Actually I like the zerg fest part! It’s the 5 man instance dungeon at the end makes me mad. They take out a wonderful place and turn it into a 5 man pug waste of time. Boring. Boring and again Boring. Not only that if you don’t do it there is no way to turn the thing back and spend your wickets.

Sorry this is the best update so far. It has lots to do. The dynamic fights are what we have been asking for. As far as I’m concerned there should always be an area like this in every update. The little domes are challenging to say the least but even I have done one or 2 so far. I don’t know if I can do them with the gambits yet but I’ll think I try to just kill them first.

The balloons could have been a nice touch if it actually was a ride. But think of how long you would be hanging up there in the balloon. Maybe they should have done a short panoramic at the beginning and the end. The fights to get the chests are pretty easy especially if there are others around to help. But the new dynamic content is great and the achievements are pretty good. There could have been more under the queens jubilee though. It’s really new content and not recycled jumping puzzles. There is not such a emphasis on PvP or Pugging Dungeons. It’s happening out there in the world and all you got to do it go get it. I like the fact that the towers are quest driven and not just run out and get the treasure like the kites.

Thanks, ArenaNet!

The proper way to fix the dungeons would be to make them available to all players no matter how many people in the party. The dungeon would be just as hard for 1 or 15 players. Or if that is impossible to give players Hero’s to use instead of pug groups.

What’s wrong with wanting the dynamic world we were promised? The artificial world of instance dungeons is just that artificial. I have no problem with them being in the game but I like my social aspect of the game to be with people actually playing the game not segregating themselves into an instance and calling it social.

New Dungeon Rewards Not Needed

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Myst Dawnbringer.9138

Myst Dawnbringer.9138

We don’t need any new kind of reward to try to get us into 5 man pug dungeons. You are wasting your time and my money. What we need is someone to listen to the vast majority of us and make the dungeons level to the number of toons that enter. So no matter how many players are doing the dungeon it’s just as hard. If it’s 1 or 50. Or if that is too complicated just give us Hero’s. That’s it, those are the only ways you are going get me in there. I will never do pug dungeons again.

Now saying that I realize I will never get my legendary weapon. I already have Dawn and most of the stuff except the crap you need in the dungeons. I hate when games do these things. They give you lofty goal then put in things you hate to do in order to achieve them. You knew it when you put them in and did it anyway to get people to do the dungeons. Which by the way are petty much empty now. I know I tried to get them and even though I went I could not do them alone and there was no one there to group with. So the only recourse is to try and be a super hero and solo a 5 man dungeon. Not for me. I left my subscription game and came to GW2 because of this mentality and that it was going to be a spontaneous dynamic game that did not rely on 5 man pug dungeons. SURPRISE! Well, that swords going to sit in my locker until Tyria freezes over.

So now that you realize that the Dungeons are empty you refuse to admit it and work out a reasonable solution that works for everyone. You appeal to everyone’s greed and promise more loot. To what end, oh yeah the dungeons are empty and you need to fill them.

I got no problem with this kind of fluff in the game as some players like it. Like the mini games and PvP, but that’s not for me, I want to spend my time adventuring in the world and grouping with players that are there. Ready to kill dragons and bandits attacking a bridge. That’s grouping. Not standing around hollering for a group. It’s just like in GW1 when you refused to put in an Auction House.

Put the Living Story in the world

in Living World

Posted by: Myst Dawnbringer.9138

Myst Dawnbringer.9138

The big problem with the living story is it’s all closed off in mini games and pug dungeons and PvP areas that a lot of players find down right boring.

There needs to be more Living Story out there in the game that happens as you play. The new events that happened in the old areas were great. And the achievements were good too.

Then, there needs to be more Living Story areas that if they must be in an instance it should work a bit like the Halloween PvE area and not like Direct and Advanced Support. I think a lot of players like to solo and hate doing pugs but love being out and about and randomly grouping to do big stuff like the Dragons and the survivalists.
If Direct Support and Advanced Support were like a big area with lots of dynamic events happening and had 4 big boss fights you could not keep the players out. You would like be limiting how many times a day they could do it and get the chest. Instead of 4 levels you could get your achievement for killing each of the 4 bosses. You could even have an achievement for killing him a number of times.

And could we have some quests!

Then you need to have enough achievements so no one needs to spend a lot of time doing things they don’t want to.

Myst Dawnbringer.9138

Frankly, I’m bored with the whole game I have like 6 or 7 level 80 toons and nothing really new for them to do. Except things I’ve already done. Pug dungeons are boring and so is PvP for me. WvW is Ok once in a while but really I just want to play in the world.

So the living story would be great for players like me but it’s become a dull farming experience. It gives you achievements if you want to PvP or do dungeons or mini games which are fine for about 5 minutes then boring. Southsun Survival is about the most boring time I’ve ever had playing Gw1 or 2. I can barely drag myself to the computer to do the 15 games for the achievement, I’ve given up on the mini in fear for my life if I had to face getting 2500 points for the achievement.

Direct and Advanced Support could have been wonderful but as it is it’s just a boring mini game. It could have been an area where 100-150 or so players could go and do dynamic events against the a-blades that culminated in four different major boss battles. Each giving one of the 4 achievements. But alas we get king of the hill scaling up a little harder each time. Ho hum.

No body complained about killing those survivalist bosses on Southsun for a couple of weeks. It was fun running back and forth and opening the chests.

These Mini games are stupid and boring and just fast and furious fluff that they can throw in easily without much work! Like Pug dungeon that keep a few players happy! We want the dynamic content we were promised.

Direct Support and Advanced Support would have been so much better if it was and area like Halloween that had dynamic events that culminated in 4 graduated boss fights and for killing each boss you got the four levels of achievements. A million times better. Every section of the living story should have a section like this completely devoted to dynamic play.

Myst Dawnbringer.9138

For the life of me I will never understand why this game insists of forcing players to do things they hate. I hate PvP and mini games and pug dungeons. I like general PvE and don’t mind WvW but would rather just go out in the realm and play. The dynamic events are great and I cannot understand WHY they are not incorporated into the living story more.

Like instead of a king of the hill mini game like direct and advanced support why not have an area where many players 50 -150 or so could explore and do pop up events. there could have been 4 graduated boss fights in the area for the 4 levels in the achievements. Much more exciting than a mini game. More like the Halloween PvE area.

Southern survival is the most boring time I’ve spent in GW2 or any other game I’ve done. The other one wasn’t much better but at least it was faster. I figure in order to finish the southern survival I would have to do over 100 games and the chances of that happening are well astronomical since I can barely stand to do the first 15.

We were all promised a dynamic world but I guess it’s only a dynamic world until you reach level 80 then there’s not much to do.

PvP is fine if you like it. But why am I forced to do it for an achievement I realize you want to have some achievements for PvPer’s but forcing any one else in there is nuts. For one were only interested in getting the ball or killing the ball and not really worried who wins. It’s kitten the players who actually like it and want to play to have to deal with the ones who don’t know what their doing. Although when I am in there doing dragon ball or whatever I do try but Lessa knows as soon as I get the achievement I’ll never go back.

And get ready for it the Queen Jenna is going to be more of the same!

Myst Dawnbringer.9138

Guild Wars 2 was going to be all about innovation and a living world. A world where dynamic events happened that changed everything. Now we are deluged with boring mini games, 5 man pug dungeons, and the mind numbing reality of farming for junk to fill our bank with stuff we don’t need.

As an example look at Direct support and Advanced support. A instance dungeon where a few players can do King of the hill fighting until they die and get a score and has four levels of difficulty. Wouldn’t it have been nice it was a place that 50 to 100 or so players could go at one time and fight in dynamic events that would on a revolving basis culminate in 4 levels of boss fight. Maybe you have 3 bosses to fight for each level then to finish you have to fight the mega boss with a big group to get the achievement.

Maybe more achievements could be added so if you don’t want to do instance dungeons or PvP or mini games you could still finish. There is just never enough world content to do anything any more. I love going to an area and finding 100 players all doing the same thing and working on the same achievements. If you got to stick us in an instance that’s fine as long as the overflows are full and not just holding patterns.

Is there anything more boring than southern survival? All I have to do to finish is either do Southern Survival or the Direct Support both about as fun as root canal. Both so mind numbing I took the time to come here and complain because it’s actually more fun.

At least in this release we were not forced to redo jumping puzzles again.

These mini games and instance dungeons are fine fluff but should not become the be all and end all of GW2. And should stay in the optional category of play.

And the new Queen Jenna segment looks to be more of the same!

Dear Anthony,

What happened to spontaneous dynamic content. Now we are deluged with boring mini games that are either PvP or king of the hill content redressed over and over. Guild wars has gotten away from its goals and reverted to a mini games and instance dungeons to provide new content. It’s just boring and not enough content for players to be able to pick and choose what they want to do. That is now a player must spend countless time doing things they would rather not do just to finish content for the living world. In Politics 2 achievements were really PvE. The other 10 were PvP or instance dungeons or mini games.

I get that you make this content and would like all the players to try it. But I did not buy GW2 for mini games and 5 man pug instance dungeon, or PvP. I bought this game for the spontaneous dynamic world.

I had to change my hair style on my toon with fervid censor so it would not pixel in and out all the time. There seems to be a space and time fight for the same area of your back. The censor was OK because it sits on one side of your back, the wintersday one seems more solid than these which are a bit transparent and that adds to the bad graphics. Another shoulder one would be nice for the future for the left shoulder.

Let me lend you my Hammer and a nail for the instance dungeon coffin!

It’s not the dungeons that are the failure, it’s having them there at all that is the failure. In a spontaneous dynamic world, where does a 5 man instance dungeon fit into that description? They are a cheap fix for content and a easy way to manage player population and time. GW2 was to be better than that, if I wanted that I could have stayed in WoW who does it better and cheaper. My 1 year subscription to WoW was so much less than I’ve spent on 1 year of GW2.

So make the dungeons solo-able. Or give us Heros like in GW1 to use. I’m much happier doing a dungeon with one other player I know and trust and 3 hero henchmen I can hire, or by myself and 4 hero henchmen. We have the technology to do it either by adjusting the dungeon or using hero henchmen. An you can party all you want with whom ever you like too. But be for warned most of the dungeons are empty!

Well I just don’t understand what all the brouhaha is about. If you look at it all it gets you is one chest. For 29.99 you to can buy the trilogy and get the same thing. But be for warned there is no auction house. All trades have to happen in town by calling out what you want to buy or sell.

Look on the wiki for what you need to do to get some of those points. First thing buy the pets and get them in HoM that will get you some points. But be sure and not buy ones already dedicated to HoM. Party, drinking and Sweets points can be purchased at a premium from other players. It helps if you have 2 computers and 2 accounts to amass these points for yourself as you really only get them at holidays and events. Exploration takes a bit of time you have to slide around the edge of every state inch by inch looking outward for nooks and crannies. Then you have to find the weird hidden mistake places. Not easy by any means. All I needed to finish my 50/50 was one set of Armor I could not get. I probably have the money but can’t do the underworld enough to get it. So I got 45/50 which I am very proud of even if you aren’t.

Anet in it’s wisdom has seen fit to reward it’s loyal customers which is rather good business practice. They actually promised a lot more account linkage in the beginning, even being able to put your armor and pets into the HoM and get them out on the GW2 side. I’d love to bring my Madd King Thorn pet to GW2! So the account linkage is nowhere near what they promised in the beginning but we go a small bump in achievement points, some skins and pets. Not a lot when you really realize how much time we put in to get them!

I don’t agree with that but that’s the way it is. If you want the living story stuff you better be willing to explore other aspects of the game to get it too. There will never be enough to just do one aspect of the game to finish and of these big goals. Although the WvW for me is boring I don’t mind doing it as much as PvP or instance dungeons. I was quite disappointed they were giving out WvW tokens like candy in the achievement boxes. Why not let you pick your token reward for these rewards. Then you could get the reward you needed.

This game is about diversity. You can do a lot of different things and get rewards from all of them. I personally can do with out the PvP and dungeons but I don’t expect to get the achievement for doing them, just because they are there. Nor do I demean someone who enjoys doing them because I don’t enjoy that. You don’t enjoy dailies and think they are beneath you and your lofty goals. Well fine. You don’t want those achievements because they are too easy. And they don’t poison the pool because if you did them then your lofty achievement would be ever so much more.

I gotta say it because I’m afraid you might get away with it again and we will be doomed to repeat your mistakes again and again. These new chapters in the living story are just repeating old content with a new achievement. All these repeated jumping puzzles are just that repeats like a rerun of I love Lucy. I’m not so big on PvP so I don’t know what you rehashed there but I suspect there may be some patterns there too. The PvE portions which are extremely almost nonexistent lately only require you to run around and find some kites. We want more real PvE content for achievements. A jumping puzzle is not PvE by the way. Many of the Four winds achievements revolve around jumping puzzles then a bunch are for PvP then a handful are for just looking around. Where is the PvE? Even the drinking game is recycled from the personal story line where you have to out drink the pirates.

For the record the boat and environs are quite wonderful and fun to see. The race is kinda fun too and even though I’ll never win I don’t mind doing it the 25 times. I find it confusing on how to get to it though and I try to go and end up in some PvP game that I could give a hoot about and feel bad that I’m on some team that needs the last toon and got me who knows nothing.

To sum up Old Content recycled is not new content. And once again not enough real PvE! Real PvE not Instance Dungeons. Dynamic world content!

Two, if you don’t want to do the jumping puzzle the only alternative to get the mini is to do a pug dungeon which is even worse than doing the stupid WvW. You need to add a hard and fun PvE achievement. I just bought Defiance I think I might be spending my time there a bit more in the future. Maybe I’ll buy some bits instead of more gems!

By the way I even tried to do the jumping puzzle and it seem to be in a area that is FULL and you can’t get in.

You can still drop us to the area’s level we could just do another different quest from Farmer John. You would get players back to other areas and give people something else to do.

The map stays the same and the waypoints the same, I don’t know if you could add a few jumping puzzles or not. But this would revitalize the game and give players more to do.

I ask because I have 7 level 80 toons and am getting a bit bored. I played Rift. WoW, and GW1 but once I realized that after the first year the events just repeated it became more boring.

I Understand the premise of repeating a event for players who did not play before or did not finish everything last time. That’s fine! But I really think you should build on the previous content for the players who want to continue on and add more content to these events. So I’m looking for the old but want new content that will keep me busy. But not looking for instance dungeons.

But as an aside, I gotta say one of the most magical moments in my playing history was watching all those Wintersday Presents drop with your name on them in GW1.

4.You make my case for me. More players doesn’t mean harder if it’s 1, 3, 5 or 25.

5. Once again spend some money and update the game. Have you bought some gems lately. This game is more expensive than WoW if you buy the gems. If they wanted they could do it it’s not that hard. Never lend your friends money of any type unless your willing to either loose the friend or the money! You have to be willing to let the friend not pay you back. It’s a life lesson everyone has to learn. Better to learn it here with play money than later in the real world.

There would be no need to scale rewards because it would be just as hard no matter how many players in your party. That’s the whole idea. Two players would play at a 2/5 level of the 5 man dungeon. Ten players would play a dungeon at 2 times the 5 man dungeon scale. Twenty-five players would play at 5 times the scale of the 5 man dungeon. Everybody plays, everybody has fun everybody wins. No down side at all.

Well except that maybe more people would have access to doing the dungeons. More players could get rewards. More players could finish their legendary weapon and not have to buy yours on the TP!

1. Many of the dungeons are Empty. I’ve been to AC looking for a group to get tears and NO ONE is there.

2. Since when does MMO mean 5 man instance dungeons. This game was intended to do dynamic in game events not 5 man instance dungeons. I suspect the persistence of these 5 man dungeons is because they are cheap to produce and need little repair on the part of the producers. I know there are players who enjoy this type of play and are good at it but I am not one of them. And soloing the team dungeons is a useless waste of armor repair and time and you know it. I cannot understand why you are so selfish you would deny another player a chance to do some of the game content.

3. They have the knowledge to upgrade or downgrade your abilities to an area. Why not just upgrade or downgrade the dungeon to the amount of players in the party.
This would give a 2 man team a difficulty of 2/5 of the regular 5 man dungeon. So it would not be any easier for 2 than 5. So what’s the problem with this system. Oh, I know some of those players that don’t do dungeons might get a legendary weapon and not have to buy the one your selling for 2500 gold.

4. With this model your 5 man instance dungeon could have a sliding scale and could scale up also. You could take 10 players and do a dungeon twice as hard as the 5 man one or 25 players could do one 5 times as hard as the 5 man one.

5. If this doesn’t please you at least put Heroes outside the dungeon door that players could hire like in Guild Wars. And I mean real useful AI characters we could use to do the dungeons.

For the second day in a row I have tried to go to Catacombs and get in a group. Nothing doing, nothing happening. Empty.

So what is the problem with scaling the dungeon to the amount of people who are in the party when they enter?

Say 3 people are trying to do it and waiting out side and instead of waiting for maybe a possibility of someone else coming, they go in just the 3 of them. The dungeon looks at the party and adjusts the dungeon to 3/5 of the normal difficulty. But here is the fun part for all you social animals. Mega Dungeons, say you go in with a party of 10 now the dungeon is twice as hard as for a party of 5. Twenty five players could do a dungeon 5 times as hard as a regular one. Guilds could have Mega Dungeon Raids. Newer players could look around and learn a bit about the Dungeon before they tried it with others.

This system everyone plays and everyone would benefit.

Then there could be a dungeon group finder for players who wanted to go on bigger groups. This could pull players from other servers to fill out parties.
