I was wondering about the first one as well. It does say that there will be an option in game to upgrade your game, and I assume that if you do that you will be able to use the characters created.
However, I am also wondering if after the free trial period ends, if people, using the same e-mail address, can keep those created characters.
So… is it basically like Skype?
ventrillo
Sorry but that doesn’t help. =P What is “Ventrillo”?
Hey all!
So I hear a lot of guilds talking about having a “vent”.
What exactly is that?
Tarnished Coast is also full of role players (I’m one too), so you have to get used to that. We are usually very nice and some of us do normal PvE and other things…
I’ve been roleplaying forums for over 8 years. I’m extremely interested to try MMO type of RP.
And actually, if anybody’s interested, I just got into TC like 1 minute ago. Check if it’s still available for you!
Hey all!
Does anybody have any tips on the best times to try to join Tarnished Coast? I know it’s a bit of a long shot, but I’d really like to switch my server to this one.
Thanks!
TC seems to be full more often than not nowadays. Perhaps try really early morning.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll give that a try
Hey all!
So I am trying to join a full server, and right now I’m just waiting for it to change to “High”… If it matters, I am trying to get to Tarnished Coast.
Either way, when looking at the list does the order of the “Full” servers have any indication of population level? For example, the servers closer to the top, or closer to the bottom, mean decreasing population.
Mostly, if I see the server closer to the top, I would check more frequently. Also, does the list update automatically or would I have to refresh it?
Thanks!
i don’t think it goes with their culture, or something. it just doesn’t feel right to look at a short-haired viking-barbarian-werebear-lady.
I completely agree. I love the current long-haired Norn hair styles, and I love my human’s short hair. It suits both of them perfectly. For Norn, it is about their culture and short hair just doesn’t suit them as well.
I would be completely opposed to no sending money through mail. I’ve gotten pretty used to depositing most (not all) of my money into the bank, leaving a little left over just in case. But sometimes I unexpectedly go into WvW or a dungeon with some friends. And then my armor breaks… and I don’t have enough to repair. They’ll quickly mail me the money so I can pay them back later and then I can just keep playing. This would be a bad idea.
Gotta say, I disagree entirely.
I often play single player, but like that I run into other people on the map. It was one of the biggest issues I had with Guild Wars 1, I was always on my own and never met anyone. Fun game, but not social enough for me. I love how I can just run around and run into people, and rarely have to LFG for DE’s and quests. Of course that changes with dungeons, and I’d like a better LFG tool for that.
I also think that the leveling system in Guild Wars 2 is near perfect.
Well. I ran into 4-5 guys today on my low level thief account… but each meeting it ended with us going on our separate ways. I mean, people were “curteous” to say hi and smile… but usually the socializing part just ends at that – “unless you guys want to get the same SP or DE or complete the same heart”. But most of the time our “progress are different” – so it ends up usually with people parting ways.
If you make no obligation to group with people, then that’s your fault.
Why would you want to completely remove one of the most important aspects of this game? The co-op. Your suggestion at the top of the thread is to take the multiplayer co-op section of the game, and throw it out the window because you want a solo experience. That’s just stupid, this game is an MMO for a reason.
You don’t obligate yourself to play with others, you play with others if you enjoy it, and don’t if you don’t enjoy it. Not that hard to get.
Also, the COOP mode is for players who likes find a party easily to do DEs in the open world. Since these DE’s repeat, they should only be triggered with ppl there… not when nobody is there. If you really don’t want to party, then running side by side really… it’s pointless. I RARELY see two people head to anywhere together, it’s always the DE’s that brings people together anyways. If you’re gonna sight-see, then you don’t need other players to sight-see with you; we’ve all seen plenty of GW2 art already.
You can easily enter “COOP mode” by asking someone in LA, “Hey. Anybody bored and want to do some map completion and help with story progression?” It’s really not that hard and actually… especially level 80s who feel there’s nothing left to do, people will probably respond.
I would 100% oppose this idea. I have been in groups with other players before when we have two completely different stories. In fact, we were different races, and we did fine. We helped each other with each other’s stories, and we cleared areas. It wasn’t a big deal and we didn’t need to be on the same progression to party up.
Either way, I love how the open world is right now.
I will admit that I have a biased perspective because I am from the US and the one-time Sunday event will probably work out for me.
However, it makes sense. We don’t know how dramatically this event will change the game, and having it as a repeatable event just may not work. This game is also heavily relied on the lore and game immersion. Game immersion won’t be possible if something this dramatic and big (which is what ANet is leaning us towards) changes the entire world, to just be repeated over and over again.
Technically, maybe this could cause issues. I’m not a game designer, or programmer, or anything but because of this game’s open world environment, if the world of Tyria is going to physically change, it would make it difficult for this open world. Some players will see one thing, while others will be forced to see another. They can’t “force” all of the players who didn’t participate in an event into a separate world instance. That sounds difficult.
That’s not to say… That they can’t let people do the chain event in a separate instance with party members. Have an NPC, take them to the lobby of that chain event instance. Yes, the end might be given away when Tyria’s changed, but at least then players can see how it happened.
I agree with Sinta. I don’t really think the star should be account bound for that exact reason.
I think it’s cute. It was hilarious during Mad King Says
I agree. When everyone shrugged, I could not stop laughing.
I don’t really understand how this is an exploit.
I’ve accepted the fact that WP’s exist for now, and at the higher levels, this is frustrating but it’s something I am doing. LA, however, is the capital of the entire game. It is the best place to meet up with people to do dungeons, to ask people questions when the other zones/cities, etc. are basically empty. It is the social hub. The game basically forces you to go there for those reasons.
ArenaNet doesnt sell them as far as i know.
Which is silly, in my opinion.
If they made a little ghost Quaggan plush, I would definitely ask for one for Christmas.
My primary on this list would be the ability to name them. I would love this feature!
You can stop them from being deposited as a collectible with an Invisible Bag. Not as convenient, but it is an option.
To all Charrs, Norns, Sylvaris, Asuras and Humans ! To all of you !

@castlemaniac: “kitten” is the forums’ censorship. So when you see kitten, it’s probably covering up a cuss word.
The first half of this post sounds a bit elitist to me. I understand being frustrated with other players who do not come into dungeons prepared, but when you then also ask us to help each other out in the community, you have to understand that dungeons are new to a lot of people. And if they aren’t new, that maybe they aren’t aware of these “shiny things” they can use to upgrade their armor. Or even perhaps they can’t afford a new set of armor? Nonetheless, a lot of these are things that have been talked about before, especially the bots and I do agree with a majority of the points.

I’m certainly not opposed to more emotes!
And I agree about the directing part. I’ve seen some complicated character names, and I just don’t have the energy or time to type them out when I’m in the midst of a battle (especially for us RPers). I would love a “type emote” + “click character” option.
I’m not visually impaired, but I definitely don’t see any problem with ANet implementing this into the game. I completely support it!
You’re only level 12. You do not yet have a complete grasp of the class and its mechanics, quirks, shortfalls and bugs. In open world PvE we have very few problems, which is why it’s such a common class for bots. In dungeons, WvW and PvP is where the problems start.
I can understand the difficulties with PvP, although not WvW so much where I’ve found that I really need a good distant attacker. But I’m not going to throw my little ranger in quite yet, haha.
Uh yeah…just read the threads in this forum to know what is wrong with this class…your lvl 12 for god sake…..
I know I’m only level 12, which is kind of why I was asking. Just so I can be prepared down the road. =P
You spent 8+ hours a day on a game, and then you expect the game to keep up with your level of activity? That’s a bit unfair, in my ever so humble opinion.
I’ve actually seen the opposite. People on my server seem to be getting much more active. I guess that’s the bonus of starting off with a smaller server.
Hey all!
So I’ve just recently made a female Norn Ranger. I needed a break from my Guardian.
I’m only level 12, so I’m still pretty new to the class, but so far I am absolutely loving it. I can go up against a large mob, and with my pet keeping the enemies at a distant, I almost never die. They seem pretty awesome to me!
So my question is, why do people complain about them? I’m not saying they shouldn’t, I simply just don’t know. I never played a ranger in GW1, so the whole class is pretty new to me. Besides, it may get worse later on.
Thanks!
Slightly off topic: Lornar’s Pass is beautiful! I loved completing that zone.
However, the Dredge are absolutely terrible and that area definitely drove me to hate them even more. They respawn like crazy, and the knockdowns are near impossible to deal with. Gosh!
I’m not a guy, so I can’t say from a male perspective…
But I was always under the impression that for hardcore gamers, it was all about the fantasy. They can fantasize about this “sexy” female character that they’ve created as an ideal.
That’s frustrating. =/ I have done it before with another character, so I do know it’s not 100% glitched. I’m just not really sure what sets it off haha.
Hey all!
Just so you guys are aware, on our server (Anvil Rock), the event at Beetletun Farms that involves collecting sprinklers is stuck. It says 0 centaurs remaining, but she isn’t collecting. This also is pretty much preventing any spawns of centaurs near that area.
Thanks!
Hey guys!
This has probably been suggested before, but just in case I’m going to make a new thread. If there are a ton of these around (I did a quick search, I didn’t find any) then I can just go ahead and delete it.
Either way, I think it would be cool to have a “xx user has logged on” in the Guild Chat when a user that is currently representing the Guild has logged on. This should only happen if that user is representing the guild. In that case… If the player then changes their representation, it should appear in the Guild Chat that “xx user has logged on”, or something. Just a small idea.
Thanks for the consideration!
Hey all!
I’m finally starting to try to get my daily/monthly achievements… This will be my first attempt at getting monthly.
So out of curiosity, if anybody knows, are you able to repeat dungeons for the monthly achievement? Also, is it story or exp mode? I’m only level 45 at the moment, so I can only do two dungeons, so I was wondering.
Thanks!
I only purchased the Mad King’s Costume and mini pets. I will most likely definitely buy mini pets again for Wintersday, but I may not do the costumes depending on whether or not we get some kind of NPC to collect all of our costumes. I’ll quickly run out of bank space!
I was thinking about this 100g thing as well. I’ve found that two commanders I’ve worked with do truly deserve the title. They are the leaders of two really large WvW guilds, and they tell all of us what to do and where to go. They possess the leadership skills. However, I can’t say that that’s the case everywhere.
I think the easiest way for ANet would be to a combination of WvW achievements, rather than just paying your way to the title.
A more complicated way, that may or may not work or be supported, would maybe be some kind of nomination system? I don’t really know how this would work, but I’m sure players see somebody’s who doing a good job taking charge in WvW would be willing to nominate that individual to receive a free commander manual.
No support, there are already many people who bought t3 cultural armor.
And there are probably many more people who haven’t bought it.
The target system in GW1 worked really well for me.
My biggest gripe about the target system in this game is that nearly every time I press the tab, it targets a friendly creature and attack. And then all of a sudden, I get a mob of moas running towards me. I don’t like killing the friendlies if I don’t have to, but the tab always makes me.
I don’t mind having to manually choose my target, but this just annoys me!
I saw people complaining about in the map chat. I was too focused on the Halloween event to really focus on the monthly, so fortunately I didn’t lose out.
However, I don’t think using GW2 wiki is the appropriate place to submit such information. Instead, this should be available on the official GW2 website. I’m tired of having to get all of my information from these outside sources when things like this (which are game mechanics, not tutorials) are not available on the main website.
Either way, at least now I’m aware.

But no-one is responsible for your moods other than yourself. People demanding it be removed because they felt too stressed, angry or impatient is wrong. You choose to be angry and impatient with the puzzle.
No one chooses to be angry and impatient. That’s self-help waffle. You have some limited control over your emotions, but it’s foolish not to look for the exterior source of them and try to confront it.
It may be difficult to control your immediate negative reactions to something (such as anger or impatience), but it is not the designer’s responsibility or fault if you choose not to change that attitude into something more positive. If you get angry because you fell, you can just accept that you fell and move on. Instead, it seems that some people have made the decision to stay angry and take those emotions out on the designer and the other people of ANet. They have chosen to not take responsibility for their own emotions and actions and have decided to place the blame on other characters within the game. These are all decisions that players make in reaction to the puzzle, when instead they could say to themselves, “Okay. I’m really not in the right mind set for this right now. I’ll go do something else.”
Still feel it’s a completely free choice?
It is absolutely 100% completely free choice. I may be in the minority thinking here, but everything is a choice. At a school I visited, they teach first graders that they have a choice. They can choose to behave, and be rewarded, or they can choose to misbehave, and be punished. Regardless, it is their decision (even if sometimes, the choice seems obvious, or that there no choice). You have to accept the responsibility of that choice, good or bad. If you choose to partake in the puzzle, then you accept the drawback of it taking some time. If you choose to partake in the puzzle, then you accept that it’s going to be difficult. If you choose not to partake in the puzzle, then you accept that you will not receive those achievement points, however you can still receive the title. In the case medical disabilities, then you have to long ahead of time accept the fact that these types of activities are going to be difficult. You can either choose to accept that fact, and get on with your game, or you can choose to be frustrated by the designer for not making it accessible to every type of individual. That choice is yours’.
Is this on YouTube? I did a quick search and failed. I totally didn’t see her take down the Mad King!
This was the first jumping puzzle I had done in the game (although I have dome some vistas, but those are nothing in comparison) to the clock tower. It took me over 8 hours to complete on my female Norn, and it was an exhilarating moment. Not only that, but I went back to play it some more after taking a break. I had fun just about every second of it. Sure, I was cussing up a storm, but I was enjoying it. Even more so after completing it and the pressure was off my shoulders to get the achievement points for it.
In that regards, I had absolutely no preparation for the puzzle. In fact, when the puzzle started, I was one of those “Where do I go?” and I didn’t move my character and was immediately engulfed by the green goo. I did that twice, before noticing other players jumping up the stairs and that it was timed. Literally, I had no preparation.
And I was just fine with it. I loved being able to learn how to do this jumping puzzle, and it’s kind of prepared me for any future jumping puzzles I want to do in the game. I “mastered” the space and w key, I’ve experimented with camera angles, etc. Going in blind really opened my eyes to some game features I didn’t know was available. Even something as simple as disabling double tap, or hiding the UI. I loved it!
I also really like having other players. I wish that there was a smaller amount of players in each round (like 5-7), but I do like having people to talk to between the rounds, being able to ask for advise on certain sections, cheering others on who are having difficulty, etc. It was a great learning/meeting opportunity. In fact, I met a couple people from different servers through there. We all had something in common: our desire to finish this difficult, but fun puzzle.
I’m an inexperienced jumper, I had no idea what I was doing, no preparation, etc… and I still loved it. This is a jumping puzzle… I want my hand held when figuring out things like Mad Memories. But when it comes to something like this, I want to learn by myself. Thanks, Josh!
Hmm, I got the hat the first time but every other time I did it I was rewarded with bags. I got 10 bags the last time I did it.
As did I.
I actually did hear a few people on the map asking where the ToT bags were for every correct action. I never played Mad King Says in GW1, so I don’t have a comparison, but I would rather a chest reward over ToT bags for the actions. I don’t think they could/should do both.
Honestly , is is obvious to anyone that they spent more time over that skin. Thus no wonder more players would want that over the others.
Still i dont really like that gs , i mean , only char i would use that on is a charr warrior.
My gs using char is a norn guardian , and in my opinion it would lock ridiculous on her. Why a guardian would use a greatsaw anyway???
My main female Norn is a Guardian, and her primary weapon is the Greatsword. I can tell you it doesn’t look weird on her. Plus why would a Guardian use a greatsword? A guardian needs to be able to attack sometimes.
Ofc we must be offensive also , but…
My point is , when i look at my guard i think she should have a +- noble look , be it for good or bad , she should look like a knight.
Leave it to the warriors to be barbaric.
A greatsaw would not fit my guard look , i got 3 skins from this event: scythe/crossing/mad moon, i really dont miss the greatsaw.
Haha, I understand that barbaric look. I just like the GS too much. :P In relation to this topic though, I think GS gets a lot of hate (and there are quite a few ugly skins out there for them, and considering how big they are, more detail should be placed in their design) so I am okay with them focusing a little bit more on the GS. But my Alt uses daggers so I understand the ugliness thing.
Naturally, I would vote for the Mad King!

I am actually quite pleased with how the Halloween event was scheduled. I do wish that some kind of in-game mail, or the end date was posted on the Halloween’s main page, was available to tell everyone “This event ends when Act 4 starts.” I was lucky that I heard a ton of people on the map chat talking about it, and I was lucky for actually being there when Act 3 starts. So I got the dungeon over with pretty quickly.
As for the day time limit, which like someone said was more like 3-4 days, I loved it. It made the world so much more immersive. Give us a better head’s up, ANet, and people won’t have any excuses for missing the dungeon. Please don’t extend these types of events. It was timed perfectly!
It was difficult so I decided there was no way Halloween was ending without me finishing it.
That’s all ^^
Pretty much this. I had failed a few times, and once that happened… And I heard other players completing it, I was pretty much determined to be among those people as well.
None, but I did spend $20 for some gems for the minipets.
Me too!
I wasn’t going to risk any of my money on the chests, and I am sympathetic to those who did not get so lucky.
You are not the only person with this issue. There is a thread for it in the Bugs forum.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Emissary-of-the-Mad-King/page/3#post599656
And to add…
Make sure you have received a medal for the event (bronze, silver, or gold). If not, then you probably did not actually complete it. If so, and the achievement is still not there that you attended the party, log out and log back in. I had to do this, and then it showed I did it.
I ended up just going naked in the Clocktower before anybody could say something to me, haha.
An Asuran said something along those lines, and I just replied to him, “And I am tripping over all the ants.”
For a large variety of reasons… I love the lore behind them, I’ve recently fallen in love with Norse mythology, and I love the snow!
Like another user had said, I too wish that the female voice wasn’t so deep. Other than that, she’s perfect.
