Wait, what? You cheated by accident?
When I made the move from pve to wvw, I was an engineer. The costs for repairs from death after death from thieves and wars mostly, became a major concern. This would not be so bad if I was able to actually contribute, and get some kills myself. Sadly, this eventually taught me that the only chances I had with that kittened class was to run in the zergs, or run artillery. Learned to run, rather than fight. I understand there is some learning curve, but being rofl-stomped by /laughing invaders endlessly is seriously demoralizing. With exploits, culling/stealth, lack of emphasis on defense, and high emphasis on mobility. Some classes are just not balanced in wvw. So, I’m running a guardian, and raising my thief and soon mesmer to play. Ele/nec/war/ranger will be along soon.
Outmanned buff on player team means “money sink active”. Repair, siege, upgrades will be made, and the zerg will usually win.
Outmanned in particular does nothing useful vs the zergs or the costs.
Thick-skinned is a requirement to keep going, but people that have lives outside of wvw, may look at this as a waste of their time and money.
I fully expect the L2P comments to follow, but the wvw meta is not that hard, it’s the unbalanced aspects of this that are of concern. Zerging has become the dominant play-style. With a guardian, I do pay my way, but running around solo is still not going to pay off.
The goal isn’t to die for the cause, but to get your foes to die for their cause.
Arenanet seems to have real difficulty fixing exploits like this.
I want them to succeed, but reports to them, in the past, go into the “thanks for your report” category. Never to be heard from again.
There is no “call GM button/report exploit” capability.
Just don’t see things moving fast in the “we take our users reports seriously” category.
It would not take much to implement “game monitors” of dedicated players.
Changing the gm to 1) have no game skills, 2) toggleable steath, 3) ability to see all map/team/say chat channels, and any special anet channels for reporting, 4) Triple speed buff (to wander the map quickly) or a click on the map teleport skill, 5) To keep things clean, they lose ability to team with anybody but gms, lose guild/alliance chat, cannot gm on any server where their guilds have members. When visible, their name would be in yellow. It goes without saying that they are invulnerable, untargetable.
What would the gms get? 50 silver an hour, plus bonuses for confirmed exploit catches.
AoE that works on Zergs.
The update notes just say bugs/exploits fixed. The notes did not enumerate.
Once I finish that last goal “Been There, Done That”, my engineer is going on a long vacation. Sadly Arenanet balancing, isn’t about balance.
Time to finish my thief. Then off to work on my “Most Versatile class” ele.
Apparently they need that 8th class slot for something else.
Those over-powered engineers. I have seen all the whining about them in these forums, or NOT. After I get the “Been There, Done That”, I’ll retire my engineer from WvW. In WvW, I exist solely to provide easy kills for the other classes, most notably thieves. Turrets are a joke, grenades might be handy in some edge cases, or well, used to be. I’m switching to Warrior, Guardian, Thief, Elementalist and Mesmer. WvW has not shown much inclination to reward defense over offense and mobility. Zerging/Flipping is what WvW seems to have devolved to.
Patching for holidays, could be done more benignly on Thursdays. Followed by the inevitable “patch the update” before WvW reset.
Are you suggesting WvW players cannot focus on things other than nodes?
I spent endless hours on the Clock Tower, to never make it past the “leap of faith”. The Southsun Cove was hard (2-3 hours), but doable. I hope to see the next JP at the Southsun Cove level of difficulty.
I’d also like some sort of “environment” effect that made everybody the same size. Asurans being totally “engulfed” by Norns and Charr, does present some practical jumping difficulty.
Vanquishing pixels into pixel dust, is not killing.
I first experienced this 1 day ago, in WvW. And no slider setting changed the amplitude of the endless sine? wave sound. Not a harsh sound, but endless, unstoppable, unmutable is.
Thanks Jason King, we need and want more responses like this about things that seem so … iffy.
I saw this, and could do the same thing. If you look at your spawn point, there are 3 paths away from it, usually a main stairs leading to the center of the map, and 2 side paths leading to supply camps. The folk above are at the extreme limit of “invulnerable” range. 2 steps from that bluff, and they are back to normal. Expect this to continue until/if Arenanet puts the invulnerable line along the top of the bluff. Once you jump into play area, expect to fight. It is not exactly an exploit, but not right either.
Noticed this a lot today in Malchor’s Leap, 2 man party, me a guard, partner an Ele, in open terrain, near objects and underwater. And of course the Veteran Risen xyz seems to most like going invulnerable, fortunately I was only downed once.
Sign me up on these suggestions. Copy/Paste should work in chat.
If not an exact last login time, some sort of logged-in indicator. “Today”, “This week”, “This Month”, “This Year”; any indicator is better than what we have now.
Four (4) shared guilds is an ok limit for now, but some way to share more than the logged-in influence (which it seems all the guilds get).
An alliance wide chat (similar to GW1).
The permissions is granular enough for me, but I agree with splitting out “invite” from “promote/demote/kick”.
Bonus shows now, happy dance!
I’ve been on JQ since the 3 day pre-start. At this moment I should have a 4% Robust bonus in PvE.
In LA Overflow, I have 12,982
In LA JQ, I have 12982
In Heart of the Mists I have 13305
So I guess I’m broken, and sad.
I treat the 4 guilds I am in as my guild alliance. Is there plans to implement some sort of Alliance Chat similar to GW1. Thanks for your consideration.
There are smart economists, and those that can’t calculate things right, twice.
146g —> 73g when the real number is still 7.3g.
Yes, you are not making maximum potential profit, but those that sell lower actually get money, whereas those with items in perpetual “hold” in the TP do not.
