I’m going to bump this, just because I would love to have some kind of bank pin option to just add security to your account.
Hey all!
(Note that I have been absence from this game for the past month or so, so honestly… I have no idea what’s going on.) I’m finally going to have some free time this weekend and I really want to try SAB. Knowing how these events can be, would a level 40-ish be alright? Am I able to solo it, or will I be required to have a group?
I’m super excited to give it a shot. Thanks!
Re-summoning them is my biggest problem. I am constantly moving through zones, and because of this I’ve pretty much stopped having them in my inventory all together when I’m not in LA. I would love more functionality for my mini-pets.
Also… can we please have mini-pet brawls?
When Im running to Cliff tower from citadel, I am always falling and dieing .
It’s easy to find the safe routes there, and most anywhere. I guess if you run a low HP build it can be more risky, but fragility comes with its risks.
I don’t have a problem with falling damage. You shouldn’t be able to jump off a 100ft high cliff to escape battle and not pay a heavy price, and, if you use the right skill at the right time to send someone off said cliff, you should at least get the satisfaction of knowing you killed them.
The only problem I have with falling damage is that it puts us in combat.
That drives me crazy. Sometimes I’m in my town clothes and just want to jump for fun. Then half way through, my armor pops on and it totally ruins what I had in mind. :P
But I agree with everyone. Falling damage is a realistic part of the game that I like.
All the stats would be transmuted including the defense. You also select which upgrade to keep if one or both have an upgrade already.
Oh okay. Thank you!
I did not know that about the crystals.
Thank you for the information from both of you, it’s really appreciated!
Hey guys!
I’ve honestly never transmuted before, and right now I’m just thinking of what armors I want “in the end”.
I am going to be using a female Norn Ranger (so medium armor) in this particular example situation.
I want the look of the tier 2 cultural armor, but the stats of a stronger exotic (like Arah).
First, how would I transmute this? Second, would the defense numbers be transmuted as well or just the power, vit, etc.? Is it possible to achieve this?
Thanks!
Have tablets and phones replaced consoles, PCs, and media set-top boxes yet? Methinks one day soon the video game industry will have to come to terms with that. Things like HDMI output, bluetooth, and especially DLNA over WiFi make it so that a tablet/phone could become a media gateway for the whole house one day. I think that’s going to happen and when it does, video games will suffer a regression in graphics quality and complexity for a while until the hardware catches up to current PC standards.
… but then where will PC standards be by that point? Seems like it would be a never ending cycle of catch up.
For retail customers and home users, desktop PC sales have declined. I think PC performance will eventually become a moot point except for commercial/academic use.
BTW, my generation will staunchly cling to what we know and like. I think it’ll be the younger generation of consumers (those in high school and college) that will more readily accept the changes. They do things differently. For instance, they don’t sit down to watch TV with undivided attention. They watch TV in the background while being online and doing other things.
Not true. I’m in college, and I am certainly capable (and do quite frequently) of sitting down in front of the TV and just watch it without playing on the computer/phone/etc. Also, I prefer the PC over our PS3 and I avoid PS3 mmos. DC Universe Online, for example, is offered on both PS3 and PC and I prefer the PC version. You may be confusing this with the lower HS and under generation of kids, or perhaps I’m just in the minority.
Regardless, I can’t imagine GW2 being offered on either console. That’s not saying that ANet won’t do it, because it would probably be a financially smart decision (I have a friend who would play GW2 if it was offered on PS3) but I’m not sure how the functionality would work. If they could get a GW2 app, I’d be really excited for that.
I agree wih this but only upto a certain point. That point being story mode dungeons.
IMO, lore should be enjoyed solo with the option to do it with a group. The incentive to play explorable mode is already good. What needs more attention is the story mode. The Destiny’s Edge members could be the default henchmen during story mode dungeons, scaling down in usefulness when more players are present.
As of now, I am under the impression that Anet is testing scaling in dungeons. Specifically, the Super Adventure Box.
That being said, this thread will probably be mo ed to the suggestion forums.
I agree. I’m a player who really likes to enjoy the story part of the game… and doing the story-mode in dungeons with other players makes this pretty much impossible, as I’m more focused on doing everything correctly then taking a look and observing what’s actually happening. I would love to have henchmen for story-mode in dungeons. I want to say that I would like henchmen for instances, as well, but I’m not really sure. So far, I have been able to do all of my personal story by myself (around level 60 now). For added relationships, I would support it. But I think henchies would make the personal stories a little too easy.
I’d actually be okay with this, if the location of the spots changed on a daily basis (maybe just randomly chosen?) because then this may turn from being “fun” to just becoming a grind or something to farm and be exploited, especially if there’s going to be a prize at each spot. Randomly changing the locations everyday could make it fun though.
This is a great idea, and you certainly have my support! Word of mouth of events only gets you so far.
+1
ANet, this has to be fixed.
This makes a lot of sense. I’ve found that my Guardian nearly always recovers from the downed state, but my necromancer pretty much never does. Sure, I’m not a very skilled player but I’m glad to know it may not be 100% because of my play style.
I’m glad to see it was posted in the bugs forum. I really hope they fix this.

Tarnished Coast as well. I always see people just sitting and hanging around and talking to each other. The inns are overpopulated!
You’re probably on the wrong server for your play style. Try TC or PS.
ive made 4 different characters and each time the story was different.
thats as good as it gets in any mmo and people are still complaining?
I agree, in general. If you join the same order (which will happen at character 4), then it does get a little repetitive during those levels but otherwise, my stories have been different and I’m really enjoying it so far. This is a huge step-up from most MMOs.
I agree that home instances need to happen, and when they do (because they were promised) I hope they utilize some of your ideas. I still think ANet needs to have “capital city” events to encourage people to go to DR, Hoelbrak, Rata Sum, etc. Home instance events could be like those as well.
I’m not really sure how I feel about this. Humans have more characterization options than the other races as it is, so adding more before adding hair styles, faces etc. to the other races probably wouldn’t be a good idea. If they add more customization to the other races, than perhaps we can introduce small (not like Norn) tattoos for humans, but they need to get the others first.
I really love this game. I’ve tried other popular MMOs, and for one reason or another they never stuck quote like this game has. That doesn’t mean I don’t take breaks (I just started playing again after 1-2 months of absence), but the fact that it will always be there no matter what is great. It really takes off the pressure. I can play because I want to play.
I played a Norn Guardian, and she was great in PvE and I never had any problems (and if you stat vit and toughness, you should able to handle mobs by yourself with no issue). Guardian is probably my favorite profession!
Throw legendaries into the Mystic Forge
This.
And probably just go crazy with gem store items after getting all my desired armor/legendary items.
This is not a bug. Everyone experiences this.
And this has been coming up since the launch. Why ANet has not implemented it yet, I have no idea, but it really is pointless to have all the armors in there when my character can only wear one type.
When I say “bugged” I mean that I was bothered, annoyed… not that the game is buggy :p
Re-read it, and yes you’re right. :P And I agree… Very annoying!

I actually kind of the like the launcher… I don’t really check the website, so it’s an easy way for me to see the news and let it update the game without it taking up my entire screen. Although, I do also really like the full-screen version (like GW1) in terms of its physical appeal I do think I would miss having the news available right there.
It was pretty impossible to give a yes or no answer to your question.
cut.
I completely agree with Danikat. For starters, the game is free to play so there really is no harm in just going back and giving it a try again. You may lose 30-60 minutes of your life, but at least then you can know for sure rather than speculate and wonder.
Otherwise, I actually love the in-game events, especially chain ones. The bunny example is a great one (in the Norn starting area). Listening to the NPC conversations and dialogue gives a lot of depth to them. If you allow yourself to get into it and not just do the motions, you may enjoy them more.
You didn’t specify what it was about instances or leveling you didn’t like, so it’s hard to say what’s changed.
Absolutely no motorcycle for an Engineer, or any profession for that matter.
+1. As an English speaker, however, I would like a chat filter but there is no reason that those who need this alphabet should not have it.
I’d be fine if they just didn’t show up in the Starting zones… Started a charr recently and that one periscope by the level 2 renown heart blocked a good portion of the area from my movement. I can’t imagine being a new player and running into that massive spike in the difficulty curve in such a low-level area, restricting what should be an area for beginners- if I’d run into that when I first started I would probably have not continued playing this game.
I agree. This is my biggest issue with them. I also created a Charr and those things were a pain to get around, so much so that I actually just stopped playing her and moved to a different character.
There have a been a few posts about this (with similar ideas anyway), and I really wish we could save our builds. I know there isn’t a whole lot of build variances, but there is enough that solo PvE is much different than grouping. Please, ANet, let us save our builds and traits.
I love the idea of guild towns as well. I imagine that guild halls will come along with personal homes (if this is implemented), and I think having houses outside of it is awesome. If a guild expands the maximum number of members, then the land of the guild can expand as well and x number of houses become available for the new members.
I would love this! I played those events, but I wasn’t really paying attention to the lore that much.
A library in each major city (lore about each race, etc.) and event lore in Lion’s Arch.
I really, really hope they add this!
It’s exceptionally unlikely they would ever turn off leveling. It’s too integral to the endgame, such as it is. Hard Mode in gw1 was something you got after you finished one campaign. After that you could opt for it when you wanted it. Enemies were significantly higher in level and had more abilities. They attacked faster and had elite skills they didn’t have before. It definitely made the game a challenge. I could see them putting in a Hard Mode, where you are down scaled far more harshly than now. I can’t see them removing leveling.
This sounds like a better approach. Hard mode in GW1 was really actually pretty fun, but seeing as this is an open map game the down leveling is what would have to be changed. Actually, that’s a great suggestion and I would certainly support a hard mode!
Like the others have said, clicking on a target usually does not work for me… And my tab targeting has some pretty crazy priorities. I’ll +1 this.
Another issue is, why do i NEED to add people to my friends list just be able to party up with them, that in itself seems an insane way to set things up?
I now have 30 or so random people in my friends list just because i had to add them to a party etc…
Maybe this is new in recent updates (I’ve just come back from not playing for a bit), but I have never had to add players to my friends list to party up with them.
I am going to bump this (was just about to make a thread on it), because I would really love to see this added.
To add: I think a big complication with this is the trait system, because in order to change where your trait points are going you have to pay a fee (which I’m not really sure I like anyway). Personally, if they felt the need to keep the fee in place, I’d rather just a charge when I change my build to the saved traits (so I don’t have to go to a trainer each time).
I have not had this happen with support (never emailed them with my outlook account), but Outlook, in my experience, is very reliable when it comes to these types of warnings and I usually trust their judgment. If Outlook warned me about GW2 support’s email, I’d be pretty concerned. I hope ANet can figure it out!
I definitely don’t want elves in this game… They do not belong in Guild Wars.
I love inspecting a suspicious bush and seeing a huge Norn just randomly pop out of the tiny space.
Well Anet, I commend you on you timing. I was literally just in the process of getting the thirst slayer achievement when your update ensured I will now never get a completion. Barring some future event-related method of attaining a swift completion, I highly doubt that anyone, in all the days to come, will ever get this achievement. I actually thought it was kind of cool that you had to know exactly where to go and what to do to get this done. Some might have seen this as an exploit, but I saw it as savvy game playing.
The truly frustrating aspect of this, is that now the only people to have the achievement are those who got it before the update, giving them an permanent edge on points.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for challenges and achievements that are difficult and time-consuming to attain (eg. giant slayer), but thirst slayer is now just silly.
You obviously never tried to get the drinking achievement in Gw1……… 80g is NOTHING compared to what it took in Gw1
My not-so happy memories of GW1… Yikes.
As a necro who is not focusing on minions, it’s frustrating that I have to spend my skill points on them just to get past these. Also, I’m a lower level who has just reached level thirty today and could therefore only now get an elite skill. Stability was not an option before (I’m pretty sure). I may just try to stay out of the Norn and Charr starting zones until they’re gone, or until I’m stronger/more confident to deal with them.
Thank you! I was trying to find something similar.
Thanks Amun Ra and KuruptNightmare! And good call about the soul bound… I totally forgot about that. :P
Hey all!
So I finally got a grasp on the Living World story, mainly by staring at the achievement options and just figuring it out.
However, regardless of whether or not I’m trying to get the sonic audios, I am having a lot of difficulty with the sonic machines (I don’t remember exactly what they’re called, but they give you the eavesdropping moodlet and if you are in its pretty long range, you’ll receive a knockdown every couple of seconds). This is beyond frustrating. I’ll apply swiftness, run away, but still get knocked down a couple of times.
Any tips on how to attack these things? (I know about stability, but that only works until it runs out and usually I’m caught off guard by these things in the first place). Thanks!
When that happens to me, I usually just keep trying with different names that I like… I will not, and have not, settled with names that I’m not fond of. Keep trying with name variations, combinations, etc. and it will work eventually. You may have to be a little more open to different names (don’t remain attached to only one) and you will find some. You can also look up name generators online.
I’m in the same boat as the OP…
And to ask a dumb question, for clarification: What color are exotic items? I’ve been salvaging all of my weapons/armor (when I replace them with new ones) regardless of rarity type, so I’ll start selling on TP and vendors. Good tip!
I pretty much never see Engineers any where. I recently made a necro, and I’m going back to different starting areas and they are everywhere. I mean… everywhere. I was travelling in the Norn starting area and there were four of us in a “group” doing an event and we were all necros.
But I really never see Engineers, and next so far would be mesmers.
Low level zones =/= high level zones
When you reach level 30 you will be swimming in guardians and warriors.
I just reached level 30 this morning, so I look forward to seeing a little more variety and being the oddball. :P
I do think there needs to be some kind of “friend request” going on, so that the other side can accept it. I don’t want to be on someone’s following list, unknowing that they really didn’t want me to add them in the first place, and I do not like having people in my following list either. Although, I’m not sure I would want to have a different friends list for each character (that would probably get too confusing for me), I would like the option of going invisible BEFORE logging in.

Hey guys!
So my necromancer is only level 25, and I have a lot of learning to do. But…
I have noticed that my character does just fine with one enemy (even if it’s boss), but once I get three or more, I pretty much know I’m going to die. This is probably my fault because I may just not be that good at playing a Necro, but does anyone have any tips on how to handle large groups? I will also take build suggestions! I tend to solo PvE this game more.
I really want this back. I want to go back to areas I’ve completed, run around, and really see all those little details I’ve been missing. Please add!
