As I said and it seems you agree there is a lack of players willing to group for these events. I went willing to group, waited and left without even finding one person willing to do the dungeon. Alone again by default.

I just don’t understand the problem with making these places accessable to everyone. With giving everyone a equal opportunity to achieve. No matter how many people in the party. I think it should scale up and down. Say a big guild with 25 players wants to hold a meta event and all 25 players want to do a dungeon I think the dungeon should scale up for them to do it. I also think it should scale down for 1-4 players. They have the technology and already use it in the game. Why not use it here and what is the real problem? That someone else might get a bit of nice gear.

This would be an excellent way of making dungeons more relevant. Give big and small guilds something to do. Achievements could be added for doing it in groups or solo. Everyone plays, everyone achieves, everyone is happy.

You all did not read the post. He stated he went to the dungeon and looked for players to do the dungeon with and there were NONE! Pay attention. I know as I did the same thing today.

Standing in LA and hollering for a group to do the Ascalonian Catacombs is about as much fun as standing in LA in GW1 hollering to sell 25 glittering dust. Yet, I find my self needing 500 freaking tears.

A dungeon group generator would be one answer. As a model look at WoW. Not my favorite answer but at least you would be able to find a group.

You could scale the dungeon to the number in the party. If five people go in it’s as is. If 3 people go in it’s 3/5th as hard etc. etc. etc. In the end it’s no different and is just as hard for everyone.

You could go back to GW1 and do the hero route.

I realize there are players who really enjoy banding together in a group of 5 and doing these. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. I like to work at my own pace.

The big excuse for 5 players is always it’s a social MMO. Well, I enjoy my social aspects out in the dynamic world of the game and not in rigid 5 man instance dungeons. I’m willing to let you have them but would like a chance to do them too. And cannot understand the elitist attitude that doing something with 4 other people is better than doing it alone or with one, two, or three other players. And why should a smaller group be penalized for doing something that is just as hard. No one wants it to be easier for smaller groups just equal.

But keep in mind that the only reason you need the 500 tears for the legendary weapon is to keep players in the 5 man dungeons. And if that’s the only way your getting players to do them your failing miserably. Because nobody is there. I went, I waited, I looked around and tried to do it myself and I gave up.

1. Your players are Pavlov’s Dogs. They need rewards. Complete an event get a reward. Look at the instigator zergs , if you can’t comprehend. People are going to stand where the Queen spawns till hell freezes over until you give them a reason to go somewhere else. The reward doesn’t have to be a lot just a chance of something is enough. It’s also a nice way to know your done with this area and can go to the next. Which brings up:

2. Waypoints that work and are not contested would help. Players are just too afraid of missing the Queen to move out of the area.

3. There is just no excuse that the new weapon and armor skins are old skins that can be gotten on the TP much cheaper.

4. If waypoints are impossible some kind of linear progression would be nice. Start at the ship, clear that area move south once you get to the southern one and all the areas are clear portals appear to take you to queen event.

5. Having done it twice it would have been nice to get my achievement.

6. The Karka spawn pretty much anywhere and everywhere and are invincible a lot. Why are they invincible? I thought we were trying to kill them. I’ve been moving around trying to stay alive and kill Karka who can move a lot faster than I can by the way when out of the blue 5 or 6 huge karka will spawn on my head. My armor repairs are much more than the rewards I’m getting for doing this.

7. Finding your loot is hard. The battles are big and fast and a small loot icon to press F can easily be missed. The choice if winning or looking for loot should not need to come up. It’s very easy to miss something. And if your in a good Zerg it moves fast. If your loot from the whole battle came up for you in a chest at the end so much better. I found many items that dropped from the trash mobs in the settler battles that could have easily been missed. I wonder if I did miss anything or if anyone else did.

He’s a bit of a mama’s boy! But the real problem is the whole race is a disappointment. I was so looking forward to the race and it just leaves me cold. I can’t put my finger on it but I think their a bad salad joke. Visually they are so sorry and sad and instead of ethereal we get clunky leaf hair. Instead of beautiful flowers we got weeds. This race should have been amazing but it fell far short.

I admit I am very new to WvW in GW2 but I did a lot of Wintersgrasp is WoW. And I must say I find it kind of confusing. I don’t use a sound system. And it’s extremely hard to follow the Commanders orders reading the crawl. I find it hard to read all the time and play. Sorry Old Lady here.

It would be a lot easier if you could click on the Commanders Icon bring up a box with all the Commanders in the area. Pick the Commander you want to follow and have his orders show up under the time and supply in bold letters at the top of the page. If you did not want to use it you could turn it off just as easily but I got to say for me it would make my time a lot easier. Half the time I’m trying to read what he’s saying and he’s moved on and I’m trying to catch up again. It would make the commander a lot easier to pay attention to and follow. I got enough to do without trying to pick one persons orders out of many in the crawl.

I plant a toon in the area and just pop in and out once in awhile to see if it was open.

These event are still a mystery to me as to how they start and when they are. I would do them if I had a clue but every time the timers say its happening you go and stand and wait and wait. If they were on a predictable timer more people would go. If you build it they will come.

Dungeons are a small, fast, easy and cheap way to add new content. Used by highly organized and skilled groups of players trying to do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome.

If everyone would rather do it alone than in a group then what’s the problem. Your saying that a few players want to do dungeons in 5 man groups but that the only way to get enough players to do it that way is to punish everyone else and make them do it in 5 man groups.

Easy mode would be fine, but why not just adjust the dungeon to the amount of players going in. They have the technology or seem to be using it all the time in PvE and other places in the game.

And the question was actually is the new living story going to force group to finish too?
Since I did all the work on the first and won’t get to finish, I’d like to not WASTE my time in this new one too.

If there was a group generator I would try it. Put your name in the hat and the computer puts 5 players together to do it. Fine, no looking for a group, just go, win or fail so be it.

I too would like to know the answer to this question. I don’t have any problem with dungeons being in the game just having them as the end of the chain. And being forced to do them to finish the content. I hate them. I left Wow to get away from them. Dungeons are a good way to add content for players who like them but they should be reserved for enrichment content and not one time only endings. I want the dynamic, spontaneous content we were promised. I am very angry that I spent so much time doing the content for F & F just to sit out the end because it’s a pug dungeon.

I like playing with others and the Southsun Cove one time only event was awesome!!! That’s what I want, more of that. I want the PvE experience to feel more the WvW experience. Also the Madd King PvE event was great. Not so great the Wintersday dungeons. The dragon battles are good and I would like more of that dynamic feeling to the living world.

I figure they do the dungeons because it’s the cheapest way to do the ending. And yes, it’s and mmo and the dynamic version is so much more applicable to being a mmo than a 5 man dungeon to end your solo adventure or personal story.

My big problem with posting on these forums is that we are told that the forums are read and suggestions considered. Well, I actually would like some answers from the game makers and not just other players.

While I realize answering to every post is impossible, it would be nice if since we took the time to actually come here and give you our thoughts you might have someone answer the posts with say a minimum of 5 pages or so. Discussion is extremely hard on a one way street.

Skip the whole dungeon idea and get back to the dynamic spontaneous world idea we were promised when we bought the game. Forget about trying to outdo WoW and go back to the dynamics. It’s what makes you better.

My guess is that the old 5 man dungeon is the cheapest way to do it. A dynamic ending in a spontaneous area would cost more. I’m not interested in doing pug dungeons, that’s why I bought this game that promised a dynamic spontaneous world. So much for promises! That said, I can live with dungeons as I know that many people enjoy them, but they should not be exclusive end game content that contains special items that can be obtained no where else in the game like special crafting materials. That’s why I left WoW. Which is actually cheaper to play than GW2 even with the monthly fee if you use the gems or gem items at all.

OMG, In all my years of playing GW and WoW and GW2, I have seen it all. I’ve seen votes for the worst tank ever. The worst healer. It goes on and on, all by the loudest most offensive player on the team. The healer won’t heal me, well stop standing in the poison idiot. I’ve been on a few good teams but they were few and far between.

I actually did a dungeon with a leader( in WoW you can go in as the leader of the group) who actually called targets and marked them, explained battles before they happened, told everyone their responsibility and helped everyone. But that was once in 15 years of playing. The rest of the time it was a pretty sad state of grouping. Sorry but I’m too old and tired of it. I want the large spontaneous group that happens all by itself. I just did the big centaur battle HH and that was quite fun. I just don’t understand why the end of F & F could not have a dungeon and a finish for everyone else too.

I have no problem with there being a dungeon just with it being the finish and required to go on. Oh by all means in a spontaneous world have a stop to group for a 5 man dungeon. Let there be dungeons, let there be lots of them, let there be good stuff to get in there. BUT, don’t let them be mandatory, don’t let them have things that cannot be gotten anywhere else like specialized crafting materials. That was one of the big reasons I quit WoW!

I want social contact but I still want a the spontaneous world we were promised not the 5 man instance I can get on WoW! I love the dragon battles. I want content at the end of F & F like the Southsun Cove Krait battle. Put us in an instance if you have to but make it like that Krait battle and the Madd King PvE areas. You show glimpses of creativity then run away form it to boring dungeons. Probably because they are easy and cheap to do. Well, I have to say that I have spent more on this game than about 5 years of subscriptions to WoW. So I have bought a lot of gems. I have 5 level 80 toons , a 74, 38 and a 10 one in each class. So I’ve spent the money and you have not delivered on your promises.

I got no problem with dungeons being in the game as many people like this form of play. But they should be an add on and not part of the story line of the game. My problem is that my not liking to do them is keeping me from progressing through the game. Can’t finish my personal story. Can’t finish the Living Story. And putting stuff in the dungeons you cannot get anywhere else is just nuts, so like WoW it makes me want to scream and wear my coat inside out.

So you need to rethink the whole end of F &F and go back and do a real ending worthy of GW2.

Mathew and Paul. If you would have told me up front that the whole living story was going to end in a big 5 man I would have skipped the whole thing. But I also suspect that’s why you didn’t tell anyone too. Because a lot of players would have skipped it. I would like a refund please. I’d like to see the content but you will never get me to try it. I’ve seen too many bad experiences on GW1 and WoW to even bother with them.

Frankly, I think you need some new tools in your kit. I want a spontaneous world like you promised. The one time fight on Southsun Cove is what I expected the end of F & F to be like. You can put us in an instance, that’s fine but work it more like The Madd King area of PvE. And just to really frost my bucket you say things like and we put in new things you can only get here. That’s why I left WoW.

I’m not against playing with other players just rigid groups of small players. No matter how careful you are there is always one player in a group of five willing to play dictator. If you insist on 5 man instances you might as well put in the random group generator at least that way you don’t have to stand around waiting for a group. It’s like grade school and who’s going to be picked for what team. God, that’s not entertainment that’s torture.

I just don’t understand why you keep using this old trick and even more why I am once again fooled into thinking you might just try to be creative and do something new?

Living story, spontaneous world, personal story, wait we can’t think of any way to manage the players we might as well do a 5 man dungeon. Creative, not in the least. Boring ad nauseam.

The big one time fight on Southsun Cove with the Krait was amazing and I hoped the ending of the living story would reflect the creativity that was shown there. The big dragon battles are just as amazing and people love doing them as you found out when you put in guesting.

I came to this game to get away from 5 man dungeons. If I liked them I would have stayed on WoW and saved myself a whole lot of money. Because I’ve spent a heck of a lot more on this game than my monthly fee on WoW. I buy a lot of gems and feel that I am supporting a game that pays no attention to me.

Everything up to the end of the Living story has had the option to do it alone. Certainly, giving me the impression that it would continue. Why change it now? I don’t mind doing things with other people, I just don’t like small rigid groups of inflexible players. And just to rub salt in the wound you add stuff to the game that can only be gotten in this new Dungeon.

I want you to go back to the spontaneous. I want players who show up to play in a place that changes. I don’t care if you send us to an instance but I want it to work similar to The Madd King Realm where it didn’t matter weather you were in the main area or the overflow. I don’t want to stand around a door waiting to be asked into a group. If your going to insist on this you might as well put in a random group generator like WoW. At least with that you go, you play, you leave. Perhaps an instance that worked like WvW but for PvE.

The spontaneous events are what make GW2 not 5 man dungeons.

The chests are gone. How very sad. It was fun and I enjoyed it. They were hard to do and it made waiting for dragons enjoyable. Since guesting started we have to go so early to do a dragon this gave us something to do.

Please put the chests back for the rest of the month. Even if you can’t do it in all areas pick a few. This was a nice way to include players who were disinclined to do dungeons into the advernture box.

Could we please have a random grouping generator. You want to go press go and have a ticket. The game puts you in the best group for you. Go, play, win, or loose, go again, no pain. Could work on all dungeons. No calling for groups. Hooray, you want to call or go with special peeps go ahead. Group me Ill try it.

Problem with guests and overflows

End Guesting NOW. It is a failed experment. Or if you must have a guesting server where you can meet. My server is overcrowded now with players who can do the same thing on their server. Can’t do Claw yet because of overflow but had no problem before the guesting. And the new loot rules have not helped. Overflow, what difference do loot rules mean if you can’t even get in to do the event. It’s our server we should have first come first serve over guests.

I’ve done several different MMO"S and this one is beginning to be like all the others and has too many currencies. Everything tries to make you do something you probably don’t want to do in order to get what you want. You want this armor you gotta do that dungeon to get the currency. I get it, you made the game, you want people to do all the sections. But they are not going to. They are going to do what they enjoy and complain about the rest.

But the problem is you keep adding new currencies without updating the old ones. I got more karma than I need and nothing to spend it on. The karma armor is not to my liking, sorry. The cultural armor is very expensive for level 80 gold armor, when you can get exotic why bother for and achievement. Even if I do like some of the styles you can get better armor for less. You should upgrade the top level of cultural to exotic and make it the same stats as the other exotic armors. I’m not spending all that money to use the cultural for a skin on exotic armors for a look.

Give us more to spend karma on besides the armors in Orr. Give us a currency exchange. Also we need more armor styles than we currently have. My mesmer and my ele should not wear the same clothes. You took a short cut there.

I like the laurels. The stuff you can buy is good but basicly makes all the other stuff out dated. It takes about a month and a bit to get one piece of the pink gear. So to get all 5 pieces per toon you need about 8 to 9 months. A baby is easier to get.

I realize that the big Guilds need to have something to spend the influence on and this new system is nice for that. And I have no problem with that. I think the whole idea of guild missions is good but that it did not go far enough. Forgetting that small guilds would be left out and uber large guilds still bored is a problem. You cannot always only serve to the middle. You have to look to your factions and find a way to make your game include as many players as possible not just the middle. Scaling these event to the guilds seems a good way to include as many guilds as possible.

Well, I’m on Tarnished Coast and never had a problem with overflow until this new flame and frost and guesting started. With it came disconnects too, and being in the main server and then dc’d to overflow. Not a happy occurance.

This was not such a big problem at Holloween because the events happened pretty often so if you were in overflow you still got a chance to do the events. Unfortunately most of the events getting swamped only happen every 3 or 4 hours. So everyone wants to do them when they can. But what is happening is a lot of players are just giving up and not going. Leaving the area to the ones who only want to camp dragons no mater where they come from. I don’t leave my server, If my friends were on another server I would move or get them to move. I guess the really fair way to fix this is to give priority to the home server and its population. Bump the guests not the homeys. Or run the event in the overflow at the same time as the main server or right after. What’s happening now is you get to overflow which is obviously on a different timer and you wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. Then everyone gives up and goes elsewhere. Then if the event ever happens there aren’t enough players or everyone has left. Play to wait. Boring. I spend too much money on this game to be this bored. I have 4 level 80 toons I’m thinking of moving to Rift or WoW. And don’t even start with I’ll have to pay a monthy fee, it would be less than I’ve spent on gems since I started GW2.

How about some coment from Anet on this problem?

I get so sick of posting on the forums and never getting any feedback. They say they read these but I have my doubts.

Overflow is a real big problem and Tarnished Coast is being ruined because of it. If the people want to do WvW on servers that don’t PvE fine. I picked Tarnished Coast because all the PvE and Role Players were going there, so we would not have to be bothered with so much PvP. But now we get to deal with them guesting. If your friends are on another server pay the money and move. It’s that simple.

Now, the big thing is to go to overflow, get mad and mess with the timers. How childish it that.

I never had any problem with crashes until about the time they added the flame and the frost events and added the guesting. Whamp bam Crashes out the wazzoo. Every time there is a big event crash to overflow. Overflow is bad eonugh but when you came early you should have a chance to get back.

Here’s my problem with the whole Guild Mission Idea. It seems to have forgotten that SMALL GUILDS are a part of GW2. Many Guilds have 5 or less players and the new system pretty much excludes them from playing the new content. Well at least for years and years until we can earn 50,000 points to turn it on. And I pray to Dwayna that by then I’ll be playing GW3. So how about some content for THE SMALL GUILDS? There should be something for 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 people to do as a guild that could earn them something. All of the new content is for guilds that have massive players earning massive points and yes it does give them something to spend it on which is fine. But lets give the little guys something to do too.

On Tarnished Coast there was never a problem with overflow until all the guesting started. I don’t always just do dragons. I check to see what dragons are going to pop then decide what to do, if one is soon like in the next 20-30 minutes I might switch to a level 80 and go do that. But lately if you want to do Claw you need to camp for about an hour and a half. Which is boring to all. Then when it finally starts you got about a 20% chance of getting disconnected and sent to overflow when you get back. I waited in overflow last night for about an hour and 15 minutes only to have everyone leave before event started and even I gave up as waiting for an event you don’t know will happen is pretty bad.

Perhaps if you are guesting so you can play with your friends you might want to change to their server!.

Maybe guesters should not get priority over the players who live on that server. So if someone who lives on the server wants into an area it would actually bump the guest to overflow instead of the homey.

People said a lot of the overflow to TC was people on WvW servers with rotten PvE. Well, I cannot go to their worlds and WvW so why can they camp my PvE. I picked this server for a reason it was the unoffical PvE and roleplaying server. We pretty much get eaten on WvW and I’m willing to live with that. It’s harder to Map WvW and I’m willing to live with that. I feel bad while mapping WvW that I take a place that someone who wants to play could have but I try to go at open times and if there are battles I can find I always fight. I suck, but I make good cannon fodder.

This is not my first rodeo. I’ve done GW and WoW and Rift too. Most of these problems are nothing new and within each game you have factions that each have their own priority. Mine are PvE open world, leveling, quests, crafting, even a bit of WvW is OK some of the time and more and more you can’t have enough dynamic events the bigger the better. You can keep your pugged dungeons and fractals and PvP events. I want to play with people out in the open as I go not make appointments and sit around trying to find a group.

I have no problem with guesting. That is until it messes with my game. Until the last few days I had no problem going and doing the dragons. Timer counts down when it turns yellow pop over and wait for the dragon kill him get your loot and go do something else. But lately on Tarnished Coast your gonna get put into overflow. I spent 3 hours trying to do a dragon yesterday, only to finally get to do Jormag and poof in the middle of the battle disconnected and sent to purgatory or should I say overflow no chest for me. This is new and wasn’t a problem on my server until guesting. So something is Rotten in Denmark. Perhaps if its your server you should get priority over guesters and they should be sent to purgatory or overflow instead of me. I don’t go to other worlds, one is enough for me or at least it was.

I would like to do the temples down in Orr but the timers never seem to work and I haven’t been able to figure out how they work or where they start. But I guess I better start.

Yes this new content seems to be geared to BIG Guilds and Small Guilds can just live without the new content. Unfortunately many people like to play in small groups of 2 or 3 and still want to do the content since they PAID for the game.

One would think that Anet could have figured this out before they implemented the new content. But to be fair I don’t have any problem with having stuff for BIG Guilds to do but it would be nice if there was stuff SMALL Guilds could do too.

The greatsword is a wonderful way for a mesmer to use a weapon. She takes a bashing weapon and channels her power through it. Use the force Luke! Simple and practical and at the same time powerful. Smart like a Mesmer!

Why would someone want ascended gear if they don’t want to do fractals or dungeons? I’ll tell you the same thing I told the WoW players because it’s there. We paid for a Dynamic open world game in this. I am extremely concerned that it is getting way too centered on instance dungeons and leaving the dynamic aspects slide. We had one big event, the karka one. But there should be a big fight like that at least once a week if not more often somewhere in the world.

The new ongoing story looks hopeful but I’m somewhat concerned that the information being handed out is so obtuse players will miss it. A count down timer for important events would be nice so everyone in every timezone is always on the same page.

Rumors, sorry don’t believe much of what I hear and only about half of the rest. When I see it in the game I’ll believe it.

Monthlys are fun and I like doing them. Just hate dungeons and PUGS. Dynamic game means getting away from instances and dungeons and fractals not MORE!!!!!! But for a few months now monthlys required dungeons or fractals at least 3 times. I just want a chance to particapate once in a while. And what’s wrong with scaling dungeons and fractals to number of players. If it’s just as hard for 2 as 5 or 10 or 25 what’s the difference.

I was awaiting the new Feb. monthlys hoping you would get away from forcing players into fractal and dungeon instances and into more dynamic happenings. But, alas, NO ! Just like WoW you seem bound and determined to force us to PUG instance dungeons. Well, if that’s what I wanted to do I could have stayed on WoW.

I liked doing the monthly the first couple of months. Then you discovered you needed to force us into dungeons and fractals since you made them, but lots of us are not interested in them. You can scale our toons up or down to an area why can’t you scale the dungeons or fractals to the 2, 3.or 4 people we have to do them instead of instead of insisting on PUGs of 5. I have one other person I’d do them with, but, no you have PUG on the brain here too.

I’d like to be able to do the monthlys again!!! But as long as you insist on part of them being PUG’s for fractals and dungeons I’m out. I don’t even like the WvW but it’s more fun than the PUG’s and it at least has a dynamic aspect to it.

I know some people like this stuff but there are a lot who don’t. Perhaps you could give us 7 monthly options and we need to complete 5 of them. That way the people who like the dungeons could do them and those of us who would like more dynamic stuff could do that too.

This sounds good and could be fun. But the big question is it going to be retroactive? Do I just stop playing until it goes into effect? I’ve got lots of toons and would hate to have all their hard work be for not when the new system goes into effect.

1. Special event countdown timer. You had that one time special event and there was confusion over when it would be. It would be nice if you put a count down timer in the orange print to make it clear to everyone when it will happen across all time zones. Then you have no confusion and time zones and daylight savings make no difference.

2. Stop trying to force us to do dungeons. When you allow heros or level the dungeons to number of players, I’ll do the dungeons. Pugs are not for me. So stop putting dungeons and fractals in monthlys.

3. Thanks for the better storage. Take it a bit further though and allow a dedicated space for secondary crafted items brilliant snowflakes and dowels and insignias.

4. Let us buy more storage in the bank than you now allow. I like to keep my stuff and have it for other toons. I’d rather buy more bank slots than another storage character.
