Its using the same tech that dungeons use and isnt working properly.

It is currently bugged. Check the Dev posts and they have now said its to do with the same tech used in dungeons being, well, borked, and not working properly.

We would really like some answers on this. Is the diminishing returns system functioning properly in regards to Dynamic Events?

A lot of people are getting really low rewards for participation at gold medal level, yet have in no way been farming the same event, whereas others are farming them, yet are not hitting these diminishing returns. What is going on?

Would be nice to actually get a response on this.

I got hit by this DR last night. To say I was surprised is an understatement. I was earning 6 copper at the time I logged off in disgust. No idea why I got hit with it as I wasnt farming events, and was just exploring the zone I was in and did the events while running about the zone.

What happened to me really happened! I didn’t dream it! I got double digits karma and xp and 6 copper…..

This was after doing events while exploring Blazeridge Steppes. That shouldnt be happening! I wasnt repeating the same DE’s either, in all cases only doing each DE once! How is this fair?!? I’m being penalised for playing normally :/

Exactly. I quoted the post from the dev about it and asked for one of them to pop in the DE sub-forum and comment on DE’s but yet to see a single dev post in the DE sub-forum :S

I find it funny that Arenanet has the opposite stance that Blizzard has with their dungeons. A very small percentage of the population were doing raids in Vanilla, and as such designing dungeons for such a small amount of the player base was not cost effective. They then made raids easier to manage, and more enjoyable for the following expansions, allowing a far larger percentage of the player base to access them.

Arenanet should really look at what they’re doing, because at present, hardly anyone will run these dungeons. What this means in the long term is that people will get disillusioned into doing them, thinking they will be a massive time and money sink, yet get nothing from doing them.

And in the end, what’s the point of making dungeons that no-one will run?

Hey folks,

I figured it was already posted on this thread, but in the case that it is not posted and/or lost in the threadnaught, I am going to reiterate something that seemed to surprise people in another thread.

The “diminished returns anti-speed clear tech” that went in last patch is NOT functioning as intended. It is currently bugged. We’re working on it, and will have a solution as soon as possible.

Could you please please please make a post in the Dynamic Events sub folder about whether the diminishing returns on DE’s are also working properly? A lot of people (myself included) have been hit by it while simply exploring the zone they were in at the time.

I have a hard time imagining that this is intended. Please put peoples minds at ease here!!

I’m quite disgusted that Arenanet hasnt commented on this issue, and yet has with the dungeon problem.

Saying that they havent commented on the DR on drops either, so I shouldnt hold my breath.

I got hit by this DR last night, and it royally screwed up my play time so much I got disgusted and logged off. If this isn’t fixed I think you’ve lost a customer, and I will be making sure I tell people about this system.

I think the best solution is to introduce diminishing returns if you do the same event more than 2-3 times per hours, and the diminishing returns is only on that event.

Low level folks will pretty much never get hit by this because you get more exp exploring and doing other events and hearts and POIs and vistas, and high level folks will only get hit by it if they are grinding the same event over and over. if they move about, then come back, its not a problem.

So how long do I have to wait before I can actually get normal rewards from DE’s? I’ve waited a lot longer than 20 mins not doing anything and still got the same reward. This cant be right, surely?!?

If this is a permanent change, and it stays as it is, then people will only be able to do one or 2 chain DE’s max before they have to log off or go do something else entirely.

That will make a lot of people unhappy enough to complain and stop playing. If this hits the headlines then Anet will lose out in the long run, because less people will buy the game.

When you click on the sword now, nothing happens other than the magical fire effect. No enemies spawn, and it says I have killed 3/3 enemies, yet none have even appeared

This is on Desolation server.
