Yep, map chat will only be seen by nearby friendlies. If someone answers, you know it’s a friendly. If silence … it’s the “dark side”.

This early in the match (reset was about 40 minutes ago), things are fluid. Later as you look at the matchup results on http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/ or http://mos.millenium.org/matchups/#NA , you can see how the scores are going. That will help you correlate to the respective borderlands. EB, however is another story. Short of being logged into the match in question, there is no way to know how things are going. Generally each side seems to hold it’s corner (more or less), SM is the hard prediction.

And SoR takes a commanding lead.

Interesting concept, sounds like Open world PvP.

We would have to break the gates/wall on the keeps in EB, to get to the JP, where the real battles would begin.

In this match alone, every server has had >50% pie wedges.
Since in real life, people do that school, work, play, sleep, eat, socialize and do not exist in the virtual world 24/7; there will be quiet times. PvDoor is less satisfying, but the ppt must be fed. PvE is infinitely more fun, but prime times vary. Good day.

My first few hours/days in wvw, I got ganked, a lot. This was long ago. I guess I missed the first few hours of wvw where ganking didn’t happen. So when were these glory days of no ganking?

I run a thief too. But, more in a thief hunter role, than in a group killer way. The game’s mechanics in WvWvW are broken regarding thieves.
We can skip over the l2p issue.

Sadly, the 1v5+ and win group is still just one class.

It’s broken in PvE, but the foes, being simple AI, don’t know how to post in the official forums. I’ll request that AI gets rights to point out the injustice, too.

Again, this has been filed as a bug report, by me and others. It’s not changed. Therefore, it must be as intended. Can we close this topic?

X-team chat on EB is the most interesting place because of the battle varieties.
So far, not been “excessively” trolled in chat.
I find the “xyz Invader gestures” to be most amusing in the emote category. I have no idea what emote → gestures. I like to think it mean “humbly begs for forgiveness”.

Commanders, what can you do?
They use all those high sounding phrases: feint, diversion, back-tracking, back-cap, starve, rush, flank, buff. You almost think they know what they are talking about.
Oh, and stack on me, portal, veil, push, push, push, push, push. It’s in the commander manual, I guess. Where at the golems? Who left the golems? Tell golem #18 to get in that portal, now!

I was playing in JQ BL last night. Given the numbers you stated, we had quite a bit less than that. The bulk of the pugs you referred to were actually in community TS. In that respect there is very little difference between them and your single guild force apart from the the guild tag above their head. Maybe your single guild might be a bit more proficient with combo field tactics etc due to more practice but alot of those JQ small guilds know that stuff as well. They don’t need the same guild tag above their head to perform it. What you see is a mixed group of guild tags and assume its a bunch of “pugs”., however you want to define that term.

We had folks on scouting and defence and camp flipping/yak running and a mixed strike force running around harassing bay and hills to keep you tied down. We even flipped hills at one point with 10. All organised by TS and chat.

The force you faced on JQ BL was actually quite organised which is why they were doing ok against you despite their limited numbers and keeping you from making alot of progress but because you didn’t see a single guild blob then you assumed it was a bunch of randoms. Don’t worry, all other servers appear to make this mistake.

You are right though, the strategy we were following last night make sense for us. Your home borderland is always predominantly a defensive map.

I have kept away from these boards this match up until now as I could guess exactly what a certain small section of the SoR players would be saying given how T1 match ups play out over a few weeks. Pleased to see that they have not dissapointed me.

You know, I never realized that the word “pugs” carried with it such a negative connotation for you and some others in the community. I merely use it for any mass of players that are not under one guild regardless of if they are in TS or not. In fact, if we had a group of 3-4 Choo, and TW, and CDS, and TWL, and GSCH, and UL, etc… I would still call that a “pug” group by definition of the term.

I won’t comment on the numbers, I didn’t sit and count them, and I sometimes overestimate when looking there because I think it’s better to overestimate than under when scouting wouldn’t you say?

I will say that it honestly saddens me that because I used that one term that you automatically labeled me as someone that thinks the opposing players to be unskilled and uncoordinated even in the light of my post complimenting your group of players for having “sound strategy”. Nowhere in my post was I even slightly derogatory to your players nor did I mean to be. They did a perfect job in forcing us into some difficult decisions which I outlined in the rest of my post.

I appreciate you sticking me in that “small section of SoR” because of that one word. I guess that’s the reason I stopped paying much attention to these forums ever since we left T2. No matter what you say or do, someone is always hurt in some way.

If I insulted you in some way, I had no intention of doing so, but I would appreciate you giving some the benefit of the doubt on these forums instead of jumping to conclusions. A lot of people get defensive here which in turn causes a ton of unnecessary drama.

All I am here to do is read this while at work, and have fun in WvW when I’m at home. Guess I just need to find something else to do…like work…gasp.

Most of us have been playing awhile, and don’t get hung up on that term. While I know the derivation of pug, it is a shorthand term for not in my guild, at least in my mind. I have no problem being called a pug.

[edit]I might call Waha or Jedbacca a pug, but not very often. It’s fun when commanders (pin off) run as mere foot-soldiers in a group.

I, personally, would love to see ArenaNet pick 10-20 wvw frequent-players from each server, and randomly assign them to a team on the wvw test server and let them communicate with a wvw coordinator (NDA is fine) for a week or two before they “release” it on us.

I have to give credit where I think it is due. SoS “held serve” for so long because they played a more strategic game. PPT is winning the tier.

Imho, JQ was in #2 or #3 for so long because we were in it for the fights, and SoS would dangle “carrotsbags” in front of us while they were superior flame ramming some keep/tower. At some point, we had to be more aware of camps, yaks, keeps, towers and react. Now, we anticipate these things, and assume that somebody will attempt these and have contingency plans in place.

Education of we smaller guilds and unaffiliated players is an ongoing process. There are very few commanders that don’t continually encourage our “militia”.

This is just my opinion, and does not necessarily reflect the views of any other JQ player.

If and or when ArenaNet chooses to change the cost of armor repair, there should be some consequence of defeat.

I noticed you cannot get Spikeroot Fruit (unpeeled) variety anymore, the peeled version is a food. You can still pick them up in pve, you just cannot carry the bundle out of the zone.
Possibly this is one more WvW nerfed item.

2300 kills, 520 badges. Most of my badges, I think, came from supply camp supervisors. You get some from JPs (as already reported) and from wvw map completion. The rest of mine come in low frequency from battles. Your chances improve if you kill level 80 players, and if you can drive the stake in.

These spots have been reported. Since they are still here, I’m inclined to agree that the devs are leaving these spots so spawn campers have to be careful.
I have been on both sides of this situation. It is what it is. This is no different than standing at your spawn main gate, trolling the zerg.

Well, a few minutes ago, there was a band of SoR flipping the north camp on SoS BL. We three kept a “there is nothing to see here, move along” profile. And we were deemed insignificant. The things you have to do to get that Vista in the north.

Every server here PvDoors, SoR, SoS and JQ. It’s a fact. Scoring is based on the ownership of those places on the map. If you don’t defend them effectively, they eventually get new owners.

To posters that say “we” don’t PvDoor, it’s an elaborate falsehood.

I have been rolled over by SoS and SoR on maps this week. I then felt, it was my duty to return the favor.

Waha gave me some valuable advice in the wee hours about strategy. I’ll take those lessons to heart.

As long as the majority of the scoring is based on owning points on the map, somebody has to own them, why not us?

TL;DR we all will lose what we don’t defend well enough.

I’m not mad either, I think most SBI failed to attack SoS too.
