We should keep all the threads bumped, because this is a pretty big issue. As another player said in another related thread, this is making the Necro a liability when grouping.
I don’t mind it the way it is. I prefer to keep solo, however often times when finding events to play I find a one or two other players doing the event, and we end up following each other to the next 3-4 to finish our dailies. We don’t need to party up to do it, and I prefer it that way.
I would definitely support some dance move packs. That’d be a lot of fun!
I would love a reason to go back to the capital cities, and having LA type JPs in them would be great! +1
I agree with Pixelpumpkin about the achievement points. I could care less about the people getting their rewards (as someone else said, they aren’t rares), however they should not be allowed to receive the achievement points for not actually doing the puzzle. That seems like a no brainer to me.
It would be great to get acknowledgement of this bug. It’s a pretty big one.
Wow. Thank you for the information, LyricDawnhagen, that was quite informative.
I do hope they are able to somehow to do it.
Here’s to hoping that ANet will give us some response.
Rather than having a second home server, I think it would make more sense to have guesting between NA and EU (I could be wrong, but this isn’t currently available right?).
yeah when they originally talked about guesting a lot of us Believed it would include cross regions as we’ll but somewhere down the line that changed, i really think they would be helping their player base either allowing us to guest cross region or have a Home server on both
I’m not even sure why this would be difficult. I’m not that knowledgeable about how servers work, but is anybody able to provide insight as to why this hasn’t been added when guesting was? Or perhaps it’s not difficult at all.
Trolls End portals are a social thing. The rewards from the chest are not so overpowered that it creates a problem in any sense. To stop it would be to make the game more impersonal for zero benefit.
I’m not opposed to it. I’ve used it a couple of times myself. Just saying that is a little bit silly, although I could understand someone saying that it’s cheating. (I don’t agree about it being social. People, at least in my experience, just go and leave.)
I’ve been doing it every day if I play that day (sometimes I can’t play at all). I never really feel obligated to do it. I’m lucky to not be at level 80 yet, and still exploring zones and therefore doing daily quests. Usually just by doing my daily thing, I end up getting all of the requirements without much additional effort.
I just finished watching a GW1 dance video, and boy did it bring back some memories… I really miss having different dances for gender AND class. I know that now we have 5 different races so it makes for more complications, but I wish we at least had some variations. If ANet could make a different dance for each race, gender, and class that would be awesome. But I won’t hold my breath.
Same thing. I remember several occassions where I had just completed a heart-vendors quest and want to check out their inventory. And someone aggros a monster and then leaves the area. Give me invulnerabilty if I am out of combat for a minute. I want to check out the inventory not fight the monster again till I feel like it.
Checking out the inventory is a lot different than tabbing out of the game and going “afk”. This I could understand. It’s happened to me many times when mining that a monster appears out of nowhere. But honestly, it doesn’t bother me enough to ask for a change from ANet. As for those morons who brought those monsters to you… They’re playing the game as intended. As someone else said, it was your fault for standing around. Don’t blame other players for playing. With some of the suggestions out there lately, I wish there a -1 button to go with the +1 one. :P
I agree about the sex holes, those really don’t suit my Necro. COF and SE aren’t too bad, but I’ve settled with the Dry Bones set (I actually like the ritual type feel), although I hate the mask. I’d prefer it with just the hood so I may steal it from another armor set.
I would absolutely love for ANet to introduce some kind of additional, hard-mode difficult story line to obtain the legendary while still allowing the option to grind (do some people actually prefer grinding? Probably not, but oh well) and stop allowing legendaries to be sold in the TP. I agree that this could ruin the game.
While levelling my Necromancer, I just did what I could with a level 80 build (adding in my skills as I went along). The traits and gear stats were off, but I got used to the build and that benefited me in the long run. Either way, I definitely would first recommend a Guardian. Guardians do really well with solo in PvE (probably second to Ranger in easiest). Necro is a good second, however.
In the mean time…
Have you considered the Devout armor?

Rather than having a second home server, I think it would make more sense to have guesting between NA and EU (I could be wrong, but this isn’t currently available right?).
Edit for reply: So guesting isn’t available? Now that surprises me, and I definitely think that should be implemented. +1

Agreed. I’d support opening up the elite utility slot (or just decrease the cool down for elite skills to no more than 60 seconds). Do not touch the heal skill. Every player should be self-sufficient.
Portaling does not happen only in WvW. There are always portals going on at the LA JPs.
I don’t really care that people do it. It’s honestly their business. In WvW, I can certainly understand (server helping its members in WvW makes complete sense). However, in LA, it’s just silly. :P
I don’t necessarily support this. It worked in GW1 because of instances, however seeing as this is an open world where some (if not all) events are activated by a player’s presence, this is just a nuisance. If I go afk, I accept that a monster will probably attack me or I’ll go to the mists before tabbing out.
1) Nobody is forcing you to do the world completion, therefore, nobody is forcing you to play WvW.
Let me just point out that “Nobody is forcing you to do world completion” is the worst argument anyone can come up with.
The entire game is optional, nobody forces you to even play it.
So when players have a problem there is no need to fix it, just stop playing the game! Everything is fixed!
-Personal Story quest bugged. Just don’t do personal story. fixed
-X profession underpowered. Just don’t use that profession. fixed
-All medium armors are so ugly. Just don’t pick a ranger, thief or engineer. fixed
-I don’t want to do WvW for map completion. Just don’t do map completion. fixedSeriously.. I’m so sick of that argument.
While your view point is no more or less accurate than an opposing one, your argument is pretty weak. The game being bugged is a problem. A profession being unbalanced is a problem. Ugly armor is completely objective. I for one don’t find all medium armors ugly. Not “wanting” to do something is completely different from not physically being able to (such as a game bug). Everyone is capable of doing WvW map completion (with difficulty, sure) but still capable.
Really great video, I learned a lot about when to use death shroud in combination with lich form. Thank you!
I am not a WvW player, have not started getting my legendary, no map completion, etc.
I think a better solution would be to change the team maps whenever WvW restarts. Sure, it’ll require that the player sits around and waits but until then, you can gather up the materials required to craft your legendary which will take a while anyway.

I’m not sure if you’re talking just about having an app but I would love to have a website version of at least the gem store.
Has been requested quite a few times. There’s one on the second page already.
Thanks for the reply, DelOnasi! I have actually used the staff before, and perhaps I’m not using it correctly because it never seems to do really any damage for me. But I’ll try using it in a more controlled setting to see how it works.
As for the build, here’s the link: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/67051-necro-power-build-daggerfocus-and-wells/
I’m pretty new to Necromancers, so I haven’t tried any variations.
Hey all!
So I’ve been using a really amazing dagger/warhorn power build on my now level 52 Necromancer.
Any suggestions, however, on a secondary weapon/skill set that can still do well with my traits (30/20/0/20/0)? The dagger/warhorn does great in solo PvE, so I would prefer something that would do better with dungeon/groups just in case.
Thank you!
I think a hard mode would be a great addition to the game, however with all the other suggestions out there about how to obtain your precursor (and how to make it a storyline or scavenger hunt), I prefer those over this one. Regardless, doing these heart events will become repetitive and it is still farming. I’d like to avoid farming altogether.
Not sure, but with the information provided I’m not totally in support of this because of the other ideas going around.
@Euthymia.4807: I agree. I think it should have been like the the whole time.
If precursors were easy to come by everyone would have a legendary. It’s nobody’s fault but yours if you started with the easy parts of the legendary grind and then get discouraged when you don’t want to do the hard parts. Get your world completion, clovers, and precursor first. The rest are the easy parts.
Don’t give me that load about any idiot being able to buy a legendary, if it were so easy to do you and I would have one by now. Thousands of gold to buy a legendary translates into thousands of dollars if you buy gems from Anet. I say if some idiot is willing to spend thousands of real dollars for a stupid legendary, they can have it. That’s a legendary waste of money.
Spot on!
The people complaining about how the legendary isn’t legendary to get are the ones who want it handed to them.Spot on what; you’re probably one of those gold farmers if you honestly agree with the current method. It’s a LEGENDARY item; Since when has FARMING…EVER equated to legendary? Legendary has always, and should always mean it’s difficult to obtain, but still is possible WITHOUT rng. As someone has already said; as it stands now, you could NEVER see a precursor drop if your rng is terrible. This forces you to do what a lot of people do NOT enjoy…farming. You have so save up an estimated 400-600 gold (which ANet has already said was far too high) to buy an item from some one who has better rng; making them not only lucky, but now wealthy.
All I got from this was:
Puppy dog face and tears in the eyes
“Your account is rigged and is luckier than my account. This is so unfair. * sniffly * You’re a gold farmer! * sniffly* How could you go against my thought that legendaries should be handed out? * sniffly, sniffly * How can something possibly be LEGENDARY and not take A LOT of expansive materials to make it so grand?” * Sniffly sniffly *
A whole lot of crying.
It’s not like in real life the grandest swords had any rare materials like gold or jewels on them. Come on, get real. IF legendary armor comes out, that should be expansive too, just as rich knights in the medieval time spent a lot of money on ceremonial armor.
Last I recall, rich knights didn’t have to go out collecting armor, weapons, materials, etc. in order to get rich. I’m pretty sure they were paid for doing a job. Expensive is fine. Grinding is not.
I’ll help.
I love my Necromancer, and at level 52 this is the farthest I have gotten with any of the classes. Once you get used to the mechanics, Necro is a lot of fun! However, the downed state is probably my biggest issue. At least let us know you guys are reading this.
Hey ANet!
So this is a really minor bug (maybe you guys should have a thread for little things so I don’t have to waste your space for something so small?), but I thought I’d say it anyway just so you guys know.
The Shadow Armor merchant Undercover Agent Tulfar sells two items called “Recipe: Shadow Coat”. One of them actually is the coat, and the other is the mantle. So just a small name change.
I agree with mercury. I just think there should be different icons for the different types of merchants. This has been suggested a few times before.
You can access them by going to Forum Profile (right next to my account) and See all Messages by “….”.
I really hope you get your greatsword back, as it is clearly an error on ANet’s side.
I’ve wanted this for a while, so I’m definitely +1 on this. I love collecting minis, but if we could brawl them then I would be spending a lot more money on them.
I do, however, think minis should be balanced.
I don’t really see why this is needed in the game. Similarly to Astral, each of my characters keep a minimum of 50s. Every time they level up, I go to LA to sell all my junk/items, buy anything I need, and deposit whatever money I have left over. It’s not that difficult.
If ANet did this, I hope it’s optional because I would probably disable it.
never said it was difficult whatsoever.
simply stated that its easier and faster. if theres people like you who would prefer the extra hassle to port to a bank, run to the bank and deposit the money, and then log on to the character that the money is needed on, port to a bank, run to it, and withdraw it instead of just conveniently having it shared across character’s, i can see how it wouldnt get much support
but imo thats just silly.
Well, I should mention that I never have to switch to another character to get money in order to purchase something… Because I’m always depositing money into the bank. It makes more sense, to me, to go to LA every level or so to sell all the stuff in my pack and deposit any leftover money. Going to Mists and then LA takes me about… 1 minute, probably. Barely any time wasted. It’s just how I play, and I understand everyone plays differently. But like I said, if ANet implemented this, I would not use it.
I read another comment, which basically said that obtaining a legendary item should be, well… Legendary. Right now it’s just grind/farm/save your money, not including luck or the mystic forge.
Personally, I would think it’d be pretty amazing if ANet introduced an additional “personal storyline” quest, once you’ve reached level 80 and finished the missions, that you can activate by talking to an NPC, which will lead you on a long chain-event type story to obtain your legendary. To add to its difficulty (in addition to making the actual events difficult), maybe have some prerequisites like world completion, dungeon master, etc (or whatever) so that it isn’t so common. This, I think, would be a lot of fun and I’d do it even if I failed a bunch of times because at least I’m playing a game, not grinding.
And to finish… I don’t understand why these weapons can be sold on the TP, period. It should be account bound.
I actually love this idea; as you said legendary weapons as they are, are just a grind. The only “skill” involved is the amount of free time you have to put toward…farming.
Rift did a wonderful job of putting in a very epic quest line that encompassed the entire game. With many many quests that had you do things both throughout the world AND in instances. Mind you, this didn’t give you a legendary at the end; however it gave you a top tier item that was usually best in slot till the loot table at the final boss of the first tier of raiding.
Heck; another idea would be just to implement some cosmetic gear, or even a precursor to a special vendor that allowed you to purchase things using your infinitely increasing achievement points.
I’m glad you like the idea! I love the idea of just going through the entire world (hence why I think world completion should may be be a requirement, just to make it more difficult) and instances. I think it would be even more epic if they somehow made it relevant to your previous story-line as well. The more I think about it, the more I want it. I also think it’ll give level 80 players a reason to come back because now they have more challenging story line quests to do. And still allow the option to grind, if people actually want to do that. :P
Still no answer?
I’ve heard of several people who would like ANet to offer a free trial as well, but not only during events. They didn’t do it with GW1, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if they didn’t do it here, but I agree that it would be beneficial.
Actually GW1 did have a trial. Fourteen day if I recall correctly. Although it was odd because it was actually only a ten hour trial, they just gave you a really long time to actually get in your ten hours.
Really? In the 6 years playing, I was not aware of this. :P
No to elves. They do not fit in the current lore and let’s face it – they’re cliche.
As for dwarves, this has been debated before. It’s possible (despite only 1 living) but not likely.
This happened to me yesterday while doing the puzzle. Funny the first time, not so funny the second. Fortunately, it did save my atunements. On Tarnished Coast.

This may lead to the problem of overpopulating, however. If everybody’s trying to get to their guild hall while inside one of the actual cities… I don’t want to be queued.
ANet, can you guys let us know what’s going on?
