300 man super zerg, and 3+ waves of 100. Really?
I was just going to answer that, but first I had to L2R.
Remember when T&T meant Tunnels & Trolls? Now it refers to Trolls & Tears. We are fine, there is always a spot here for a Fiesty Asuran.
All jq borderland is now blue on weekend prime time, thats how you know who is the best at world vs world.
Jq is the best at world vs empty castles congrats to jq, that’s what the band do when they are at the wagon.
This is for you Kefro.
JQ has coverage holes. Any of our foes quickly identify them, and move hard during those time. As far as I can tell, these are not very big. I’ve shifted my schedule on when to play to help cover those holes, as a rational response to this situation.
Other servers have done this as well.
What we should not do on a daily basis is make this a full-time job.
Getting some exercise, sunshine, fresh-air, flowers and friends activity is an antidote to the “save-my-server” thing that can affect us. I have come to look at the Queues like the gw1 message: “You have been playing for 6 hours, please take a break”.
I would like to give upgraded guards one skill, send a message in mapchat with “<location> is being attacked, there are <x> foes in the camp area”.
More humorously “Foghaven Mill is being attacked by 18 players, 6 beasts, 8 clones, 2 summons”
Thoughts for the day.
Historically, JQ has been a slow starter on weekends.
Some recent posts about “We are winning at T1, transfer to us” and “only the weekend is a fair test” got me thinking.
If your server is winning the score within 24 or even 48 hours, is that a proof of something? If this is important; why don’t I contribute more to making my server win on the weekend, too? So, I put in the hours, and effort to help make this a weekend where I tried hard to “win”. It appears I was not alone.
Crackers
I have seen crackers in a few matches and in the game at large, and apparently some of those creatures exist on JQ. I detest the “if the game lets me, it must be ok” thought process. I work hard to gather evidence on crackers, my current focus is on the “teleport/blink” variety. I have seen the vids on YT about terrain/undermap access, and believe that the maps/engine used for gw2 has to be made more robust. In addition, the client to server communication protocols need to be made more secure.
I have been contacted by another server about a hacker, and passed that on to every commander I could find. At the time, I was given nothing but a location (bay) and a map (SoRBL) and a class (mesmer). I repeatedly urged the contactor to document and send all their info to exploits@arenanet.com, since they are the only ones that can actually ban or remove someone. No Yaks were mentioned.
I have no reason to think that any of the big guilds, or most of the smaller ones endorse/encourage/accept this behavior. I fully expect that even if identified, named, reported, and evicted from guilds, these folks don’t go away. From my experience with reports; and I add reported folks to my FL to watch them, it takes a long time for them to go “dormant”. I would then guess these individuals get a new account, and continue on.
In another recent series of posts about wvw population if you had 51 servers and each server put 500/3(unknown accuracy) new players in wvw every hour for every hour of a match, you come up with 51×24×7x(500/3) potential players or 1.4 million players. I think half that is closer to reality.
Of those .7 million players, I would guess there are 10-20 “hardcore” win any way possible types per server ~ 20×51 or 1k. These folks appear to thrive on creating a disruption way bigger than their numbers would indicate.
Saying that a “server” cheats, is seriously flawed. If a Canadian kills someone, it does NOT mean all Canadians are murderers, and condone murder. With apologies to Canada, used just as an example.
Anyways, the only date format that makes true sense is YYYY-MM-DD because it’s sortable.
That’s my preferred format, a variant of ISO format, for exactly the reason you mentioned. Excellent.
Ok, here’s the score. SoR is doing it. Updated with relevant Asuran wisdom.
(edited by MarMaster.6241)
What’s the score, some of us have to work, you know?
Auto-loot badges to inventory, and make the bags “appear” faster. WvW is a game of mobility so having to wait on the hopes of a bag/chest appearing is flawed.
Props to SoS and SoR. Right after reset and for hours, they were applying the pain to JQ’s lesser organised groups, repeatedly. We were forced to start acting cohesively, retake camps, DEFEND camps and dolyaks, and in general act like a true fighting force.
Agg, TSym, Choo and VoTF were some of the guilds that rofl stomped me, ouch.
The fun was too much, so I played for 13 hours from reset and crashed. PRX, SF, HzH were some of the rallying forces for my Borderlands. Nice job, patience under pressure.
Subjectively to me, the Q problem was orders of magnitude improved from the previous reset. Anybody else see things as better or worse than a week ago?
SFR ended the previous match pushing about +300 ppt, and is now poised to be the top ppt in the current match. Far too early to say it’s dead. It seems the pulse is strong in SFR.
Tempting as the offer is, I decline. Thanks for asking.
Interesting fights tonight (this morning). Just assume any ally with a Red name tag, won’t keep their side of the agreement. Diverging interests and all that sort of thing.
Encourage your server to capture the top rank in your tier. You can do it!
lol the match up hasn’t even begun yet and we have excuses rolling already :P
It is all about planning. With storms and holidays and school and work, you just have to use the tools given to you. This has been a pretty long and generally positive thread. Let things continue in that mode. Fight on.
Our thread is bigger than Maguuma, did they take CNY off early?
Unless the scores differ by a very small amount, MOS is very accurate.
It is assigned based on your server’s rank at the start of the match, highest is Emerald, second is Sapphire, third is Garnet.
In theory, Eternal Battlegrounds map has some topography that makes it best for Garnet, then Sapphire, and finally Emerald. In practice, they are really not that much better.
Some random assignment or rotation would be preferable for those working on “Been There, Done That!”.
I wonder if the server that doesn’t come in first will use the excuse of “it was CNY” for not coming in first. In past history, it will prob happen. :P
<covering_my_bases>
I might be cutting back on my kills and captures next week because of CNY. This may or may not affect the server I support. There, I used it.

Until Squad, Team, Guild, Alliance command options are fully implemented, leave the icons alone. To all those wanting toggle options, please wait for more important things to be addressed first.
There are 97 ticks left, or 67k+ points to be awarded. Keep fighting.
2v1 is too hard for us “If it’s red, it’s dead” fans.
Woot! Good news everyone! Per Habib:
In light of the strong community response to the idea of a WvW ratings reset, the results of our ratings formula investigations, and our data on the current matchups we have decided not to reset the WvW ratings at this time. All existing WvW ratings will be preserved and the rating calculation methodology will remain unchanged. Any existing mismatches should be corrected by the system in relatively short order. Now that there is less volatility in the player base for each world we expect the quality of matches to improve more quickly. This is both because the rating system is operating in a less unpredictable environment and because more stable teams tend to produce better results.
The point reset won’t be taking effect, we’re fighting for T1 baby! Bring it!
Source? Link?
Turtles ftw. Even if they did get stuck. (<troll> We know that ArenaNet were secretly Kurzick </troll>)
I will say this though SoS’s presence on EB seems scared to attack JQ. I am NOT playing the we are getting 2v1 card, I just wish SoS pressured JQ more so we could get them off our lawn.
Right from the reset SoR were all over SoS towers, and every time we took SM you were all over ogrewatch etc. What do you think we are going to do when you take SM?
T1 WvW is very broken and lopsided right now though and most of us are not playing it aside from scheduled nights with guilds as its pointless fighting uphill battles trying to keep PPT against a server with 4x your numbers, so JQ can enjoy the boredom & wins at the expense of fun, and when there are forces to fight expect to be rolled as usual.
Still very upset they stacked like that and took all the competitiveness out of t1 scoreboard game when it was obviously very very tight after their first 2 big guilds joined.
Facts:
2012 Week 47, SoS makes it to T1, Wins
Including this week, SoS wins 9 times in 12 weeks. Including 6 in a row.
edit: SoS first appears in T1 in 2012 Week 46 and was 3rd place. Apologies for that.
JQ won 3 times of 12. Including 2 in a row.
Yep, JQ took the competitiveness out of T1, the sky is falling, we are all doomed, etc.

For what it’s worth about pugs, and suiciding, and SF. I followed and participated in some of their team activities. Eye-opening learning experience. SF and Jedbacca don’t back down from objectives. The reasons and plans get made and communicated, pugs (me) are willing participants.
I have been solo scouting with my upleveled 19-31 mesmer in WvW, repair costs are quite cheap. Defeat is merely a small cost in cash, and time. But the scouting is quite useful. Finding foes “stealth” seige building, camp-flipping and golem building is all valuable info.
Once you stop fearing defeat, victory is more achieveable.
There are 4 “battlegrounds”. 3 have the same topography but different names and are the “Border Lands”, the fourth is Eternal Battlegrounds. All have PoI’s, Vistas, and Skill Points to capture, you get the Waypoints automatically, and there are no heart quests there.
Almost every attack/defend is a DE. You will get XP, Karma, cash for most captures and some defends. Because of early botting issues, defending Dolyaks is rewardless except for a token point in “Defending Dolyaks” achievement. But make no mistake, those Dolyaks provide “supply” that is crucial for all the fortified locations.
There are some PvE type DE, Kill the Veteran “grub”, “wurm”; Kill 30 Skritt, Centaurs; and the like.
You have the possibility (and should do these), of “friending” non-player groups such as Quaggans, Ogres, Hyleks. Friending these groups does 2 things, it means they are not your enemies friends, and they provide some small assistance in various ways.
Engineers are under-represented in WvW for a number of reasons. There are a few still, someday then may get some positive attention from the developers.
Travel with groups, assume you have invisible foes that want to see you lying lifeless on the ground. Stunbreaker, and toughness and fast reflexes are all good things.
Quick bottom line, travel with a group that has the goal of capturing camps, towers and more. Defending is currently not treated as well by the developers. Offense is valued way more than defense.
These are my opinions only, and are not necessarily endorsed by the developers or other players.
2/8/13 Eredon Terrace v Dolyaks v Dolyaks
Storm’s coming, Annie.
Dollie and Bessie are starting to look a little pale.
The absolute ratings on MOS won’t be accurate until Anet shares the new math, but despite this the rankings will probably still be right.
Right now MOS shows Kaineng will go into the 2/8 matchups in the #1 spot with a rating of 1686.809. The actual rating under the new math may be higher or lower (we don’t know yet) but that is unlikely to change the fact that whatever Kaineng’s new rating turns out to be, it will still be higher than the rating of any other server. So Kaineng will still be in the #1 spot either way.
It kind of has to be this way because all the ratings were reset for the 2/1 matchups. Since everyone started this past week rated at 1500.000, as far as the rating system is concerned all servers are equally powerful, and any historical evidence to the contrary (which was recorded using the ratings system) has been wiped out. This means that the scores from the 2/1 matchups are the only thing that can affect the new math. It stands to reason that servers with bigger scores will be ranked higher than servers with smaller scores, regardless of the exact math used.
-ken
Unless the new math takes into account some new factors (population? total unique WvW players?), Ken is likely correct. Historic “power” is removed with scores for all servers being reset to the same value. Possibly, they may “seed” tiers so each tier has a slightly different starting score. All speculation at this point.
It’s super funny to read some of the comments on what Anet needs to do to “optimize” the servers for performance, i mean, is not like they BUILT the whole system, so, maybe they know a whole lot more about how to optimize than any of you in here.
The QQing going on because of the delay is pretty fun to read too. People whine when things get released too soon and are buggy, but when they need to delay it to do QA testing whine even more. So many babies in here and I’m running out of popcorn!
They need to stop being cheap and get more bandwidth. Ever fought in a 3 way SM battle? WOOPS, your utility skills don’t work anymore !
Utility skills are so, last week.
I honestly think a monkey throwing darts at the list of servers could have picked better matchups than the reset will. Of course, the new math may resolve some of this.
There are 56 hours left in the match, 224 “ticks”. At +695 ppt, that’s a potential 155,680 (plus variable dolyak points) to be gained, yet. This match is way too early to call. All servers have stepped up the challenges in this match. Unless something really dramatic changes, we will meet again in T4.
Wait, what?
Portal Bombing, and moving slow(golems) group members around.
That’s a seriously scary Polar bear.
GW98 will be running in 2397. I won’t be around to verify the accuracy of this statement.
Don’t facebomb their social media points. These are the official forums and you see the attention we get.
Queue UI needs some updates; what we are queued for, an exit queue button, and some visible progress to “popping” indicator.
Until ArenaNet announces their “new math”, the MOS site is going on the same formula, but assigning everybody an initial score of 1500.
The resultant prediction shows how weak the system is when evaluating only against your tier mates. Unless some other metrics are added into the mix, average population, siege placed, keeps defended, keeps taken, amount of time queues are full, gold spent, armor repaired, and so on, the evenly matched opponents are considered mid-tier. Unevenly matched opponents lead to being sent to the top and bottom of the rankings. The announcement by Habib about the reset situation didn’t explain the “details”. So we wait, and wonder.
Dang.. I only killed 455 yaks yesterday, i didnt meet my quota. LOL that is so ridiculous
Get right back in that queue, you can hear them whispering your name in fear.
Those ranger bots (and their pet bears) are probably the reason escorting is so unrewarding now. But, since I have seen no bots lately, maybe they can reinstitute the rewards.
SM is really hard to “keep”.
What if the JP was the lobby for WvW?
Man is JQ not allowed to play during the weekends or something? The difference is astounding.
Union rules. I am unable to say any more.
Good match so far everyone. There have been good fights all around.
I spent earlier today yak slapping alone for a while on a fully green JQBL. Managed to rack up 130 points just from killing yaks. It was as if though I held Stonemist by myself for an hour.
Also got some easy loot from some JQ players while doing so. Those silly humans thought they could defeat me, but little did they know that I am destined to be the Overlord of all of Tyria.
Free beverages, meals and cookies will get you Overlord status really really quick.
Stop contesting when a thief tags on a defender or gate, then “stealths”.
On fortifications with inner/outer, contest on inner being attacked.
[edit:]Oops, the only fortifications with WP are double walled.

Here’s a video for your viewing pleasure while in queue! CDS on reset night on SoR map! I was in a 3+ hour queue but when I did get in garrison battles were off the charts!!
And Jedbacca, you forum warrior you, read the context next time!
P.S.
I still love you. I’ll never forget our drunken commanding days on SBI against Titan Alliance. (What we remember of it)you didnt miss anything from the first three hours miasmic… in fact all i remember is being lead off a cliff by a certain commander, its all a blur from there.
It’s not the being led off a cliff that’s a problem. It’s the landing.
There are 51 servers, but I see your point. Off by a factor of 2, small in the big picture.
This is really funny. ArenaNet is trolling us. Need that new math, stat!
My god… Sorrow’s Furnace has +670 right now and Eredon Terrace has +5.
Aye!!! Dem’ Sorrow’s Furnace be monsters!!!
Sorrow’s Furnace looking to the next few matches. 1) Kaineng, 2) Blackgate; no more +670 ppt
The WvW community of GW2 is by far the smallest of all 3 or maybe 4 if you count RP player bases. It’s easy to figure it out, just look at map limits and coverages.
Please show your numbers for this comment.
The limits argument “24+27 servers x 500” is a red herring. That’s the max at one time. There are way more of us that want to play, follow the play, and are leveling and building chars to play in wvw. WvW is a form of end-game for us that don’t really want to token/relic farm.
