184% since implementation. I got at least 14% just during Wintersday.
Like so many others, I have everything needed to make Mawdry then I found out I needed 5 Pristine Fractal Relics.
Oh well, moved all the completed materials into my bank progress ended.
That’s me exactly. The only piece I still need is the mists stone…
Ah, well. One day…
You’ve got it in one. Seven people complaining over and over again does not a stampede make. You named people who have posted dozens of times in this thread, while ignoring the drive bys that say I’m fine with it, or it’s not as bad as people say, or even I like it better.
I’m not going to do your work for you. Look at the thread and start putting marks next to people who complain about it multiple times such as yourself and people who don’t have a problem with it.
How about if I do the work for both of you?
I actually thought about what Vayne was saying here, and I wondered just what the numbers were. So I decided to go to page 1 and make a spreadsheet. Any opinion which was stated as overall negative got a ranking of “nay.” Any opinion overall positive got a “yay.” Any opinion which was modified to be better after their own OP also got a “yay.” Any opinion which was ambiguous, but seemed positive got a “yay.” Every poster got only one rank no matter how many posts they made. Any posts made regarding only the trait changes was ignored. Likewise, some posters which had no stated opinion were ignored. I purposely gave the “yay” crowd more leeway, and was more stringent on all of the “nay” votes.
It’s closer than you think.
Not even a little bit close.
The final number, as of now, is 47 Yays.
The final number of nays?
225… that’s 17% for / 83% against the NPE.
Oh, wait…here’s my input. Overall, I understand why Anet wanted to do something, but I think it went in a bad direction.
226-47
Granted, that is only this thread.
In the interest of providing constructive criticism and not derailing the thread completely, I offer the following suggestions:
-Remove the level gating of PS.
-Remove the dancing for cows/other bundle changes. Those things were much better before.
-Add more actual explanation of game mechanics that are “confusing for new players” instead of removing functioning content or level gating content or features. Actual tutorials or even a GW2opedia to reference in-game would be great.
-Fix the stat slump and give SPs earlier.
I did like what they did for dodging, but I feel it came too late. I also liked the rewards, even though some of it becomes useless as you level.
I will hold any trait comments/complaints until the new system is launched.
4600+ hours, 1 precursor (Howl from an electric fish in Bloodtide Coast); 0 from some random forging of drops.
I got the one around the time Scarlet started attacking everywhere (Clockwork Chaos).
I’ve played since betas.
I’ve read a lot, but not all of this thread, and I’ve done a couple dailies now, so here’s my feedback:
I love the rewards (daily login and individual dailies), but like many others, I’d like to see more options to go after. Hard cap the rewards to the total number of current dailies, if necessary, but more options in all categories would be preferable. You can also add me to the list of those asking for less specific options (i.e. Kill a world boss rather than kill fire ele; Gather in Kryta rather than Gather in Queensdale).
Overall, I like the change more than I expected to, and it’s certainly better than the original daily system, but I feel it is a small step back in terms of available choices. I also enjoyed the previous change that made the dailies feel like they just happened when I ran around doing my thing, rather than having to seek out a particular event or area.
At least, most of the rewards seem to be worth some of the hassle.
After more reading, and the passage of a lot more time, I’ve decided to return and update my opinion.
I love the login rewards. I’m pretty well enjoying the rewards for completing individual dailies. And, yes, I’ve been getting the dailies done relatively a lot more quickly since the new system came out.
But you know what? As many other players have said, though not exactly in these words, perhaps:
They are boring.
There were some old daily categories I always thought should have been toned down to be a bit quicker, but all in all, I enjoyed doing them under the last system because of the natural way they were completed. I usually didn’t have to go to any particular zone to complete them, or any particular mode. I went where I wanted to, and did my dailies while I had FUN!
Nearly every person who says this system is better and is posting the same arguments, time after time, in response to different players who do not like it, discount the complaint of the player who is just not enjoying this system.
I don’t want to just be handed rewards and AP. Anyone who states that, “it’s an achievement. You should have to work for it,” is being disingenuous, in that it takes zero effort to go view a vista or chuck four things into the forge. Likewise, the argument that Anet want to encourage other modes of play holds no real water either. As others have stated, those who actually decide to go into those modes they weren’t planning on playing run straight to the objective, get what they need and then leave. As if that helps my server in WvW, or any team dealing with “too many noobs who don’t know what they’re doing” in PvP. So automation is NOT what I crave.
I crave the same thing I’ve seen so many others complaining about.
I want my fun back.
Then ignore the dailies? They no longer give laurels or coins, you don’t really lose out. If the rewards don’t entice you to do the things you’re not already doing, fine, but then the system simply isn’t targeted at you.
The old dailies were replaced with the log-in rewards: you’re still free to play however you want to.
See that’s the problem. Some people, probably many, who ignore the dailies, log out. Without that old roadmap, they can’t, or haven’t or don’t want to make their own in game goals.
The dailies gave them a list of stuff to do, and that was fine for them. Right now, that list is less convenient. I get that. I really do.
The problem is that I have my own goals that require me to do stuff, so I get the dailies done fast and get on with doing my own goals. But it seems a lot of people play this game without goals. To them, doing the daily was the game.
I have my own goals too. The old system allowed me to work on those goals and the dailies at the same time. Now, I do what Vayne is saying. I go out of my way, to modes I don’t enjoy (I know you didn’t say you don’t enjoy certain modes, Vayne), just to get the dailies done quickly. But that isn’t fun. It’s too much like work (even though it doesn’t take much work). Then, when I’m done with the dailies, I have been less inclined to go work on some of the goals that I used to go after. Maybe it’s as someone else says, and the game is just lacking content. Maybe I’m just getting burned out. I can say this, though. The old system made it more enjoyable to work on some of the tasks that now seem to me like endless grind. I never got burned out doing them, and I was always making progress on another goal at the same time.
All of us who dislike the change have lost something that we had before. Something that can’t be quantified by how much time or effort an achievement takes to complete. I’m 100% certain that all of the arguments by those who prefer the current system won’t give that back.
Anet giveth, and Anet taketh away.
I bought the blueprints for a pack, after the end of the LS chapter, just to see how long it would take me to make a pack. It took me a couple months, give or take, to get it to ascended, and I chunked a lot of sprockets into the forge to make it happen. Get that sprocket generator and mine every mining node you see with the watchwork pick. I actively worked a lot at mining to farm the sprockets, so your mileage may vary. There is a very small chance for a hit of fifty blades from the forge, but I think I only got that twice out of all my forges.
I came looking for this to weigh in with pretty much the same opinion as the OP, but knowing that there are nodes on the TP, are these drops not bound at all? That isn’t as bad as I was originally thinking, but if they are bound….
then kitten, kitteny, kittenstuff.
I too want my little Asura girl to wear more feminine armor. I was kind of kittened when I got her to 80 and started looking at armor choices (she’s a guardian). Can someone please explain to me why without her armor, her non existent, non nippled breast is covered by that strange looking one-piece, but the pit fighter, gladiator, and barbaric armor seem downright scandalous?
Edit: I forgot scallywag armor. Two crossed leather straps. O.o

GW2 support is awesome. I have personal experience with support helping me after I made a stupid mistake. They may take some time to respond, but they do respond and try to help.
When you open a box to find another box.
When a dev thinks this is sad enough to make a joke about it, but it still happens.
(No offense, Brandon)

Roll up, roll up – additional storage available in the Gem Store!
^this.
So I should either spend RL money on gems, or lots of hard earned gold on gems, so I can buy more bank space to store trash?
Not really helpful.
No that is the reason there is so much junk. Anet wants us to buy storage.
Maybe that’s the reason, but it isn’t much incentive.

Click Gift -> Click Clothes Container -> Click Salvage Kit -> Click Clothes
4 Clicks for a pointless item !
And then there’s this^
While I found the meta easy enough to complete (did it all in a day), I do agree that they should have made the Wintersday dailies count towards the meta. It was a system that worked well; why change it now?
This, and I’m pretty surprised this thread didn’t get more replies. It was pretty nice to have festival dailies count towards the meta for other festivals.
Yeah, it’s great that they put more RNG in my RNG, so now I can RNG while I RNG right after I RNG!
Yes, I’ve seen it and reported both nodes.
I definitely agree that players should have a way to turn off Annoy-o-Tron’s dialogue, but I don’t agree that it should go under the regular dialogue or instrument sliders. There should be a checkbox that disables sound for backpacks and mini pets. I like the Evon Gnashblade mini, but put him away after a couple of hours of random “I was the chosen one!” outbursts.
The lack of new red posts here is my greatest fear…
Do we think the pail price will remain the same? I’m not sure what to do about my candy corn orders. I’d let the order ride if the prices will remain the same. Otherwise I’ll just cancel them tonight. The pail went down this year, is that true? Or did the conversion rate for corn to cobs change?
I checked the wiki history pages for prices of the Mini Prince Thorn and Halloween Pails, and the price definitely went way down for the event. Before the Halloween release, Mini Prince was 20 cobs, and the pail was 15. Currently, they sit at 6 and 3, respectively. Will they revert? Only ANet knows for sure.
Edit: Conversion rate for candy corn to cobs has remained the same, throughout.
IIRC, Sonder sold the pails and Mini Prince for more than the current vendor, before the festival. Just fyi. I expect the prices for anything new added to Sonder’s stock to cost more after the festival ends.
The dev team is keenly aware that there are Halloween items available only during a specific period (through November 4) and therefore they intend to do their darnedest to offer the new options in the next few days but certainly in advance of November 4th if humanly possible. (I have confidence this will happen.)
Just a suggestion:
as an olive branch, perhaps your team might consider extending all the sales of Halloween items by the number of days the redesigned UI impacted the players’ ability to buy gems in custom amounts?
I love this mini game as well. Great tips, but I want to know more about that shotgun…
Anyone saying “This game isn’t fair,” is correct, and it isn’t supposed to be! It’s the Mad King’s rules. Love it or leave it, but give it a shot!
ONE OF USSSSSS!
She’s the public face of what looks like an attempt to swindle folks out of cash. Not an enviable position.
Where do people come up with all this kitten?
Tbh, Krall, I think you emphasized the wrong part. Since the lowest increment is 400, and last night that meant over 75g to buy ANY gems with in-game money, how can you say it’s nonsense to believe that this would motivate someone to just pay cash for gems now, rather than save up gold? Remember, this is supposedly to make it simpler for new players. New players hardly have any gold.
With all due respect to Gaile, I really appreciated seeing her name come out after the Sept. patch fiasco. I thought that it meant a lot that Anet cared enough to put one of their most beloved representatives out there to smooth things over. However, after seeing bad idea, after bad idea implemented and excused by “metrics” and “simplification for new players,” I am thoroughly disgusted, and my cynical side says that she was brought to the table simply to pacify us. I hate seeing players screaming ragequit/digustquit, but I must admit, I am really getting soured by these experiences with changes that are uncalled for at best, and manipulating at worst.
With all respect for the devs, I know they put a lot of time and effort into these changes, but I completely disagree with so many of the directions they have been instructed to go.
Better yet would be to add the old page, and add one ‘a lot asked for feature’, wich is insert gems you want (like 700 for outfit), and it calculates the gold you need to pay. (basically both boxes that where on top of the old tp, you can insert values now, and when you type something, it calculates the other box.
Bingo. +1 million.
I haven’t read everything here, but I came to the forums today looking for exactly this subject. Since there are 22 pages of comments in less than a day, I skipped to commenting. It’s a horrible change to force your players to buy in increments, period. If I want to buy ONE gem at a time, I should be able to. If you guys wanted to redesign the UI, that’s one thing, but this change forcing a minimum amount just smells like a dead fish. If suggestions are what you want, I suggest you at least implement the old functionality in a newer UI. Having an actual estimated exchange rate per gem would be helpful too. To paraphrase an earlier commenter, these blatant changes to force your players to do what they don’t want to do will bring out the worst in your players. I always hate to see people ranting and going overboard on the forums, but kittening kitten, Anet… What do you take us for?
I had 2 molten picks when the watchwork came out. Why even use those now?
This still doesn’t address the issue of watchwork pick > molten pick/bone pick. Why would I want to buy an item from the gem store, if I know Anet are completely fine with making a superior version of it later on, leaving me out of pocket for something inferior?
This has always been my biggest issue with the watchwork pick. I am out of pocket for a couple other picks now.
Mine is remembered also, but now I have to click the button to log in. Autoplay is now kind of useless though.
I have been thinking, for the last few days, that these 2 coming events are the reason ANet took a break on LS2 at the time they took it. They do love those two holidays, and with a broken down LA, there’s sure to be lots of work in preparation.
Yes, please this. Personally, I would like for party and guild channels to stop disappearing from chat window, as well.
The number of files should include the patches as well, afaik.
Add my thanks as well. Great choice, Anet!
300g per color seems completely reasonable. An item like this should be expensive, otherwise every joker ends up with it.
…and 300g is a drop in a the bucket for large WvW guilds. I have more than 300g in my account now, and I’m in a tiny RP guild. It’s really not much if you prioritize it, it’s only an obscene pay-wall if it wasn’t that important to you in the first place (which means you shouldn’t have it).
My point is this:
Change the thoeretical initial cost to 500 or even 1000. The ability to change color for the purpose of coordination should not be subject to purchasing different colors. To get all colors, one must spend an estimated 1500g (I say estimated because I have seen no confirmation of the number of colors available). You may have 300g in your wallet, but I have never had that much at one time. The bottom line is, I feel, the way it’s structured is a tone-deaf money grab.
Of course, we can agree to disagree.
Vanive, check this link for a listing of all possible daily rewards. Scroll wayyyyy down.
Chiming in with my opinion.
300g for an account bound tag is totally reasonable. 300g per color is totally ridiculous.
Lame, lame, lame, lame, LAME.
Great change to make it account bound. Fine to increase the price to 300g because of the change.
But another 300g JUST FOR A DIFFERENT COLOR? Come on, man!
Some decisions Anet makes are understandable, but I don’t think I will ever understand how they can be so helpful in some aspects, and yet so completely tone deaf on others. Colors should be able to be changed on the fly ESPECIALLY if someone bought multiple tags previously, and SPECIFICALLY for situations where there are multiple commanders on the map.
No hellfire boots? I’m disappointed.
Those are unlocked at 21k AP, Esplen.
Count me as regretting my initial choice of Radiant gloves and shoulders. I was way disappointed when I equipped them and the shiny glow started annoying me. When I got to helm unlock, I chose hellfire and love it. Got the gloves now, and I’m at just under 13.5k AP…
+1 especially for any area that prevents you from rallying because your party is in combat.
Those Ascended materials exist for the purpose of taking money out of the game economy via refinement. As such, attaching a sell price to them, no matter how pathetically small, is going against their intended goal.
I understand that. I just don’t like it. It seems like such a waste, especially with all the junk drops out there.
It’s my opinion that ALL account bound/soulbound items should be sellable to vendors, even if it’s for a measly 3 or 4 copper each. Destroying loot should never be your only option.
There is a Vigil event in Bloodtide Coast. After the Claw Island story (trying not to be too spoilerish), there is an event that will spawn in the water, in the far south. I wondered about these events elsewhere. I’ll have to check them out with my other order characters.
I personally like how accessible everything is in it’s current state. I’m fine as is, or perhaps improve upon it.
Everything except the kitten Guild Bank. Can we get one closer to a bank and wp?
Pretty please with an omnomberry on top!
I can’t say I would be happy about having to pay 200 gems per episode to replay past content. If you “unlocked” it by playing it originally, you shouldn’t have to pay for another go round. I do think they will attempt to put as much as they can of LS1 back as repeatable content, though kitten if I know how best to do it.
I was just thinking the other night about how much I miss dye drops…
:’(
I’d like to be able to get Assassin’s trinkets among other combos, but I don’t care whether that happens through crafting or not. TBH, leveling the other disciplines to 500 (still working on Tailor and Leatherworking) has been a kitten enough, but I suppose one more wouldn’t kill me.
All semantics and improper usage aside, I have 2 words for why this particular WP being unavailable kittens:
Guild Bank
Automated changes
Daily
00:00 UTC (19:00 UTC-5) — Resets daily achievements; certain objects respawn: chests (e.g. from Jumping Puzzles, except for those in World versus World), and event-related interactive objects (Carving Pumpkin, Magic Snow).
This excerpt from the wiki is the way I have always experienced chest behavior. There have been many times that I have done the Lion’s Arch JPs twice within 12 hours. I have never, that I recall, tried it within 6 hours of each attempt though, so I’m not trying to call anyone a liar. Those WvW JP chests definitely are on a true (or very close) 24hr timer.
I like the concept, and I would even be for using the MF to combine the ascended wep with wine/crystals/stones and/or other MF items to craft a precursor. None of that wipes out the need to do exploration/dungeon farming etc. to eventually craft the legendary.
If you are following a good commander in WvW (and yes, they do exist), don’t salute, take the time to send them a brief thank you, telling them what you enjoyed. Don’t spend overly long time with them, unless they’ve already tagged down. Trust me, as volunteers trying to help other players and their server, they are busy when tagged, and most appreciate thanks and positive comments.
…and mail them siege or gold to buy siege. They need and appreciate it.
Happens consistently to me also, and there’s no way I know of to stop it.
