I could care less about fractals and 5 man instances. I think they are useless and boring. But if you must have them go ahead, just don’t make it so I feel I need to do them. Don’t hide must have items and crafting mats inside them in ordet to force players to participate. There should always be more than one way to skin the cat.
So if you don’t enjoy doing one thing you can do something you enjoy more and get the same items. Equally as hard to achieve but different.
Crafting if fun and I like it very much. But it can get confusing and convoluted. Especially now that your trying to tie it to doing events. Instead of mining ore you have to get it from certain events.
I was disappointed with The whole Wintersday Event so far. And Halloween to some extent. But Halloween is a bit better because of the PvE arena which is sadly lacking in the Wintersday Event. Instead it goes back to the boring old 5 man instance.
I do enjoy the Yak Event except you have to pay for it. But you do get some nice presents.
But for the most part with these repeat events that’s what they are REPEATS. You need to build on last years event and add more to this years event. Not just add follow the yak. You seem to remove as much as you add at present. If you did all the mini’s last year you only take the deluxe Wintersday gift with 100 giant gifts in it. There is nothing special for this year.
You need to work on the idea of this is what we did this last year so how do we make it bigger and better. Instead of working on the idea that, Ok, Wintersday and Halloween are done we did most of it last year so let’s add 5 cents worth of content and move along to January 21st.
We just expect better than that from you. Also, as someone who actually buys a lot of gems. A lot of gems. I expect more of you. This game probably costs me 10 times what my monthly cost to another game is. 8000 gems is 100 dollars. A yearly subscription to the main competition was running me about 120 dollars a year.
Cogs still drop but as vendor trash.
TRY playing on split keyboard. I dare you to try and reach 6.
Yes for every gold donated in game Anet will give a real dollar to Red Cross.
Also If you have black lion keys you get Wintersday boxes from them and I think that’s where I got my pattern. I had 60 boxes and got the back piece.
Also If you learned it on the wrong toon I would put in a ticket they might let you move it. It would be worth a shot. All they can say is NO! And you won’t be any worse off.
Actually, the achievement were pretty easy to get if you just played along with the other players. It was a lot of work and a lot harder to get than most PvE living story installments. I started late and got most of the stuff done in a little over 2 and a half weeks of pretty extreme playing of 4-12 hours a day. The hardest to do was the merc camps, yaks and sentrys. Yaks and Sentrys because I’m slow and by the time I get there in a zerg the yaks are dead, the Sentrys were better because you didn’t need to actually kill them just get in the circle. The merc camps was the worst you had to figure out how to do them then every time one turned gray you had to stop everything you were doing and go kill a destroyer or harpie. Which is kitten the group playing as you have a different goal. The rest I just went with the zergs did what the commanders asked and eventually I got them. Getting into the EB was challenging at times. But I would get into line then go to whatever battlefield was available and either zerg if there was one available there or just work on yaks and sentrys.
Achievements are going to be a fact of life in GW2. Better get used to it. I like it because it gives me goals. It focuses me on doing a progression of things to get what I want.
I personally think they should have given you a piece of ascended armor in the chest. I got 9 level 80 toons one piece of armor is not gonna break the back of the loot system. But If you give out a piece of ascended in WvW the PvE players are going to want one too. Mark my words. The Dungeon Runners and Fractal Fanatics are going to get on the band wagon and want the same thing. And then the Living story players are gonna want in on the loot too.
Maybe they should just give everyone a nice Christmas Present for taking part in the game and playing and making it a nice place to play in.
Well, the talk was different on my server the day the new fractal achievements started. All I could hear was the cursing over PvE players abandoning them to do the fractals. Bu alas, I could care less about fractals and 5 man instances so I stayed and took sentry after sentry after sentry, after yak after yak after yak, after merc camp after merc camp after merc camp. I worked pretty hard.
I did get an ascended weapon drop somewhere along the way in a box that was cool. I never got one in PvE.
I liked the Mini Yak. He’s cute but you can buy one with gems that has a Christmas appearance.
But I did expect one something special in the end chest that would make it worthwhile. And that just didn’t happen.. It was a let down. Like a Christmas stocking full of coal.
First congrats! As your cannon fodder I salute you! Nice video and even better you took the time and effort to thank everyone who helped. Good Work and better Team Work!
Not an extreme WvW here but I worked pretty hard to finish this achievement. I did not really believe I could finish it until I did about 3 days before the end. It took me a little over 2 weeks of pretty constant play to finish about 8-12 hours a day.
But I liked the Mini Yak. But if the rewards are going to be the same. No I don’t think I would do it again. I expected at least one nice piece of something, one ascended weapon or armor piece. Maybe in the higher worlds they got better stuff but we did come in 3rd. The crafting Items were nice. But besides that I got 4 golds and and a bunch of greens. Now since the ascended stuff anything exotic or below is just salvage fodder or vendor trash.
I worked very hard to get the armor I use in this game. But I’m not sure why. Since it’s pretty useless in the newer areas like Tequatl and The new Tower and even to some extent the new Claw. Especially the light armor. Even after redoing my armor and upping toughness quite a bit, I’m tired of being one shotted by mobs. Or even worse living through the first shot only to be thrown into some Area effect that by the time you can stand again your dead.
Let me tell you Bang and Your Dead is NOT FUN in any context.
Now, I realize your going to put in ascended and Legendary Armor but I have a feeling nothing will change.
At least in Claw if you die people will res you. In the tower if you stop to res someone your dead too. The revive orbs are useless as others will run mobs on you as you res and your dead again.
I’m not asking for equality here just a fighting chance. And if the state of the game is going to be running through mobs all the time you need to seriously buff light and medium armor to be as good as heavy.
There are many good things about this patch that I enjoy. But Anet has a way of encouraging bad behavior in players. They need to decide how they really feel about The Zerg and Soloing. Because here in this area we have a completely confusing mess of contrary ideology.
You have solo instances that are impossible to get to without a big group of players.
You have players who would rather run to an area than fight their way through. People are lazy and will almost always take the easy way. You have light armor users who cannot run the gauntlet as easily as the heavy armor users. So light armor users are at a big disadvantage. You have players with speed buffs who are have an advantage over ones who don’t. You have an every man for himself atmosphere.
Then you expect these same players when they get to the top to actually group with the other people who made it. After everyone walked over the bodies of the others. I almost feel you should reward the players who died and not the ones who finish.
Then you nerfed the end so it cannot be soloed. I did it with you engineer the first day but the second day the helpers were gone and you could not even get by the vets let alone the Hybrid.
This dungeon could have been amazing but instead it’s just a model for bad behavior. I would rather work my way through methodically killing everything myself than just run through. But you really have no option because of the spawn rate being so high and the fact that others will run mobs up you behind if you go slow enough to kill any thing.
I used 3 revive orbs in there today only to have some idiot run a mob into me and kill me before I could run.
You created a nation of runners in GW1 and it continues here in GW2 today. Your player base doesn’t really want group dungeons but you seem to and a small group of vocal players do.
You created a nation of soloists but then you want them to work together in this instance and Tequatl.
I realize you put in stopping points to group players. The first big fight you have to do before you go on and others. But there are no stopping points to wait for others to help. And I don’t even blame players for not stopping to rez someone as it’s a death sentence for both instead of just one.
Yes, it is very low. Any you can buy one of each color key piece a day from the vendor. But it would have been nice if you could buy 3 key pieces of any color instead of just one of each. That way you could use the vendor to complete sets. You might need 2 red keys to complete your sets for the day or 2 reds and a green would give you 2 whole keys.
Well, It’s been 18 days since I posted this and today I went back on Monday about 12:30 in the afternoon. There were about maybe 8 players in Tarnished Coast, not an overflow, doing this boss. I think most people were pretty much standing around waiting for the timer to go off so they could get the daily for doing the battle.
They should just put it back. As it is it just is a waste of time. The way they did it for the new event it has not structure. Players don’t know how to work together enough they need a linear way to work through the battle. You gotta think outdoor dungeon!!!!! The event needs steps to accomplish that build up the doing him. And each step takes at bit off him and makes him easier to kill.
It needs to be separated into about 8-10 smaller events. That can be accomplished by maybe escalating group of players. If there’s 10 people it’s this hard but if there’s 60 then it’s 6x as hard, Some of the events could be happening at the same time so the group would have to split up. More like Claw.
Seems many of the tonics I would like to get rid of are account bound. I would love to sell them on TP. Hell, I would give them away.
Last year we could turn tonics into Mad King Chests. Why o Why can’t we do it this year. Now I like a tonic as well as the next guy but I happen to have a ton of them and all they really do is take up room in storage. And this was a good way to get rid of some of them since they are account bound and pretty much useless. So please put the Mad King Chests back or give us something to do with the tonics besides turn them into other tonics. The chests actually contained things you could use or want.
I enjoy crafting as long as the materials are not restricted. That is only found one place. I want the mats to be pretty available from more than one source. I don’t want to be forced into 5 man dungeons for a crafting mat. As long as there is a place in the dynamic world to get it it’s fine.
Absolutely not their too busy working on Wildstar to even give a puppy about furthering GW2.
The very best thing about GW2 is it got rid of traditional roles. It gave everyone an equal footing.
Bad group cohesion is from bad leadership.
No one wants to play 5 man groups any more. We want dynamic play. Get rid of the instances.
Sorry! I just do not agree. This was a revamp of an existing dungeon that no one was doing and in a few days it will be just as empty. All the dungeons are empty and you can put all the spin on them you want but it won’t make them any fuller.
I think I am on a pretty populated server but I went back today and it was still empty. I’m not sure what the problem is I’m also pretty sure it has been beaten on my server. But, I do think that once someone does it they pretty much have had it and don’t go back. It’s not worth the time, effort, or trouble.
Yes this is a problem. Also it is hard to tell if you are actually doing damage. It would be nice if there was a line above the map that had numbers of damage and damage given. Always in the same place. You can keep it as it is most of the time it’s fine but sometimes a second place to check would be nice.
Last I looked Tequatl was empty so I don’t think it was quite the success you think. The first few days it was quite busy and I could never get into my server. I just quit trying best we did in a very organized overflow was about 45% left. No one won enough so they quit coming. Just what we need in the other events make them so hard nobody plays them. They already have been revamped a bit and made harder.

Adding on a program to your existing software is always a problem. Your game client will never support it. Sorry but that’s the way it is. It’s obviously something you use and think of as a good idea. You just want to get it from outside the game.
I don’t like add ons as they have in the past messed up my computer. I prefer to use items that can and should be incorporated into the game.
I don’t quite understand how your feel this will overcrowd the game. You feel the need to use it as an add on but if someone else wants the same advantage it will overcrowd the game. Goose and Gander there.
And as I stated it might overcrowd at first but after a few weeks, I feel it will go back. And the timers would be accurate and not approximate. And if overflow versions are needed Anet has already addressed that in the Scarlet Overflows.
You long on. Go to a toon. Check the Event Schedule and timer.
You get at tab with a list of all the events that are happening for the next 4 hours. I’m talking major events. Claw, Temples, Tequatl, SB, Elemental. Jungle Wurm, Shatterer, Maw, Megadestryer, etc, etc, etc. Not the little stuff like get the bandits off the bridge.
You decide what you want to do. Lets say you can play for an hour and a half.. In that time you can do kitten and Temple of Balt is happening. So you click both those and timers come up in corner of Achievements and you can see them counting down. Then you can work on your dailies until it’s time to go to kitten or the Temple. Under each it should list the prevents and give the closest waypoints.
Ok so this way it’s not a big mysterious secret how to do Temples. You look at Balt and see a list of prevents sending you when and where they are starting and off you go. Abracadabra you can join in the event. And actually have an opportunity to do it and maybe even win if enough players show up. But you now if it fails as it says which pre event failed by looking in your schedule. So no more standing around waiting for something to start. You just go early enough to make sure prevents are done.
Civilization meets GW2. Instead of hurry up and wait it’s hurry up and play. Yes for a couple of weeks events would probably be crowded but it would event out. They could look into overflow events like scarlet if they had to. But realistically have you seen how empty Tequatl is now! We are a jaded fair weather mess of players who are rousted by the newest shiny. Shiny, Shiny, OOH Shiny!
The cultural armor is pretty useless who in their right mind would spend all that money for armor when exotic is cheaper. They need to upgrade it to ascended.
Who needs them. I’d give them to you but they are soulbound.
It seems that a few weeks after the big boss week this event is a major fail. Most people having tried to do it many times just gave up and left. Kind of like the whole dungeon thing.
I went back today to try it again and me and the other player trying to do it were having a bit of trouble just the 2 of us. So what went wrong? Was it just too hard?
1. People want to have fun and winning is fun, loosing all the time is not so much fun.
2. That’s a lot of people to organize into a unit. Split into 3-5 determined groups and have to work together. Especially when you have trained us that doing damage is the only way to get loot, you set us up to believe that if we stay here protecting these guns we will reap the same rewards even if we never hit the boss. Well, Pavlov you missed the mark there.
3. Split the event into 3 or 4 separate events. With the boss take down at the end after we have done some of the objectives. Make it more linear a to b to c to d. Like, objective one to take back and repair the guns. And give the guns some range and bigger AoE. Lots of the guns cannot reach the Zerg they are trying to buff. Tequatl’s AoE is about 20 times the AoE of the guns. Objective two take back and repair the batteries. Three take out the boss. More like the Claw events.
4. I’m not really fond of going down in one hit by anything. Your feared, swamped and burned in the red circles before you even know what hit you. Even after changing out my armor for lots more toughness it still is pretty bad for medium armor in the pack.
I admit I’m a stand and deliver kind of fighter not a run and jumper. But there’s not many places to run to, mostly you get pushed around by tides my little Azura can’t even jump over. So since it fits my fighting style more I try to defend the guns. Which a lot of players seem to want to do and the guns get overprotected and Champs form and you loose.
5. Give us an in game event schedule. So those of us who want to do events can show up easily. And we can plan out time for optimal playing. Yes I know there are adds you can use but an in game schedule would be accurate and better.
6. A reward worth having. You need to make the reward something everyone wants. Don’t make the mistake you did in the Scarlet event and make loosing better than winning. There are plenty of places to do Champ Zergs we don’t need to turn events into them. The dynamic events are the best part of the game!!!!

Here’s the trouble. The reason I stay away from these maddening dungeons. I wish they would just stop putting them in the game. I wish there was some content for the rest of us to do that don’t want to put up with the idiots who love dungeons. As far as I’m concerned 5 man dungeons are the bane of the game.
AFK Players are also a big problem and maybe even more of a problem than guesting. They should put in a slider a minute before the battle starts. You have 30 seconds to click this to remain in the area if you do not click you will be returned to LA! Bad guys out, Players wanting to actually play in.
For more than a week I’ve been stuck in overflow loosing the event. It sure would be nice if I could try it on my server. I gone over an hour and a half early and still cannot get into my server. What’s the point of having servers if you can never get to them because players are camped there from other servers guesting. Places for guests should only open when there is room and players on that server should always get priority over a guest. Yes, I mean boot the guest for the player on that server. I picked my server and like it, I have no reason to guest somewhere else.
Yeah it’s a bummer. People are squatting on my server and you can never get in. They just stay in the main area and never turn off their computers. What’s even worse than that sometimes players away during the battle even in overflow. They are so bored waiting they walk away and miss the battle.
Me too but your all on my server and I can’t get in.
Perhaps they did this for a reason. That reason being to keep those condition players out there defending the turrets. That’s what I do with my condition fighter. Protect the turrets or try to.
I think the point of the battle is there are different things to accomplish. Protect the turrets. Do scale damage and buff with the turrets. Kill Tequatl. Get the batteries protected. All are parts of the battle. But as far as I can see your not penalized for doing your part. If you want the glam job of killing him switch to a toon that doesn’t use so much condition damage.
Actually I feel the glam job and the hardest is to protect those turrets. Because if you can’t keep them up your dead in the water.
I can’t even get into the battle on my server and your worried about not getting loot. I’d settle for just not doing it in overflow once and having a chance of winning.
All I know is I can never get into my home server to play the battle. I get in overflow every time. Players are camped in the zone for hours and never leave. I don’t know if the problem is guesting or just too many players wanting to do the content.
The day I paid a commander to lead a battle is the day the underworld freezes over.
People in this game are the worst scammers. They were awful in GW and I guess they are looking for ways to do it here too in GW2. My overall opinion is they do it because Arena Net lets them get away with it. Now, I realize many of the scams from GW1 have been eliminated and I applaud the game for taking care of it. But Because they were lax in GW1 the scammers think they can get away with it here.
While playing WoW it was common for players to give other players materials to craft things for them. You needed boots and could not craft them yourself you would call out and someone with the pattern would answer. You would give him the mats and you would get your boots a few minutes later. You could always tip the crafter but often they did not even ask for it. In GW1 if you did this you would get laughed out of the district and be told you were an idiot for trusting someone like that. The scams in GW1 were legendary. Arena Net needs to learn how to police better and keep this crap out of the game.
What to do:
1. Kill the bad guy!
2. Keep yourself alive as long as possible.
3.Buff, Aid, Res, and keep your allies alive.
If you can do that, you should be fine and doing a good job.
Oh, you all are so spoiled. Finishing 100% is so easy. Even I’ve done the WvW on 6 or 7 toons. You just have to go every week to get the different colors. Go back and do GW1 and try mapping. You had to go to each area and face you toon to the wall and slowly and methodically trace your way around the entire area while sweeping your head in every direction to find every little cranny to open. Then, you had to find everything inside the area. And were talking tiny little 1/100 of a view counting. Then, there were hidden areas and secret passages you had to find by walking into walls and through mountains. You could literally have the whole map uncovered but not have enough to finish without all the edges and secrets. Yes there was a bit of wiggle room but when you did it, it was an accomplishment.
Just goes to show what one person finds easy another finds difficult and boring. Give me all the mapping and hearts and vistas and chevrons and keep the 5 man pug dungeons and fractals.
There is a long history of them doing this and it’s never changed and I don’t see it changing now or ever. In GW1 you had Panda’s, Destroyers, and lots of others. But the gem store would be a wonderful place for them to make available to everyone something nice.
I do have a level 80 Charr but as a GW1 person I too had a hard time with them until I remember Pyre Fierceshot. But he did always call me Meat. But the centaurs always called me Two Legs.
But I must say he jus plain sucks at jumping puzzles. And their armor could be better. But I’ve gotten used to my Guardian Charr and he’s kind of OK now. I did buy him one of those helms we got in Airship but even that is iffy.
Monks on strike in Thunderhead Keep! That’s your answer. Once in GW all the monks refused to do one of the hardest challenge points in the game. GW was built around 8 man instance progress points. And Thunderhead Keep way a very big progress point you had to finish that to progress to the next area and if you did not get through there you were sunk.
So one day the Monks or Healers decides they weren’t gonna take it any more and went on strike. You see they were tired of people screaming at them to learn how to heal and basically expecting that no matter what idiotic thing they did some poor monk would heal them. Also since a monk is not hitting as much as a DPS or Tank they never got a very fair share of the loot.
So Arena in this instance with infinite wisdom has made everyone equal. Everyone Hits, Everyone Heals, Everyone helps Res or they should. The Unholy trinity sucked and I for one am glad it’s gone and never want to see it again.
How about being able to buy Dungeons Tokens too! Because if you could buy one you should be able to buy the other. Really are you nuts. The chances of this happening are slim to none. GW2 wants you to play in all areas of the game. That’s why to make your legendary you have to do a bit of everything. You get enough of the WvW tokens in the chest as you play and do achievements. I got so many now I don’t know what to do with them.
They want to keep players going to areas they don’t enjoy to keep them populated. I think they would be better off giving everyone a way to achieve without this policy but it is what it is. A person hates WvW, why make him map it? A person hates Dungeons and Fractals and 5 man pugs, why make him do them? Because that’s the way it is and I don’t see it ever changing. Arena it invested in a diverse game and wants diverse players who do everything. I think a lot of players could live without Dungeons and Fractals and PvP and WvW too. I like the open dynamic world events like The one time Karka event and the Scarlet Invasions. And I wish a way to achieve a legendary was possible no matter what your play style is, but it’s not and the most vocal players like it that way.
I’m not the 24/7 zerger some are, but I will spend a hour here or there following along. I have been in a few where they were so big that you hardly got a chance to hit the champ before he was dead and since you did little or no damage you don’t get the loot. Then speed is a problem as some toons go faster than others. But the running zergs are not so hard to do. The Way Point ones get lagged when so many players are all going to the same place. Usually, to solve this slowness problem In Frostgorge I will do the first three starting with the fish. Then I will skip the worm as I almost never get there in time and just go to the drake. Then there is usually a nice Mesmer who has put a portal up at the troll and I can get there when he’s about half gone. If no Mesmer I’ll just skip the troll and go wait at the fish. This way I’ll get 4 of 6 and get to breath too.
There are many ways to play this game. But this game was advertised as a dynamic open world event oriented one. Not a closed instance dungeon one. If I would have wanted instance dungeons I would have stayed in WoW.
But my biggest problem with dungeons and some of the players who do them is they think they are bigger, and better than any one else. They refuse to believe that any other way could be fun or productive or valid. They did it this way, so it shall be for ever and always.
Put in a ticket you will get your money back. I did the same thing months ago and they refunded my gems and I just threw away the item in my storage.
The problem is the crafting mats in the chest everyone needs and the high volume times everyone want to play. They tied Dragonite ore to Event Boss Chests and Empyreal Fragments to Splendid Chests and jumping puzzles. So the boss event starts in Frostgorge and players go for the ore not the chest. But keep in mind that now pretty much 24/7 you have a huge group of players zerging champs. Which is fine but those players probably count to how many can be in the area especially since they usually do the troll very near Claw.
The best solution would be to do a 10 minute window for the Event like the Scarlet Invasions. Give us an in game timer to plan our gameplay so we could decide what events we want to do. We click a tab and can look at the event schedule for the next 4-6 hours and see Claw is in 20 minutes. So in 20 minutes we have 10 minutes to get to Frostgorge or an overflow to do the event. That’s fair for everyone.
I actually get that many of you like dungeons and playing with 4 players. I also get that you think that they are the be all and end all of difficulty and skill in playing. But my opinion is your wrong and we’re never going to agree. Why is it not possible for you to understand that many of us hate it and enjoy playing in the world in groups of many different sizes that happen at the moment. Or soloing! Dynamic and Spontaneous. You can grasp the idea of a 5 man dungeon but cannot grasp the idea of a open world event that is just as hard. JUST AS HARD! And that’s what I don’t understand is if it’s just as hard what difference does it make what rewards are used. Are you really that selfish that you cannot grasp the fact that someone who plays in a different style is just a valid as yours.
The dungeon system is too rigid and don’t tell me there is not a system. A Tank, a Healer and 3 DPS, I get it, I’ve done it, and it’s just well, boring for me. And yes, one nice thing about GW2 is everyone is quite capable of healing themselves some what. I’ve been in a few dungeons where the leader took us through and actually knew what he was doing and called targets, and helped the newer players through. But more often I’ve been in dungeons where players just ran through kind of like a 5 man zerg, were intolerant of some one who did not know every little detail. They were rude and nasty and hollered at everyone and were only too willing to tell everyone else how to play. Sorry, not my style. I want to avoid this at all cost. Life is too short for this kind of stress in a game.
I want the open dynamic world GW2 was intended to be.
The whole currency thing is my way of saying I think there are too many in the game. The wallet helps but does not include all currencies. Instead of adding a different currency for every area I thought of using ones that already existed. As a kind of example pick any dungeon, it would stay its regular 5 man version. But added would be a big just as hard world event that coordinated with the dungeon story. So you got a dungeon and an Event for that dungeon. Two things to do and not just one. You could play inside or outside or both and still achieve.
Don’t you get sick of doing the same area over and over again and again, looking for a few tears of belt buckles or buttons. Would it not be nice to do something new and exciting that also rewarded you with your buttons or whatever.
But some how this is demeaning to you and insulting. I’m for inclusion where you are for exclusion. I’m for big where you are for small. I like playing in a world with lots of people and you like to hide in the corner with your 4 friends.
Continue coins from chests really
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Myst Dawnbringer.9138
Talk about useless. I bought a forever continue coin. So now all my toons are getting continue coins from the splendid and better chests. Talk about useless. The very least you could give us some way to turn them into baubles or bauble-baubles. A few baubles would be better than a continue coin, now it’s just something to sit in storage.
