I was unaware of the 5 target limit (always thought the damage numbers I saw from my ranged AoE meant those were all I hit). Yeah, that needs to be removed from WvWvW

On a side note, anyone know where to find old DAoC 8man videos? There were quite a few of FGs destroying zergs back in the day.

Removing the AoE limit is not the solution and would in fact turn WvW into nothing but a AoE Zerg and cause balance issues.

Realistically in open battle a large force SHOULD be able to overwhelm a smaller force with pure numbers. In siege warfare its the opposite.

The problem for the defenders under siege by a zerg is not the AoE its the ease of which Zerg can capture without any siege at all.

I disagree, and agree with the op. What I disagree with is that siege weapons need to be nerfed. I also disagree with the targeting. Everything else I somewhat agree with. Here is my personal opinion in dealing with zergs.

If a group is much bigger than yours then it should for the most part overwhelm your group. Of course this changes when you are facing a fort. Forts are there to allow significantly less people to control an area against a significantly more amount. Currently this isn’t so, and I think I have the answer as to why this is. Arrowcarts cannot be safe behind a wall. Many things contribute to this, like AOE’s ignoring line of sight right now, which should be fixed soon. The bigger underlying issue however is the fact that camera control, and the fact that your zoom while operating the weapon is significantly limited. Therefore you are being forced to place a weapon intended to be in the back supplementing the frontline, onto the frontline itself. If we can have more options in the placement of such weapons it would greatly increase the difficulty level of taking a fort. It might actually force the invading force to build up siege weapons of it’s own to take a fort, which I think is how it should be in the first place. Especially if a fort is reinforced with heavy walls, and a heavy gate.

You nailed it man. This is the real issue. Any large force be it zerg or not should throw itself at a keep/tower and be absolutely decimated by it UNLESS they bring a bunch of siege. Taking a tower/keep/garrison should be IMPOSSIBLE without siege. It should be scaled as well. A Tower lets say could be taken with 1 catapult or 1 treb. A keep requires several and garrison even more. The larger the structure the more siege it should take.

Part of the issue is the siege used to defend structures are far to easy to kill imo. It should be hard to take it out or hell fix the camera so we can place arrow carts and balistae farther back or fix the fact that AoE can easily hit and decimate siege.

The walls also are designed very very poorly atm and its is practically suicide to stand at the wall and shoot down. This is messed up and very large part of why its hard to defend against a zerg/large force. If your behind that wall on the battlement shooting down it should be very hard for those on the ground to hit you and it should take no effort for you to rain death on them.

On a side not why are there no murder holes? Seems to me like an oversight for proper keep warfare.

In nutshell balance the defence of structures vs attacking forces with NO siege and this will not be a issue. With battles lasting 2 weeks in the future long siege’s should be the norm. It should not be easy to flip a structure. It should be hard and require real siege tactics. Atm you can just capture any structure with the right numbers without any siege and this is WRONG.

Yeah man hella I miss a ton of loot because I am just way to into the fighting and moving around. Hell a lot of the time I don’t even see the loot bag on the ground.

A real auto loot would be nice.

If they offer new character skin options like more hairstyles, tattoos etc… then they gotta offer a way to change those looks on current characters. Like say a remodeling vendor or magic item.

Hey and also maybe they can add more hairstyles too and a way to use gems or gold to change current hairstyle/features. Would be cool also if there was more tattoos you can buy or get for you characters.

Maybe you are confused about this thread.

OP is saying “I don’t want to do this dungeon over and over”
I’m saying “Then don’t do the dungeon over and over”

I’m trying to figure out how, in your mind, that is “removing this thing laymans call PvE”

Actually OP is saying that it is absurd that the only decent reward he can get from a dungeon requires him running the SAME dungeon 10+ times to earn enough tokens to buy 1 piece of gear that he would like. Pretty simple thing.

He specifically points out that other games offer random awards from the dungeon on top of tokens which can be used to purchase gear he wants. He is asking for a similar model based of the success of this model in another game.

I tend to agree with him. When I first found out that it was going to take me 10+ runs of the SAME dungeon to earn enough tokens to purchase 1 piece of gear and that I would pretty much get no other decent reward from the dungeon bosses I was like WTF is going on, is the same hyped game that I heard so much about.

This same audio bug started for me 2 nights ago. First time I had it happened it scared the living daylights out of me since my sound was really high at the time.

I too had to close GW2 client in order to make it go away. This has happened once to me in WvW and once again in Kessex Hills.

World Completion On Full or High Pop Servers

I agree, WvW should not be part of World Completion. There should be an extra PvP Map completion achievement for that.
Technically the Mists aren’t even part of the world to begin with.

^ This, the WvW map should be separate from the PvE Map. Make it have it’s own achievement and reward that is PvP appropriate.

I hate to reference WoW but they did it right on the cloth and leather departments. I think A.Net should look at what WoW did and do something similar.

As it currently stands the balance between gathering mats is completely off.

Secondly the amount of vials, venoms, dusts etc…. needed to craft insignia’s is retardly high imo.

One should be able to level a crafting profession concurrently with their character leveling. If you did not spend gold or spend time farming you would hit 80 and your crafting would be at 100 or less. That is wrong. The long grinds for mats/patterns etc…. should start at 400 for exotics and legendaries not while leveling the profession.

I believe this is something A.Net will need to address once major bugs/server issues are resolved. In the meantime good luck leveling a crafting profession to craft gear for you character while you level. It will not happen unless you spend lots of gold or spend hours farming mats.

Now that I think about it, didn’t some A.Net Dev specifically state during a Gamescon or something that crafting would be designed so a character could level it to obtain gear while leveling?

The whole point of the downed state abilities is to prolong the time it takes enemies to stomp you thus giving your allies more time to revive you. The Thief abilities are amazing for that.

Try to use them with the idea of how best to make it easier for your allies to revive you. For example on my Warrior a Thief buddy used his ability to teleport closer to me in WvW. The enemy followed and I was able to pounce on the enemy and knock him away then revive my Thief buddy.

Another tip try to sound a little less whiney and more mature in your complaint/request for help and maybe people will not flame you.

Also if you need more CC there is a trait for Warrior that applies a 1s Immobilize every time you apply a cripple. That is very helpful and I find that great for closing the gap. You can use Axe and Rifle to apply a ranged cripple when they run away and with the trait you have a much easier time getting on target in melee range.

Also you can trait 15 points in tactics I think to shave 5 secs off the weapon swap CD. I find this amazing for WvW for swapping weapons a lot from Rifle to Axes.
