Thank you. I did them all for a third time and it appears to have worked… thanks for the help.
I’m glad that you finally got it to work!
Nothing happens, as far as these players have reported. He just stands there to watch his door prank.
I could be misinformed, but I’m fairly sure that ANet is very against farming and they typically nerf things, rather than “de-nerf”.
Very cool, indeed! Thanks for sharing!
There are already several posts of these roaming around and you are not the only one in this situation.

Aaaah I see now, thsose are still going on, yes??
Yep! Just go back into the Labyrinth, and without talking to the Charr guy go into the portal and wander around until you find a haunted door. I was able to complete 9 of them within about 2 hours.
You didn’t collect any minis, you bought them. With this being the case, no, it shouldn’t count towards the overall progress.
Minis can only be purchased (either with gems, or through the TP), so I don’t really see that as being a valid argument against having them be added to the 3 I have. Either way, like I said it was just a suggestion/idea. I’m still happy I have them.
What a great idea!
I might do this for the little ghost.
I understand why they didn’t extend it for Sandy. Oh well, it is what it is.
I think they need to remove the “Act” function of this event and other events and make all holiday content accessible from the beginning of the event to the end. Making some things only available for one day, or a few days, is kinda lame.
I love having certain events of the game available for a limited time. It really adds to the lore, and it makes the whole experience more realistic (considering it’s a fantasy game, this of course has it’s limitations but they took advantage of it).
It also helped me keep track of what was going on and what I needed to do. I found it to be quite organized. Besides, the only event that was limited was entering the dungeon. If you didn’t have time to complete it, then all you need to do is enter and leave and you would have received that part of the achievement. Otherwise, everything has been available since the start of that act. That has given you several days to complete them.
And how would you have the Mad King roam Lion’s Arch while at the same time we’re trying to kill him in the dungeon?
If you’re talking about realism in a game, you’re silly.
But you have a good point. After doing some exploration I realize it makes total sense lorewise that act 4 is only one day (He can only come to our world on the day of Halloween, after all) but my suggestion was not in regards to lore or how much sense it would make where the Mad King is at any given time. It was just an idea or suggestion for next year. I can’t imagine how hard it is to make something functional as a game and as a part of a fantasy lore/history bit.
Lorewise! That’s the word I was looking for instead of realism, which is definitely a silly word to use for a game haha. But I also write fantasy fiction, so I tend to be a little biased in that way. :P
I would still like this time limit to be implemented for the next event. However, I do think a schedule should be given to us on the exact dates of the event. We received starting dates, but the end date for the dungeon was never “officially” released except within 24 hours of the actual end time. I think it’s something they should consider.
Hey all! I hope you are having a great Halloween holiday.
Yesterday, I had purchased my very first gems and I had used them on three sets of minis (one normal, and two halloween to get the chainsaw skeleton as well). So, I have a total of 7 minis (4 special, and 3 regular).
I checked my achievement, and it had only listed the 3 regular to go towards my title. I’m not asking for an extension on the total title amount. In other words, I don’t think that players should be required to have the special event (including HoM) minis. Instead, I think that they should be counted towards the overall 54 required. So instead of having 3/54 minis, I should have 7/54.
I’m new to collecting minis, so I am not familiar with it too well. I also know that this is low on the priority bar, but I would like to be rewarded for collecting these 4 Halloween minis, and maybe others would as well. This would of course also include any future special event minis (because I’m sure there will be some for Wintersday as well).
Thank you!
Hello,
First you should try logging in and out. Second, this is a bug that many people are experiencing. You may want to post in that thread.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think there are any more book hunts.
I really hope that it has something to do with Guild Halls, which is something I know that they have been working on and is one of the most requested things on the suggestions forums. Please be a Guild Halls island!
Opposite on two parts…
Male Asuran Guardian?
I was there for the cutscene, so I got the dungeon done pretty quickly. And when I had entered LA again, people were already talking about when the dungeon was going to close… and people had known that it would close by the start of Act 4. How? I’m not sure, but they were talking about it a lot. All it took was to look at the map chat and someone would have mentioned it long before the warning thread was posted. At least, this was my experience.
I don’t think so, although I can understand where you come from. I’m an English major, so I guess I look at it differently because I base it off of perspective. The “narrators” (the ghosts) are all biased. We never get the Mad King’s perspective on what happened, but instead just the victims’. If you look at it that way, sure it is dark (which I like), but who knows what the Mad King’s actual perspective is!
I don’t have an answer for you, but I’m keeping them for future use. At the very least, I don’t want to attach the memories when my character is at a lower level. As for the scanner, I have space in my bank so for right now, it’s just a souvenir.
There are at least two other threads on the first page that either started talking about this, or led to it.
I would keep an eye out on those to see how they progress.
Why didn’t you go into the dungeon, though if I may ask?
I used to play Nintendo and Super Mario… and for some reason, I’m just not that good at jumping on a PC haha.
This is pretty much how my game went, actually. Closer to the end of finally getting it, I started singing both in map chat and at home, to the tune of Mama Mia… “Halloween Event… Here we go again… My my… How do I defeat you?” Over and over and over again. I was definitely going insane lol.
I think the OP is saying that he didn’t go to the dungeon at all while it was available, and unfortunately entering (not completing) the dungeon is required for the Mad King Event achievement, and therefore for the title.
Got hat 2nd run, seems you need to finish event with a gold ranking
I just wanted to clarify that this isn’t true. I completed it with a silver and I got the hat the first time I checked.
There are a ton of threads on this, most of which have been dismissed since yesterday.
A Dev had commented that an extension will not be available due to a November 15th update which is expected to be quite large.
Yeah, as alternative they could count I guess. Just not as mandatory item.
Completely agree about not making it a mandatory item.
Either way, I rather like having them around so I don’t mind having spent the money to get them.
No. The dungeon became unavailable at the start of the fourth Act. The fourth Act has the Mad King entering Lion’s Arch, so it would be odd if it was still available and you kill him but he’s just outside playing with the citizens, haha.
No. They are seasonal minis and thus should not count towards the achievement as not everyone has an opportunity to get them if they miss out on the event.
I understand that, and I wasn’t really suggesting that they be added to the 54 (so that the total would be 57 instead). But maybe the special event minis can count towards the total of 54. That was more along the lines of what I was suggesting. But like I said, I really only just started getting them so I’m still pretty unfamiliar about the whole thing.
I would primarily want an app to be able to chat with my guild/friends while I’m off the game.
Hey guys!
So I gave in and I got the 3 Halloween minis. I then proceeded to get another set, and I got the Skeleton Chainsaw mini. I had some extra gems, so I got the regular 3 mini pack as well.
I checked my community achievements, and I noticed that it only has recorded that I have 3 minis. I checked the bank, and sure enough the special event minis are separate from the regular ones.
I think that the Halloween minis should count towards the title. They are, after all, minis.
Edit: I should add that I literally only just yesterday got my first gems, and the miniatures were the first things I bought. I only have the 7 so far, so I am by no means an expert on that title or collecting them.

Definitely the little ghost. Everytime I saw him running around, I just wanted to take him home. If GW2 makes a plus Quaggan ghost doll, I would definitely get it!
I forgot to add… I don’t know which kid it was, but I had purchased the Mad King’s costume and I had it on. This kid ran up to me and was like, “That’s not a real costume!” I gave him a ton of a candy.

Thank you ANet for the Halloween event this year! My preferred holiday is also Wintersday, so I really look forward to what you guys are going to be doing for that.
For this event, however, I had a lot of fun. I never participated in events in GW1, but I decided to give it a try this year and I’m glad I did.
The Mad Memories book was a great way to ease me into the spirit of the Mad King, however I have to admit that I was extremely confused on where to begin. I did do a few google searches to find out all that was available, as well what each title means. I think more explanations or guidance would have beneficial.
I love the Clocktower Puzzle. It took me a long time to do, but that’s mostly my fault. I think that a title would have been great to have with it after completing it x number of times. It would have made the puzzle more worth while and rewarding.
The Labyrinth was a lot of fun, but it did get repetitive after a while. I loved being able to level up quickly while focusing on Halloween instead of my missions, and finding a family sized candy corn was just plain fun!
Overall, I really enjoyed it and it definitely got me in the spirit for Halloween. Great job!
Just to clarify something below. The hat from the event is different then the hat included with the witched outfit.
Oh is it? That’s actually good to know. Thanks for the clarification!
And yeah, Tommy, go participate in the event and check for the chest which will be near the north end of the fountain. Hopefully you get the hat!
This is a bug that they are probably aware of already. You aren’t the only one with this issue.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Emissary-of-the-Mad-King/page/2#post585814
Nope!
I completed 9/10 of my Halloween events by going to the Labyrinth and destroying the creatures that come out of the doors.
Press “H” and click on the Town Clothes option. Also check that it hasn’t been placed in your inventory. The hat will not appear when you are wearing armor.
@Tommytoons: (not letting me quote for some reason) No, you aren’t being trolled. The hat was available in a chest at the end of the party (after you received the medal). I was just saying that the whole set is available in the gem store. If you aren’t sure where the chest is, complete the Mad King Says and go to the north side of the fountain.
+1! I would really love this.
Plus, it would help encourage people to buy more town clothing. At least, it would for me. Right now, I’m only sticking with one outfit because it takes up five bank/inventory slots. Please add this!
I was there for the first time the event started, and not everybody got a hat. I even heard someone saying they got a rock. It’s really just chance.
If you had the title, then no you did not miss the party. The party was the “Mad King Says”.
The hat everyone is talking about is the Witch’ kitten It’s a clothing item, for town clothes. It’s just an accessory. You can purchase the whole outfit in the gem store.
Now people are saying there was a chest? I completely missed it. :< Too many people and commanders clogging up my screen and map!
Yeah I almost missed it too. =/ I got a witch’ kittenfrom it. It’s on the north side of the fountain.
Thank you! Logging back in worked.
I didn’t get the achievement either.
I did complete the quest with a silver as well. He disappeared for me and was completely lost in the chat. I missed one emote command.
It’s definitely a bug. I actually completed all four of the achievements counted towards the title after Act 3, so I don’t think it’s necessarily tied to the act. However, it is a bug because mine says 4/5.
I’ve listened to “Waka Waka” by Shakira. It has this really upbeat tune, but at the same time it’s all about “getting up and trying again” so it was really appropriate. And extremely funny when players seemed to fall off in sync with the song.
A part of me wants to agree with you about having a better reward, but like the other users have stated, it would cause even more complaints here at the forums.
I know that I completed it a few times on my Norn, and that gives myself bragging rights, and I’ll display those proudly if anybody asks. And when I receive the reward for completing all of the achievements for the Special Event, then hopefully I’ll have some cosmetic reward for it.
I loved the Halloween events! I have a few friends who were complaining about it, comparing it to GW1’s events, but I’m quite pleased.
I loved the tower once I was able to complete it, however it definitely did waste a lot of my time and prevented me from doing the other events. Yes, that was my own choice. I just wish I was better at it. Hopefully if they add another puzzle like this, I’ll get it completed faster.
The Labyrinth was a lot of fun and it was great for leveling. I completed 9 of my 10 halloween events there, and I went up 4 levels. It only took a total of about 2 hours, so that was great.
The Memoirs of the Mad King was fun and it was the first thing I did for the event. It really eased me into Halloween. I spent six years on GW1 and I never once participated in the holiday events, so I was pretty hesitant to do it this time. I think the book was a really easy way to set it up for me.
Kudos, ANet!
I had a situation where I got a little hot headed. This woman kept saying stuff because I was a charr. After an hour and a half I finally just dyed my charr pink. I was an oreo colored charr. Got naked so I could see better. Someone else got naked and had same exact skin set up so I dyed my charr pink. They began to freak out. I was level 16 I think.
She actually went on to insult my coat. I was level 12, lol.
I was in a group with some people, and there was me (a small female Norn), and then another large female Norn. She had on hood, and people were complaining about it for a while. She then proceeded to dye it a really bright obnoxious yellow. It made me laugh.
@dyna:
This might be true, but everyone does it, no matter what side. After stumbling on this thread, what I find interesting is that people are concerned about getting an in-game achievement (that they can probably get next year anyway) rather than be concerned about how they’re going to cook their food or take a shower without electricity.
Personally, if I was in this situation, if a long term power outage was a concern, I’d be making preparations to keep myself safe, clean and fed, rather than worry about Guild Wars 2 Halloween events.
You don’t need electricity to take a shower. And there are some houses that have gas stoves, not electric. Regardless, at this point, every family has done what they can to prepare. There’s really only so much preparing you can do. I’m not being affected, but my family back home is.
I am also getting irritated at all of these comments of “worry about your safety, not your game!” Almost everyone I know back home is only expecting a power outage (plus some heavy wind, rain, but no flooding or anything dangerous like that), and safety really isn’t of much concern. Sure, they could worry about trees falling on their houses or cars, but we’ve had some really heavy winds before… and pretty much every tree in my area is big enough to hold against it. In other words, when all they are expecting is their power to go out, of course they are going to worry about the game.
And this is gaming forum. If someone is taking the time to visit and post here, don’t you think the game means a lot to them? What else do you expect?
I hope that the east coasters have some way to make up for this event. Maybe 4 instead of 5 achievements for the title would be a way to go.
And on a lighter note, I’m excited for the November 15th update!
Nope! I’m trying to get everything, although I’m not too interested in the pumpkin carving. I only have about 90 out of the 150, but I’m not really worried about it.
After completing the tower, which took forever btw, I’ve done it an additional 7 more times (4 in a row at one point). It’s a lot more fun once the pressure is off.
You just have to focus on where you’re going, and not the fact that you can’t see. You aren’t alone in that difficulty and frustration, and people have still managed to succeed. Don’t do the puzzle if you don’t want to, because that’s not the point. But if you did want to, just ignore all of the pricks and memorize your muscle movements.
