I play PU condi mesmer is pvp/wvw.
and it is extemely op and more strong stealth than thief.
difrerent between thief and mesmer stealth = mesmer can instant stealth and stealth duration also stacks whicb means i can stay stealth whenever i want faster and stay almost forever. But as a thief we need to either land that cnd or hs bp combo to get in stealth. (ofc we can instant stealth too but which means we have to sacrifice our long cd UTILITY SKILL which is used for escape/life saver utility.) And basically do not forget mesmer gets clones+stealth with lot of boons and lot more hp+defensive skills and btw stealth is basically thief’s mechanic not mesmer’s. Mesmer’s more like clone phantasm type of mechanic. Giving mesmer better stealth than thief is just not right.

… you do realize MI is a long cooldown utility skill … right? O_o

Stealth on torch + decoy is more than enough

Ele is in OP spot now.
my ele now can dominate pvp/wvw. Easily 1v2 and sometimes 1v3 as well.
and btw great thing about arcane trait is that boons upon attunement change + fast and easier might stacking with evasive arcana. But from what i experienced arcane trait is not must trait like water in wvw/pvp.

So, before you quoted me in that thread I already said that I wasn’t a one shot thief (who did around 9-10k BS before the patch) but you are now claiming that I spoke to you first and later claimed something differently? Or what is it?
I have no idea how you got that number and you don’t show how you got them, so yeah you have a screenshot with high numbers – good job, but that doesn’t say a thing.
I actually think it’s kind of funny to be called a “noob” by someone who doesn’t know valk and zerker stats

(And Maugetarr, a BS against a light golem in pvp is something differently than a BS against a guard/warr in wvw and that was what we were talking about)

You obv havent played thief for long.
thief can hit over 15k on heavy armors if u go full signet burst glass cannon
there is a youtube video that thief 1 shot warrior which show up as 13k backstab and that number is not even with full might stacks , bloodlust stacks or wvw fortitudes. Just
because u cant reach those numbers doesnt mean others cant.

That’s because D/P has easier access to stealth whenever u want , lot of access to blinds , good gap closer. and its easier to play than d/d

I was testing out many builds in wvw as dual dagger thief.

as in result Trickery/Shadow Art were the best/must for sustain style type of d/d players.

Last choice would be Deadly Arts or Critical Strike. (Your choice)

Deadly arts provide nice mug damage + heal + immobilize + stronger aa’s and good damage overall.

Critical Strike is more focused on backstab damage burst with infiltrator signet might’s and reduce cd + 100% crit for stealth-backstab.

I personally like deadly arts more but its your choice.

for runes i use traveler mostly for perma 25% movement speed + free extra utility slot.

but u can always choose pack/ogre/strength/hoelbrak.

and its so bloody powerful i can even 1vsX in wvw or pvp absolutely facerolling.

esp blinding ashes on fire trait is ridiculously powerful.

also the earth trait is crazy too.

imo D/D is much more powerful now. This seems to be a skill issue on your behalf, rather then the actual patch.

I never said we are not weak in damage.

I am talking about the sustain we used to have as d/d before.

Now we are only able to go full burst which is kill them first or we are dead.

And that is not fun at all.

Ran D/D in hotjoins this weekend. Glass cannon signet build (but using Marauder amu).

If I got the jump, I destroyed people who weren’t quite as adept with their class. Against people who have played longer, they just hit Endure Pain or Stone Amulet or went into Shadow Form if my positioning was off. After that it’s either escape or die.

It works particularly well against zerkers, but only if you, again, initiate combat. Medi-guards or dagger/scepter eles (or even d/d) just lol if they catch you off guard.

I’d honestly like more sustain, some decent condi cleanse, and a way to deal with the faceroll grenade aoe spam besides the shadowstep retreat, but in the end I am what Anet wants me to be.

I liked the old d/d sustain not like kill or dead meta.

I play d/d thief in wvw.

Now as d/d we are forced to play super burst full zerker build.

now thanks to many unnecessary nerfs, d/d thieves are really hard to play…

i wouldnt complain about practiced tolerence changed to ferocity from vital and -200 armor from the trait bonus remove but that SA trait nerf was really harsh for d/d thieves.

Landing CnD is our only offensive and defensive move as d/d thieves now our cloaked in shadow moved to gm trait no more shadow rejuv + cloaked in shadow together.. and now we cant even remove immobilize blind or cripple.. seriously make me wana quit thief ;(

I wouldnt cry about anything BUT that shadow embrace nerf is way too huge for us when we are even more squishy now after the patch. and People says we can invest into both SA and Acro but thats just not a good idea sacrificing lot of burst/dps potential and that SA + Acro lines are not even sub par like before not worth taking it.

People says we have crazy burst but now every other class does same or more bursts along with better survivability. I used to run dual daggers in wvw now its harder for us to survive out there thanks to many nerfs cloaked in shadow as well. I just dont understand anet keep nerfing thieves because so many noob players qq about thieves op when they actually need to l2p issue.

i am talking about the mobility here didnt even mention about any kind of damage or other stuff.

and someone talked about mesmer/thief has better escape ability but thats different. thief burns up initiative and skills like shadowstep = 60 sec cool down and mesmer as well has long cd. but warriors? extremely short cd less than 30 sec and doesnt even burn up initiative like thief or long cd like mesmer. and that 25% sprint trait line make them viable to run fast without sacrifice any skill utility slot or doesnt force u to use 25% ms runes. its extremely unfair to warrior have all the mobility offence and defence stats as well. well ok i wouldnt give a kitten about anything about warrior but the mobility on warrior is insane. u guys are saying that mobility is needed to catch those thieves and mesmers but thats wrong. warrior shouldnt meant to out mobility these classess.

Its unfair to have warrior with super short cd whirling blade/rush on gs for super mobility. and also warrior’s sprint trait needs to be removed. this trait makes warrior gets variety of rune choice while other classess need to use traveler runes or sacrifice utility slot for 25% ms. well ele and necro has trait for 25% ms but they need to equip certain weaps while warriors can just wield melee weapon which most of warriors use. let me show u example.

Warrior = high base hp/ok armor / short cd rush/whirldwind (dont need to burn any resources like thieves initiative) due to warrior’s sprint u can choose strength or hoelbrak runes for maximum dps or defensive+power stats = dont need to sacrifice any utility slots like thief or any other classess = can maximise both defensive/offensive stats.

and warrior is heavy armor and got all those above while heavy armor class guardian doesnt. its the fact.

in order to get that amount of damage on thief u have to basically sacrifice most of defensive stats to get that number and it forces u to use assassin’s signet which basically tells that if u cannot kill the opponent in 1 combo chain u will get screwed and so obvious that build is squishy as hell.

Shadows Rejuvenation is immensely strong.
Granted, it is a grandmaster trait, but what bothers me the most about it, is not per se the numbers, but the design. Perhaps with the exception of the 1 condi/3 sec cleanse in stealth, this is borderline the only trait that actively encourages sitting in stealth for ages. And it rewards doing that, highly so.

While the current, and similar HoT numbers, of approx. 300-330 hp/s in stealth, is ridiculously high (on par with what most healing skills can provide in consistent usage), I feel that it is of a design that does not belong to thief. If we look at every weaponset, and the general direction of traits and traitlines of thief, they all encourage active/reactive play.
Enemy attacks you? Dodge that kitten! Or blind it!
Not soak it up, stealth up, and go hide in a corner until you’re at full health again.

Not to mention, Shadows Rejuvenation outperforms the other choices by a very large margin, both in the past, present, and in the HoT outline. The sheer performance of the trait arguably leads to it carrying bad/lesser skilled/experienced players in fights that they’d otherwise lose, purely due to the atrocious game of attrition it allows.
A potent tactic, both for X/D builds, but perhaps moreso for D/P, is that if you’re losing, simply keep a distance, and keep stealthing. The sheer level of sustain it brings, and gameplay it promotes, is just so… not thief-y.

I dont consider myself a thief hater, nor a shadow arts hater (in general), but that single, build-defining trait, I just wish it would get removed, and replaced with something else that fit the theme of stealth, as well as active gameplay.
If I were to come up with a replacement, I’d like to see a trait meant for offensive use.
How about something that gave X amount of initiative when gaining Revealed (IE, breaking stealth through damage)?

Finally, shadow arts could be a traitline dedicated to repositioning, use of stealth for offensive purposes, and light sustain (through the Shadow Protector and Shadows Embrace traits).

Taking away Cloaked in Shadow and Shadow’s Rejuv is just way too cruel for D/D thieves.

I’d pick CiS over RoS as D/D anyday..

CiS is only blind we can access for us d/d thieves… and that is really really helpful.

I dont really care about other weapon sets and traits but moving that CiS to GM trait is just killing D/D

and CiS , SoR those 2 are like core for those SA D/D and its the only survival we have taking those 2 away means just quit D/D

Now that Cloacked in Shadow moved to GM trait… We D/D thieves cant use both shadow rejuv and cloaked in shadow.. which is pretty much hard nerf to d/d set since CnD = followed by cloaked in shadow (Blind) was our offensive and defensive move along with shadow’s rejuv now they have taken that blind and its pretty ridiculous.. Anet has been nerfing thieves so hard Q.Q..

Now even necro hits even harder than thieves and its AOE and has much better survival.. now its kinda pointless to roll thieves when we sacrifice so much defensive and yet we does less damage than other professions..

This is the one class that just can't roam.

I’m so fed up with this. We literally have NO mobility, all we have is a puny, pathetic and straight up laughable little dash.

No viable swiftness skills.

The teleport on the sword is also the most worthless thing ever, considering that after you teleport to them they’ll just run away from you and spam /laugh.

The GS 2 which is almost ALL of our damage is also a laughable skill, since you can’t stick on them, so they just port away, when its done they come back and kill you.

And even if you can bring the enemy down to 10% hp, guess what? You still won’t be able to kill him. He’ll either run away from you, dash away from you or just straight up teleport away from you, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

This class is just worthless when it comes to anything but PvE or zerging.

I mean come the kitten on, just look at warriors, they have the LONGEST dash ever, and then guess what? Another dash using the same weapon! Oh and their dashes deal insane damage too, must be nice. Then they swap to hammer or whatever and gets a ccs for days.

So i guess i’m just tired of being kited while not being able to do a single thing about it, i’m tired of people being able to run away all the time.
Like, at least don’t make our damaging skills require the enemy to literally be right next to us for us to do damage, while giving us no skills that would allow us to do so.

I’m just done with this kitten, it’s frustrating and just pure bs. A melee class with no cc, like, did you even logic while making this class?

And just don’t even suggest me running staff or shouts on a medi guardian.

I’m too fed up with this, rolling a guard, rant over.

Also traveler runes with Judge’s Intervention solves most of problem.

GS with Hammer or scepter provides enough cc to burst them down within a second.

and btw warriors are ezpz cake to kill 1v1 as medi/dps guardian

I use 00266 d/d build. and Pack runes are perfect. provide almost perma swift which is essential for wvw and also that 125 precision helps alot. I’d say pack runes are perfect rune for d/d ele and also its way cheaper than hoelbrak or strength

No class should be able to attack, stealth when you attack them back, heal and clease while stealthed, then come out of steath and reattack you, rinse, repeat until you are dead.

I have no problem with thieves having escapability, none at all. My problem is in and out of stealth fighting bullspit. Enough, peroid. I don’t know of any other game that allows such crap. They should hit like a truck, they should be able to sneak around, they should be able to poof and escape AFTER their kill or to get out of a tough fight….but they should not be able to repeatedly re-stealth in the middle of a fight to heal and cleanse over and over, it is absolutely absurd.

Just wanted to drop by and say that this April’s fools joke is really, really freaking annoying. Some people like it. It was funny when I logged in til I realized that the pvp and wvw maps and dungeons were also like it. And its been hours upon hours now…I’ve actually not been playing much since it started, I keep trying but it’s actually infuriating to listen and watch. Trailers and stuff are funny or even a fake specialization or something but 24 hours of hazy yellow filter with my character screaming airplane noises and my arms out in every animation is just plain FREAKING annoying. It’d be different if I could get you guys back for it but I can’t. I have half a mind to drive down there and actually play a prank or two (lol). Anyway…I wish I could drop a few f-bombs in caps in there to get the point across because that’s how much its annoying me but the post will just get blocked so /shrug.

Everyone feel free to disagree with how I feel, I really don’t care.

P.s. Someone should head over there to anet and do some kind of practical joke to get back at them. Like park an airplane infront of all the exits so they can’t open the doors to leave. And leave them there for 24 hours lol

You can only adjust the sound and turning off post processing for graphic..

idk whos idea it was but its really stupid. Some people may like it but some just doesnt.. this is just like anet forcing users…

at least make a button or command that u can turn off/on…

Hi Guys
Recently I’ve been trialling Medi guard in pvp but have been unable to decide between these two weapons paired with Sceptre/Focus.
I have been using 0/1/6/1/6 trait spread and find greatsword is invaluable in team fights but hammer is better for smaller skirmishes.
I know that hammer is used more in esl matches but the was interested what other guardian players experiences were.
