This is something that GW will never do. If I wanted a P2P game I would play WoW. What attracted me most to GW1 was that it was F2P, and I think that’s the case with many people. It just won’t ever happen.
I don’t see bots that often, to be quite honest, but if I do just hit report and go on my way. I don’t complain about them, I just do my part.
However, I think more people would be less likely to report them if ANet more frequently let us know what was going on. When tons of threads on the same topic spawn, it’s because we have no idea if ANet is actually reading what we’re telling them. Now that is frustrating. Luckily, I did see a Dev update us on the bots… But I don’t recall if that was recent or not.
This should probably go in the bugs section.
Have you tried changing groups?
That’s unfortunate though… Hopefully they can get this fixed for you!
@Kill Kayt: (not letting me quote for some reason) https://www.guildwars2.com/en/events/halloween-2012
The website still says, at least the TP, will be Halloween themed until November 5th. Does anybody know for sure?
… will the boots be level 80 when I get to the top?
By the time you make it to the top you’ll be lvl 80
Seriously, if they gave XP for each attempt, my lvl 16 thief probably would be 80. I won’t say how many hours cause its embarrassing.
That would be amazing!!! Because I too shamefully went one too many times through the puzzle lol.
I am sympathetic towards those who are going to be losing their power during the event. I’m from the area, so I’m fortunate to be going to college elsewhere. I do think most people will get their power back by the time the event ends (November 5th) to complete Act 4.
I really enjoyed the Halloween events this year, and I’m glad I was able to experience them. However, I am ready to move back into the normal game play with Halloween “LFG MK”, pumpkins clouding my mini map, candy corn veins everywhere, etc., all gone. Most people may not agree, but it’s one of those “It was fun, but I’m ready to move on!”.
However, I do think ANet should be considerate of those east coasters who only need the “Tea Party” event to get their title. I could deal with not being able to complete the tower, carve all my pumpkins, or any other little extras the fourth act may have. But as many have said, they only have one that one more achievement for the title, and that would frustrate me as well.
Whatever the fourth act is, maybe the tea party will be an instance that even when all decorations, etc. are removed after November 5th, can still be available for maybe… another five or so days? That way, it doesn’t feel like Halloween anymore so us players can move on, but those who need that last event can still get their title.
I don’t want this event to be extended, but I’m sure you guys will have time to fill in that last “Attend the Party” achievement. The event ends on November 5th right? Most people will have their power back on by then.
But keep in mind that once Act 4 starts you won’t be able to do Act 3 anymore.
I was going to add this. The dungeon will only be available until October 31st, however Acts 1 & 2 will still be available when Act 4 is released.
Sorry, but it basically sounds like you want ArenaNet to make titles more attainable. Titles should be challenging to get. I agree with “add more titles” but not “make titles easier to get”. In fact, I feel like everything in this game should be harder.
Aside from GW1 titles, there’s a handful of titles. Half of the whopping 7 PVE titles require to spend enormous amounts of money and basically the title you get just means that…you spend an enormous amount of money. That’s hardly a personal achievement when anyone can just drop cash on gems or shady gold sellers.
The PVP titles are practically all the same, only denoted by how long you’ve played PVP and half of those titles require you to drop a buttload of money on tournament tickets.
There’s very little flavor or diversity to the titles. Here, take a look for yourself:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Title
Combat Healer, Dungeon Master, Golden (albeit difficult, but not necessary to pay for), Kegmaster, and Master Crafter can all be obtained through leveling. At the very least, Combat Healer, Dungeon Master, and Kegmaster can without paying (except for armor repairs).
However, I would love to see more titles. That’s not to say that 1000 kills should mean a “…. Slayer” title, but maybe 5000, or something like that and you get the title.
There are already a few threads about this. I’m pretty sure it’s a bug for some servers. =/
ANet also does not have the ability to control the weather, and while it isn’t your fault, it also isn’t theirs’. I agree with Mossy, that it is something I understand being frustrated about, but it sounds like you’re trying to play the blame game.
I don’t know how ANet is going to address this issue. Because if they do, then you can be sure that in the future people will remind them that they did this for this group of people, so why can’t they do this for us? Philly is my home, and I’m lucky to be on the other side of the country for college right now so I’m not missing out. So I really do feel for you guys and I hope it works out.
It may help to check out threads like this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/halloween/Are-the-doors-all-gone-Merged/first
You may be able to kick start an event, as described in that thread, to have the doors reappear on your server. However, for some, this is a bug that I believe they are working on.
These are just random ideas I came up with, which probably aren’t very good. I think each race could have its own focused mini-game (although anybody can play them), but you have to visit the capital city in order to do. This will help bring more attention to the capitals, away from LA (which is a suggestion I’ve seen a few times).
Asuran: (kind of like in the intro of Asuran, you can play “chess” with golems) A group of x amount is formed, and their golems are transformed into dredels. They have to maneuver the golems, who may have some attacks, to knock the golems off of the ledge.
Norn: We already have the keg brawl, so maybe expand it a bit more to “Egg Nog” instead of just Kegs. Obviously, the skills can change to resemble something more holiday-like.
Human: I remember playing in GW1 the beetle race… So this time, humans can select their own design of a snowsled (all of which will have the same skills, etc.) and let the races begin! They can throw candy canes and snowballs at each other or get a speed boost by drinking some egg nog.
Charr: A bit more PvP style, but add two temporary holiday legions which are either chosen or randomly assigned when the character enters the arena (already in the city). Transform the arena into a large maze, and which ever team gathers all of the materials to create the candy-cane cannon to destroy the other side first wins. They can fight, brawl, etc. also.
Sylvari: The Pale Tree has been transformed into a jumping puzzle similar to the Clocktower, decorated with ornaments that act as the platforms.
Sell back / Refund option for karma ,cultural vendors or any vendor who sells high value items .

I would even settle for a confirmation step – I thought I was the only one who had made costly mistakes like this in preview and gotten burned, but after something similar happened to me, it seems everyone I know in game has been burned this way.
This would be an amazing addition, and I imagine incredibly easy to implement.
Either way, I really wouldn’t see why adding a “sell back” would be so hard. If they can’t sell back at full prize, then at least allow you to be able to sell items to karma vendors, for karma items, at whatever the current price is. You may not get all of your money back, but at least you’ll get most of it.
Conformation message though is the way to go, for both karma vendors and TP.
I really don’t have issues with repairing my armor, to be quite honest. It’s my fault that my armor was damaged, so okay, I’ll pay a really small repair fee.
I think something like this would be really cool! It will keep the reminder of the Mad King present even after the event is all over.
There are advantages and disadvantages to having a larger character. I actually found the puzzle easier on my smaller human than I did with my Norn. My Norn gave me some pretty crazy camera angles/zooming in and out while my human was just fine. I ended up actually completing on my Norn, because that’s what I wanted to do, but the human was easier.
This puzzle took me over 8 hours to complete (I stopped keeping track).
There were moments where I really just wanted to quit, and so I did. I would take a short break, but during that entire break all I would think about is trying to complete the tower. Was it obsession? Maybe a little bit, but more just that desire to complete it.
The first couple hours of playing went by pretty fast. It was after 3 hours that I became pretty frustrated. I wasn’t just going to give up though. I had already spent so much time doing it. I wasn’t playing for the boots anymore (I couldn’t care less about that). I was playing partly for the achievement, but that was also pretty unimportant because it didn’t count towards the title I wanted. At this point, I was playing for self-satisfaction.
What kept me going? The truly non-deserving elitist in me. I’m only level 44, so I certainly don’t have much to brag about. But I think everybody has a small superiority complex. I didn’t want to rub it anybody’s faces that I completed the puzzle; that’s just not how I roll. But I did want to post in the “completed Tower” thread on the forums, and I did want to be able to say, if anybody asked, “Why yes, I did finish what may be the most difficult jumping puzzle in the game.” It gives me internal bragging rights, and during the time I was doing the puzzle, that was really important. It made me feel important. It also made me feel (I know it sounds super lame) “special” because I was able to finish it. Sure, lots of others did too… but even more people won’t be able to finish it. It put me in the minority.
That’s what kept me going at it.
Hey man, i’m just trying to get my treat bags. If you can’t see, that’s not my problem.
that’s sort of a rude attitude to have too…
But somewhat justifiable after being attacked in just about every group you go to.
When I was in a really small group (only 5 of us, and usually only 3 are running because the other two always made it), I made a joke that a bad thing about small groups is that I can’t blame a bigger Norn or a Charr for my failures anymore. They laughed, but it’s actually true. I realized that in the small group, I was still falling in the same places I usually fall.
For some reason, asking in the map chat of Bloodtide Coast never even crossed my mind. I’ll also try that if LA has no success. And also thanks for the offer!
But I’m on Anvil Rock’s server unfortunately.
After hours upon hours of doing this puzzle, I finally turned off my UI during the actual puzzle, and turn back on during the waiting if there was time (which usually there wasn’t). I can’t even express how much I wish I had done this earlier… After turning my UI off, I beat the puzzle in about 1.5 hours.
Thanks for the offer, you guys!
I’ll check in LA when I get home later.
While it is a little frustrating, it definitely encourages group play if you are a lower level. Just ask around for an escort, or get a guild mate to help you. I’m going to need to, and I’m okay with that.
While I agree that I would love more options for skills, both weapon and utility, I don’t agree that the slot skills are “useless”. In fact, I like many of the available slot skills. I really just wish I could change my weapon skills.
There are plenty of threads on this though, so hopefully the next expansion or some really major update will allow this.
I don’t have that many candy corn, but I’ll be hanging on to mine to see if they’ll be in demand in the future.
Hey all!
So I’m not that low level (43), but I tried to go through Sparkfly Fen by myself, and I failed. I’m pretty terrible at directions, so not knowing exactly which way to go I’m sure did not help my performance. That, and I haven’t really explored Bloodtide Coast at all. I have two WP’s in there from doing the Halloween events.
Nonetheless, I probably need an escort who knows their way around. Where would be the best place to ask, do you think? I would ask my Guild, but lately they’ve been inactive so I haven’t been able to.
Thanks!
I used to be all for solo instances, but now I don’t think they are that necessary. Instead, I just think there should be a cap of maybe around 5-7 on the group size. I managed to find a group of only 5 people, (and usually 2 of them made it each time, so every other time we went there were only 3 of us) and it was incredible! We still had that social aspect, but you weren’t overwhelmed by the number of other players.
However, I would love a normal/hard version.
There are 30 pumpkins, I believe, in Lion’s Arch. If you do all of these pumpkins on your five characters, then there you go. You’ve finished, without a whole lot of difficult effort. Sure, it’ll take some time… But you do what you want.
I prefer just finding them wherever I need to go for quests. I’ve found a ton in the Labyrinth, and it’s just fun if I’m not trying to grind them. I might have to when it comes closer to the end of the event, but by then I probably won’t have that many to carve!
As a female Norn myself, and not as the victim, but a witness of this type of behavior, I can tell you that there’s a really easy solution that most players will accept… Take off your armor. I just go naked now, because it makes things easier. And I’ve seen large male norns who also have all of their armor removed and not a single person complains about them.
Instead people complain about those who have incredibly bulky armor, with their shoulders and helm. Remove all of your armor, and people probably won’t complain. And actually, I found the jumps a lot easier because I could spot myself.
I agree with Jaxichael.
Also, I have heard of plenty of lower level characters who have been able to do all of the events. If you need to group up with some higher level characters, then do so. I’m going to have to, and I don’t have a problem with it.
Level 43 Female Norn Guardian.
No Speed boost.
More hours than I care to admit, lol. But I pretty much screamed when I made it.
I haven’t reached it yet… And I’m a bit embarrassed by how long it’s taking lol (*cough*6 hours*cough*) But I am really enjoying it!
I’ve made it to the last staircase twice now… fell but still! haha.
I sure hope I do, but I have a few more things to do… A few more for Halloween Huntin’ (which I think will be easy to get), and I’ve apparently only done 1 Halloween event so I’m a bit worried about that.
Otherwise, I am working for it haha.
I’ve been looking for them as well. =/
Hey all!
Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s been moved or something… But a few minutes ago, I was in the labyrinth. I left to do something… Went back to Queensdale, and all of the doors are gone.
Are we no longer able to explore that realm?
For the record… I did really enjoy it, which is why I may do it again.
Every time somebody posts ANYTHING negative about the game, people assume that we’re just complaining to complain. In fact, I’m not even really complaining as much as just making ANet aware that this is a bit frustrating. Calm down, people.
My friend just got an exotic piece of armor, so there are good drops in there. Just have to be lucky
Not getting class appropriate rewards is a thing with all dungeons/events in this game, so it’s not really specific to this dungeon.
I understand that. I was just anticipating at least something I could use.
And if you’re lucky enough to get something that you can, then major props! I may try it again with my guild.
Hey all!
So I just completed the dungeon, and it was actually a lot of fun!
But really? For all of that work, the rewards were minuscule. Not only that, but all three weapons I received are unusable by my class.
Could you guys at least have had it so that I was awarded items I can actually use?
That’s awesome!
I just experienced my own glitch. It was amusing! Thanks for sharing!
Nothing special (since UI, and chat, etc. are all open) but the tower glitched on me all of a sudden and I was stuck on a specific block. Took that opportunity to get a crappy picture haha.
Thanks to everyone for their comments, especially the supporters!
However, it doesn’t matter what you think about the term “cyber-bullying” (honestly, it’s just what popped in my head) or that it’s easy to block those conversations. I’ve said it before, I haven’t been a victim of this myself. But why should it even be present in the first place? It may seem like I’m exaggerating, but I’ve seen some incredibly vicious comments. And yes, I’ve reported those members already.
The mere point of this was to just raise some sort of awareness for those that our characters are bothering. We don’t mean to do it, and in that regard, just be respectful and have fun. Because when you start mouthing off, you really ruin the game for some people. Most of the time I like the chats though so I’m okay with keeping them open. Regardless, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Anyway.
Hope everyone’s having fun!
I would gladly change to a human character, because you’re right about the achievement being account-bound. But the gear is soulbound.
So perhaps an easier solution would be to make the gear account bound? Because as of this moment, I do want the gear for my norn.
I was surrounded by three really large male norns, and I could not see my character. But I jumped, and I played, and I made it pretty far…
Couldn’t help but chuckle
Basically just saying that it’s possible to do it even if you’re blocked. =P and I’m really not good at JPs.
Sorry. I didn’t realize that this was going to cause such an uproar on here… O.o
I wasn’t complaining about “complainers”. I was asking that people didn’t just slash out at these people when they can’t help it. Anyway… I apologize either way.
@Nayru: That was an inappropriate response which has no contribution to my topic. Thanks for replying anyway.
Every group I go in for the Tower, I hear people complaining about the presence of both Norn and Charr. I usually just ignore them, but when they start to complain over and over again, it can not only get frustrating, it’s actually a form of cyberbullying.
I play a pretty short female Norn, and I’ve taken my helm/shoulders off and my armor’s not bulky. So luckily I haven’t been the victim of this (as far as I know).
But this is really starting to frustrate me and I’ve seen it get pretty bad… name calling, trying to kick them out, constant verbal bullying. Come on, really?
I understand the frustration, and I think most of norn/charr players do. We didn’t create them just to piss you off. How were we supposed to know that this is how it was going to be?
I was surrounded by three really large male norns, and I could not see my character. But I jumped, and I played, and I made it pretty far… I fell because I wasn’t paying attention.
Be frustrated all you want, but please stop using verbal abuse.

Hey guys!
This extremely minor, but I think it could be a fun reward along with the title of “Emissary of the Mad King” title.
Any ideas, agreement, disagree?
I 100% agree. Please add this!
I use my mouse. I have tried using my keyboard, and I really just haven’t gotten the hang of it. However, I do quite often press the 6 button to get my healing skill going if I’m in the middle of a really heated battle and my mouse is being used for something else.
