I hope everybody realizes that Dragon Bash is an annual festival and will be returning next year……..
Can I recover my lost items or characters after my account was compromised?
" Yes, we are able to revert your account to a point prior to the compromise incident as long as the compromise took place on or after December 1, 2012, and if it meets the qualifications of the restoration process (below). "
— Account Restoration
This guy’s account wasn’t compromised. Even with the multiple confirmation requests, he managed to buy the wrong item on the gem store…………
Warrior and Thief
Ele and Engineer come next
if the old weapon skins, indeed don’t return, i think that will drive up the price of the existing skins when SAB is back and there is more “hype” about the Super skins again. people who missed out the first time will fall in love with the new skins and want the old ones to complete a set, etc etc..
I would expect the opposite to happen, since god knows how many players have stock piled on those skins waiting to unload them at that time, thinking that demand would spike (which it may, but the even larger supply is there and waiting……).
Cursed Shore isn’t fun anymore. Thanks Anet.
You left out a very important fact that Josh Foreman stated it was very unlikely the old skins would return. Kind of relevant I think.
As to the price…OP you need to make your own decision there. Do you think these are going to skyrocket in value somehow? Or that gems will stay the same price?
Josh Foreman says “I’m pretty sure”
Reading comprehension indicates that it is still up in the air and can’t be considered as fact. Also, this is Anet we’re dealing with. The number of times they’ve gone back on their statements/decisions is incredible…
The facts:
-SAB will be returning
-World 1 will be returning
-Moto will be returning
-We don’t know when they will be returning
Make a decision based on that. No one can really give you a straight answer. And even if there was an answer to your question, no one in their right mind would tell it to you in a public domain such as a forum.
Should I post some screens of me beating higher levels? It isn’t hard for people that actually PvP (spvp, tpvp) to beat people in wvw even with an uplevel. Just because people are in wvw doesn’t mean they know how to pvp. In fact it seems the opposite is mostly true.
Sure level makes a difference, but to say you can’t beat someone when you are upleveled just reeks of carebear.
This thread is not about 1v1’s and small scale wvw, in case you didn’t know.
Dat require 7 gold stormbow. Man what a collector’s item.
Req7 gold bows never existed.
On topic: I want the GW1 skill system and pvp.
You’re wrong. They existed before NF. From GW Wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Talk:Requirement#Req_7_Max_Inscribable
Also,
Did I say req7 weapons didn’t exist? I said req7 bows didn’t exist. Trust me, I’m one the guys that researched this stuff. Every weapon except bows (and spear/scythe) could drop as req7 pre NF.
I’m fine with the current changes to eles. Lightning flash nerf doesn’t change anything – who actually used it as a stun breaker?? I always used cleansing fire and mist form first and rarely do I need to pop all three cantrips in a short time frame. Lightning flash was always mainly used as a positioning tool and that hasn’t changed. I now used armor of earth to replace cleansing fire. Nothing has changed.
Bountiful Power, well yea that’s 5% less damage you’ll be doing but again, not a major nerf if you know how to use your skills right to maximize damage.
I didn’t like the RTL nerf but it’s not a big deal to me. However, if they kitten all over fiery greatsword, I’ll be kitten ed.

Ranger worst class in small scale wvw??? LOLOLOLOL
They’re one of the best in small scale combat!
You’re being very unreasonable. There isn’t an report option for people glitching/exploiting and also how the heck is he supposed to know what their intentions are when people are suddenly on the other side of the gate?
For all he knew the guy running up the stairs could have been a mesmer with an entrance portal already set up. Do not make him the bad guy here, you’re straying from the point. You can’t report all the right people, it all literally happened in just over a minute and whoever gets reported that did nothing wrong has nothing to worry about.
He reported an EP necro who accidentally glitched in, then ran straight up the stairs and over the wall.
The reporting happened before the portal was opened. The portal was opened by an unguilded TC “Recruit.”
Not unguilded at all, that was a clone/phantasm. The mesmer most likely used decoy.
Here are three screenshots which happened within a 1 second time frame. If you go to 0:34 in the video and watch it in slow motion(or pause at every frame), you will see that the mesmer was stealthed when he dropped the portal, he then popped a clone as he began running up the stairs and came out of stealth near the top. I’ve supplied screenshots to show the glaring proof. The reported player was an EP necro, and looked completely different from the clone/mesmer/whatever.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/matchups/6-21-TC-FA-KN-1/page/11#post2302799
P.S.- It doesn’t matter anyway. The reason people got in in the first place is that the door broke just as the keep upgraded, and a few players who had been pressing against the gate got inside in that instant it was open. The mesmer portal wasn’t an exploit anyway, as they were legitimately inside the keep at that point. (Oh, the things you find out from talking to players who were actually there.)
This doesn’t concern the necro as it didn’t abuse the glitch. The mesmer did. Also, there wasn’t an upgrade going at all during that video. Doors can’t upgrade if there’s no upgrade going on. Also, it’s fully fortified. No upgrade would fix the gate. If the mesmer was already inside, how stupid is he to put the portal right in front of the enemy. Not to mention, mesmers don’t have enough stealth available to them to remain hidden for that long in such an enclosed space.
Wow.
In a pve jp, there are monsters to fight
In a pvp jp, there are players to fight
Now please keep whining, it only encourages people to do it more.
Maybe not the pve, but the pvp was spot on from day 1. Can’t really say that with gw2.
Also, no skill system can ever be truly balanced. The problem in gw1 wasn’t that some skills were op, it was that it took anet months to address any problem in the game. Took them half a year to overhaul the dervish and then a year to fix all the op skills they had introduced with that update. That’s what got people mad at anet.
Yea, the skill system in gw1 wasn’t perfect, but it was this very skill system that created so many memorable moments in the game, both in pve and pvp. People remember when iQ brought glyph of sac + meteor shower in the GWFC. People remember when rawr brought 4 monks to the mAT final and then when they created rawrspike. People remember IWAY. People remember Sway, Bloodspike, Eurospike, Dervspike, Cakesplit, Sinsplit, Sabway, Discordway. It even goes down to specific builds. Shock Axe, Cripshot ranger, Boon prots, Toolbox Ele, 55 Monk, 600 prot. All these beloved setups and many more will never be possible in gw2 and imo, that was the best part of gw1.
Enough with the coats and skirts! WTB pants for female light armor (not these skirt/pants hybrids we have now).
Hold on a minute here, people actually do the events in straights of devastation?
Best part about that screenshot: Lion’s Arch in Fort Aspenwood!!!
I’m surprised there’s no quaggan talk :o
Permanent content added since release:
Southsun Cove
Fractals
Guild Missions
Custom Arenas
World XP
Ascended Gear
A whole heap of changes to existing content
and we’re getting a new jumping puzzle
The above along with content updates every 2 weeks (albeit not permanent, but they last long enough)
If that’s not good enough for you, then you’re more than welcome to take off. Anet already has your money.
Even if it isn’t a stun breaker, you can still teleport while stunned.
I can’t be bothered scanning through every thread and since the search function on this forum is god awful, I guess I gotta make a thread about it.
What information do we have that hints to a possible 7th elder dragon? If there is a dragon, what do we know about it?
I think I remember reading a thread months ago that mentions a dragon that could be residing in Cantha but bad search function is bad.
My understanding is that you’ll still be able to use lightning flash while stunned. You’ll just remain stunned after the teleport but it will wear off before your opponent can get back to you.
I’m seeing a bright future future for S/D eles.
No real changes for D/D. Just don’t bring cleansing fire anymore
It took about 2 years for the ranger to reach it’s full potential and be recognized for it in the first guild wars. Which sounds more bleak than positive, but still.
No it didn’t. Rangers were gods in pvp from day 1. Don’t you remember the cripshot build with distortion and storm chaser?
Anet failed rangers in gw2, unfortunately. Just like they did with mesmers.
If Anet pulls another Nightfall/EotN, this game will be dead sooner rather than later.
You see this is where opinion comes into play. I loved Eye of The North – it added lots of new zones, races to meet, the story was actually interesting and my boyfriend points out that Nightfall was his favorite one. While a lot of players did love Cantha, some of us here love Ellona too.
I’m not talking about how good the campaign was for those expansions, but everything else that came with it.
Anet abandoned skilled balance completely with Nightfall and EotN. Dervishes, paragons, patient spirit, cure hex and the notorious “Smiter’s Boon”. All examples of the power creep and poor balancing that plagued the game after NF was released.
They also abandoned pvp. Factions introduced THREE new game modes. Nightfall brought one that ended getting deleted out of the game and we got nothing from EotN.
They also introduced more and more titles to grind – with the strength of certain skills in the game being tied to your rank (i mean, wtf were they thinking with this) which meant high-level pve became gated content for those who weren’t maxed rank in these titles.
I could go on and on. This has nothing to do with the story campaign, but the changes that came with said expansions. Anet did it right with Factions.
The longevity of the game depends entirely on Anets actions and the content/balance updates they release. If Anet pulls another Nightfall/EotN, this game will be dead sooner rather than later. If Anet does another Factions, GW2 still has a chance. Factions brought two new professions, lots of new endgame options for pve and pvp (3 new game modes + new maps for gvg) and new skills that weren’t so blatantly overpowered that it took 4 years to finally balance them (like with Nightfall/EotN). Factions was a winning formula. If Anet wants this game to survive, they should follow that formula.
Yes, yes, please sell all your lodestones now so that I (and most likely the OP) can buy em all for dirt cheap then when this “overhaul” occurs and we realize nothing has really changed, we can sell for huge profit. kkthnx
Well lodestone are going to get easier to get, I would expect something along the lines of what they did for dust. So don’t say you were not warned when you get burned for buying up tons of lodestones.
Anet never specified how they are going to make this change. For all we know, they could make it so you can buy them with laurels/commendations etc. That wouldn’t result in much change would it?
Yes, yes, please sell all your lodestones now so that I (and most likely the OP) can buy em all for dirt cheap then when this “overhaul” occurs and we realize nothing has really changed, we can sell for huge profit. kkthnx
I want Elite Gladiator Armor back. Oh, and all monk armors!
My guess is that Colin was promoted to direct the live team, while Eric is secretly directing/ designing future content (for something big, i.e. an expansion).
My money is on this. I mean, we don’t hear much from the art/story team as well. What else could they be doing right now????
They even mentioned that their staff was being divided into two groups. Live team to maintain the current game and the other to work on expansions.
Farming is not fun
Who are you to say what people find fun? What you may find boring, others may not.
wouldn’t it be better if you got those from doing content that require your brain to work and challenge you in some way?
No? If people want a challenge, there are many options for them. WvW, sPvP, Fractals, Dungeons and Guild Missions. What about the rest of us who only got 20 minutes spare time and wanna just relax while killing things? Am I not allowed to achieve anything in that short time I have available?
Okay, let me explain how this works…
When a limited item comes into the game, or an item that will have demand on it, about everyone and your mom is going to buy them up and hoard them to make free profit, meaning you can visually think there is 1 legit buyer to every 10 having the item…. when the event ends, typically means the “hype” or “demand” will too, causing a mega crash, as we seen… time and time again because 9 out of 10 people are trying to dump them for profit, causing an undercut effect on an item that is hyperinflated by price. Until it’s a “reasonable price” they won’t commonly get bought up fast.
Yes… they WILL go up, especially since they were confirmed to be discontinued, however it may take multiple years before all 200+ are bought up by LEGIT users (meaning the skin isn’t sitting in a merchants bank).
A good example are the old Southsun pets, the Mini Hatchling, Karka, and Reef Drake, all were around 15g around the event when it ended, currently worth 60-100+ due to supply and demand from new collectors etc.
1)The devs have confirmed that world 1 will be returning
2)The devs never said the skins won’t drop in world 1 when it returns
3)The devs said world 2 is the one that these skins won’t drop in, since they are getting their own set of new skins
4)Moto may return and have these skins purchasable
Let’s just say, if you’re investing in these skins, you’re making a lot of assumptions and taking quite a risk.

For pve, SoS is probably still the best choice.
Hi guys, I know this doesn’t relate much to gw2 but this week is Double Competitive missions week in gw1 which means you’ll get double rewards from playing Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry.
If you played gw1, you’ll know how incredibly fun both these pvp formats are. So much fun and active in their prime that Anet named two gw2 servers after them. Well, since gw2 launched, it’s only been possible to play JQ during euro prime time and FA has been a dead zone. This all changes during the double rewards week! Now is the chance to relive and replay these two amazing pvp formats! Typically, many people return to the game or take a break from pve to play during the double rewards week.
It used to only be a weekend event but now it lasts the entire week! The event started today and will continue till the end of the weekend. If you remember the good old days of gw1 and wouldn’t mind playing some real pvp instead of the trash we have in gw2, hop on to gw1 and let’s play!!
Do note: because this event has always only ran during the weekends, it will take some time for people to realize/adjust to the new week long events. As a result, during the week, FA and JQ may not be very populated but be sure to check in during the weekend!
Hope to see you all pay a visit to the game that started it all.
In future, please remember that this is Anet you are dealing with. They are notorious for recycling and reusing items. I don’t know if any of you remember the huge kitten storm that occurred when eye of the north was released when all the “new” armors were really just re-skinned old ones.
I’m having a lot of fun destroying the fortifications and seeing map chat blow up.
This! Pretty ridiculous that its only available via 1 method.
That is however not correct.
You can get ascended back item without ever setting foot inside Fractals.
What if you don’t want an apothecary back piece?
What about ascended back items?
As someone who loves pvp and played nothing but FA in gw1, I am so happy and grateful that the server I picked for gw2 had so many like minded individuals who love to pvp and live for the fights, whether large scale or small scale. In the end of the day, having fun is what matters most. Win or lose, outmanned or not, it doesn’t matter as long as I have fun while playing. That’s my mentality and I’m very fortunate to be in a server that shares it with me.
We’re looking more people who share our mentality to join us. Let’s have fun together!
More screenshots to show how ridiculous Cursed Shore is now.
Note: I have almost 2000 toughness.
The badge drop rate is too high lol. I got a bank tab full of them and I don’t even run in a zerg.
There were no changes to make any creatures harder than they previously were in the patch on Tuesday, and the damage on Veterans and Champions in the events using the new event scaling should be significantly closer to what was intended.
We’re still looking at the difficulty of these events, and may make more changes in the future. If anybody has played any of the events using the new scaling since the patch, feedback is definitely welcome.
How about you and the rest of the staff go spend an hour in cursed shore doing grenth, pentient and shelter. Let us know how many times you had to talk to the repair merchant.
Cursed shore before the patch was perfect. It wasn’t too easy, it wasn’t too hard. If people wanted a challenge, they did dungeons/fractals. Anet’s #1 priority should be to ensure their players are having fun. Well, right now cursed shore is not fun. Getting one shotted by champion risen wraiths is not fun. Having a champ chicken shoot 3 eggs in one second, each doing 10k+ damage is not fun. Having 10+ veteran spider hatchling spawn and not give any loot/exp at all is not fun. Cursed Shore is not fun anymore and it’s a dead zone as a result.
Thanks for killing Cursed Shore and casual farming. When I only had 20 minutes free time I used to zone in and do a few events and actually achieve something. Now to make money I have to grind for hours in the fractals or in Cof, neither of which I have any interest in doing because I’m a casual pver.
Ok, so I got the new karka shell and want to upgrade it to ascended. However, I don’t want the apothecary stats on them. Can I transmute my desired stats on first (with my current exotic backpiece) and then upgrade it to ascended quality?
It doesn’t change the fact that he’s right…..
Don’t get skill lag anymore but now my fps drops significantly during zerg fights.
Yeh, exactly, i watched it but with all those speed up/slow down, quick pov change, i really couldnt understand much, i can just guess something about the game from what ppl say here…. so far seems to me it was more focused on teamwork in the fight, with more supportive spells and stuff like that.
Well that video was made for people who were playing gw1 at that time. Try this video and it’s follow ups:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdJM0xsbHhs
It’s quite long but it’s the best video for non gw1 players to watch.
Only the bad eles got nerfed. D/D is still very, very strong if you’re not a baddy.
