Really goes to show the difference between the militia in EU and NA. They are great in NA. They do most of the scouting, supply camp capping, escorting/killing yaks and watching over our stuff. Didn’t realize this was such a problem in Europe. Pretty sure every top NA server has gone out of their way to train their militia and it’s probably why we haven’t been experiencing such problems. Perhaps investing some time in teaching the militia will make things a lot better.
Also, losing will help weed out all the fairweathers which is also a good thing. Then you’ll know who are the real militia that you should focus your attention on to train them up. Like someone mentioned earlier, don’t neglect them. They are there to do all the little things and we all know how important the little things are.

Isn’t WM back already? Saw a decently sized group of them a few days ago when I played during SEA prime.
In lower tiers and in matches where coverage superiority is the defining factor, it’s ok not to work too hard on defense. Dominating through coverage doesn’t require learning strong defensive tactics, losing does.
Kaineng came up really fast through the ranks without any periods of loss/recovery like both TC and FA have weathered. The players from old t8 pre-transfer Kaineng may be an exception, but I’m not sure how many of them are still around.
Don’t get discouraged by losing, someone has to lose in any competition. Do your best to win, learn from your losses, get better where you can, but most importantly just have fun and the rest will follow.
I really don’t think this is the case. The majority of Kaineng’s guilds have fought on servers that have had losing streaks or tough competition. I doubt that they would have magically lost the ability to defend their structures.
The very fact that this thread is still on the first page after 5 months must mean something. Come on Anet/NCSoft! Don’t give up on Cantha! We adore it way too much.

Crafting is financially useless because if it were any other way, enough people would jump onto it and drive prices down/up to the point that it becomes financially useless.
Any method that is profitable won’t stay profitable for long. Simple supply/demand.
DR and Kain actually got out of T8 on their own merits.

Last time I checked, they are no longer in T8. And if my knowledge of calendars is correct, they got out before today. So, yes, they got out on their own merits.
DR got out only because ET dropped down. Kaineng got out only because they ate all of ET’s rating when they dropped down. The only way SF could have gotten out was if a T7 server dropped down or if they received an enormous amount of transfers, which wasn’t going to happen so Anet had to do something. And they did.

I make around 100 badges a day just by playing WvW normally.
I have more badges than I know what to do with so I have been stockpiling myself with gifts of battle even though I don’t need them anymore. You don’t wanna know how many of those I got
I recommend that you do it the easy/fun way instead of the boring/noob way.

I’ve played on both US and EU servers and the style of play is very, very different.
In US, the PPT meta rules and it’s what most of the top servers care about (thank god my server loves open field combat and PvP instead of PvDoor!). Capping camps before the tick, havok squads, scouts babysitting structures and exploiting your opponents coverage gaps are fundamental aspects of the meta in US. It’s kinda sad when an enemy zerg with equal or greater numbers run away from fights because they “contribute nothing to the score”. In US you get all the metagaming stuff like spying and sabotage as well. You can find fights going on in all corners of the map.
In EU, it’s all about the fights and the zergs. Almost to the point that you lose fully upgraded keeps because no one scouted it and you’re outmanned in your home map but have a queue for another map. The fights are awesome though. In Seafarer’s Rest, the militia are almost as coordinated as the guilds and even militia zergs play like Red Guard. Heck, every single guild in SFR (and most of our opponents) plays like Red Guard. The zerg fights are really fun when both sides are skilled and organized. Most EU servers prefer running one huge zerg per map with perma swiftness to cover all ground instead of multiple smaller zergs like in NA.
The above is just a generalization based on my experience. It’s not to say that NA players don’t like the fights (there are some…) and that EU guys don’t scout or run in multiple coordinated zergs (I have seen them do it during peak prime time and on reset). Some select NA servers can field gigantic zergs that put the EU ones to shame.
WvW in a US server is like fighting in a war.
WvW in a EU server is like fighting in a battle.

TC, you should have omega golem rushed our garrison earlier while our guilds were still on! We coulda given you a real fight instead of the 10 of us that were there

We run into zergs even when outmanned, wehre TC actualy care about Pionts (same seen on Kaineng NA guilds) .
We just care about good fights =)

Anet needs to learn from other games mistakes.
Never nerf anything for any reason what so ever. No matter how OP people or the devs think the skill is NEVER nerf it. Adjust skills around it to bring it up to it’s level, then adjust the difficulty.
I don’t play a mesmer so I dont know how nasty the change was.. I do play a Ranger but never touch dungeons so I don’t often have quickness in my skill bar anyway.
I highly doubt that nerfing a skill like quickness will suddenly cause people (who’ve left) to flock back to Gw2 based on their feeling it was overpowered and finally fixed. It’s far more likely for people to walk away from Gw2 based on a popular skill getting the axe, while messing with their build.
An MMO does not operate if droves of people leave based on their feelings the game might be going down the wrong path (path of nerfs)
Anet.. take note.. do not go down that path.
What you have described is called Power Creep, which isn’t a good thing.
It is a FACT that power creep kills games. Perfect example? GW1 post Nightfall.

Either they introduce a new currency or remove badges from the JP with the update. I don’t want all the spots in a map being taken by a horde of pvers trying to farm the jp just for badges to get the new gear.

-when facing BG and u guys It happened quite often that we were inside a BG keep trying to get inner gate down, when TC showed up, wiped us and left, not even trying to take bg’s keep…
I remember many of those times. We would come in, kill FA and then leave the keep for BG because we wanted them to remain a presence in that BG so we could maximize our PPT against FA. That is called strategy, because as you guys have already pointed out TC plays to maximize PPT.

The intent of the update was to make it so that the events would scale up in difficulty while giving the same rewards as it usually did before the update. However, all this change has done is increased the difficulty while decreasing the rewards. It’s still farmable but no where close to what it was like. People are being driven away from it, which makes this change a complete failure.
I like the changes. I think it was definitely warranted but have you guys even seen the number of champions that are spawning? There was like 4 champs up at one point in shelter….
Nevertheless, they are still very farmabale. Too bad that the champs just disappear into thin air if they’re still alive once the event is over.
It is so nice to finally see that the guaranteed drops are having a positive impact on the economy. Exotics are no longer 4-5 gold a piece and you can actually buy exotics and rares for 30 silver a pop.
Thanks Anet for your diligence in changing this problem and allowing players to get rewarded for their time in Tyria.

Lowest selling price at the moment: 650g, next price is 725g
The only thing I can conclude from this is that:
a)A lot of buy orders have just been filled, which is a good thing, shows supply is a lot higher than most people think it is.
b)Someone just seriously undercut those that were up for sale, which is also a good thing and could be a result of all those buy orders being filled. Current supply and demand quite obviously doesn’t warrant a 700g+ price tag.

I know in almost every other game, armor>health but in this game……….
My ele has 2000+ toughness and still got hit for 10k damage from backstab. Seriously, it sucks.

Pretty sure that’s how it’s supposed to be. If materials were easy to farm, they’d be worthless and so would legendaries. Anet doesn’t want that but they’ve given everyone a worthy alternative: farm gold (which is painfully easy) then buy what you need. That’s how you’re supposed to do it.
Just to humor you…..the bolded bit is where I reckon I took “worthy alternative” to make the other “alternative” in this case the mats “unworthy”. This is due the addition of the adjective “worthy” being used to describe the noun “alternative”. Thus offering that one of the reasons there was a difference was the “worthiness”.
That aside…..now we have gotten to the point of semantics, which is not adhering to the topic at hand and as such I’ll relinquish to the current matter……..You’re right!
