8/10 I like the simplistic look on him and it works well with the white fur.
Mine might look a little generic, I was going for kind of a tough look on my war (partly to scare away little thieves in wvw xD)
I’m not really interested in transfering
Thanks for the offer
Returning player here from ~5 month hiatus, looking to get back into wvw with a new guild because my previous one has disbanded.
I am NA, pacific time. I can often make it on reset night.
I’m currently rank 100 on my guard which is my main.
I like running with the group or doing ops sepparately, whatever we are doing.
LMK if you are a wvw guild looking to hire! (size isn’t huge issue for me as long as the guild is active ^^)
IGN is Odd Guard

Me Kill you.9035 / Odd Guard
Guardian
AH/Shouts/high atk,def and crit
Experience on all paths but not “expert”
Active most days a few hours at least
Don’t get upset with groups easily and good at following instructions.
Also very exp in fractals and enjoy doing 48/38 dailies
(edited by Me Kill You.9035)
My advice would be to mi and match til you get the stats you want.
I run dungeons/fractals with a few soldier pieces like boots/glove/helm/backpiece, knights on torso/legs and my gs, and the rest of my stuff is pretty much zerker.
Gives me 3k+ atk and armor, 19k life with ~30% crit chance and 65% crit dmg so I can deal nice sustained dps and not drop instantly if say a champ in fractals manages to get a good hit on me.
Play to what suits you, and once youre good with that, branch out more if you want
Actually because I’m left handed i play with my right hand on okl; for movement, but I see what you’re getting at, I am looking at a razer mouse and hopefully that will help
I’m asking mostly about in wvw/spvp, how do you guys position your hands/configure your buttons for effectively dueling? I am left handed and a lot of the time I kind of feel like Im kitten because often in duels It’s hard to cross my hand over to hit f1, f2, f3 or any of the number skill keys and still maintain movement/I don’t feel like I have a lot of fluidity which helps get me killed.
It’s really annoying because there are duels I know I would have won if I had a better setup (I am thinking of buying a gaming mouse to help so I can hotkey some of the numbers to new buttons).
But I’m curious, what are your guys setups like? Am I the only one with this problem?
After failing 6 or so times the other day with a pug group, i decided to look up tips to beat this boss and found a video on these forums of a guy soloing him by kiting the spiders.
I suggested it to my party and about 10 minutes later he was dead, first try. And only me and another guard were alive practically the whole time.
The trick to this method is surviving the immobi (I only got hit once) and having condi cleanser for cripple/dodge ahead of spiders. If you can do all these things you will be golden.
Nope. But more than one running the trait will spread it to more people if I’m not mistaken
A very good choice for zerging and coordinated group play is getting Virtues [VI] and taking Wall of Reflection and/or Sanctuary along with Stand Your Ground.
Knowing when/where to use your consecrations and doing it effectively can help your group tremendously for a number of different circumstances.
WoR speaks for itself, use where projectile reflection is necessary, and Sanctuary to block enemies from escaping/getting to you, block a choke (along with hammer/staff blocks) or to protect seige from enemy players. Also it heals so, theres that aspect too.
I think it’s silly that people are complaining so much about this boost to hom points.. I mean honestly achievement points are going to give you a few more shinies and laurels but it’s not going to give anyone anyone an advantage over someone else.
I don’t even have the gwamm but getting 35/50 was still a huge investment over years of playing gw1 and I’m not at all sad that anet decided to give a little more reward to people who invested that time.
The hom skins already rewarded are cool sure but 90% of them are just plain looking on the level of some low lvl gear if we’re being honest, only the weapons are really good, and the pets but that doesn’t help someone with no ranger lol
I have noticed when I have this trait equipped I don’t see it appear on any nearby allies, is this a bug? Is it just not showing that it’s affecting them?
Witnessed one person get Spark from their chest, credible person so I believe they actually did.
And Ive seen at least 10 asc items come out of chests before
(personally never got better than a crappy rare, ofc)
Something like 0/0/30/20/20 traited for AH and consecrations Is a great zerg (big group) build that almost always uses staff/hammer for the CC and might stacking,
You can switch out hammer for GS in smaller fights or if you want the pull/more aoe dmg
Those seiges were part of our tactics! Silly SoR and JQ will never understand our ways ahahahaha
Ah ya counted the wrong one as not being included
Well just had an epiphany.
The notes state that you must max 10/14 achievements to get the wings. And I just counted all the possible achievements and there are 15 total, but since the fireworks one doesn’t count, it leads me to believe that the dragonball achieves HAVE to count because they are part of the 14.
Makes me think that they are in fact just bugged atm, possibly because of the exploit I heard of that allowed people to get the achievements early? In any case I hope they provide some clarity soon, don’t think I’ll finish the second one yet until they do.
I only have the compete in 20 done, but I don’t even want to put in the effort to get the last 8 wins if it’s not going to count..
Has it been confirmed anywhere if the two Dragon Ball achievements really dont count towards maxing 10 out? Or are they both just bugged and dont count yet?
I find it hard to believe anet would make these achievements not matter but talking to 8 npcs standing right next to eachother does…
Could be that you aren’t getting good support from the group and that’s why you’re dying, likely you aren’t dodging enough and taking big hits that a zerk war can’t afford to continuously take.
Running 20/25/0/10/15 will give you good damage, but almost no latent survivability.
This means you have to rely on skill and effective dodges to stay alive, as most good warriors do.
Keep running and practicing until it feels more natural, it takes time but you’ll get there.
Ascended trinkets are available for laurels / wvw badges / commendations now as well, only thing still fotm exclusive is the backpiece.
I don’t think theyre going to make a 5k difference in damage, maybe your friend had sigil of strength on his gs or something similar?
I’m curious as to how much trouble the groups nowdays would have with the ‘original’ flame effigy.
Use to have massive regen when it had its crystals around, and required a mix of dps and conditions like poison to bring him down effectively, and it was hard back then when I was in all greens (not sure about other ppl lol) but we could get it down to 25%
It would be fun to try it now that a lot of ppl are more exp and have better gear
Im very exp in PvE and getting into WvW more now and have decent exp in that too.
If you are a guild with a mix of both (guild missions important too) then please conctact me and let me know! Thanks
E: Just feel like adding I have lvl 80 Guard (main), War, Mes, and Thief

Sure the first time you do a dungeon, it’s totally understandable to want to see all there is to see in it, all the mobs, bosses and their mechanics etc. Heck maybe you want to do it that way a few more times after that.
If your intentions are for the gear or loot ($$) alone, which if you’re playing a dungeon many times I can only assume that is your intention, why would you feel you need to go through every mind numbing trash mob and obstacle that offer little to no reward?
There is no logical reason I can think of. Now I’m not saying people who want to play 100% of the dungeon are wrong in any way, it was all put there to be played. But I have to repeat what others are saying that is YOUR choice and If you do not agree with how other do it, stop qqing on the forums (you will not find sympathy here for trying to make others conform to your ways) and form groups of other like minded people.
Who knows, maybe after running arah for the 20th time to get those armor/weapons you really want you’ll start to see it from a new angle..
Wanted to post my new thief’s name, pays homage to gw1 and one of my favorite builds
“Assassins Promise”
Above – 7/10, clever lol
I’ve failed on shaman maybe 5 times total and I run 48 almost daily. If your teams keep failing, you might need to look at how you are approaching the fight and/or communicate with your team more to get a game plan.
I think the fight can be less annoying than the champ grawl before him (I swear they increased vet spawn rates and rocks don’t spawn when they need to…
There is a better chance for a skin at 40+, but lower lvls are not useless. Ive got almost as many skins on 20+ and 30+ as I have from 40+ (12 total)
It’s RNG and all based on luck, but running 40+ will increase your chances slightly.
he has a point. nearly ALL karma stat combinations are completely worthless for PvE and you’d cripple your group completely if you’d be running with one of the karma sets.
True, they do have some mismatched stats that are 90% of the time totally useless (only good ones are pwr/tough/vit I think)
But you can’t expect everyone to immediately grasp that, and that the best stats are bought on TP or acquired through other means. You gotta let people make mistakes sometimes so they can learn on their own
(edited by Me Kill You.9035)
If you go down too frequently and people whine about that, just use bowl of fire salsa and explain that it’s actually a part of strategy.
Lol. I can picture a warrior trying to explain that the reason he goes down on purpose is for “extra rock dmg” xD
I play War, Mes and Guard in all dungeons and I love em, but that’s not going to stop me from making a thief because I think I’ll have a lot of fun with one and it’s another char to run said dungeons with.
Many groups just ask for zerker gear but dont care about class, which is the best for almost all builds anyway, so it’s not too much of an issue
deal with it!
1. it protects the leader from getting kicked
2. changing it look like a HUGE work load for the programer..
3. call in guildies. if you pug, its a dungeon at your own risklol, i guess you’re one of the griefers that likes it the way it is lol !
protect the leader ? the leader was the jack kitten lol !
besides they already made dungeons work even if the leader is kicked doing the same to fractals is a must now to stop the stupid griefers.
If anyone sounds like a griefer here…
Right now being the dungeon starter is the only thing protecting against kicks from f***ed up people who like to kick and invite their friends.
So to anyone who is a quitter and likes to leave halfway through, just don’t start it. That’s about all I can say about this…
S/F, S/S or S/P. Full melee always.
This. mes should try to always be in melee. S/F best
Staff. Chaos Storm alone wins over the whole greatsword.
Staff is OK. Great in some situations even. But how have you been arguing that mes are not that useful because of low dps and then recommend staff which is a purely defensive wep?
(edited by Me Kill You.9035)
Optimal group for ‘almost’ every aspect of PvE:
3x War, Guard, Mes
/thread
lol but seriously no new info has come into this thread for a while, on to new topic? (read:argument)
You have to take into account as well, mes isn’t just dpsing through hitting with her weapon, its also shattering clones which add a lot of burst dmg, and they’re very easy to quickly replenish.
Also mes has a ton of invuln sources with f4 and blurred frenzy so they can stay in melee range and keep swinging with sword
The main issue is probably that you can’t stop to res anyone who is downed because then you’ll get the burning on you :/
If you really want the achievement Id recommend rolling on lvl 1 til you get grawl and trying it on that
Mesmer having decent dps? You consider extremely weak autoattacks and instant-death illusions are stong damage? I believe a GS warrior only using Hundret Blades (no autoattacks or other skills) will do more damage than a mesmer.
Mesmer auto attack with sword (which is your dps weapon) inflicts vuln on strike 1-2 and strips potential protective boons on strike 3, and yes a zerk mes will have decent dps with it.
Warrior with GS doing more dmg than mes, hm, who would have though? Not seeing your point >_>
And a good mes doesn’t always try keep illusions alive, they sac as necessary to apply vulnerability/gain invuln. Only time you need them up is for heals, or if traited to get the extra 3% dmg per active illusion.
Think he was being sarcastic about impressing him guys.
Any pokemon gb fan (call us what you will) knows of the nuzlocke challenge, now THAT kitten is fun and challenging but there’s so many different interpretations of the rules, not everyone follows the same.
Seems to me It’s a personal challenge more than anything, don’t know if I’ll try it, but some people might enjoy it.
Just checked, and I have this achievement done. The description says “without falling in the lava” which obviously means what it sounds like, and I’m not sure if there are other hidden requirements for it.
I got it on a random 48 run about the 100th time doing shaman so I really cant say if anything was different that run, If you do it enough times chances are you’ll get it eventually
double wich boons? ou get 25 might easily anyway..
Time warp nerf makes sure to not compensate foir inferior mesmer DPS comparing to war/guardsPulls enemies….unreliable better using binding blade….
Feedback is good but its short and has long CD.
Feedback and iWarden are the only thing a mesmer brings…and when 1 guard can do it better than 3 mesmers…why bother?
1. Temporal curtain is so easy to ball mobs up with on an exact location (against a wall for ex) and you don’t even have to be near to do it
2. True feedback has a slightly long cd, as do most reflect skills but it covers a whole area 360 degrees and can be traited to have shorter cd which fits many builds anyway. I almost never use iWarden with the intent of reflecting only, but it offers decent dmg coupled with reflect for nice combo if it stays alive
3. No other class can bring precision quickness to an entire group and for a long duration – how is this not good?
I main guard but have equal if not more fun on my mes, no other class brings such utility coupled with raw dmg as well (if you’re not using mh sword for dps purpose you’re doing it wrong[speaking generally here..], vulnerability and boon stripping with ability for 2s invuln while doing nice dmg)
So good/fun to play. I would recommend for anyone regardless of what you plans are for playing it.
(edited by Me Kill You.9035)
You’ll call us scrubs the day you do decent arah runs in the first place. If you’re part of all these groups who range lupicus you’re a scrub just like the rest of the people you’re calling scrubs.
Well, to be fair Ive done arah many times ( can’t help but love some of the armors there..) and I only did him the range way just because I didn’t know people did that, If I had know I would have learned.
And next time I find myself there, I plan to try it, I’m sure its not really that hard, you don’t even have to move LOL
it blows my mind how some people can act elitist over the easiest path, in the easiest dungeon, in the entire game.
anyways
Welcome to the club
Before anyone has a chance to rant about Hammer’s post, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this is a random (probably wvw) build he has on, I dont want to come in here and see meaningless flaming, guys!
KEEP IT CLEAN YOU kittenERS
No, you can;t just leave halfway through to advance to the next level, or get the end chest/daily reward.
Odd # levels will have 3 instances, (1-3-5-9 etc), and even ones will have 3 + bonus stage which is Jade Maw, after killing him you get a chest, and if it’s your first time doing that level bracket for the day you will get a daily reward which can give you ascended rings, more relics, or a fractal skin.
(1-9)(10-19)(20-29)(30-39)(40-49) are currently the completeable brackets.
I’d be interested to hear about this other method, but keep in mind not everyone likes to ‘power trade’ or some other form of market manipulation.
If its something else, then I’m all ears
Deredge fractal is almost always the longest, and it only gets worse at higher levels unfortunately. It’s only saving grace is the best loot drops of all the fracs.
The first part (in the giant cage) requires 1 on each of the two switches which opens the middle panel, then you need someone to stand there and unlock the main door (takes about 20s and they cant be hit). It helps to clear the left side, then have one person kite around the others to keep aggro off whoever’s on the mid panel.
The bomb door is pretty annoying and it can take 2 tries or 20…
The boss Rabsovich’s main attack can down most classes in 1 hit so you have to avoid that and most group get the boss behind the cart in the middle and kill him there first, and the mobs after.
Once you do it a few times it starts to feel more natural, like all frac/dungeons
There are a lot of people on both sides of this. While I am inclined to be on the side of people who think everyone should be able to run with whatever they choose, just because that’s how I am I guess, I totally can see the other side and the fact that some builds are just not made for dungeons AT ALL.
People need to find a compromise so that people who don’t want to have to make a war/mes to do the most viable farm (at the moment) can still paticipate on a larger scale, but aren’t using builds that just don’t belong there in the first place.
As has been stated many times, 90% of it is player skill, and in the hands of a skilled player, any half-decent build can contribute to the group.
(Of course there’s always going to be the people who want 5 min runs every time, I partake in this on both war and mes sometimes but its too high maint for me to run all dam day)
Just as if anet would care about that.
If enough people complain of the same issue they will have to.. eventually..
