Confusion dmg increased by 33%

This sounds a lot appealing, taking into account the numbers I’m already scoring

I might even be tempted to play condition mesmer in pve more often than not (even though mesmer will still be seeked for the reflects, oh well still fun for open world pve).

The 10k confusion ticks will make my condi build more satisfying

Suggestion for condition in pve

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

A recurrent topic in the gw2forums is how conditions suck in pve. It’s no wonder they do.

The main reason they suck it’s not even the “cap issue”, it’s more that the overall dps is low. Even if you manage to tick 2k bleed and 800 burning per second, that’s still low damage when a warrior swings 3k in 0,5s.

However, that same damage in pvp is very good and sometimes even OP because you can hide while the conditions ticks. In pve you don’t need to hide while you wait for your conditions to do the job: you hug the boss’s feet and spam damage while dodging key attacks.

My suggestion is to increase condition damage coefficients ONLY in PVE, so that you can promote the use of AT LEAST one condition class in a dungeon run.

I mean, you are introducing Revenants whose skills apply a lot of torment and other conditions, you lately introduced sinister gear that promotes the use of conditions and gives also the offensive of power gear, but yet there is no reason to go conditions in pve.

Moreover, my suggestion wouldn’t be nothing extraordinary, since you ALREADY did something like this with confusion: confusion damage got halved in wvw and pvp and now, with HoT coming, you are increasing its damage by 33% in pve. Why don’t you increase the damage of other conditions in pve as well, while you are at it?

There are classes like necros that are constantly shunned or engineers whose grenades’s damage partially relies on conditions (ok, engineers are still very good, even though very rare to find decent ones in dungeon runs).

My suggestion wouldn’t change anything in pvp and wvw but it would promote the use of conditions in pve and add more variety. It would also promote the use of the newly introduced sinister gear and of at least one condition specced class in dungeons (it might be harder to compete for burning application, but it’s not that easy to stack torment and confusion to 25 and even bleeding usually caps at 10 when everyone is specced for direct daamge, so ONE condition specced class could actually work).

Just make them competitive and useful in pve too, even if just in a solo setting or in dungeons with 1/5 party members specced in conditions.

Teragriff OP

I can melt any mordrem mob without being even hit. After spending some time in SW I came to learn their attack patterns and they are all easy to deal with… but teragriffs.

- Mordrem Vines: get near them and immediatly dodge back; they’ll quickly do their high damage spin attack and then you have a big enough time window to delete them. They take huge damage. Very entertaining to see numbers flow on them

- Mordrem Spinning Thrasher:
it is a very annoying mob mostly because it moves around too much. Best way to deal with them is to land a snare right before they start to spin, so that they’ll spin in place while showing you their back: at that point they take huge chunk of damage and get destroyed within 2s.

- Mordrem Leecher: very easy to deal with. There is a huge time window between its attacks: if you melee it for long, it’ll vomit an aoe that leechs hp from enemies. When you see the animation starting, dodge back and wait it out (or it’ll get back too much hp), then back to melee him. Alternatively, start from range so that it actually does the homing vine attack which can be avoided by simply circling around him (the vine will pop up close to you but not hit you). I like to test my damage on these because they put up little fight.

- Mordrem wolves: their bites and lunges are very painful and they also run after you when they have “prepared” their attack. Best way is to snare them when you see them charging you: they’ll jump in place and then you can destroy them. They have little hp. Landing a stun after they howl also gives you plenty of time to delete them. If you are 1vs1, easy to deal with. When you are somehow rooted or laying on the ground, they are deadly though.

- Mordrem Husks: not even a threat. They are slow, they only root with an underground vine that goes on a straight path and they melt under conditions, even if you have low cond dmg. On My condi mesmer (2.3k condition damage) I 2shot them with confusion (6.6k confusion). They just have high armor, making direct damage not much effective. However, a thief or ele will still destroy them.

- Mordrem charging teragriff: uuggh. The charging ones can indeed be kept at bay by slowing them. What annoys me is the huge radius of the charge that launches me in the air even if I’m far away from the teragriff. Also, 2 of them are gg. When they both start charging and you end up in the middle, it’s hopeless. Even if you have a stun breaker, they are somehow perfectly coordinated so that the charge intervals are slightly phased out and it’s twice more likely to get hit. You basically start being thrown in the air like a ball and bounce around, while taking damage from the FGS fields they leave on the ground. Moreover, the attack does huge damage (the upscaled ones can hit up to 8k per charge tick. That’s kittened. It’s the same damage of a telegraphed wolf’s bite but they do it every second and it CCs too, making you suck it full)

- Mordrem teragriff torpedo: this I really don’t know how to deal with. They just sit there, plant their “things” on the ground and start sending those homing vines that always hit you. At least the leecher’s vines are easily avoidable by simply walking around, but these ones can only be dodged. How bad that you have just 2 dodges and they spam this skill 10 times every sec and each vine hits for 3k. The only tactic is to burn them fast and suck up the damage, in other words: overwhelm them before they overwhelm you. That, or stun them, but then they immediatly start doing it again (because it’s the only thing they do) so it’s no big deal in the end.

Yeah, I feel you.

First time buying dyes for me as well, convinced that I would have at least gotten one shadow dye and instead I end up with a green shade dye that is worth less than 1s. After re-reading, I notice that the package contains one of 25 dyes and so not only shadow but also “shade”.

I cursed in map chat for a good 10 mins. It really felt like a scam, with the little things written small and that huge dye pack with “SHADOW” printed all over it. Let’s even say “shade”.

I had to marathon 10 dungeons to get back those 19g. Never did such fast speedruns in my life.

Fortunately I only bought 125 gems with gold but this served as a lesson. Never buy dyes in the TP again. Never. I should have bought the shadow dye I wanted straight from the TP: it would have cost me just 7g more. I really thought one shadow was guaranteed lol. How disappointing.

Can we get simple/plain black weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Metallus.7690

Like really, there is no abyss black weapon in gw2 if not for the legendary Twilight GS.

What about weapons that are simply black in their wholeness? Like the black version of chaos weapons but with a black smoke instead of white.

That was honestly what I was expecting when I saw “Shadow weapons on TP”, but instead I found what seem to be wintersday or some other stuff weapon with a blackened blade and a gray hilt with horns and “things”.

The closest I can get to black are Teqatl’s weapons or Dreamthistles ones (which are actually green/blue but have the black smoke that is very cool).

I find the lack of BLACK weapons disturbing.

The max I could pull off was 11k on a mordrem mob

However, I usually do 3.5k – 4k and when buffed (or the target debuffed) I can score 5.5k – 6.5k.

It’s still depressing damage when on warrior or thief you can pull off way more while providing a lot more to your party.

Masterful of reflection

in Mesmer

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

Does it purposely not proc out of Triumphant Distortion?

Because I noticed that it procs from the distortion granted by the 4th shatter and by the signet trait that gives distortion on signet use but not from the XIII in duelling.

If it’s intented, it makes no sense. It would make more sense if this was a bug, therefore giving mesmer one more source of reflects. Afterall mesmers are looked mainly for reflects/portals, so you might as well give us something more than guardians who provide everything (I didn’t mention pulls because virtually any class can CC a pack of mobs or a boss with some CC move).

This would be very useful against pack of mobs who make heavy usage of projectiles (CM), giving yourself a 3s reflection every 10s.

Only in this case I would feel compelled to pick up this trait, otherwise it makes no sense why I should spend 2 points in illusions to get a 3s reflect every 40s and that needs me to destroy my illusions/phantasms. And I won’t obviously pick that signet trait for a 1s reflect every 30-60s for signet usage. There are many more precious traits in duelling than kitten signet traits.

Highest DPS for PvE

Metallus.7690

Thief 6/6/0/0/2 d/d can dish out obscene amounts of damage. If you couple it with an ele in party that provides conjures and you spec into improvisation, thief deals the highest conjure damage. Moreover it’s way easier to survive on thief. Thief is the profession where I see the highest numbers.

Elementalist can stack might and provide permanent fury, beside providing conjures and high personal dps. However they are made of kitten and die very easily.

Warrior provides very good steady damage, offers very good offensive party support and got very good survivability with that huge health pool and heavy armor. It’s easy to play and it’s a “safe bet” in pugs.

Mesmer dps varies depending on the situation: if reflects are the main part of a boss battle, they can provide the highest dps, otherwise the lowest.

Engineers deal very competitive dps and can keep up 25 stacks of vuln at all times, which translates in a 25% bonus damage to whole party. It’s only that it’s very rare to find engineers, especially good ones.

Warrior or Thief?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

- Thief: currently the best single target dps, recently they got the ability to cleave with dagger. Low health pool but got many active defenses like spammable dodges and blinds. Paired with an ele, can deal monstrous damage with conjures. Can easily stack stealth/might by blasting shortbow 2nd skill on smoke/fire fields respectively. Oh, and of course a thief can provide stealth for the entire party in order to skip silly parts in dungeons.

- Warrior: highest hp pool, heavy armor, HP regenerating overtime, awesome offensive support with banners, Empower Allies, FGJ, can easily sustain 20-25might for entire party if traited in phalanx strength and has got very good cleaving damage. Easier to play than thief and also does more damage when more enemies are present. It got nerfed in the recent patches, but still deals very respectable damage. Thief is still superior in terms of dps, especially if an ele is present in party, but it’s easier to keep up the dps with a warrior since it’s easier to survive and you can just facetank most things. It’s more noobproof.

I usually main warrior in any videogame and gw2 is no exception, however as of recently I’ve been playing a lot on my thief. Seeing those huge numbers is too much satisfying. Both warrior and thief can pop big numbers

Sigil of air/fire or force/night?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

Since sigils of air and fire can proc at the same time, providing a good dps increase, I was wondering whether it outdps’d night/force or not in a pve environment.

I do understand that against world bosses force/night is better because you can’t crit on them and therefore you can’t proc air/fire, but in dungeons you can crit and benefit from them.

So, which set is better and by how much is it better? Like, if force/night is a 15% dps increase, how much % dps increase does air/fire provide, assuming they proc on CD? I’m fine with a straight answer but if you can back it up with data I’ll be happier.

You just need to blind mobs with “Black Powder” and autoattack. Throw in a “Pistol Whip” if you feel like it but really, you don’t need anything else outside of the 1st and 5th skill to level.

SB is good to range or to blast combo field with the 2nd skill, but in open world pve you don’t need to combo any field. You just need to deal damage.

If you want to try out something different, you might find d/d funnier: CnD, BS, AA and HS.

I don’t see what the problem would be. What does it matter whether you’re lvl80 fighting a lvl80 or lvl5 fighting a lvl5 if the level-scaling works well? Should be the exact same thing, no? Exact same personal difficulty, no?
(That’s assuming scaling is fixed, obviously right now downleveled stuff is vastly easier)

Do you play the game? I kind of wonder …. do you know what a build is?

Downleveling destroys builds – just in case you never noticed. Running a phalanx warrior … good luck with the lowered crit chance. And you want to lower it even more because if you run berserker in a low level zone which only has +strength you’d lose out entirely on the +crit +crit damage if we’d do downleveling your way.

So … remove every trait that is benefitting from crits because your crit chance would be … oh … like < 10%.

Downleveling was ANets attempt of solving the common “deserted low level zones” problem every MMO has – no other MMO I played has this mechanism. It didn’t work … most high level players champ train in Frostgorge or Cursed Shore and only foragers/gatherers are really in the lower level zones (because requiring T3,T4 and T5 materials for gear is yet another attempt from ANet to force players into the low level zones).

I am frequently levelling new Characters (building an Asura army) and I can tell you … if my level 80 mesmer would take as long in a level 25 zone as my level 25 meser does … I would switch to another game …

Mhm yeah, allright, you know what you are talking about, <10% crit chance

Upgrade Extractor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

One extractor would cost the equivalent of 25g (And I’m using the gems2gold conversion rates, therefore assuming you are paying money for it) and the only sigil you might want to extract is “sigil of generosity” that goes for 78g buyout.

Even then, if the sigil is account bound or, worse, soulbound, the usefulness of this item falls underground. It’d be way more convenient to salvage the weapon for the sigil (that can be sold or re-used) and get a new weapon (preferably with dungeon tokens) OR buy a new sigil alltogether (It surely won’t cost more than 25g if it’s a common one; most of the time it’ll be around 5g)

As of now, I see no reason to buy the extractor. It’s simply counterproductive, inefficient and not convenient. I spend less money buying a new weapon with a new sigil. (I didn’t bring runes in the discussion simply because they don’t cost more than 13g buyout and would be unable to justify the purchace of the extractor in ANY CASE).

TL;DR: it’s garbage

It’s convenient, very time efficient, I can’t really complain about it, but I didn’t mind grinding mobs/nodes/events to finish the daily (even though sometimes you could accomplish 3 achievements by doing one dung run).

new d/d meta build?

in Thief

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

I’ve tried out the build and it is indeed very powerful. The amount of damage I can output is simply obscene, even more than warrior (ye, I knew that on chart thief was better, but everytime thieves joined dungeon groups, they dealt little damage).

However, I want to be sure I’m doing it right. Intuitively, to trigger the 200 AP bonus from “revealed”, I have to first stealth and what better way of doing so by “cloak and dagger”; at the same time, I have to stay above 6 initiative to benefit from the 10% dmg bonus, so what I’m currently doing is:
CnD – BS – AA chain x2 – CnD – BS – AA chain x2 . . .. .
This way I can keep up the revealed “buff” for a good 75% of the time and I’m always above 6 initiative. I’ve tried CnD – BS – AA chain x1 and I can keep up the buff all the time, but I’m not always above 6 initiative. When the target drops to 25%, activate signet for 15% bonus dmg and HS x5.

Am I doing something wrong? What should I do and not do? Should I include something else in the rotation? Also, when I can’t attack from the sides, is frontal backstab still convenient or a dps loss?

I’m using SB as other weapon to range in hairy situations or to blast might/stealth when needed.

Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated

Your game prevents me from killing wurm

Metallus.7690

It’s 4 days I’ve been trying to get my 3rd kill on the great jungle wurm in order to complete my LAST achievement from Triple Trouble but whatever I do, your server does everything possible to hinder me in any way it can.

First of all, I don’t lag anywhere, I can complete and I’ve completed Teq without lagging or DC’ing before, during and after the event, I don’t have connection issues and any other kitten you usually bring up to blame it on your players.

Everytime I try to join the TS organized wurm map; I manage to get in the right map, I start killing mobs in order to get corruption or bloodlust stacks and 5min before the event is going to start, I start getting HUGE skill delays, I get trapped in lagspikes lasting up to 2 mins to crash in the end. When I relog, not only I lost all my stacks, but it’s impossible to join back to the previous map, with the result that I’m forced to do the event with 5 people who have no idea of why they are there.

The one single time everything goes well and I manage to survive through that lame lagspike that usually kicks in exactly 5min before the event begins (it always happens, tested), that one single time I survive throughout the entire event, that one single time that every wurm is on 2% hp what happens? I get trapped in a 1min lagspike and I crash. But it’s not finished yet, because I somehow manage to relog back in the SAME map: I get some hits off the wurm in order to tag but here again I get trapped in an endless lagspike: I’m unable to cast anything, everything around me is stuck on the spot but the timer keeps running until it hits 0:00 and stays on 0:00 for a good minute, before I get a second crash. When I log back, the wurm is dead and I got no credit for it whatsoever.

What kind of magic and sorcery is necessary in order to play your game without having to withstand such nonsense?

… just why? Weren’t things fine before? I don’t think anyone ever complained about the gold2gem system being “confusing”. Hell, people are complaining about things that have been ignored for YEARS and still are being ignored and what you do is changing of your own accord a feature everyone was fine with to actually make it WORSE.

Being able to buy a fixed amount was just perfect, because if you wanted to get that one item goin for 125 gems, you could just buy your 125 gems. Now what? I should spend a fortune to buy a bulk of 400gems and being left with 275 that are not elegible to buy anything else, unless I convert more gold2gems of course and get other bulks.

It just makes no sense. Revert it back the way it was.

I’m one of the people who saved every red cent i earned for a month in order to be able to purchase the greatsaw skin immediately after the first halloween ended.

It is VERY upsetting to hear so many people crying and complaining to Anet to give them the skins again….. because they have ALWAYS been available on the trading post, just expensive.

They were ALWAYS expensive, even after the first halloween.

Bullkitten

GS skin was on TP for 200g for a good while.

I had recently joined the game at the time and was farming my way up to 200g. When I reached my 200g goal, news came that GS skin wouldn’t have been available on the following halloween, and prices skyrocketed to 1k and above and above.

I was like 1 week late, so no, it wasn’t always 1.9k with orders starting from 1.3k. Hell, some people even put it up for 5k now, just what the kitten? With those money I can buy a legendary lol

Also, it makes no sense that all other old skins have been reintroduced while only a VERY FEW skins remained unobtainable outside of TP with abominable prices. Or better, it’s reasonable for them to exploit the inflation and leave things as they are so that they milk more money through gems2gold system, but you realize it’s ugly. Just ugly.

- ca 40s delays on skills: my skills just keep flashing after having been activated. After almost 1min passed, the skills finally get activated all at once. Lagspikes occur every 5s and last for at least 20s. The game is “playable” only for the 20% of the time and always with at least 1s delay on everything. People in chat are lamenting too
- exactly 2:27 min to load LA, like really, what the hell? And then crash after 6min ingame lagging.

PVE Solo Roaming?

I find myself comfortable with
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArYhUMKZW2wACrEBDACxmLDFYUNxn2UC-TFCBwAGV+JRJI29Hwp+DgHAQK9AJM/p/EAQGg8JA-w

It’s meant for SOLO pve where you are all alone. Since I’m often in a hurry, I don’t have the time to stack might/fury at every fight and so I try to pump out the most I can from passive buffs. It’s based on camping water attunement with LH. You get:
10% dmg from vital striking trait
10% dmg from scholar runes
20% dmg from piercing shards which gets activated when the target is vulnerable. Since LH doesn’t have access to vuln, I went for weak spot trait so that you apply vuln on crit
10% dmg from stone splinters
20% dmg from bolt to the heart when target is under 33% hp.

I gave up on:
10% dmg from burning rage which is triggered only when the target is burning and the only way to apply burn is with burning precision which only has a chance to apply 1s burn.
x % dmg from bountiful power which is triggered only when you have boons. I rarely have any at all
20% crit chance from fury. I have 83% crit chance at all times anyways, so whatever

I’m using glyph for healing skill because of the reduced CD and the 10s regen that comes from water attunement.
I took arcane blast instead of wave for the reduced CD which allows me to have a 75% uptime on arcane lightning which grants me 10% crit dmg.

I run Scepter/dagger for the burst damage when I run out of LH charges. You could go for d/d but you miss the burst that comes from switching to lightning attunement and lightning strike. Doesn’t really matter much since you camp LH all the time.

Quite self sufficient build that provides you the buffs and debuffs you need to trigger your damage modifiers when you are all alone and that grants you some more hp and regen for survivability.

Chat messed up, lag issues and what not

After the new patch hit the server, I’ve been getting a stable 1s delay on everything: this comprehends skills, chat, TP, crafting, salvaging… everything is delayed by 1-2s at almost all the times now.

I see that more and more people are having issues about this and there is a big thread about that, but what I’m reporting is another bug that happened today to me:

We were in AC and I was trying to talk to my mates, but my messages simply didn’t get through. There was also this bad ranger in the team who was getting us wiped and one of my mate proposed the kick: I was desperately trying to second the kick vote but it simply didn’t get through.

After like 1-2 mins, n error messages flooded my screen. The error message you can see in my screenshot flashed like 20 times, which is approximately the number of messages and the number of second kicking I was trying to get through.

I was able to chat again near the end of the dungeon, then again the chat messed up and I couldn’t talk- In all of this, I didn’t crash. Also, when I tried to check the TP, sometimes it would give some kind of timeout error message or saying “you have to login”….

Just what the hell is going on with your servers? Oh, and for instance, it was perfectly fine before patch, I didn’t change anything and even tested my connection to see if it were me but guess what?

Major Skill Delay/Lag since new patch

Ugh, it’s always the same story with any major patch.

Currently 1s delay on everything, even chat. The TP is just nervewrecking; huge loading times, if it loads at all. Selecting some tabs also takes its kitten time.

I guess I’ll wait for “that” patch to fix all this BS, then I’ll be back playing.

Ugh, unplayable

World events are the worst, with their kitten lagspikes. And no, I haven’t had this kind of problem if not for the past two weeks so the problem is not on my end.

Why is the game lagging so much recently?

Just did teq encounter and it was terrible:
38s to switch attunement
23s to summon conjures
1min and 21s to get back to dps teq after the defend event (because the server kept teleporting me back on the same spot like 30-40 times)

I couldn’t land ONE SINGLE HIT on teq during the 2nd and 3rd phase because skills kept flashing without doing anything for 30s+ . I got credit for the event just because I range-dps’d during the first phase, then everything went to kittens.

Just before someone comes in and says “What pc you have, what settings you running etc”, just know that I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS for months now. The past week has been horrible, now it’s just unplayable. The more crowded the place, the more physically impossible to play.

I even dc’d after teq died because looting the chest took like 43s. When I logged back, I ended up in another map with no chest… pff

Meh, it’s the whole week I’ve been getting these lagspikes: I see people teleporting around, chat lags, skills lag, salvaging lags and using any movement skills is just a curse because I get teleported back and forth from the spot where I used it, making it not convenient to use them at all.

Two days ago I got trapped in a 26s lagspike and, after it ended, it looks like I’ve been downed and rallied 3 times during that time. Really, it’s awful at the moment.

Even this morning, doing cof p1 was such a pain with the 2-3s delay on everything.

Question about Lich Form

in Necromancer

Posted by: Metallus.7690

Metallus.7690

No really, something is wrong here

I was in Lich form against AC boss and I was hitting 1.1k. When the effect ended, I switched to DS and I was hitting 1.6k.

Why the hell am I hitting so low with Lich Form? I thought that maybe the skill was somehow bugged with my previous stats, so I changed my elite back and forth, reset my traits, re-equipped my gear. The result is always is the same, what the hell?

Here’s another screen, without might to better compare damage:

I thought Deathly Claws would have done way more damage than life blast. The only thing that changes is that the former is 1/4s faster but that’s not enough to justify one elite slot with 3min CD

Full berserker, night sigil as well and still hitting kitten numbers. (Working on scholar runes, midway through bonuses tho)
1.1k noncrits and 2.5k crits. That’s incredibly low, what the hell is wrong? My DS hits way harder.

I tried on a dolyak just to see the difference in damage and the result is kinda the same (I even used blood is power to get 10 might before entering lich form)

Question about Lich Form

in Necromancer

Metallus.7690

Hi there

I’m currently playing DS build 6/2/0/0/6 using staff when in DS to maximize LB damage (that’s what I read). I also slotted Lich Form because it was just kitten but it looks like I’m doing something wrong:

Deathly claws hits… for low damage. I was expecting it to hit pretty hard, like 5k np, but it hits for less than LB. I’m actually better off standing in DS rather than in lich form.

I ran CoF to test it out and my damage on the last boss was 3.5k LB and 2.5k Deathly Claws. That was rather disappointing but everywhere I read that Lich Form does obscene damage and such.

What am I doing wrong, beside running Lich Form in the first place?

Thanks for your attention

S/D LH: 6/6/2/0/0 or 6/2/2/4/0 ?

in Elementalist

Metallus.7690

Thanks all for the answers

I’m asking this because I usually play with guildmates and we do speedruns; during said runs, I usually pre-stack might, drop conjures and go in.

Against wall bosses, I drop FGS almost immediatly and the boss usually dies within seconds so I actually never did a full rotation. Against normal mobs, they get 2shot, and elites melt anyways and I never get to the point of dropping LH and using lightning strike and RTL.

So far I’ve been playing 6/4/2/2 or 6/2/2/4. I went to the pvp mall to test out the difference in damage between 6/6/2 and 6/2/2/4 and the latter gave an higher LH damage.
6/6/2: max 3rd AA on target with <33% hp = 5k – 5.5k
6/2/2/4: max 3rd AA on target with <33% hp = 6.5k – 6.8k (I took sigil with vuln on hit in order to proc piercing shards and simulate vulnerability up)

So what I’m probably asking is which of these 2 builds offers the most in very short or short fights and I would also like to know which one maximises my FGS damage.

S/D LH: 6/6/2/0/0 or 6/2/2/4/0 ?

in Elementalist

Metallus.7690

Hi there

I’ve read the sticky about s/x LH builds and they are all 6/6/2.

However, I’ve been suggested by some guildmate another build that is 6/2/2/4 and is based on camping water attunement to get the bonuses from piercing shards and vital striking (total 30% dmg more).

Which of the two builds deals the most damage?
6/6/2 receives 10% dmg boost , 9% crit chance and 13% crit dmg
6/2/2/4 receives 30% dmg boost
In terms of sheer damage, the latter build seems to offer more but I don’t know how to exactly take into account how much that crit% and crit dmg influence my dps and how much the attunement dancing to land the lightning strike in the former build increases dps.

Thanks for your help

Question about sigils and runes in pve

in Warrior

Metallus.7690

If you are running 6/6/0/2/0 (6/6/0/0/2) or 6/5/0/0/3 with full ascended zerk then force is more optimal than accuracy.

Without a sigil of accuracy if you factor in Fury your crit chance should be close to or above 100% making sigil of accuracy a bit pointless if you are running an optimal build.

If you have 100% crit rate and 210% crit damage, dropping to 93% crit rate and getting 5% total damage from force would actually improve your dps, not lower it.

Assume 100 attacks with a base damage of 100 per attack.

Set up A (accuracy sigil, 100% crit chance, 210% crit damage):
100*210 = 21000 total damage. Basically 100 critical hits.

Set up B (force sigil, 93% crit chance, 210% crit damage):
(93*210)+700 = 20230 + 5% from force = 21241.5 total damage. Here we have 93 crits, 7 standard hits and and 5% additional total damage from force.

You want to be running curry butternut squash if you are going for the optima, if you are not 100% certain about the top set up check the following link:

http://www.dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/12497977-dnt-warrior-build-41514

Thanks for the answer, I just wanted some numbers and didn’t really know how to make calculations, because in some other mmo it worked in another way.

Anyways, even though I am sitting on 98% crit chance, it often happens that in 7 hits, 3 are normal hits. Yeah, rng, true, but it happens too often. That 2% chance of NOT critting feels more like 30%. At the end of the day, I saw bigger HBs by sitting on 100% crit chance and -5% dmg instead of sitting on 97-98% crit chance ad +5% dmg.

Question about sigils and runes in pve

in Warrior

Metallus.7690

I understood about the might stacking but what about the critical chance? If I replace sigil of accuracy (7% crit chance) with sigil of force (5% dmg), I no longer have 100% critical chance.

Taking into account that I have 210% crit dmg, from my point of view it would be more favourable that I get that extra critical hit (2.1 dmg) instead of missing on that damage and get half hit. Is there any way I can calculate till which point it’s convenient to stack crit and from where it’s more convenient to go for pure damage? Once again, take into account that I have full ascended and run with 80power, 60 prec food all the time (The other food is mostly a slaying potion).
