expansions sold in the future.
Expansions and events is where the real money is. Ever wondered why the price of gem sky rocket over hallowing? Yet f the community who play only for WvW feels left in the shadows and leave, that’s a lot less gem selling for them. The same goes for expansions, usually the hype is enough to sell em, people want to see what is new and thus 60$ doesn’t seem so bad for an expansion which is like 15% the size of the normal game at a full game price?
I credit WoW success exactly to that, they always increase the level cap, for those who enjoy leveling, add a new BG for those who only pvp, add some raids for those who like to raid or end content oriented and so on, this makes people want to buy the expansion even if they come to regret it after.
Many class skill weapons are available via the mystic forge, not sure about this one but you can make a great sword with the skin of a Guardian spiritual sword and such things. They are insanely expensive though.
Here are some very general tips to success.
-Every time you complete a heart, talk to the npc, he will now sell you gear for karma. If the gear is better than what you have buy some.
-Grab weapon smith/armor smith/jeweler 2 of these and work on them as you level. Mats will come from your daily routine of questing around areas, making those long travels back more rewarding. It gives you exp as you craft and keeps your gear up to date as you can craft some new set every 5 lvls. Stays rewarding at end game as it gives you access to exotic gear.
-Don’t be shy to ask for help in map chat.
-Learn to double tap for dodge in hard situations.
-Experiment with weapon combinations, hammer is horrible for lvling due to it’s slow swing speed, yet it’s amazing in pvp due to it’s CC abilities.
1) Did so in no time, sitting on full exotics.
2) They look horrible and are even worse to obtain, really a mayor let down for me personally.
3) Done.
4) For what? Lol nothing I need, I am saving oris to make some mystic forge rare skins but not exactly farming them just getting them off savage lol.
5) Got over 200k karma and 19 liquid karma sitting in my inventory. Wut I want it for…no idea, temple armor? Done. Ingredients? Bought 250+ of each. Weapons? <_< I thought of it but my race got the lamest skins…well second lamest norn t3 are just overly bad designed.
6) Got over a hundred.
7) For what lol?
8) Done with every discipline i want/need.
9) Is what I do these days.
10) Got every banner in my logging screen, every chive and the armor is not tradeable so I lost faith in buying pieces from each faction to make some sexy look
!
11) Been doing that…not enjoying it at all.
12) Always happy to help, but people need to learn to help themselves first.
I may sound negative but is reality lol. Yet I will add a , mystic forge got a set of weapons with very interesting skins. I would suggest aiming for those for the people who don’t like/care about legendary gear.
I would love to see this but then I be literally kitten with a bunker build and we all know bunkers are the main problem atm.
It’s PvE, who cares?
Probably the people who play PvE.
Why? It deals heavy damage? So what, mobs have truck loaded with hp and is not like warriors can do much else with a great sword anyways, besides kissing the floor every time they get hit. People seem to ignore such numbers come at a heavy price. Now if we could do 20 – 40 k constantly while kitting around with a huge smile on our face then it would be op.
You don’t need to have multiple guilds if you don’t want to. I been in the same guild since day 2, I never represented any other, nor does the important people in my guild. Important people as the group of friends who are the guild and not the mindless members who join to abuse guild perks/banners. Even if you could have only 1 guild, what different would it make? Look at WoW guilds, 200+ members. 15 Raiders. 185 pointless members who are there to get guild perks.
There is no real shame in it, maybe they simply don’t want to fight? Only Pk oriented in this world is WvW, many go there to simply complete the world or gather stuff, if they run away from you is the same as telling you “I know I will loose, I don’t wanna walk here again…leave me alone?” Winning against someone who can’t fight back is a real shameful act. Unless they attack first or try to gang me I usually ignore people minding their own business.
@Darfod: That’s how I got most of my gear in several games <3!!
(edited by Lyonell.1753)
Go Wvw or starting areas? You can get into them for free. Press B > Go WVW any of them > Portal to lions arch > portal to a city > Profit.
Every time you take a point in WvW, or defend it you get an event count.
It’s useful at low levels, after that is very useless, the amount it heals per tick is very low and the “burst” heal doesn’t compare with the other two. Doesn’t remove conditions or give any effect so yeah after low lvl gameplay is useless.
I use a razer naga so my set up is simple. 1 – 10 are my skills just like in game, 11 is my burst skill and pressing my mouse wheel switches weapons.
On with dungeons, why are they so unbalance? Some trash feels like HOLY kitten!!! Then you reach the boss and you are all scared and end up beating him worse than one of those lvl 1 mobs. Most of it feels like the devs went lazy when making em in fear of not being able to balance them around the trinity-less game style. This combined with the random mechanics like escorting an npc really makes me want to bang my head against the desk, over all I avoid the dungeons like I avoid bad foods in my diet.
Next point Destiny’s edge. At first I thought I could ignore them, over all I thought I could simply say, yeah horribly design group of losers. So they went against an elder dragon, an old man died and now is a blame each other fest. Is the same as a navy seal team going against Osama Bin laden, having a casualty and acting like if the world ended, they knew they would face a thread that could kill em, yet they all blame each other and act like kinder garden kids. When I did AC story I was all omg this is some sexy lore as I learn of the fate of Ascalon, after that every dungeon felt like a bottle of no more tears shampoo for Destiny’s Edge.
Next point the Pvp. I always been a fan of competitive pvp. Yet the design around conquest and the imbalance in some classes really made this a rather uninteresting experience. Also the way ranks are earned make bad people become worse…which leads from a competitive activity to become a grind face or a humiliation thanks to those seeking to earn glory fast.
WvW is the one part of the game I really enjoy and the reason I still play, yet with free server transfers, this area of the game have become lacking, I am happy arena net is doing something about it. Thus I won’t say much on this aspect. Only thing I dislike is the whole commander title for 100 gold. People seem to make such a big deal out of it, someone spent 100 gold into it we all most worship them cause we are nothing without em. No commander in the map = people OMFG we need a commander what do we do omg, how do we band together without one!?!?! OMG!!!! Personally, if I see a commander doing something good for the server, I will follow him if he is a complete idiot, I just go look for my suicidal 7 v 1 or so fights to see how many I can kill before more come and kill me.
And my last point. The end game. Like many I am disappointed at how the end game is designed. No I don’t want raids, but I do want world bosses to be able to put a fight, not just stand there looking awesome, I want real goals, not some spend 119 gold into some cultural armor and try to feel good about it. Or grind the mother of all mats/gold/dungeon farming and make a legendary weapon….is just not there, is either grind or do a boring boss. I don’t say they need to add tons of content all the time I say they need to fix the content they already have to make it enjoyable and challenging in a certain scale, not a gear scale but more of a some fight should easier than others until you reach a level that only true elites can accomplish while feeling rewarded for it. Rewards could be anything from a different unique set of skins to unique titles or a medal next to your name like the world explorer one.
Thank you for reading and sorry for my english, I self taught myself english so I tend to make a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes.
So first of all this is not a Q_Q, Whaaa!!! Whaa!!! topic. I’m just expressing my feeling to see if fellow players and maybe even the devs feel the same way, or maybe help me find ways to renew my interest in the game. Similar to a second wing in a marathon or a pomp while lifting weights I seek to renew my interest in the game.
So I’ll start from the beginning, when GW2 started to get it’s fame as the OMFG WOW KILLER and game of the year and bla bla bla. I was completely uninterested on it. I been playing games since the Atari entertainment system, I been through Ever Quest, WoW, Rift, Aion, Ragnarok Online, Lineage 2, SWTOR, eh many games…just too many. They always seems to promise a lot, yet all of them end up being another grind, with very restricted end game that is designed to allow the devs into the deepest part of your pockets. Now my fiancee was really interested in the game, like me she plays MMOs a lot, so she kept saying “We should get GW2….bla bla bla.” Over all I was still not interested, then I saw the manifesto trailer and I was like Holy kitten this is great [EDIT], I automatically got sold and pre-reserved the game.
As more information about the game was release I got more interested in it, there were two things that really got me into wanting to play this game, the personal story and the reputation GW1 pvp had. I never played GW1 but everyone keep telling me pvp was awesome. So I said well if pvp was awesome there then it should be even more so in the sequel. For the most part after release I was very happy with the game, in fact I still am rather happy with it, I’m not in a mood to say OMFG I will quit and never buy a product from Anet. Now here comes why my experience is going down the drain.
First of is the way the personal story is designed. The story with any race besides the asura “Neither my GF or I could swallow the boredom of that story, even if she was all over the race before release.” have very interesting bases. This is leaving aside the circus part of the human story line. “If you picked that path.” My main character is a human, so I picked the whole being poor and having a lost sister story. At first I was very happy with it, incredibly so, centaurs attacking my city, humans not being the kitten like in every other game, this mixed well with the dynamic events around Divinity’s Reach. Soon after I randomly get send into an Order, I was like ok the plot is gonna intensify…? Wonder what will happen with my friend Quin and that bandit girl. To my surprise, they simply went poof. I joined an order to fight dragons I dunno why someone would do that out of the blue but whatever.
I joined the Vigil so Forgal became my inspiration, the kitten norn is an amazing character, really without him there I probably would have quit the story all together. Now the story moves around up and down some good point so bad points, Tehern < can’t spell his name, come into my story takes over and everything becomes his story coated with a massive amount of risen syrup. I felt like I was eating in a high quality restaurant and suddenly my food got replaced with a MC Donald’s burger, with way too much mayonnaise. The story made me travel the world in a rather random way, so my whole drama with centaurs was now covered with risen and sons of svarnir and other factions I knew nothing about. I finally get to the very end and go to Arah to face Zhaitan, over all i was expecting something epic, a dinner that would make me forget the Mc.D. Burger. But nop, instead I got one of the worse experiences in dungeons i ever had. Boring encounters, more risen, destiny’s edge acting like if they were important in any way….simply put, horrible story writing.
This leads to the second part of my problem. Dungeons… Not only finding a group for them is a task of it’s own. I mean no dungeon finder…something that is like essential in every game. I know some will say “It add social aspects to the game” well there is nothing social about spending hours looking for people to do a dungeon that you might not even finish. While doing this I can’t go WvW, go spvp, go do anything I like, all I can do is wait and spam while reading gold spammers selling gold and people discussing WoW outside WoW. Social aspect, that’s what guilds are for…thats what team chat in WvW is for, dungeons like it or not is to enjoy em once and farm em after. Whenever you enjoy them or not while farming them is at your own discretion.

Lol, at least I was one of the people spamming #2 on him. I only attempted this dungeon tree times, and that is because the first time the server went off right before Zhaitan. But I agree, destiny’s edge participation made me hate them even more. The holy city itself feels like a crappy ride WoW Death Wing raid style… First time I was about to kill Zhaitan I was like kitten this will be awesome. Second time kitten why isn’t the kitten zeppelin scene happening….oh it bugged. 3rd and only succulence time. "Heh same as deathwing…well at least they didn’t shoot him with a kitteny plate…
The dragon looks awesome…the fight made me want to cry with how horrible it was. It was as if Zhaitan was saying: “Come at me bro” While ignoring he was getting his chest filled with holes…I thought I would fight not just sit there and lol at him…hell even lvl 1 mobs were more challenging.
The over all dungeon wasn’t even a dungeon….it wasn’t even Arah the holy city just a lame ride with many Logan showing he is worth something…and D.E. behaving like if they were some kind of heroes. With me and my group enduring the bugs, the waves of undeath…which honestly I am so sick about….
I was expecting to face some of Zhaitans minions and artifacts and secrets and I dunno, have a lore rich experience…? Else I got a horrible imitation of Death wing, which in his own was horrible to begin with…
I also had a bug where all but one mortar were repaired, yet the game recognized the unfixed mortar as fixed so the npc wouldn’t finish fixing it and instead went on attacking mobs, yet people in the room could use the broken mortar as if it was fully functional.
Shatterer, just because of his looks and landing animation.
Corrupted sons of Svarnir and anything none risen…
No way in hell.
I would agree for race changes but class changes nop, never, want another character reroll.
9.5, was great but I didn’t manage to do all of it thanks to time issues
