I had absolutely no idea how or what to bring to fight in that moose form, so I do apologize if it was very noobish, but was nice to take some time out and have some fun with the other side.

At no stage was I attacked, so big /salute, /bow and /cheer from this Yak, you have my respect.

Asurans are the master race Sadly, my ranger was my first char and a human before I discovered Asurans and all my other chars are now asurans. Pain Inverter is so good :P Using it on my mesmer and works great, but Xsorus has opened my eyes to using it on other classes xD

Just to show how cool this match up is: What other match up has a 1k difference between all the servers halfway through the match up?

There is a lot of amazing tactics going on by all sides, and each server is showing lots of tenacity and effort. I love that close matches will bring out all the players who we usually wouldn’t see because each server has a chance at winning this.

I honestly wouldn’t mind whoever wins this match. Lets just make it a good fight!

Thought I’d get the ball rolling on our 2nd discussion about this match-up. Let’s keep it clean and try to not get locked this time. I think all three servers deserve that much respect at least.

Not in my opinion, Dragonbrand are the biggest cheating server I and others have come across, and that includes Gates of Madness with their initial population, and Maguuma are only too willing to follow suit. For instance when they took advantage of WvW going out yesterday and speed took most of YBBL using a variety of cheats. Then of course Dragonbrand came on and we had instances of wall jumping etc. Yes some were reported but as per usual I doubt anet will actually do anything. I hope Dragonbrand wins by a huge margin moves up and we never have to see you again.

What a pity such a matchup has to occur across christmas. I know some people at least are refusing to play for the rest of the matchup because of the cheating.

I would like to clarify what happened that day just because I do not want all the work that was done that day just be passed off as “they took our whole borderlands, must be hacks” arguement. I was present before and after WvW crashed that day and I know exactly where and how the movement went on. I do not wish to insult any server, I just want to present the facts of what happened.

Right before reset, our commander dropped 10-13 golems, and we were gearing up to mesmer portal chain around the map and smash the keeps and towers. Right when we said we were moving out, the WvW server crashes, (For some reason every time we want to make a huge golem rush, the server crashes -_- Its happened 3-4 times for us already) and everyone desperately relogs back on and is asking on mumble if the golems are still there. Finding out the golems are all gone, the commanders, one of them my guildmate, was very agitated so we decided we would just bust everything down with rams. Dropped 3/4 rams per door, dropped by 2-3 supply camps before attacking the next keep/tower. Looted every tower/keep we took for supply and simply hit the next target.

Now for the glitching accusation, if you’re talking about when several players glitched through the NW tower door, we were all surprised but it was caused by any player who used ANY form of leap skill targeted at the door. Heartseeker, Leap, Leap of Feath, Illusionary Leap, etc. Anyone who glitched through the door were surprised and reported it on mumble, but were told to JUST JUMP OUT of the tower and continue like normal. Eventually those who were inside after they got glitched through again were told SIMPLY DPS THE DOOR and not attack anything inside until the door broke. This glitch was reported by one of the commanders already.

Quite simply, we were just surprised at the lack of a response from Yak’s. The server reset is a BIG factor for what happened, but everyone in mumble was too annoyed that we lost 13-15 golems and all bum rushed Yak’s BL as a whole to make the sting of losing all of our golems worthwhile. Lots of us said the spirit of our dead golems is helping us. I simply do not want the amount of siege and money that my guild member dropped that day be written off as “hacking.”

Aside from that, the match up so far has been very interesting and I am enjoying it. I think maguumans have been focusing Yaks a little too much considering they’ve been first place consistently so many of us felt Yak’s was the bigger threat. However, Dragonbrand’s night/morning presence begs to differ. Dragonbrand and Yak’s Bend both have some very solid players and leaders, and I hate for ANY server’s name to be tarnished by the actions of a few who do not wish to play this game legitly. If you find any hackers or glitchers, simply screenshot and report. All of our servers would gladly report a hacker from our own servers if we found them. Just give us info on guild tags and etc.

Now please, for the sake of Christmas/Winstersday spirit, keep this thread nice and clean so we don’t get it shut down twice in a week. I believe this match up deserves to have lots of good memories.

once you find the real mesmer ctrl + t and you’ll always know which is real and which is clone, the target will stay on the real one.

You can drop the targeting with stealth moves from mesmer as well. Decoy/Veil/Mass Invis/Prestige

Also. I have seen a 20+ man mesmer zerg. The amount of mesmers fielded for that push was 22-25 mesmers.That was entertaining.

Yak’s being in last does surprise me atm, but we still have a long week ahead of us. But can we at least appreciate the fact that the score is still incredibly close, and we still have the week ahead of us. I personally love close matches, win or lose, because its fun. One of my favorite matches was DH/Mag/DB quite a few weeks back. This match up now reminds me of it so I plan to enjoy it. Its glad to see DB is alive and kicking in this tier, defying a lot of the expectations of our players when we some of us logged in this morning to see DB > Mag > Yak.

These next few days will be rocky due to Christmas rolling around, but come the end of the week, I expect plenty of good battles to be had. Wishing good luck for each server!

And if you’re talking about that massive amount of golems you guys made in Mag BL, you guys had us paranoid for the next couple hours

I believe in its 600ish range its max of 5 aoe heal would be rare to find yourself capping unless you have clones out next to you. In that case I believe it prioritizes players then who ever is closer. I haven’t tested it so might want to check it out.

An interesting note if you’re trying to make a mantra heal is that if you charge a mantra, at the end of the charge you can use blink to position yourself next to your allies in time for the heal effect.

I haven’t been able to test as I only access to Internet on my phone, but when I tried with my transfers with SoI the boon time remaining was also transfered. Now what I’m wondering is if it stacks on top of my allies boons, or does it completely overwrite their boons

For leveling you’re gonna want to tag as many mobs as possible to get more experience. I highly suggest staff as it has bouncing attacks and our aoe as mesmers is pretty lack luster. Also, get used to using shatters to finish nearly dead enemies as your clones/phantasm will die when your target dies. Mind wrack is also good for the aoe learn to kite early and use phase retreat to avoid dying and for your second weapon its up to you. Sword pistol is fun, and loading up several pistol phantasm will help you deal with a big boss.

Tbh, and mesmer is a hard class to get off the ground, but you’ll feel more like a true mesmer once you hit 40s once you can have access to master traits :P we’d don’t have simple damage output like warriors and thieves, but instead need to trait and gear and do bigger combos to do the same. Our strength is on our utilities, tricks, in fight mobility and our huuuuuge team fight skills.

Hey Osi! It’s been a while since I’ve started running the shattered cat build and just knew that I had to come see your reaction to the buffs the shatter cat build just got. I knew you had to be happy as I was ecstatic about it on team chat cheering happy mesmer buff day on the 14th.

Now what I’m wondering is now we have a bit more power, can we swap say another piece or two of berserker for Knights or valk? Same damage output as before with our new might stacks but more survivability?

The healing part is tied to the charging of the mantra only. Harmonious Mantras does not help in how much you can heal others but spamming mantra of pain has the highest healing output for others considering it has such a low cool down for its charge portion.

If you’re looking for a server on the US that could use some EU love, check out the Tier 3-5 servers. Tier three usually needs more coverage, because if you don’t, you won’t live through the night. I’m currently sitting in a tier 4 server and enjoying it

In my opinion, the commander’s tag is nice, but a commander tag doesn’t always mean you’re a good leader. If you have multiple leaders in your group and you know they’re good, people will begin to follow you regardless of a commander icon or not Tatania’s point is also something you want to keep in mind. If you have enough commanders on your server just keep saving up and see what arenanet does in the “big February WvW revamp” Hopefully, the commander icon will become more useful and you can do more things with it than currently.

What if there was a support siege site, like a moveable platform that you can place siege on TOP of and it would be able to move, maybe at the same speed of a golem. Could be used to make moveable siege, notably a treb on a wall could be moved to reposition. I would say make it the same supply requirement as a golem so people don’t make as many just so golem becomes over shadowed by moving rams/catapults.

Siege Platform – 100 Supply. Move speed similar to a golem, but not able to take portals. Imagine 10 superior arrow carts popping up out of a portal.

Hi guys….EOH reporting in here. We’re on Maguuma and are working on getting people moved over from AR. We’re also expecting another guild from DR to be joining this weekend for the rematch.

I’d just like to say that, after reading this thread I see a lot of the same problems exist in this bracket as everywhere else (exploit use). Tbh you guys have far less of it going on because most of this community shuns out people that employ the use of them pretty immediately (with proof of course).

Anyways, this is EOH’s permanent home, so I hope we can all work together in the near future. A few of yous have seen a couple of us over the last couple of days.

I believe this is still fair. Defenders should always have an advantage. If they can be AoE’ed and destroyed so easily, then defenders will have a much much harder time holding their own stuff. I main my mesmer so I can pretty much never hit anything on the walls after the line of sight nerf to the phantasms. I still think its fair for the defender.

Some people love them. Some people hate them. Some do them just to get the siege and badges and couldn’t care less. And I’m sure we all can complain about campers.

What I want to know is some of your most memorable experiences in the jump puzzles. Just thought this would be a nice change of topic people can discuss.

I’ll start off with something that happened to me today. I was in the jump puzzle and had to get past a couple of camping Yak’s Bend players and noticed an Ehmry player was having the same problem. We somehow had a mutual agreement the Yaks had to die so we teamed up on them and /bowed and /saluted each other later. But then randomly, a Yak’s player came up to us and dropped a couple siege blueprints at our feet, cheered, and left. Interesting day in the jump puzzle.

That keep lord was at like 1/4 health haha. Nice response time

We didn’t really do anything in WvW, but when we switched to Maguuma we’ve been having a blast and started learning how to WvW. We’ll be very glad to have you guys. One thing to keep in mind is the whole server uses mumble so it might be a good thing if you and the guildies download mumble Ask anyone in the mag team chat and they’ll give you the info

Going to try and make as much of a non-biased opinion as I can

In my opinion, I really like how tier 4 is sitting right now. If you’re looking to join up any of the servers in this tier, I’m sure you’d have a lot of fun on any of the three. In a non-biased opinion, as it seems maguuma and ehmry have some kind of bad blood going on that I wasn’t there for the start of. The forums is a different battlefield than the borderlands so if you can look past the chest thumping and whining from all the servers, yes all of us have our share of whiners and trolls, this match up looks to be pretty interesting.

In regards to communication, as a Mag I can tell you we have an open public mumble for everyone to use so that we can communicate much more efficiently. The mumble is split into red/blue/green borderlands and eternal so you communicate with only the people in your current borderlands. I don’t know about the other servers, but what ever they use, they have some pretty fast response times. At least the more organized guilds do. Some examples I’ve seen this from are Shadow Moon from Ehmry or KH from Crystal Desert and many others. As for Yak’s sorry guys, I’ve never fought you guys before so I don’t know your guilds yet but throughout this week I’m sure I’ll find out.

As for defending things we upgrade and capture, I think all servers have been doing a pretty good job at this, especially in home borderlands. This weekend, I believe that the main fight has switched to eternal battlegrounds as attempts at other borderlands get shut down after a supply camp or tower. I have seen large yak escorts and sieged up supply camps when any of the servers need to upgrade anything. Any of these servers I think would be fine for you if you enjoy a good fight.

Now being baised as a Mag, I can say we love a good fight, win or lose. We have lots of experience being on the defensive, as we have grown custom to being outmanned. Holding Anzalias for three hours with all the walls and doors was pretty entertaining vs a full zerg. Ehmry has been putting up a great fight as well this week, which is surprising when we’ve grown used to seeing Ehmry’s big openers on Friday night, then participation goes down during the week. I think we all want this win this week don’t we haha. Its so nice to have room without Crystal Desert’s breathing down on us, no offense to Crystal. That oceanic presence is quite a beast.

Yak’s Bend is a little closer to Tier 3 so if you want to pop into Tier 3 every once in a while, that might be your place. Maguumans are eternally Tier 4 so we won’t be moving for a while. Looks like Ehmry is going to be our buddies here so I get to still use the nickname Ebay for them. Its too amazing to pass up. All in all, best way to find out is to hop on one of our servers and give it a try.

Yes, KH was on top of things – until we all got tired, went to mendons with golems, sat in oil and then sat in cannon range. We were all literally just sitting there, too tired to function and didn’t even know what was going on.

In my opinion, if you’re going to try ele, don’t waste your other attunements either. Elementalists give up a second weapon set for their 4 elements that they can use If you only use fire, you’ll end up using only 1/4th of your skills

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to figure out a staff that I can transmute on top of my current Rampager Pearl Staff. What’s everyone’s opinion on which are the better looking staffs? I like the dungeon staffs but I am also a big fan of particle effects. Any ideas?

I’d have to say mesmer. I main my mesmer and I’m constantly frustrated at how I can’t AoE the top of walls at all. Only way to do it is by Staff #5, GS #3, or by using Feedback. That being said, I love what I can do to an isolated target

I personally would love pistol MH too. I would switch building for Quip instead of Bolt just for the troll factor.

Managed to down a warrior but then I got downed myself after he used his vengeance downed skill. I managed to stall enough with the downed decoy but when he got to me to stomp me, as he was in the air and about to smash my face in, he died and I rallied.

I wonder how many bags the burning oil user got. I’d imagine for him it was raining badges xD

I was one of the six golems that went in. I remember you looked pretty surprised when we broke in the front door like the Kool-Aid man going “Oh yeah!” It was a good fight, you guys held on tooth & nail all evening. We originally planned to keep the pugs up north on trebs & rush south with the golems, but then the pugs moved south for whatever reason after the trebs snapped & we moved the golems North. It was honestly very close when our golems broke down on inner door at 25% we desperately built a pair of catapults and barely got in. Good fights all around though.

Haha, thanks for the update on what happened. And yes, I was very surprised as the Kool-Aid crew brought the punch right through the door, all of the pun intended.

I told myself I was going to set up superior balistas in the lord room down the hall way if the outer ever broke, but my internet cut Good fights though guys!

To the CD force that attacked east keep on your borderlands, and nice move on the feint first to the southern wall for the golems to hit north. One of our members spotted the golems, but lost track of them. I had a heart attack when I noticed orange swords and ran and found a gate at 1%. I was the NOVA asuran mesmer that got steam rolled when the gate broke while I made a last ditch attempt to time warp repair.

I wish I could see the battle through but I had to leave. Good luck to both forces! I had a great time trying to figure out how you guys would respond to the defenses

traited into the +50% endurance regen +protection for 2 seconds after dodge roll/singet active
with lightning reflexes/singet of protection/
running the double sigil of energy

I found a rune that works btw. Its the one that when you use a healing skill you regain half your energy. I forget which one it is but I’ve always wanted to try! Shenanigans ftw

Edit: Its superior rune of the adventurer. 50% energy refill on healing skill 10cd. If you combo with mantra of recovery or mirror you could easily toss a heal or two in between all your weapon swaps

I’m working on bolt as well haha. I’m quite looking forward to seeing iLeap or Blink with Bolt. I hope it leaves a trail of lightning when you flash across

Shame we dont have main hand pistol. I would love to annoy the hell out of people with massive clones of me with Quip.

To the CD invaders who pretty much finished wiping Maguuma borderlands by taking NE tower : Who ever chased the mesmer (me) off the cliff to the small ledge and three fell to their deaths next to me, then the one who survived but i pulled off with focus and the warrior who I killed and he proceeded to use vengance to drop off the cliff (?)

Got frustrated enough with Crucible of Eternity runs today. I dont know if you guys were trolling, but you guys made my night For this I thank you. I am by no means trying to bash anyone but I was sincerely crying from laughter

I would say that it’s an unsatisfying part of mesmer – the abundant reliance on clones. I wish the profession was able to cast its spells independently. More aoe, more flashy damage spells as an alternative to spamming shatter.

Sometimes I wish this too but honestly you still can be highly effective without high clone generation. Glamor spells are truly very powerful, and and all of our elites are very useful. But in any case I don’t mind not have really flashy spells I think mesmer are more about mind games instead of being flashy

Also, just wondering have you tried switching Knight/Valk pieces for Rampager? It seems like it could be interesting.

Thank you Osicat! I’ve been trying to figure out how to work a glass cannon mesmer as I know mesmers are so evasive they don’t need as much survivability. This has been the kind of build I’ve been looking for as I usually run in small 4/5 man roaming squads and we look for small encounters. Thankfully in my usual party we have a second mesmer who’s tankier with daze/stun build and time warp, so i can freely use mass invis.

But I’m almost done with my gear and each piece of armor I gained showed in my dps, and when I got my runes, I won a 1v3. Quite honestly the thing i love most about this build is illuionary persona utility when i dont have clones, especially f4 ability. Saved me so many times, especially in dungeons. Many cheers, and I hope to see more of your videos!

Its coming to the end of the week and CD has held a solid lead the entire match up. I’ve noticed Maguuma and Darkhaven both seem to fall off during event weeks, so I expected the match wasn’t as close as it could have been because of Lost Shores. So if we ever get matched up again, I’d love to have a rematch on a non-event week

Aside from that, my guild [NOVA] really enjoyed fighting CD on their own borderland late last night holding off supply camps and taking SW tower while handling CD in the front, and DH in the back. Really enjoyed taking west keep after sieging it for so long Also later on when we made our last stand in SW tower, we didn’t notice the catapult in the tunnel until too late. Well played guys!
