So ANet’s main problem with its curent WvWvW system is Server Population and the outnumbered “buff”. Some servers never see downtime (those currently at the top of the ranking system) while others have a “prime time” lasting all of 2-3 hours of the day (those in the mid/low ranking).
So really the current top realms are only on top because of their population not because of any skill/effort put into obtaining that position. I would highly recommend either combining low/med population realms together. And consider changing the “rank” system to a “population system”
Another fix would be to get rid of the joke of a “buff” you currently have, and replace it with an outmanned buff that actually is worth a kitten Magic find, Experience and Karma are worthless in WvWvW. Replace it with stat boosts like increased dmg/ decreased dmg taken, etc. This way when one side of 15 defenders is up against 50-60 attackers it isn’t a waste of time defending kitten.
Who told you system suppose to encourage skill? It encourages hard working people and people who play’s more often or can field more man in field. Try to encourage your server to participate in WvW more often and do not give up easily after few deaths. Major problem in system is server transfers and WvW being money sink with not enough rewards to attract people to WvW. Do not blure your mind with anything else.

All the people saying they have plenty of badges are either
a) Running in a zerg and have the luxury and time to collect the bags of loot.
b) Playing a class that easily hits and damages multiple players with little risk to themselvesFor the rest of us, regardless of skill or playstyle, the drop rate is too low or the system needs to be revised allowing acquisition of the badges without needing to press “f”.
Pretty much every class has fair amount of AoE if you think your class doesn’t or your class is more on the defensive side there is always arrow carts. Considering in almost every match up forum all servers complain about their team not defending enough I think you should think about that. I am a thief I have 750 badges deposited in my bank and I probably spent around 5k badges on siege so far. I am a commander so I really dont have the luxary of going back and grabbing loot bags but I spam F key well on the move. Problem is not about badge drop rate problem is the reward system. I have been to JP twice and deffinetly think all JPs should be world-pvp areas with no relation to WvWvW maps and points and it should not reward badges or siege. You should be rewarded with badges when you defend/capture objectives beside killing players. Drop rate of badges should be fixed to a flat rate instead of random and loot bags should be removed unless your inventory is full.
OK I can not share the tactics or strategies of my Server but I will give you some guidelines. First of all Big zergs never always work. Larger groups are harder to move together. First thing you should learn is to how to manage your man power. There are so many situations in game few players can hold large group of enemies. Think and use those situations to keep enemy locked in certain positions. And most important is make sure your players are doing the right things.
Ex: In EB lets say your team has SM and enemy has the valley keep with way point upgrade and they are attacking you from Valley keep side but they dont have any siege. A lot of players in your team are fighting between SM and Valley keep killing players which will spawn and come back in 10 seconds. Maybe they even push them and start to attack durios tower which enemy controls. Still you waste so many man power on enemies who will just respawn which could have been used in something more important. Let the Siege do the job for you not the players. Players are not just soldiers they are workers before everything else.

I think main problem about WvW is the transfers and people who are not loyal to their server. On those terms many players who get killed my large group of enemies again and again just gets frustrated and leave WvW so server starts to lose harder and then they leave the server for a winning server.
Most of our enemies believe Devona had great transfers from other servers and that’s why we win. Which is not the actual reason behind devona’s rising. It is because we worked hard, we train our people, we show them how to defend how to attack and explain in every situation what do they need to do. We are really serious about winning but we do not forget the main reason why we are playing, to have fun. We are tring to make the WvW fun for everybody so they will come back for more. We don’t let any negative attitude which will effect morale of our players in map chat. We have experienced commanders who are not just there to lead their guild or a small group they lead everybody in map. We have a really respectful player base who fight everyday and know each other. And major characteristic of Devona is we do not give up. We will go and die billion times but we will accomplish the mission. We fought with outnumbered buff several times and we had a bigger group when we faced enemy because we know when to group up when to split up. I have seen so many times Ferguson’s Kaineng and now SF and HoD they come with a big zerg they continue until they get wiped and then poof nobody comes back.
I already said too much I am not here to give our strategies and tactics but what we do is beyond knowing how to fight or how to place siege. We think about morale and how we can bring more people to field and we train them with right habbits.
Bad sides:
We are getting some more players due to the fact we are on a winning streak. We welcome everybody to Devona but some people are joining us just because it is a winning server and they will leave Devona when things get hard in upper Tiers. That’s why we ask every new guild the reason why they transfered to us. We respect everybody willing to only fight for Devona and stay here forever.We got used to winning and we have been getting ready for tier 7 for a long time and now we got a free pass to tier 6 which might cause us to drop the ball. We didn’t fought at EB almost at all because there is no threat which means we didn’t practice for next week.

I just hope we will have the same ambition when we move up to 6th Tier because NSP looks like a worthy opponent for us.

Loyalty and being persistent is the reason we have numbers in WvW. We don’t give up. Many people wanna trash talk devona tring to find an excuse saying “oh its just numbers” . We have good players on pvp and bad players as every single server but there is a fact we have hard working people willing to win. To all those from SF and HoD talking kitten about Devona I am saying this not to hurt you or anything I am saying it because it’s a fact Kain and Fergusons had way better players then you guys and I honestly think they deserve to be in this tier.
I am sorry we have more dedicated players than you guys have and I am sorry about the broken match making system and free server transfers. Devona belongs to 3rd-5th tier bracket imo but due to the broken server ranking system we have to be in tier 6 and dominate at all times. We are tring to make it to tier 6 this week but seems like we gonna miss around 5k-10k rating at the end of the week unless GoM fails harder this week because devona is already doing max points.

Player placed siege weapons have a 30 minute timer that remove the siege from the game, when the timer expires. Players using the siege causes the timer to restart.
Outnumbbered Buff and Play Limit Per Map:
What are the ratio’s to get outnumbered buff? and What are the maximum amount of players can be in single map from each server? And is it different in EB and other BLs?
Golem-Trebuchet Disappearing at Server Restarts/Patches
Habbib stated that next patch golems will be unmanned and stay at location where player got disconnected which is great news but how about trebuchets?
WvW Tutorials (In-Game)
I believe in game Tutorials for WvW is really weak. There should be other Tutorial NPCs for training how to build Siege and how upgrades work. In sPvP tutorial is great and same thing should be done for WvW. Every person who get’s into WvW for the first time check their inventory for supplies when they grab it which is not there because it is the barrel icon on top. A lot of people doesn’t read online information so I believe something like in sPvP tutorials should be included in game.

We have this kinda of matches because of transfers. If transfer’s are stopped tiers will be evenly matched.
Pretty much everybody is asking for Better Rewards for WvW. We need different stat combinations and different sets to match quality of ascended items.
My actual questions is:
Why while everybody is asking for this for a long time Anet did not make any comments about the subject.
If it is the 3d modelling of the items just place them as same as previous WvW sets with new stats and change their models in future when they are ready.
If it is you are thinking about a currency change in WvW, which is really needed please let us know what’s in your head.
We don’t want to wake up one day and see something like what you guys did with NPC commander. NPC commander idea was posted less than a week before it was included in game. Please talk to us gamers so we can give feedbacks.
I play 14-16 hours of WvW a day and I don’t think anybody in Anet has the time to do that. There are a lot of other players like me and we are willing to help to improve the WvW. So please share your ideas and what you guys are thinking about for future.
Mobile cannons have already been suggested (can’t build or bring them into towers, keeps, etc), and also suggested as a replacement to trebs (which the more dominant side can use to be even more dominant).
Personally I’m not a fan of trebs as they can be placed such that defenders cannot reach them whilst being guarded by a few people and they proceed to break down say GG walls without the opposition being able to get to them. They generally give a much greater advantage to the already stronger side making wvw match ups less even.
So with this idea you can build multiple trebs out of their treb reach and push them from different sides until they can reach to enemy treb and deploy them to hit their Treb. It will create way more tactics give multiple options.
I have also had the Ability lock due to the server lag. It can be a pain sometimes only being able to normal attack targets. On a second note I have also had a problem similar to another poster. I have no de-buff or condition on me that immobilizes me yet my character locks up unable to move. When you try to move the character stands straight up like a totem, in-order to free myself I must dodge roll or use a movement skill.
That happens when I build siege equipments. I think the movement lock is longer than build cast time.
I would love to have some more feedback about this idea.
Arenanet have always said wuvwuv would be an open world environment with no concern for balance, eg. if a team can’t flip an outpost: so be it.
And now this….
I understand that for casual players this event can be fun, and that ANet want casual players. But the Breakout event is totally contrary to the open-world-ignore-balance principle.
For non-casual players the event will rapidly become mind-numbing. Every few minutes it’s “Breakout @ Lake” and off we go to fight the same array of awfully placed, invulnerable siege against teams that only possess the skill to zerg in the first place.
Remove the Breakout event. Remove it now. Do not wait for match reset.
And BTW Anet, where was the player base analysis for this? Perhaps I missed the months or weeks of preceding info regarding this, but all I saw was “Good news! Wintersday update…”

The behavior is correct in that your character was killed while in combat but the team talked it over and we’re not happy with the golem going away as a result. We’ll get a change into an upcoming build so that if you’re in a golem when you DC the golem itself won’t be destroyed but will instead be left behind as though you had exited it.

I am from Devona’s Rest. I am sorry our server is really excited to go up a tier and we will be leaving to tier 6 depending on the performance of GoM last server of T6. You should blame server transfers for that reason because HoD and SF lost alot of players I don’t know exactly why. As you can expect they won’t lose their rating in 1 day so it’s taking time for them to go down that’s why T7 match up is not fair at the moment. About thieves you are making a mistake I play one and I believe I am a decent one and I can honestly tell you they nerfed the thief fair enough. Dancing Daggers was OP it got nerfed so hard now it’s really not useful. Thief is really good at killing unexperienced players that’s a fact. I can take down a group of 10 new/lowbie/unskilled players but on the other hand when I fight skilled players I have pretty much %50 success rate. Only class I believe underpowered is Engineer against thieves but I have seen some decent ones but deffinetly their win chance is not close to %50. There are different builds for thief so I can not exactly tell you how to counter them but what I would suggest you is to what I personally do:
If you are having any problems about any class just start one and go to sPvP and play and learn that class so you can see the pluses and minueses of it and fight according to that. An other tip is do not forget thieves get hit even when they go invisible. You can not believe the numbers of thieves I kill while they are stealthed a day.
Ranger is not suppose to be best class in range. GW2 doesn’t use the old mmorpg meta about classes. Every class has different adventages in both range and melee and have different roles in WvW. It is impossible to balance the game perfectly unless you have 1 class for everybody. Make sure you are playing the class you enjoy. Do not ask Anet to turn the class you choose to what you were expecting from it. I play all classes I know what I enjoy most in WvW and in sPvP and some times I switch classes to have some change.

An other thing if you are wearing berserker gear don’t expect to survive long. Go buy knights or something else with toughness so you won’t get burst down easily.

This makes no sense at all. Every server has people who can afford to drop as many golems as are needed, in fact you usually have people dropping a lot more then were asked for.
The situation where a server is winning because it can afford to drop golems and the other one can’t, doesn’t exist.
I am not saying this as a balance issue. If everybody has the same opportunity to get something there is nothing wrong with that. My point is: Influence of money on WvW. WvW being money sink with almost no rewards specially for end game players.
Now im not sure how other servers are but IoJ players love their PvE…me not so much, but there has been countless times that I have ran into Lvl 80 players with some stacked gear that didnt even know what WvWvW was. They didnt realize why they get extra health during the week (baffling but true). Also when I go into in LA and try and get regular players into W3 I usually get laughed at and told its point less because there is no reward.
Its sad but true, victory and a good fight is not enough for some players. So my idea is that why not increase the rate of rare drops in W3? nothing to extreme but enough to get regular players in and get them to stop whining about repair costs.
One drawback I can see from this is players just going in to farm NPC’s but I know that if this was something that anet implemented, I would lead some people into those caves and kill the farmers :P

We are one of the least populated servers but our WvW numbers are incredible because most of our server enjoy’s WvW. We have great guilds all friends with each other. Really mature and fun player base. We would love to see more players like you. And one last thing we are really loyal to Devona gave oath to never leave it.

I don’t know your class or any information about your gear but I think Level scaling system is pretty fair if you are wearing the best quality item’s of your level. I attained more than 100% crit chance because of scaling system when I was around level 60 which I can not get right now I am level 80 full exotics. You are probably not wearing any toughness or vitality items which is normal when you are leveling a character but in WvW those stats specially toughness is really crucial. Yes you are missing traits and elite skill which is bad for you but it’s to give you some motivation to level up. You are only level 17 and tried WvW for a day I believe nobody here would take your opinion seriously I am not even talking about Anet. Leveling system does not scale the hardness of leveling up which means leveling up from level 1 to level 2 pretty much in same difficulty as leveling from 79 to 80 so I don’t think you will have any difficulties leveling up. I leveled up 10to15 levels a day just playing WvW and I am sure you can at least make 5 a day easily. So please take the advice of people who are tring to help you here and stop raging at Anet who made an exceptional game.
Right now only mobile siege unit is alpha and omega golems. How about if we can move other siege units. 10 Second repack/deploy cast time 5 Second fire cooldown after deploy. Slow move speed equal or slower speed than golems. This is just an example packing/deploying times and movement speed can be different for different siege unit types. It can be moved by certain amount of players ex: 3 players has to mount on to siege unit and first one is in control of riding it but 3 players pushing it still can get attacked and if any of them is downed siege unit stops moving.
Benefits:
-Misplaced siege by new players can be corrected.
-It will create new strategies.
-Will give the boost to WvW players who is getting bored of repetitive WvW.
-Siege cap abuse by spies can be fixed with this solution
-More efficent siege cap. You don’t have to leave 2-3 rams in every place you capture or other siege finished it’s business.
-Flame ram’s flame function might be functional on packed moving mode to make it more interesting.
Minuses
-Unwanted players or spies can move the siege.(Can be fixed by making siege unit to be moved only by its owner)
-May cause some new glitched or bugs. (Well I trust Anet on this one)
Response time is the key factor with golem rushes. If you don’t have that, then you’re screwed but if you do, they’re very easily defeated since most golem drivers simply become ballista shish-kebab when the door comes down.
Goal of this post is not to complain about golems or how to deal with them. It’s about new change’s to currency and new rewards and how easily/or not golems should be accessible for servers.

You can have 1000 golem they will die like that if you go under oil and kitten load of Arrow carts which they dont have AoE limit of 5 like player AoE skills. An other thing that can be done is a cooldown limit like guild golems for every players so it will prevent one player to drop bunch of golems but they still can send money to an other player and ask them to buy so that wont really fix the issue. Golem limit per map sounds like a good idea. An other issue is Golem’s doesnt have the owner priority so they get highjacked sometimes.
I fear that making golems and upgrades only buyable with a new currency will make it tough on lower population servers that don’t have a massive group of people to buy upgrades and such. If these lower population servers can’t buy upgrades the keeps and tower will be nearly defenseless as they won’t have a mass army to defend it and no upgrades to hold them off
Please re-read my post. I am saying only golem’s should not be bought with money. Upgrades still can be purchased with money but also alternatively with karma or “WvW Currency like glory points”.

Valik i play on a server with a very low WvW population. people don’t want to spend their gold on a tower or keep that we are gonna lose as soon as half our numbers log off. I still end up buying and using siege even if its only to hold the enemy off for another hour but not everyone is willing to do that. if there was a seperate currency for siege then this wouldnt happen as often. I normally don’t spend the time to do the jumping puzzle when i log into WvW because we need everyone we can get as soon as we can get them in there.
It is not fair some people are paying for all the stuff and rest is just leeching so separate currency is really crucial in my opinion.
I believe golems are great tools for WvW and they should not be bought with money. Golems should be bought with badges. Also there should be an other tab in siege vendor to purchase siege items with karma. If you have too much money you can drop as many golem’s as you can which is not fair. WvW should stop being a money sink. Repair cost is fair enough there should be a punishment for death but upgrade costs and money spent on siege is way too much. WvW should use an other system then money just like in sPvP we have glory points. So far it’s badges but badge system has many problems:
Players missing loot-bags because they have to continue fighting other than looking for loot bags they left behind or spamming F button during fights.
You can only stack 250 badges which is taking alot of inventory/bank space after a while.
We need new WvW gear with more stat options.
We need new WvW gear to match ascended gear stats.
Siege purchase and WvW gear purchase should use different currency encourageing players to buy siege instead of saving it for their gear or legendary. Ex: gear with badges or badge points and siege with “WvW points” like Glory Points.
Edit:
We need diversity in WvW gear and sPvP gear.
Ex: Knight’s armor Base stat Toughness other stats: prec and power we need an other one with base stat power or prec while toughness is the other stat. Also different stat combinations. These changes doesnt have to be WvW gear it can be crafted or attainable as well but we need more options.

Well only 1out of 20 ppl says its working fine maybe less than that so i think %95 percent of people hated is correct. In game everybody says it’s stupid in my server.
Well I believe it shouldn’t be removed but amount of people ressing in the same should be capped or amount healed during res should be limited for both downed and dead.
We are doing our best at T7 holding 695 points at all times but not much we can do unless GoM fails. So our hearts are with Anvil Rock and NSP these last 3 days. Beat GoM so Devona can give you a real challange
Same thing happened to me during Mad king event. I did the dungeon and then I went to WvW and I had great camera distance from my character. I was so happy Anet made that change when I asked other people they told be they don’t have any difference in their camera distance. When I relog it was gone to normal distance. I think camera should have better distance our skills already have a range limit so what’s the point of having so short cam distance. On the other hand anybodu using 3rd party program to abuse this should be banned.

We Just Passed GoM again so it is still uncertain if we are replacing GoM this week. There is nothing more we can do as Devona other than hoping GoM will fail at last 2 days.

Happened to me too and also in PvE events, most noticably in the big Karkas events.
Seems to be a kind of lag somehow, because if i waited enough without moving my meteor shower would come 5 secs after the casting bar had gone through.

Regarding identifying a guild that has claimed an installation, why is there no way to see which guild it is, beyond employing a vexillologist? It’d be really handy y’know!
Exactly they should give guild name and tag on guards so we will know which guild claimed the place so we can reach them and ask them for buffs or unclaim it so an other guild with buffs can claim it. Also there should be a way to keep guild upgrades at all times like a full upgrade package more expensive than others so if your guild is earning sufficent inf points you can keep buffs at all times. Considering buffs are not so strong I don’t think that would be a problem. I think guild factor in guild wars is really weak.
Both are great for WvW I would recommend Elem. 1vs1 Elem can take down any class easily but with thief it is a bit more tricky to fight against Mesmers and Elementalists. On the other hands in 1vs Many pvp thief has better control of the combat if you feel like things are getting ugly you can always stealth and leave and restart again but with Elem it’s a bit harder to run away. All this info I am giving you considering your enemy knows how to play. Thief is great at sweeping trash players you will be taking down all non skilled and low levels in seconds and focus harder enemies. Elem also AoE the kitten out of groups. I play a balanced thief with full toughness crit and power it’s great but I believe elem is more fun and more OP in most cases. Combination of skills you can use is Elem gives you great opportunity in thief it’s a bit repeatative so you might get bored in a while.
Break out is for the weak people with no brains… Thanks Anet for supporting kitten #8230; Get the freaking NPCs out of WvW we are there to fight players. Even move the NPC in towers keeps and SM.
Set a Deadline for server Transfers and make it available for every 3 months. Do not allow transfer’s to populated servers.

That’s why we ask every new guild the reason why they transfered to us. We respect everybody willing to only fight for Devona and stay here forever.
We got used to winning and we have been getting ready for tier 7 for a long time and now we got a free pass to tier 6 which might cause us to drop the ball. We didn’t fought at EB almost at all because there is no threat which means we didn’t practice for next week.

I just hope we will have the same ambition when we move up to 6th Tier because NSP looks like a worthy opponent for us.
Anet should place NPC commander instead of champions in every supply camp so we can PvE more in WvW.
For real I just hate all the pve factors in WvW. Hyleks Ogres Dredges etc… All should be removed. And first thing first remove the kitten NPC commander.
Loyalty and being persistent is the reason we have numbers in WvW. We don’t give up. Many people wanna trash talk devona tring to find an excuse saying “oh its just numbers” . We have good players on pvp and bad players as every single server but there is a fact we have hard working people willing to win. To all those from SF and HoD talking kitten about Devona I am saying this not to hurt you or anything I am saying it because it’s a fact Kain and Fergusons had way better players then you guys and I honestly think they deserve to be in this tier.
I am sorry we have more dedicated players than you guys have and I am sorry about the broken match making system and free server transfers. Devona belongs to 3rd-5th tier bracket imo but due to the broken server ranking system we have to be in tier 6 and dominate at all times. We are tring to make it to tier 6 this week but seems like we gonna miss around 5k-10k rating at the end of the week unless GoM fails harder this week because devona is already doing max points.

It doesn’t mean that it will stay that way ratings can change. Devona can not do better than this we are already holding 695 at all times but if GoM do better their rating will go up and we will miss around 5k-10k rating to go tier 6.
I am really greatful anet is working on culling but there is an other issue which seems worse:
In big combats specially if 3 teams fight inside Stone Mist player skills are not working. You can run around and keep fighting with auto attacks but your skills specially the ones with a cast time won’t work. This is not an issue about my computer or my connection because all players had it and it happened every time in a big battle. Maybe EB servers should be improved to support more players to fight efficiently.
I was expecting Ferguson’s would compete Kain for 1st place this week seems like Kain is doing great. Gj guys, hope to see you in upper tiers, from what we saw in T7 you guys should not be in T8.
