Melee’d the dredge boss with my group made up on Two Warriors, Two Guardians, and a Thief. Easy peasy.
Now i realize you have no idea what you are doing and the people kicking you had good reasons. You cannot melee that dredge not because he hits you hard, but because you need to constantly kite him under the lava buckets, or else he will recover his HP.
Daily rewards? What did you mean by that? Also how many times can i loot that level 10 jade maw chest? Can i repeat infinitely or is it a one time?
i have personally dc’ed 4 times at about the end of scale 1, so i know how frustrating this is.
but letting u back in there with the rest of ur pt is not an option. all you would have to do would be to relog and re-enter everytime you die in there. making the fractals impossible to fail, kinda defeats the purpose of not having waypoints in there.
Make people comeback dead at the checkpoint if they get out. Or make them spawn on the very beginning of the dungeon, making the whole run to the boss difficult and long if they decide to log off to revive. There are hundreds of ways of fixing this without breaking the mechanics of the dungeon. Let’s see if arenanet is capable of doing them.
Right now, i can’t get past level 3 because there is a 50% chance of me crashing at some point. It particularly happens during maps transition. And there is always someone in my party that crashes and dc as well.

Just saw some of those new “unique loot”. It is just accessories and back items, nothing to get excited for. Chests still gives the same useless crap they always gave. Nothing really changed aside from the nice extra 1200 karma and 9 tokens.
Well better be back to orr i guess. WAIT…they nerfed plinx too… -_-. Next victim will probably be penitent/jofast and shelter effectively killing any way of making money on this game.
By special drops you mean unique drops Hrouda or just random exotics?
But you see Hrouda, the problem wasn’t that we weren’t getting unique items, the problem is that i ran dungeon over 200 times and i have never seen a exotic drop for me. This patch won’t mean a thing if we are just keeping getting blues and whites all the time from chests and the good stuff still remains a 0.001% chance. And people will still skip those bosses if they can.
I’m not saying i want an exotic every run…i’m just saying the time spent there is always bad compared to just farming on good old Orr and buy what i want.
Probably after we finish the first set of events that will unlock the island
..the interest of all the others. I mean, anyone remember the Halloween and how everyone and their mother were only running MK chests?
It is already hard enough now to find party for certain dungeons like Arah, CoE and sorrow embrace. The new dungeon will effectively kill them all. No one will want to run old dungeons that give bad loot, specially since the new one will offer the new gear and progressively better rewards. I understand that some will still want the skins but the majority, like seen in the Halloween, will completely ignore them.
Unless…the dungeon dev team reworked the rewards from the other dungeons as well. Adding more choices to use the tokens would be great like Molten lodestones from Sorrow embrace.

Unique loot to chests in each area and champions. Give people incentive to roam other areas. And scale the rewards for events and equips. No one wants to get level 30 gear as 80
And yet you took the possible way and outcome to increase our endgame time. From what i’m seeing in the new content, it looks like we will need to raid a new dungeon if we ever hope to stay up to date in gear. And this goes against everything you promised us not to do.
What is wrong? haven’t you learned anything at all from GW1? There are better ways of handling this. You could have revamped the loot from champions/areas/chest and added unique loot to them like Gw1 had(remember green items?). It would incentive people to get out of orr and do different dynamic events. Or even added something called event points which rewards people for doing different events on the course of a week. At end you could trade for materials and new skins.
But from what i’m seeing, we will just flock to the new area/dungeon instead of Orr. Meanwhile all the other areas will remain mostly untouched because it isn’t worthy to come back.
People are talking like that the other mats to make a legendary is so easy to get. You still need 120 gold and about 1 million karma, plus everything else and maybe even lodestones which is equally expensive of a precursor. Even if arenanet decided to give precursors like candy to people, grinding for all the rest takes a long kitten time.
I’m very happy that they decided to address the precursors, even if they decide to add an absurd recipe to make them, it is still better than playing lottery on the forge.
The exploits he is talking about was the whole fiasco with the karma weapons costing only 23 karma and the godskulls exploit which rewarded very high chances for a dusk/twilight.
What arenanet did? They asked people to delete their items, more than 5000. Well they were permanently banned at first, but only end up with a slap on the wrist with 3 days ban later. Hard to believe arenanet monitored everyone to make sure they deleted all the crap. After all this chaos, we got the mystic forge nerf in attempt to not devalue the precursors prices.
Actually narko, most people that have a legendary now most likely played the TP since the release or were alpha players(and some cases squeezed money and donations from their guildies, i know 5 that did that).
In matter of fact, the first legendary was made by an alpha player, so he knew the prices would rise. But now…everything that made money on the TP was already exploited and abused to back and hell.
So unless you have a good income, there is nothing much you can do on the TP.

He is talking about the abysmal drop rate and unfeasible prices of the precursors John, not the currency exchange.
What he meant is that most precursors are sitting on 250+ gold. And if you want it, you have 2 options. Grind your life out for the money or play lottery in the forge. If you pay a visit to the crafting legendary topic, you would know that the house always wins in gambling.
So what’s option do we have left? Buying from the TP. And what people will do in the most circumstances after seeing the prices? Buy from gold sellers. At least those that have jobs and can’t play 12 hours per day.
People are cornered John. They don’t see a reasonable choice to get said weapons, so they rely on gold sellers.
And Narkosys is right. There are already a few gold sellers site specialized in legendary precursors. And they have the necessary investment to manipulate and control the limited market. It is currently the only big gold sink of the game.

Question, i read one time event on the site. Does it mean the whole area with everything else will disappear after?
The point of the relatively small amount of resources we put toward JPs are meant to bring more people in, not trade one demographic for another.
But that’s exactly what you are doing here. You are dumbing down mechanics of the game to appease to the casual mass. And believe me, you will lose players this way too. People will be mad that you can just do events by smashing your face onto the keyboard. And then classify the event/holiday as extremely boring. I bet this holiday was special to a lot of people due to the hard to do jumping puzzle; It was truly something you could call achievement. In matter of fact, act 2 was the best part of the halloween for me.
The one thing I miss is him killing you!

When I was building it I thought it would be in poor taste to break people’s armor. So he brings you down to 1% health instead.
You could have made him randomly teleport you to a very high place. Raining people, that would be hilarious hahaha. Too late now.
Gift of “Legendary name” often cost the same or more than prescursor at the moment due to increasing lodestone prices. My gift of bolt (250 ingot, 250 gossamer, 100 charged, gift of metal, 100 runestones) has a worth of 400g right now.
Honestly, precursor pricing (with many in the lower 200gs right now) is hardly a problem in legendary weapon crafting. Sunrise and Twilight will always be in high demand and remain more expensive than most legendaries, and the high cost of the legend is a non-issue with how dirt cheap the gift of bifrost is. Every other precursor is easily within striking range if you are smart with your resources.
You can farm for charged lodestones. Getting a full set of Crucible of eternity yield me 30 of them
How about a hard mode ala GW1 for dungeons? But make it HARD, like Jon mentioned before, be completely unpuggable. Go full blown masochist and unforgivable for doing mistakes. Because as of now, i had no troubling pugging every dungeon with exception of CoE and Arah.
But i’m not talking about just a stats upgrade. A overhaul of all bosses with new attacks and anti zerg mechanics. Another arah with bone walls and respawning enemies on minefield camps, more bosses like Subject alpha that needs you to keep on your toe.
One example is Kholer from AC: Remove his glowing mechanic for his spinning attack and add ghostly sparks that will drop all over the place chilling foes for 10s. People will forced to pay attention to his animation and dodge at right time. Add a spirit wall to his arena to force the party to fight him there with his minions. Instead of just leashing everything.
For all the trouble, up the rewards, give us a chance of getting precursors on the chests. I’m not asking for a 10% but something reasonable and above 0,01%.
The forum would be flooded with people talking about how they can’t complete said content, just like what happened the clocktower.
But yea i agree that adding a hard mode to let’s say, dungeon, with chance of precursors would be nice.
I had it happened 2 times when i reached the toppest part and waited for the lightning to strike. I waited too much and when the water was about to kick me out i jumped forward making me fall and fall and hit the ground. Could complete the puzzle without any worries afterward.
I have to admit, the rate was very high and was impacting the economy massively. But they overdid on the nerf. They could have made the bosses spawn only once every 6 hours or something.
There is no point in staying there aside from completing your halloween achievements now.

I was wondering, i got a few of those doing dungeons but…they only gave me 5 copper. I asked a bunch of friends, and it is the same for them. Is this working as intended or bugged?
It’s just feel strange since they are so rare, and yet give meaningless money.
It seems that recent patch has broken AC. I found two bugs today and yesterday. Yesterday, ghost eater wouldn’t spawn and i had the same problem than you on the spikes part
Today, we didn’t receive the reward when we finished path 3 and Kholer quest didn’t trigger when we approached hin from a different position. After someone walked into the stairs, the quest triggered.
We had a server reset…now is the time to do it.

Can you also take a look at mine? i’m crashing when i change maps, it is not often but it happens everyday. I also happens during big fights like wvw. I do not experience framerate issues or the like, just random crashes. Dungeons too.
Saw in other thread about lyndsey giving a tip of how to get it. It is from a chest on orr. I bet all my gold that is one the chest of that eye of zhaitan event that no one does.
That lightning trait that shoots from toolbelts does not work when you throw elixirs. Rather, it works but it don’t hit anyone.

@Nebilim, you should see it as how many hours do you have to spend in-game to get 1 gold. Say it´s 1 hour in-game to get 1 gold. Now let´s say you are working and you get $10 a hour.
So spending $10 on 800 gems which you can sell for 3.44 gold seems very fair to me.
It is unfair not in the sense that you are not getting enough for what you paid, i meant because of the competition. With 43 dollars, you can buy 100 gold on the shady sources. More money being tossed in the market, more money being spent on the gems for gold and inflating the prices even more.

That will depend if the gem to gold conversion is also controlled by us. Because let’s be honest John, with the current rates, gold sellers are winning by very far. And i doubt the current controlled market has any effect. No one wants to use it and everyone that i talk about it says the same. They would never spend tons of money for just a couple of silver.
At this pace, the gold for gems will continue to rise as more and more people buy them, while no one is using the gem for gold. Since the current controlled prices is extremely unfair. As right now, I can buy 100 gems with 60 silver. And I can sell it for 43 silver. I could see me spending if it were 1 gold. 10 dollars=8 gold. Seems fair enough for me with the current prices of the TP.
What if you decided to momentarily raise the exchange rate of gem for gold? Double, triple it. The demand for it would rise fast and stabilize the inflated gold for gem prices. Just enough to calm, then go back to the normal prices. People will be tempted to use it as it is limited, and with no need to rely on shady sources. Then again it might inflate the trading post with so much gold being pooled. But since it is momentarily, the economy might recover.
Haha, either way it looks like everything is screwed. Anet certainly don’t want players buying too much gems with gold, but they also don’t want the economy to be injected with too much gold. Either way, gold sellers are there, and i knew they would screw up that conversion. Anet need to stay competitive with them and offer better deals.
Glad i didn’t move hahaha. I guess i will just wait…it isn’t like i’m still have all the mats anyway.

It was greatly done. Vast amount of info ranging from biology to just random tidbits about the monster in question. Doing this might expand the lore of several places, objects and people.
They just need to add pre set recipe to fix the inflation. The market is flooded with rage of rage, so the prices are still down there, 50 gold for one. Nobody buys it and everyone is undercutting.
Make it require every single gift of dungeon or 4 of them, plus 250 ectos, mystic coins and something else. It will fix a lot of deflated market. People will buy more ectos and stabilize the crash of the prices.
So no more blue fest from dungeons or whites from extremely hard to kill bosses? That’s good to hear. Did over 50 runs on dungeons, never really got anything good from chests, only mobs kills. Only exotic stuff i ever got was a superior rune, that is soulbound… So far, only Ascalonian bosses seems worth the kill, since they drop 15~10 silver.
I’m not saying to give an exotic every run, just saying that spending 20 minutes in Orr killing mobs means 3~4 yellows while 3 hours in dungeons means blues all the time. I think even dragon chests give me better stuff.

Robert, Robert. We need more lore for dungeons, ala Elder scrolls books. I don’t mean story mode, i mean info about bosses, why they are doing that, why they are there. Lupicus design is so kittening awesome, i really want to read more about why is he guarding the temple, what’s up with his position, etc. And the gravelings in Ascalonian Catacombs, do they feed on the ghosts? Would they destroy the world if they were to get out of control?

Also, it might e lazy, but it is the fastest and easiest way, unless you have a mesmer in the group, going down there with everyone isn’t a good idea. Even if you go while the laser is shooting, you run the right risk of getting hit by the constant fire tooth on the platforms, and there isn’t a lot of safe places you can stand, unless you go back, missing even more time for the shield.
I would be fine if they raised the shield downtime to say, 20 seconds. Just add a new attack to him. Make him spawn an aoe to every single platform and area around him, except a few places near him when someone gets very near. This way people will need to coordinate the jump down there.
Because right now, it is incredible boring and long, specially to the people firing the lasers. The shield downtime is too slow and by the time i go down there, avoiding the fire tooth, i have time to shoot 3~4 times before i need to go back. Wasting even more time.
The mechanics of the fight is great, it just need some tweaks, like a longer shield downtime and more varied attacks for the boss. Force people to pay attention. Not just stand in one place, slowly killing it.
Can you bother the karma guys too? Because i wasted 35k karma when i just tried to preview a weapon

I will never understand why people dislike a dungeon finder. It makes easier to find groups. How is that bad and how screaming and eventually being suppressed on lion’s arch for 2 hours a better thing?

This is my first MMO, second if Monster hunter frontier count as one. The lack of a better LFG system makes really hard to find people to do some dungeons like CoE and SE.

Can you define rarity lynsey? Do you mean just any level 80 exotics or do you mean extremely hard to get exotics like named ones? Do crafted weapons constitute as less rare?
I believe the pre cursors, specially the greatsword and staff is being monopolized by a few that managed to exploit it. They will keep buying from each other and jacking up the prices. Until someone else buys/place a high order and they have hundreds of gold of profit.
You guys really need to add a set recipe, even if it is an absurd of grind to keep the pre cursor prices reasonable. As right now, we either have to play hundreds of hours to farm for gold, or gamble on the mystic forge. And after seeing so many others gambling high numbers and getting nothing, i guess i will have to start the gold farming…
OH not mentioning that weapons like torches, swords will become extremely rare and almost never show up on the TP, because everyone and their mother is running for greatswords.
Yup, this was all damage control. The new relaxed DR is absolutely pointless and insignificant. Nothing changed.
Also don’t count on this ever changing too much to make any significance. I remember GW1 having worse DR.
