S/d condi thief is actually quite viable.

I climbed up to top 133 in pvp last season with s/d condi though i stopped playing pvp right after i finished my backpack. I would have climbed up more if i was keep playing

and that was my first time playing s/d which clearly shows it is easy to play low risk high reward compare to power s/d.

btw whoever said s/d condi #2 only applies 6 stacks of poisons in total and 800 ticks thats totally bs dont forget u can add torment (trickery) + additional poisons torment bleeds from DA trait + via spam dodge caltrops/Lotus + switch weapon to proc geomancy doom sigils too thats easy 12+ stacks of both poison and bleed on top of torment + confusions with perplex runes.

And u can basically juke from 900 range and escape out from 1200 range mobility.

Of course its not an immortal build but it surely is an easy op build to play even with low skills/experience

I hate the way u grind for mastery points by doing same story over and over or doing boring achievements.

Only thing i enjoyed doing was mini game stuff but other than that its boring as hell.

Especially when u are a hardcore wvw/pvp player. Wish there was a way to earn mastery points by doing wvw/pvp…

I dont main warrior but i do agree that shield bash and headbutt nerf was a bit too much.
tbh i didnt have any problems with headbutt or shield bash,
problem was that arc divider makes it too easy to get 3 stacks of adrenal health..

this patch clearly shows that anet balance team got no idea wtf they are doing…

EU better at PvP than NA?

However look at real PvP games like DoTA, LoL, Smite, CS:GO, and such. EU players normally stand no chance against their NA and Asian overlords. Hence why NA and Asians players hate EU and Russian players so much in these games when they are on their teams.

Dude, in what universe do you live in?

CS:GO: The NA players are an actual joke. The only Team actually competing with the far superior EU Teams is SK Gaming, which aren’t even NA, they only play in that league, they are Brazillians.

SC2: NA has an even worse reputation, NA players who win their qualifiers for tournaments usually lose to players who lost their 1st or 2nd round in the qualifiers, so there is that.
Not to mention that you can litterally become NA Grandmaster if you are ~diamond in EU. There is a huge gap in skill between EU and NA and it is looking real bad for NA.

so yeah…NA is basically always 3rd when you compare NA to EU and the Asians

I dont know about NA in CS:GO or w/e

but for an Asian country, games like mmorpg , dota2 , CS:GO are hardly played and never were popular games.

if it becomes popular and more people get used to play Asians will probably dominate them too just like League of Legends , Starcraft 1 and 2 , Overwatch are the good exmaple.

There are so many great players in every games in all EU NA or ASIAN countries.

I have a friend in Germany that tells me NA is a clownfiesta. I’m not sure what that means, but I’m guessing he’s just trash talking. When I told him the best player in the game is Naru since he’s going to be the God of PvP, he laughed and said in EU, he would be mid tier.

Why is European players better than America in PvP? GW2 is an American game. Is it because all the good NA players moved to different games that EU is dominant now?

I have alt accounts in EU and its about same level.

But i found EU pvp more enjoyable due to less toxicity and better team communication than NA (ofc there are toxic players in EU but felt like more less than NA)

As the title says. My only experience with Ele comes from open world PvE, and I’d like to ask more experienced players how viable would full celestial ele be for WvW roaming – solo and small scale, as a DPS-healing/support character.

i would rather build a full support ele for group roaming or marauder zerker mix for s/f

its kinda boring to play celestial in wvw these days. I mean it works but not effective as much as before..

Wvw and Pvp is different. Being good in pvp doesnt mean they are the best. Because pvp is all about team work and rotation It’s a different story when it comes to 1v1 duel or a roam in wvw because it requires more individual skills to pull and kite around and fight with multiple people I’ve seen so many “best pvp players” gets destroyed in wvw when it comes to an individual fight. I do agree that Min and Havoc is a great player though there used to be lot more good 1’s but they all stopped playing due to anet’s bad balance patching and stuff

Mesmer called, but I couldn’t really hear him clearly beccause he was laughing so hard he accidentally teleported 4 times in a row.

If you’re running mimic and you use CS just to blink 3 times in a row you are playing mesmer wrong in PvP

Well, you’re obviously ignoring my point. But the possibility to chain teleports is there. And it’s stun breaker. And it’s on 30(24)s cooldown which is much less than 50(40)s that thief has. I’d take mesmer’s cooldown before condi clear on second port any time.

To add:
If we were to compare skill for skill like I just did for mesmer then you would see there is a lot of imbalance like this. Two skills or traits that have same mechanic can differ a lot between classes. Some get more some get less, depending on how their class is played and what mechanics it has.
Calling Shadowstep op is really not knowing basics of the game and being salty. Thiefs don’t really have going much for them and few goods skills keep thief alive in what would otherwise be being one-shot scenario. But I guess it’s easy for Necro to talk stupid stuff like op did, he isn’t the one that will get killed by one or two strong attacks. He has effectively 40k HP (minimum) and he doesn’t care most of the time.

lol dude, a vault hits me for 12k. PI hits me for 4k. backstab for around 10k. So instantly I lose half my health with no visual tell at all. How is that fun?

Meh happened to me months ago, no one cared and it won’t change. Was down before I could react, basically only an auto skill would have saved me. Wasn’t even full zerk either.
Good luck with the balance crusade, I don’t see anet giving two figs about it.

Thief was within 1200 range of you unstealthed blew 4 long CDs to land two Hits, no different then most big hits that happen in WvW, it sucks when it happens but WvW will never be balanced, you will never see those numbers in PvP just because less stats and less damage modifiers. Fun fact you can get hit from a well setup maul for 18k in PvP the Ranger was super glass and died when sneezed on though, that was the biggest hit I have seen in PvP to date.

So far the classes I know that can land over 20k hits in WvW are Revenant CoR doesn’t need any setup just hit CoR and can easily achieve over 15k damage, Warrior with Gun Flame, Warrior with Arc Divider hits for over 15k easily, Ranger with Maul can hit for 20k with setup, and Thief running full Signet with setup on D/D with Berserker gear. I haven’t seen other classes achieve anything higher than these ones.

Huge difference is that Rev and Warrior have huge tells, AKA Telegraph on Rev and “Cast” animation on Gun Flame. The range only means kitten on blob fights, thieves just deal the damage from literally nowhere (stealth spam cancer).

Edit: And for Rev at least to deal above 15k+ crit against a glass build you pretty much need to have the stars aligned.

I play Rev in WvW it deals 15k easily when running Marauders gear with Cav trinkets with furious Sharpening Stone running Invo/Retribution/Herald. No stars align…

And you don’t know how Thieves achieve The 15k plus Hits here’s a hint no stealth spam, no Evade spam it is literally a Pure Berserker DA/CS/Tri Signet Dagger Dagger build, it uses all 4 signets to get 20 stacks of might, so using every single heal and utility which leaves nothing for if they fail or are spotted before they land the burst, since it’s not a one shot build and the only Stealth they get is CnD which means they don’t engage from stealth. It’s not an instant you’re dead they have to get close enought to CnD which means if a player cant react to two hits before the Backstab, it’s not the build that’s the issue, the thief would be seen from 1200+ range away.

Sorry every one of those classes is always visible to achieve their burst.

The game is unbalanced but there is a balance, you want to do huge numbers, you have to sacrifice survivability. Except for warrior because passives for days.

Yea you’re straight up lying about Rev damage in WvW.

I’m Zerk except 2 Cavalier trinks and Marauder weapons. 240% crit damage easily over 3100 power with full might. You don’t get 15k hits unless you hit Cruel Reprecussions with full stacks, full might, have every boon in the game on you (Elder’s Force) target less than 50% (Swift Termination on Devastation, which you don’t even take apparently…) and probably some vulnerability on target. Which is the stars aligning.

“Sacrifice survivability” uhhhh the signet build can just run d/p as the offhand set and stealth on approach/running away. Other full zerk glass cannon builds on other classes (except maybe mesmer) just lay down and die.

Thieves send more QQ tells after losing more than any class I fight. For a while I thought it was because I simply run into more thieves roaming, but I started keeping track of the number of tells by class a few months ago. Thieves are nearly 10 times more likely to send a QQ tell than any other class.

Why do you think thieves top that list? Not complaining just curious.

Interesting side note, most of the QQ tells from thieves come from stealth stacking D/P gank builds. I have rarely gotten a tell from PP, SP, PD, etc.

and I bet u main Druid.

Because main druids are the most whinners expecting more buffs when class is already facerolling ez & op

So you killed cheese with cheese? Not impressive if you have to use condi to do it. Celebrate when you can do it on a power build, that requires 3 stats instead of 1 to do it and has to sacrifice all its defense to do so. Condi is overpowered in wvw regardless of what class its on, so 1 condi spammer killing another is nothing new.

Condi guardian isn’t cheese. Its easy to counter with any proper builds. If you aren’t paying attention to how much burn those 3 stacks are doing to you its ur own fault. You can still reck them quite fast with burst even if they run dire or trailblazer due to the lower hp pools.

The chrono prolly goofed and got itself killed in all likelihood. But lets assume they had a proper fight and give the OP some credit…..

Tl;DR:
Gj killing an OP class with a significantly less powerful one!

EVERYONE SO NEGATIVE. LETS BE MORE POSITIVE.

berserker is the op class that can regen 7.4k hp with 0 healing power while dishing out kitten tons of damage and esp rifle easy mode

Having a thief be able to virtually one shot someone with no counter, is beyond cheesy. And no, the counter isnt letting other people beat on him having he one shot his target.

So let me get this straight: it’s okay for a Rev to do the same/higher burst as a Thief from 1200 range, but when a Thief does it from melee with 8k+ less HP (and lower toughness to boot), it’s “uncounterable” and “beyond cheesy”?

People’s ridiculous double standards with Thief in a nutshell. Just admit you hate the profession thematically and move on already.

with boon duration foods u can easily reach full might stack in combat and CoR is also an AOE with 1200 range with super short cd while thief can only do this with full signet (30~ sec burn) on a single target with way lower hp and toughness

First off: I am not expecting much sympathy for this issue, but I will voice my opinion anyway.

So this patch introduced exclusive titles for the top 250 pvp players of the season. Normally this would be fine, but they also give 6 AP each. I would propose removing the AP from these titles.

Rank 1: God of PvP.
Rank 2: Legendary Demigod.
Rank 3: Immortal Legend.
Rank 4 – 10: Unyielding Legend.
Rank 11 – 25: Relentless Legend.
Rank 26 – 100: Ruthless Legend.
Rank 101 – 250: Merciless Legend.

total: 42 AP

Reasons:
1) Only a limited amount of players can get them, most of them will go to people who do not even care about the AP part.
2) Even if someone tries hard the whole season, they are excluded from any titles because of the harsh MMR decay of 100 per day. If you for some reason cannot play in the last week of the season all your efforts are for nothing.
3) EU will have a harder time to earn these since NA has a lower playerbase and lower skilled players compared to EU.

seriously i dont even understand people that thinks PVP require skills to play. All u need to do is cap and decap and maybe some teamwork. I’ve seen plenty of actual pvp tourney team gets rekt by some youtubers or random player when it comes down to 1v1

1 shot thief also can be countered and seems like u havent seen a full zerker hammer rev that can 1 shot even a warrior before trait endure pain pops up and do u even know what glassy means? thief has like 11k hp with 1 shot build and warrior revs have at least 19k~20k hp with at least 2.4k+ armor which is “GLASSY” right

15 sec of celestial avatar doesnt even feel like its nerf gives me super speed + stealth so often i can kite and heal for days.

25 solo might stacks , massive regen and heal , good mobility , great kiting , great pet damage , easy access to stability , good amount of soft cc’s stealth and yet u expect more buffs on druid lol not even funny

If u ever die to a thief as a dh then it means u are playing badly and its ur problem.

oh my god another theef wanabe that is happy with the invi and evade spam while condi spam for 10k \tick in condis while invisible.

condi mesmer and condi thief(stealth and evade variants) are broken as they can hit with no counter, hel the condi chrono bunker can apply confusion just being around, not even attacking.

There is a thread already about this same topic and we already came to the conclusion there must be more means to deal with stealth in all professions in game, thus the change to the warrior shout which is nice but every class needs utilities like that to fight against the invi spam.
We also became to the conclusion that the needle trap and the other one that apply inmobilised need to reveal the thief to avoid the condi spam while invisible (which is clearly broken in any case)

And yes the argument “u noob l2p if u get rekt by a theef while invi” is proven to be a fallacy and completely wrong. Long invisibility is simply broken in this game and needs to be addressed.

The only reason is doesn’t really work in pvp is simply because prevent capture point, otherwise pvp would be a ghost theef fest.

There is no way for ghost thief does 10k condi ticks.

Guild upgrades are very effective at what they do. And their usage is dependent on wealth.
Same with guild siege…..its dependent on wealth. They are wayyyy more effective compared to the others given how supply currently works.

The only guild oriented thing about this stuff is you need a guild with a large enough gold sink (one that has bought the stuff that allows you to create the upgrades). SOME PEOPLE ARE GONNNA MISUNDERSTAND THAT SO LET ME SPELL IT OUT: Guilds have to put up a large amount in order to craft an upgrade of a single type. I’m saying this “gold sink”, the crap leading up to the actual crafting, is the only guild related component. Normal players can afford to pay for crafting the actual guild upgrades, even the crafting is expensive though.

Everything is gold gold gold. Aura’s are gold, everything is golddddddddd.

You can afford better food. You can afford infinite time on those food buffs so they never wear offff. You can afford the best siege that uses less supply so you can place them yourself if you get 40 supply. You can toss upgrades on any claimed objective and reap major benefits to your capping/defending/roaming. I mean do you have any idea how effective watchtowers are? insanely effective. Fast yaks? insanely effective. precense of the keep? insanely effective. Emergency waypoints…….

How do you get this stuff?
By winning? by being good in the gamemode? by farming the gamemode? by winning fights? by ppting insane amounts? by taking core objectives in brilliant maneuvers?

Nope, you get them through money. GOLD.

How do you make money? DEFINITELY NOT THROUGH WVSW!!!
The goal of pve is to make money.
The goal of pvp is to kill people.
The goal of wvsw is to cap objectives.

Being better at pve is dependent upon having more money……THAT MAKES SENSE!
Being better at pvp is dependent upon killing more people….THAT MAKES SENSE!
Being better at wvsw is dependent upon having more money……WHAT?

Simple rule of thumb for those who think they disagree: If you had infinite gold, can you tell me without a doubt that your ability to play the mode would not change no matter what you did with that money (outside of bribing other players)?

More elaborate scenario for those that deny: Imagine if the entire time you aren;’t fighting. But rather just watching the maps. And placing upgrades on objectives as soon as able. If gold is no problem and you made infinite guild upgrades…..and everyone on ur team claimed objectives when they were taken……

What kind of power would you have if you did that? ALOT of power. You can kill enemy supply/movement with sabotage depot’s. You can put watchtowers, waypoints, all the other kitten that exists already, you can put all that up and reap the benefits. Just imagine a bl who’s camps automaticallly got fast yaks as soon as the upgrade slots were unlocked. imagine how insane that would be and how fast their stuff would upgrade with the invulerable yaks and speedy yaks. and imagine how easily they could setup beachheads in enemy borderlands with alll 3 yak abilities. Not to mention the cars…….those cars are seriously powerful! having as many of those as posssible is a huge plus for havok.

Introduction

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a build guide here. Between the trait reworks and the substantially larger pool of people exploring builds, having a build actually unique enough to discuss in a guide is a rather rare thing. This build is for organized group WvW and is what I consider to be the Holy Grail of Mesmer WvW builds. It provides usable and powerful utility that truly feels good and enjoyable to play, which to me is the perfect build.

Mesmer has never had good damage, so we’ve attempted to make up for that by providing strong utility. Unfortunately, that has always taken the form of either one-off skills with long cooldowns and questionable impact (portal and veil) or overpowered gimmicks that require zero skill or coordination to be monstrously powerful (old boonshare). The build I’m presenting here provides powerful defensive and offensive utility in a form that requires both personally skilled play and effective group coordination to be fully effective.

Overview

This build is designed for use in an organized WvW group. If you try and use this in pugs, you’re going to have a bad time. If you try and use this without your group being aware and on board, you’re going to have a bad time.

This build is designed to do 2 primary things: share boons and share distortion. You accomplish this through the use of signets with boon duration gear while being supported by the appropriate team composition.

The Build

Traits
Domination: Rending Shatter, Blurred Inscriptions, Mental Torment

Inspiration: Medic’s Feedback, Restorative Illusions, Illusionary Inspiration

Chronomancer: Delayed Reactions, Improved Alacrity, Seize the Moment

Domination is chosen primarily for the signet trait. Traited signets are the highest frequency way to produce distortion. Rending Shatter is primarily taken because the other two are pretty useless. Mental Torment is taken for the same reason.

Inspiration is chosen for the obvious defensive utility, but also because it enables the distortion share through the minor trait Inspiring Distortion. Medic’s Feedback is a fantastic trait in WvW groups as well.

Lastly, Chronomancer is taken for reasons that I probably shouldn’t need to explain. Delayed reactions is taken because it’s the only trait that has an effect, even if that effect is rare. Same thing for Improved Alacrity, since you do get alacrity from shatters. Take Seize the Moment because it provides on-demand access to quickness that “primes” your boons prior to using Signet of Inspiration.

Weapons: Sword/Shield + Focus

I use double mainhand sword because blurred frenzy is by far the strongest mainhand defensive skill we have. Offhand shield is incredibly strong, and offhand focus is the best offhand other than shield for group play.

Utility Skills
Heal: Signet

Utilities: Blink, Signet of Midnight, Signet of Inspiration

Elite: Gravity Well

The focus on signets here is to proc distortion as often as possible. The heal signet also has the extremely handy effect of refreshing your shield block, so that enables a lot of defensive capability. Blink allows you to get out of sticky situations, and gravity well is simply the best elite for group play unless you specifically need the MI stealth.

But Pyro, my commander says I need to use Veil!

Your commander is stuck in the past and should feel bad. Think about actual situations in WvW. How many times have you actually been caught off guard by another group because of a Veil? It’s obvious when groups use it, it’s obvious where they’re going during it, and literally nobody is surprised by a veiled group unless you’re just afk ramming a gate without paying attention to anything. It’s a garbage skill that was useful years ago due to culling and has stuck around because critical thinking is apparently not a strong point of most drivers.

But Pyro, you don’t have portal either!

That’s true. Portal, unlike Veil, is a legitimately powerful and useful skill. However, its pool of useful situations is exceedingly limited. Due to this, I don’t keep portal on my bar; Mesmer utilities are simply too valuable to have a slot go mostly unused. If we’re approaching a situation that could benefit from portal, the driver will ask for it and I’ll swap Signet of Midnight for portal (and usually gravity well for MI at the same time).

On the other hand you can use the stolen skill to reflect while they have the rifle out.

To be fair though, I’ve reflected a gunflame like that and it does faaaar less damage to the warrior than it would have done to me.

U cannot reflect/block when they pop up the might signet and most of rifle warriors are running might signet.

I’m reworking my warrior after returning to play for the first time in 8-9 months. I tried a condition burnzerker build after HoT came out, didn’t like it, and stopped playing warrior after that.

I’d like to switch to a burst based power build for multiple game types (going to try it out everywhere but raids). Would you suggest Berserker or Marauder stats on my armor? (ascended armor just going to switch stats). Or something else entirely?

I’ll be using Axe/Mace for one weapon set (or axe/shield) and was thinking Hammer for the second but I’ve heard it’s no good now- I wanted it for the stun/push back/knock down. Is hammer still a viable option?

Some of this isn’t really new to roaming but it has definitely gotten worse.

  • hot raised the skill floor so anyone and everyone has the potential to not instant die and still deal easy dmg with aoe/cleave everything lvl of skill.
  • some how with that high skill floor people are still terrible and you will find it most effective to build to kill bad people more so than building a dueling character for roaming.
  • Unless you like getting hunted down and killed like a dog for appearing to be OP/Hacker, stealth &/or mobility are necessary to escape the inevitable mob.

Just 3 aspects to keep in mind if you want to return/get into solo roaming currently.

Other than players that use the ANET design, am I the only player that thinks attacking while stealth’d and staying stealth’d is stupid? GW2 is the only MMO where someone can attack from stealth, go back to stealth or stay in it due to kitten poor programing and exploits… do the dev’s even know this.. do they even play anymore?

Go play Blade and Soul

Stealth is even more op in that game while u can attack in stealth without getting revealed.

I am talking about the permanent solo 25 might stacks with full bunker stat is OP which allows u to hit hard while tank hard with no sacrifice, just like d/d cele ele back in the days but druid can access more kittens than old d/d ele does.

I am talking about the druids that has access to all sort of kittens like mobility healing tankiness damage condi clears kiting range access to boons without any sacrifices and less efforts to play to compete with roamers that spent thousands of hours.

as i said none of other professions can access all above.

If they are good with something they always lack of something thats how it is. But druids arent, and all those bad druid mains telling others to l2p while they are playing easy mode with no efforts

I’m having a tough time taking your complaints seriously considering you claim to have played a “1000 hours on each profession” but claimed “7-8k Druid staff auto”… Put some toughness in your thief build and keep practicing…

Overpowered isn’t defined as any class/build that has no weakness to another build or builds in a cage match. Overpowered in this context means a significant advantage against most other players of similar skill using other builds.

In this case, the current Bunker Druid builds when played by a decent player are extremely difficult to beat. They are dangerous to non-bunker builds, can stalemate most bunker builds and can typically make it to any door on a map simply by running and stealthing even with multiple players trying to kill them. They also have a fairly shallow degree of difficulty to play.

This is very hypocritical class able of stealthing, healing to full with mara/zerk trinkets easily, kiting, CCing and dealing damage even if they aren’t really running dps stats.

I fail to understand why anet nerfed elementalists to the ground while buffing this auto-proc AI based cancer. The only thing as bad as druids I can think of is Condi mesmers but again those guys have WAAAAY more counters than druids.

^ Seems like I wasnt the only one who thought druids are more cancerous to fight than all the condi cheese builds out there.

Tell me which profession can do

- stacks 25 mights by it self and almost permanently (Including easy access to all boons like stability)

- can stealth

- can heal / regen with super short cd

- can kite/range from 1200~1500 range

- can easily clear condis

- great mobility with short cd

- great damage even with bunker/condi spec

- +1 pet does much damage as druid it self

- easy to play with low skill cap/experience

Trust me. None of profession can do all those above in 1 build by it self.

Most of people who play those type of druids act so tough like they are pro and yet they get destroyed when playing other professions
