Target dropping

Mojo Gris Gris.5941

I can definitely attest that this happens sometimes when rotating the camera and the target is out of view. It seems to me to happen more frequently at range longer than melee. I am familiar with the result of stealth/clicking, but it definitely occurs without either on camera rotation.

Edit: I first noticed this at least before LS1 ended, possibly longer ago.

Am I playing Guild Wars 2 wrong?

OP, maybe you should try another character class. Nothing wrong with guard (it’s actually my favorite), but different classes play differently and can be more/less fun depending on how you like to fight. Other than that, I think the best suggestion I’ve seen in these posts is to take advantage of the non-linear design of the game and explore all your options and available content. If you try it all and are still bored, then maybe you just don’t like the game.

That’s ok too.

“Trading
Rumors tell of a merchant interested in items from major events in Tyria’s recent history, including Blade Shards. Players are encouraged to hold on to these items if they are interested in trading with her when she appears.”

This. THIS. 1,000 times this!
I remember during the “Cutthroat Politics” release, there were tokens that dropped (can’t remember exactly which ones) that I destroyed just before the “election” ended. THE NEXT DAY a vendor price was added to the item that I had destroyed at least a stack and a half of. I have been burned with every item I’ve held onto since, and it makes me sick.

Because, DAT TOUCAN!

Seriously though, I’ve had it since the first festival mostly for the above reason. I love it on my engineer.

[Suggestion] salvage token/karma gear

Mojo Gris Gris.5941

100% agree. I can understand the desire to keep players from farming runes that come from the karma items, but if we ADD a rune to it, we should be able to get it back off. Extractors are flat out just too expensive for such a thing, if they even work.

It may be cold comfort, OP, but the armor/weapons that you “can’t do anything with” can probably be put in the mystic forge. You’ll at least get a random item instead of /destroy. Unless they are back items – those really kitten.

transmute for runes and stats gone?

Mojo Gris Gris.5941

I thought about this a couple days before the patch. It has always aggravated me that I couldn’t just salvage a rune off of certain equipment. An upgrade extractor is fine and dandy for something expensive with an expensive rune, but the extractor costs nearly as much as many of the runes, and why CAN’T I just destroy the karma/storydrop/backpiece item just to salvage the rune. If the answer involves a question of real world profit for ANet, that is kittening sad. If a change to allow it is in the works, that is kittening awesome. Worst part is, we may never get an answer.

Only 10 Daily Achivements?

I started typing a long and drawn out post, but it was too long and drawn out and I was only a third of the way through.

More options: good
Limit obtainable daily AP instead of choices: good idea
Attempted addition of PvPers by elimination of other options for daily AP: naughty
Elimination of static daily activity: why?
Addition of Orrian Killer daily: about kitten time

Maybe one day I’ll give exp dungeons another try (thanks for the bad experiences hardcore dungeon kittens), try fractals, and maybe, try PvP, but for now I don’t want to “play that way.” Please give the players more daily options for all 3 modes, even if that means a cap of 5-10 AP: please

I reported this as a bug in game last night. I went all the way through Urmaug first. I stopped just after getting out of water at Troll’s end. This is the second puzzle discoverer I know of where this has happened.

Twiista, I hope I’m not going to crush you when I say you will need to buy the recipes to craft the Celestial armor as well. There is no discovery for it afaik. All the time gated nonsense kittens me off to no end.

I just recently began to experiment with Celestial armor, and I made a full set all at once, but only after having a big stock of fused crystals sitting in the bank. Good luck, and try not to be too discouraged.

My request for achievements

This is a heckuva long thread, and I haven’t read all the posts. I hope I won’t be repeating something already said, but I’d like to vent my two cents worth.

I don’t give two kittens about the leaderboard. I DO care quite a lot about AP because I want the rewards. I love the Hellfire skins, and I got burned early by mistakenly grabbing Radiant. :‘( I sucked it up, and pushed on because I figured, eventually, I could make up the points with daily/monthly rewards. Now, I see the details on the cap for daily/monthly AP, and I am dismayed. I’m one of the “been here since beta” people so I have done many of the permanent bonuses. I am not a PvP fan, and I don’t anticipate going there for AP, and I grant that there are always achieves added for LS or holiday content, but being time-gated to accomplish them is pretty frustrating. Then, when the release is over… they are gone, never to be revisited.

I read another player’s post about a time machine to complete past LS achieves and content. That, to me, is a wonderful idea. One of my favorite aspects about GW1 was doing a part of the story and reading, “You are about to re-live events prior to your arrival to ______.” The game was pretty old by the time I discovered it, but I never felt like I missed anything because it was all there (except for things that were removed for reasons that had nothing to do with time).

I see a lot of players mention the feeling of “crunch time,” and with a lot of the LS, I had that feeling. I would LOVE to never have that feeling again playing GW2 (holiday finales notwithstanding). I hope that all that LS content can be revisited, but alas, there is no way of knowing. I kinda feel bad for the newer players who never even got a chance to experience the older LS content.

Bottom line is, as long as I can comfortably continue progressing toward AP rewards, albeit even slowly, I will be mostly happy. What I really hope for, is to be able to say, “Oh, new stuff. I’ll check it out when I’m done with x, y, and z because it isn’t going anywhere,” instead of, “Well, I guess I won’t get to check out the Secret of Southsun because I was having too much fun in WvW.”

That and a full set of Hellfire Armor.

Do You Enjoy Massive Zerg Content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mojo Gris Gris.5941

As the title implies, do you like open world zerging?

Somewhat. In a well populated MMO there is room for a bit of everything, and it is certainly good that there is some content that boils down to a zerg of people facesmashing auto attack. There are some players who really do not want anything more engaging than this; just a chance to gather up with some friends and smash something while relaxing. To that end I like the fact that this exists in game.

Or would you rather prefer instanced content?

While I am glad that there already exists quite a lot of ‘zerg content’ for those who want it, there is not really very much for people who would like to push the limits of what their character is capable of doing in a PvE setting. There are a few notoriously difficult dungeon bosses that allow this, but there absolutely should be more, and more difficult boss encounters.

World bosses such as Tequatl and the new Ancient Wurm provide players looking for more of a challenge something to do. However, the fact that these encounters are open world makes it a huge PITA just to run them. Typically involving camping an overflow instance for an excessive amount of time in order to make sure that those in your organized party are able to be together for this. Without the ability to force the creation of a private instance for commanders to bring their group into, this ends up being a logistical nightmare that requires more waiting around not doing anything than it does actually playing. I would love to see more challenging encounters, but before we get any more higher-coordination fights to enjoy we first need command and organizational tools to remove the necessity of cheesing the game mechanics in order to get a half-way workable solution to group needs.

Nailed it. Massive group battles can be extremely fun, but the biggest thing GW2 lacks for this is an easy way to coordinate. Only your party can see a called target. Only your party can see you drawing/pinging on the map. Every single solution I’ve tried for voice chat has interfered with sound in the game (as in my sound goes out except for a few effects). I loved the fact that they reworked Teq and other bosses, but I think Teq got too complicated, and not enough people really know what to do once there… Unless you happen to be using TS/mumble and on a server that is completely focused on these events.

If the bosses are going to be this huge, complicated, coordinated effort, it would be really nice to have better ways to focus the whole group. Maybe it would help to have more NPCs around shouting appropriate instructions to nearby players too.

As far as solo running, I saw another poster mention that everything should scale according to what is confronting it (paraphrasing). While I agree, to an extent, that the scaling definitely could be a lot better for small groups (and big ones too; sometimes there are too many champs that just take too long to kill), I definitely see how boss events should be impossible to solo (not champs, bosses). That said, I am on Darkhaven, and I don’t know that we ever beat Tequatl. I saw huge groups most times, but I don’t think I ever saw Teq at less than half health after the boss update. I gave up after Boss Week because I didn’t see many people there afterward.

Oh, that and the bloated creepers with a one-hit DOWN really suck. I hate one hit kills.

I’m in the same boat as other posters here. Release notes clearly say all recipes, but not all recipes were added. I want a cleric’s backpiece and don’t want to do fractals.
