Is there no consideration for a toybox as well with tonics, riders, etc? :< Having one similar to minis would be really great.

Toys in general is already a pretty big part of the game involved in many rewards and the gemstore and just like minis, it isn’t feasible to make good use of them when there are hundreds.

Please consider adding the new sigils to PvE. WvW needs more counterplay to stealth.

I’m finding weird that many people think escape is a bad sigil. It is an AWESOME sigil, cleaning 1 condition doesn’t mean immob will be cleaned and more often than not that’s the condition i want cleaned the most.

Is there any plan on doing more aggressive pve and pvp splits(wvw counts as pvp too btw)?

The change to sword mesmer 2 sword by 100% extra damage on pve was huge on the kit and made power mesmers more desirable. If said changes could be applied more often on very unperformed builds like necro power and engie power in pve, we could have a viability of them in raids or fractals. Lets say with a single simple change of 100% damage buff to GS necro 1 and 2 could easily become a class worth bringing in many content.

Charr and Asura female precursor armor

Will the different Forsake Thicket wings have their own magnetite caps? Or will it be 100 shards across the globe?

Can you look into raising that dummy cap because it is preventing me from helping people while getting rewarded at same time. I love raids, i don’t mind spending 3 hours helping new players but i would love to have at least SOMETHING good for my troubles

Been pugging raids for a while and figured that was way too much trouble than it is worthy :P

So i’m looking for a raiding guild where i would do just that, find a group of excellent individuals that know what they are doing and how to do it. I have been doing VG and gorseval enough times to know them backwards in chinese, so everytime i see my eternal 10 insights group wiping on vg or gorse because they can’t stop dying on the last phase or can’t dodge the ports, eggs, it absolutely drives me nuts that i need to spend 3 hours there :P.

However i still have yet to learn SAB but i doubt it would take more than 3 tries

I can play between 10:00 and 22:00 gw2 server time, so my schedule is pretty flexible. I main an ascended ps,burn warr/condi reaper but have a druid, herald geared up with ascended parts.

Weird FPS Caps

I have been experiencing the exact same problem as well. The weirdest part is that going to the pvp area usually stabilize this to 60 fps again, but as soon i load any other map, it back to being capped to 15~20 fps. Have you guys tried going to pvp?

At first i thought my cpu or something was dying but this is the only game it happens.

Seems to be a very consistently bug too, that happens like 50% of the times i log in, and only fixes it after relogging

Splitting skills between PVE/PVP won’t do a thing.

What makes you think that there will be MORE balancing if the skills are split. They don’t do any balancing NOW. How would doubling their workload make it better?

It isn’t doubling their workload, it will actually make far far easier, because they can ramp up everything on pve to be useful without caring for pvp. PvP is the delicate mode here, not PvE. Mobs and minions won’t complain if suddenly necros start having burn on the scepter auto :P

It is harder for them now, because they gotta keep in mind every mode and every usage before making a change which might not even address the issues.

I loved the change in gw1 when they did it. I didn’t find it difficult to adjust to at all. It would be no harder to learn than say…. the new mastery system. I don’t think anyone else was either. I don’t recall many complaints from the players that actually focus on PvP. There are ways to make it easier to see. And most people are just copy pasting builds anyway. Lets be honest.

For players that keep up with developments, and research things, it’s a easy transition. For the vast majority of the playerbase that just cares about logging in and enjoying themselves, it’s a crap system that will come off as arbitrary.

What makes games playable in the first place is the ability for a player to count on something always working a same way. Having spots in the game where otherwise dependable mechanics suddenly change functionality is bad design.

For me they are separate games altogether. When i go to PvE i have to look at wikis etc to figure out whats what. When i first came to tpvp i had to read wikis and look at builds etc. What is the difference. Im not understanding your argument. Your never coming into any game knowing everything. And on most occasions anything. You use skills in PvP you never use in PvE. And vice versa. If you don’t know you cant use a PvE build in SPvP you shouldn’t be there lol. So learning that a skill is different from its PvE counterpart isn’t difficult! Its just not. And if you didn’t look it up you’d figure it out after the first match you’d think. I honestly just don’t understand how that’s a bother at all for anyone. Why would you go into a competitive game type blind. Its just odd to me.

Yes, i rather that Anet admitted they are too lazy or don’t have enough drive to want to balance the game that use this kitten poor excuse. Saying casuals would quit the game because the skill is different is just completely asinine. And if they do, they will quit in the first moment a dragon player stomps them when try to keyboard turn or LoS others to kill them in a corner

Splitting balance makes balance easier but it doesn’t make it a good decision. The problem with split balance is that it is extremely hard on new players, which isn’t good if you are trying to grow your playerbase.

The reason it’s hard on new players is that it’s a rule change. A new player gets used to abilities in PvE, if then then go into PvP and all of a sudden their class is working completely differently it tends to make the game feel completely arbitrary, which quickly leads to a /quit..

lol and you think the current situation won’t make new players quit? If they are quitting over something so simple as that, they obviously never intended to stay in the first place. Ofc they have to adapt and learn, because they are completely different modes.You don’t go play conquest mode expecting to use that pve build, do you? Or should anet start balancing pvp to use pve builds now?

I’m not asking to completely redesign a skill too, only to be more aggressive on the changes. Ramping up scepter auto condi of mesmers to high heavens on PvE would break PvP, but it would make far more useful on PvE while keeping the same design. Make sure to players that the skill had numbers changed and it is balanced with the health of both the mode in mind. There is no need to change functionality.

HoT brought along the elephant that has been in the room for quite some time. People complained about this before, but it hold no real big difference in PvE since most of the content were pretty easy to begin with, but now that have raids and somewhat the new maps, it is clearly evidenced that the balance will affect PvE stronger than ever.

The total split is necessary, the devs have to stop holding to that bleak belief that pvp is too confusing if the numbers were largely changed. Do whatever is needed even if it means putting out obnoxious pop ups or a long kitten tutorial about how each skill is different to make new players feel comfortable.

I’m not asking for a whackmole balance, but with a total split, there would be more leanway of making both modes at least very healthy. This game have much less skills than gw1 had and i don’t understand why that game could have split balance but this one can’t.

Just look at this whole situation: hammer 2 from revenants breaks wvw but it is useless in the other modes, if it is nerfed, then the other modes suffer. Necro condition is somewhat weak in PvE, but if dhuumfire was buffed or they had more condis, SPvP would be a total mess. It is impossible to fix something to be a good balance between all the 3 modes, if after 3 years wasn’t already clear as water to be case. So many builds and classes having to resort to elites to be useful in PvE while every other line or weapon types keeps rotting away forever. Warriors will never mainhand maces in PvE or use axe offhand.

Splitting gotta happen, or else balance will be an exercise of bashing your head against a wall. The current situation is doing more harm than good, no one is happy, absolutely no one. One mode will always be held back by the other.

We don’t intend to nerf income, just shift where most players derive their income. You won’t be forced into raids in order to earn value though.

Players who enjoy playing dungeons will have either lower income or will have to play content they do not enjoy as much in order to maintain their existing level of income.

The only way you can accurately claim that you did not intend to nerf their income is to state that you intended to reduce their enjoyment of the game instead.

Edit for clarification: I did not mean you personally, but rather the collective of those who made the decision.

The intention is not entirely to reduce liquid gold earning, we’ll be using up the slack we generate in other locations

This is the first time i have seen a developer purposely sabotaging its own content to demoralize its costumers of doing it.

Surely you can understand people concerns right John? Try to see this not as economist, or as developer, but as player. Do you think it is fair? That it makes any sense?

I really would like to hear in more details the reasoning behind this. Do you guys hope that this will shift more players towards fractals or raids?

I just can’t make any sense of any of this, because raids are a weekly thing, and nothing stop people from doing both fractals and dungeons. You could have easily raised the tokens earned or simply replaced the gold with t6 mats. Dungeons are a daily thing, in no shape or form, it means it will detract the attention of people from doing the rest of the game as the blog said.

  • I can’t talk about the “huge awesome mega reveals” other than to say that since the wings are essentially a multi-part story you will learn things along the way. Anything vital to the raid story will happen naturally and unobtrusively, but we’ll also have some optional stuff scattered around to discover. You’ll see elements of this in the beta that are carried through the entire first wing.

Does that mean we won’t be forced to sit around twiddling our thumbs waiting for some NPCs to talk on every run through the raid?

This is something we’re very mindful of, so we’ve been working hard to find better ways of dispensing essential plot information and gameplay feedback without grinding things to a halt. You can get a feel for how we’re doing that in the raid beta that starts today. That stated, there is some optional stuff we’ve put in the raid so if you’re waiting around for your squad to get ready you can walk around, talk to NPCs (in the safe areas), and potentially find some cool things we’ve stashed in there.

We realize that there are a lot of players who want to get right into the action, so we’re doing what we can to allow for that. Play the beta and let us know what you think!

Can’t you do it like dungeons or fractals? Most of the stories were delivered completely in a non obtrusive way. Just add cutscenes whenever necessary and let us press a skip button.

This was something that really bugged me in living world too, and the lack of being able to skip anything so i can just start working already for the achievements

Raid accessibility problems

The elitism in this thread is depressing.

Imagine only a few pro guilds could play inside Eternal Battlegrounds. Imagine only a few top players could play in Legacy of the Foefire. Imagine Super Adventure Box had no baby mode and no continue coins. Imagine only players with at least 20k achievement points could get into new zones.

That’s what you are asking for. To keep “the rest of the scum” outside your special snowflake palace.

In the long run, time will give everyone what they deserve.

In the long run (since GW2 launched) there has been nothing of this sort (except high lvl fractal) so what exactly are you whining about???

99% of the game is your special snowflake already.

Raids are essentially a bigger twist on fractals – requiring ascended gear and coordinated group play and a bigger group – Thats it. how is that some massive , restrictive wall, that you can’t push through.

While I hate elitism , extreme casualism is just as toxic, if not, more.
99% of the game catered to you isn’t enough. Seems anet has to make sure its 100% to satisfy you huh.

An easy mode for raids wouldn’t affect hard mode raids in any way.

Yet you don’t want it, and want to force everyone out.

This doesn’t happen in any other mode of the entire game. None. Yet you want raids to be only for you.

PS: You compare it to fractals? Let me laugh. FotM are the most accesible content of the game, because they have difficulty levels.

But I guess farming braindead content for the best gear really requires skill!

Who is forcing you out of raids? Anet? The players? An invisible wall is blocking you from entering in there and trying? I don’t think so, if you can’t do raids, you only have yourself to blame, not anyone else.

While i wouldn’t be against a light version for raids; and since you brought up fractals, i would like the rewards to be just as good as a fractal reward level 1 then. This means: no exclusive skins or ascended gear. It would be called practice mode, a story focused instance with the usual blue and greens. That would be the only fair way of doing this without taking out the whole point and prestige of the original intent of raids.

It is just hard to understand, why play games at all if you just want everything in a silver platter? Why bother designing a whole complex instance if all you want is just go in there, press 1 and collect loot? Let’s just save everyone time, put a quaggan in there who will hug you and give you a precursor, while saying you are the best player in the world.

Also where are these players going, after all matchmaking is not going to be helped by PvE players basically playing PvE in the 9 rankfarms that occupy the top 9 spots in the hotjoin server list (EU) as I write this, do these players count as part of “PvP playerbase”?

This. Remember when they counted the PvE famers in EotM as part of WvW? From past history, they’re doing the same here.

This is the exact same thing i was thinking too. Is Colin referring to PvP in general? Do the people that just go there to farm chests/dailies, counts?

Upcoming Revenant changes for BWE3

I’m absolutely against most of the mallyx changes. While i agree that unyielding anguish needed to be changed, you pretty much killed that whole unique playstyle the summon had it and replaced it with boring condi spam. Please revert back the playstyle;

There is absolutely no reason to believe that if someone runs support, it will weaken you, this kind of situation that is barely detrimental at best, and if not a good thing instead. The self condies and pain absorption made sure that you always had condies on you, and with plenty of time to apply on enemies before condies are cleaned. Even if the condies really empower you and cleaning them might not be a good idea, it is part of the reason why the build it is so unique and fun. If you don’t clean, you got a crapton of condies on you, if you run resistance, the opponent can remove it and then you would be in big trouble. BUT, if you managed to manipulate the conditions before it weakens you too much, the opponent would be in trouble instead, and if someone is there helping you after by cleaning them, there wouldn’t be any tension. You copied your condies and so on and want to get rid of them after you swap legends. Like, the only time i can even think of supports creating tension, would be a team of 4 eles with 6 in water. And that’s only if they are all packed around you.

Also, unrelenting assault really need further nerfs, at least for PvP. How does one avoid 8~7k damage if you don’t have any rolls? That’s every 12 seconds, it is easy to make someone waste their roll, then it is pretty much game over for them. Can’t interrupt, can’t hit back. Reduce the evade to not last during the whole animation. Or give it a longer casting time.

Does Pulmonary Impact stack?

Once Pulmonary is on your target, it will ignore blind, evade, block, even range. The ways to really not take the hit will be through invulnerability, damage inversion (ala Defiant Stance), or damage reduction (protection, Endure Pain).
You could technically land a Pulmonary and if you’re quick enough, activate Basilisk Venom for an unblockable/evadeable stun when it pops… Or use your dodge with Evasive Empowerment to increase the damage.

So headshot will be pretty overpowered with this trait huh?

As always, things are open to change. If this playstyle is too strong, we’ll have to adjust it. There’s a possibility that it shouldn’t stack intensity, or maybe its damage is too high, or a variety of other ways that it could be adjusted. We want it to have strong play and also feel rewarding, while not being the ‘only’ thing that you seek to do in order to deal damage. We’re looking forward to seeing how it works for you during the beta weekend.

Lol, no offense karl. I know you guys wanna test and all and this is just beta. But i wonder what kind of reasoning it was used for this to be even remotely a good idea. Spamming interrupts with sword/pistol thief will make shatter mesmer burst right now look like a puppy compared to godzilla It has over 2000+ base for lord sake.

How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

This is exactly why the game is so casual and has one of the worst pve content I’ve ever seen. People just want endgame stuff without any effort. There is no single mmo out there that would let you obtain anything you want by only doing stuff you want.

And that’s fine. Every game has it’s own strengths and weaknesses, and one of GW2’s great strengths is exactly that it provokes this sort of impression, and thus drives the players who think it away from the game, which makes the game better for everyone else. It’s like driving all the snakes out of Ireland.

It really depends. I have a pretty decent idea of what raiding will be like, based on previous uses of that term, just as if you tell me that a game has “PvP” I have a pretty decent idea of what that means. I do not like raiding as it exists in any other game. I have zero interest in it on a conceptual level, so I highly doubt that I will enjoy GW2’s raiding, no matter how much they improve on the standard formula. I can’t promise, sight unseen, that I would prefer any alternative to raiding, but chances are that I would at least like it better, and even if I don’t someone else probably would, and any alternative is better than no alternative, even if it turns out that I hate both and would be pushing for another one.

Yes, and that’s a good thing, and should remain that way. Play to your strengths. Casuals are what have made GW2 one of the more successful MMOs out there, while “hardcore” games like Wildstar completely faceplanted.

You’re a casual, okay enjoy that, but why do you feel entitled to having the best stuff in game? Why do you feel it’s your right to dictate how the game will develop?

I could, and do, say the same thing about raiders. Why do you feel that you deserve the best things and nobody else does? Why can’t we both get the best things? I’m not trying to take anything from you, why do you insist on taking anything from me?

If they actually suceed at making the raids difficult so it requires actually using your brain and skill, then the skins should be only exclusive to that said raid. They already stayed on the casual level with not adding gear progression and higher level cap. You seriously cannot be asking them to hand out rewards meant to be for raids to everyone.

Yes, so long as people work an appropriate amount to earn them.

Why do you think raiders is getting the best gear? Because it is legendary or because you like the skin? The gear raiders are getting isn’t any better than anything else in the game and as pver you can easily farm ascended without ever so much touching raids.

If we are going on this path, why can’t i have fractal skins without doing fractals? Why can’t i have arah weapons without doing arah? or any of the exclusive pvp sets?

I don’t want an ez way. I want an alternative. It can be even harder than raiding, I suppose, I just want it to not involve raiding.

Keep in mind the raids are not dropping legendary items. They are dropping items used to make precursors. Its highly likely the other parts will also be targeted at many different forms of play.

Fair enough, then I just want those precursors to drop elsewhere too. We don’t know exactly how any of this will work, I’m just making the point, as early and often as possible, that I don’t want to have to do raids to earn these items. At the most I might be willing to do one raid, just to tick it off the box, but I don’t want it to become one of those things where I’ll have to raid nightly or weekly or even monthly in order to earn it.

Anything that you have to repeat multiple times, you should be able to choose what activity it is you’re repeating. You should only have to repeat content that you enjoy playing.

New Armors, not Outfits in HoT

This has to be some kind of joke.. TWO new sets of armor per weight? really? I can’t begin to explain how pathetically small that is.. I would have expected several sets per weight, per zone. On top of achievement/dungeon/etc rewards… This has to be a mistake…

Maybe this is just the Legendary armor.. seriously.. I can’t explain how utterly disappointing & pathetic this is..

Factions MORE THAN DOUBLED the number of armor sets. Nightfall just about doubled.. In a Cosmetically-based progression game… they add 2. This just can’t be right. There aren’t that many new monsters.. they didn’t add new emotes.. what are the artists working on? Based on how quickly they made the original game, there should be multitudes more sets.

They are working on the gem shop lol. Haven’t you noticed the absurd amount of weapons and outfits that has been pouring out lately for gems? We are getting 1 new weapon set and one armor set every 2 months or so for the past 2 years in the cash store. There are so many now that they had to beef up the Lion’s trade place and start a rotation.

I will be really disappointed in Anet if they decide to give us only 2~4 armor sets. It is truly pathetic for an expansion. They need to give the gem shop a time out and give the core game some godkitten love.

Please reconsider deflecting shot changes. Adding more damage to a utility skill is only going to make people spam it as soon it goes off cooldown instead of using for an actual reflect

There are several ways we could make it a bit more appealing, like reducing the speed of the projectile by about 50%.

Or it leaves a reflecting fire, ala Teragriffs that last for 2~3 seconds or so, reduce damage,increase cooldown and remove blind if this is too strong.

Static fractal schedule

To clarify on what the “Static Schedule” means:

Old System:
Every time you load in from Dessa’s Lab, a random fractal is chosen. If you want to play Swamp, you have to leave and re-enter, “rerolling” until you get that fractal.

New System:
Upon loading in from Dessa’s Lab, you are placed in a particular fractal depending on which scale you are playing at. If you want to play Swamp, all you’ll have to do is enter at a scale associated with it.

Had to delete my last post because of forum shenanigans. For Clarity:

Scales will now have a specific assigned Fractal associated with them. So certain fractal scales will have you play through the Swamp Fractal, others will be Mai Trin, etc. Each existing fractal has been associated with a number of scales, so you’ll see all of them multiple times on your ascent to fractal scale 100.

With this change, it will be easier for groups who want to practice strategy against a certain fractal to jump right in and play. Additionally, it paces out the rate at which you experience certain Fractals, so you don’t have to fight the same encounters over and over again!

Your explanation is still confusing. Are you saying a level 100 fractals can be Mai trinn with a number of certain mistlocks and that will not change not matter what? 100 will always be mai? What’s going to stop people from running a lower level on swamp, let’s say 96 for faster rewards? What incentive is there for people to try different long fractals? People will always just pick swamp, over and over and over, if after it is done, we can pick it again.

A toast to 3 years of broken golem AI

Let’s toast to the amazing feat that golem has been a complete liability for so long. He doesn’t work for me more than 70% of the times only unbudging when i use the elite skill.

Last i read about this was something something about AI of the golem sharing with every mob in the game and if he was touched, the whole game would break. If eles summon ai work, i wonder how golems are any different…

I was wishing this huge balance patch has fixed him, but he still dumber than a skritt. So yea, share any other skill that has been broken so long and come cry with me and continue with the forsaken hope that HoT fixes everything.

On a side note, if they can’t get this skill to work efficiently, they might as well rework it like sword 3 mesmer. A elite being completely junk shouldn’t be allowed to remain broken for so long.

I’m pretty unhappy with the location of several merchants.

There are no wp anywhere nearby the TP and it is completely on the other side of the bank. There are only 1 merchant that sells salvage kits, and the repair merchant is incredibly out of the way.

The worst case is the dungeon vendor that was reduced to a single npc incredibly hidden on a random part of the map. I had to use the Guide guy to point me where he is, because the dungeon merchant doesn’t have any icon on the map.

Unfortunately, this game isn’t balanced around 1v1. And both most used guardian builds/warrior builds(shoutbow and meditation) hard counter your profession, so there is nothing you can do against them unless they are incredibly incompetent. Against these, you should probably engage them when they are weak or in teamfights where you are able to finish them off or gank them. You are a thief, time to start acting like one :p

As for rangers, you probably talked about the power variant, and this one is a bit tricky, you will need to abuse your teleports,stealth and blinds to get in and go for the kill before they kill you first. If you manage to stealth wait their stone signets or blind the knock shot or the roots, you have a pretty high odd of winning since the GS is often incredibly slow and the blind spam. Just be sure to keep circle straffing and try to avoid the longbow rapid fire and aoe spam. Don’t be greedy, wait for them to be vulnerable

When i saw this pic i didn’t know if i laughed or cried. They showcased the unique piece of arm equipment of guardians and it ends up being kittenblocked by aegis. This gotta be a huge joke.

Please, let us enable a toggle to disable aegis showing or something. Make it only appear if you are in combat. Or change how the effect looks to be less obnoxious

I like how you are being cheeky when you have no idea what you are talking about.

SD build isn’t a turret build. They use Rifle turret toolbelt skill, not the rifle turret.

On a serious note, you should also be using your rifle turret (or any turret in an SD build) for damage purposes . Detonate turret does a flat 1200 damage on instant cast and can be used in succession with Surprise Shot. If you’re using Accelerant Packed Turrets, which you probably are, it’s also an additional CC during your burst combo.

Josh please. The very link you gave said you aren’t supposed to pop the turret and let him sit there. You only use it to burst right away for cc and more damage, which will in no way whatsoever be affected by what’s happening with turrets.

The stat removals alone will actually be a potential increase to diversity.

That said, smaller amount of traits total is very good for the game. The game had a lot of false choices (traps) and then a lot of mandatory traits (arcana, cleansing ire). These tracks help determine use-metrics a bit better because it’s streamlined, which COULD help build diversity in the long run if they are proactive, but most importantly, it will be much easier to balance the game.

I’ll gladly take a little less pseudo choice for a better way to balance.

This would only work if they gave us more lines to choose instead of just 5. We can put 6 points in 3 of those 5. There will always be just one way people will run specific classes. DD celes now would put either 6 into earth for the anti condi trait or 6 in fire for more sheer power. 6 in water would still remain, 6 in arcana would still remain.

Oh god think about it, if they don’t change a lot of the old traits, i’m scared of facing a stone heart and cleansing wave ele.

You guys might be upset about it, but there has always been an illusion of choice in extreme customization systems like GW2’s, WoW’s and SWTOR’s old talent systems.

There is always a centralized, best approach that “kills build diversity.”

It’s better to limit options to a few good ones than to have millions of permutations of trash.

Like i already said, the better choice would be to make the trash traits remotely useful by listening to the community feedback, but we all known too well their stance on implementing any serious change to the balance of the game. So many ways to fix turrets, so many better choices, and they decided to go with the blanket nerf and number tweaking instead.

What’s trash to you, it might be gold to someone else too. This is how meta are settled in the first place, you never know what some random out of the way trash build might counter something that everybody is using.

And now that is gone. Because there is only one way you will run water. We have achieved the true nirvana of rock paper scissors balance. Wanna kill that ele? Better bring that necro with 6 in the corruption line. And there is nothing the ele can do about it, because there is only one way to run water.

With the advent of the new system coming in place,it became obvious that the NPE is still assailing and downgrading the core of the game. Now we are having more builds diversity being killed because it streamline for them and it is convenient for anet to balance.

Let’s face it, with those new water traits, there is only ONE obvious line of trait everyone will take. Do any of you will truly think anyone will take anything but soothing ice soothing disruption and cleansing water for PvP? This will make cele dd eles even more OP than they already are now.

We already have less build variety because most of them are outfight bad, still, we can have a CHOICE to run them. Now not only we lost that choice but we will have even less build variety. Can we even pick the first line again for the master and grandmaster trait? ]

Why can’t we have a choice? Why does it have to be the easy path? We, the players have already provided so much feedback of whats wrong, whats right, how can make the wrong right, and anet reluct to do the necessary changes. It took so long for turret engies to be addressed and they still aren’t addressing the cele shoutbow/engie/ele meta. This has nothing to do with being hard or confusing. This is all about taking the easy path with the least effort being put. Because this is everything that the pvp community gets, 6 months slight balance patches and now reduced variety.

I’m almost convinced that engineers are the favorite class of Anet, why they always seem to pop in the daily and why they haven’t suffered any significant nerf every since kit refinement.

So since Kit Refinement nerf engies not having much in the way of nerfs means there is some sort of dev favouritism conspiracy, yet up to kit refinement nerfs the devs “favourite class” was probably the most nerfed class in the game, there seems a problem with your logic.

That was just a joke, sarcasm :P. And what? Engies were the most nerfed class? That is simply not true. If i had to pick the most heavy nerfed class would probably be warrior, and will probably be just a matter of time before the class is killed entirely when they nerf cleansing ire.

As people said here, the engie gets away with running a relatively bunking build while still pulling off insane damage with condies and direct. Any dhuumfire necro were relatively just as squishie they were able to kill, and anyone with heavy condi cleanse could just shrug them off like they were nothing.

You kidding me right? Engies got more condition pressure and spread than necros. it was the reason we got death shroud 5 and dhuumfire in the first place. With a single press of pistol 3, you apply bleed burn confusion blind plus whatever other passive proc from sigils or runes. Then we got nades bombs elixir gun and heck even toolkit apply condition spam along with cc, all packed together on a small cooldown. What do we necros got? Fear terror spam which was nerfed repeatedly, and now we are slowly moving to the power variation of necros instead

IP should be something that only procs from damaging toolbelt and swap places with synaptic overload or defense dispenser.

Suffice to say, if we have the crunchy data numbers we will finally bear proof that the community hates skyhammer and Spirit watch, and does not want said maps anywhere near competitive environment.

As personal experience, i attest that both of those maps only have gotten a total of 0~2 votes top every single time they popped on queue.

And there seems to be see-sawing in philosophy of where to take the game. Back to merging queues? Do we remember why the didn’t work in the first place?

When we had them together everyone hated being stacked (which is understandable) and wanted a solo queue. When we had solo queue everyone hated how it was random and the ladder meant practically nothing.

Now we have them together and everyone hates being stacked against (again, understandable.)

The solution isn’t to try the same thing no one liked, the solution is take care of the actual problem: being stacked against. I’m working on that. Looking at the data, the current implementation seems to be helping, but still has a quite ways to go. I have a few ideas I’m going to run by some people on Monday, and I’ll run a lot more simulations before bringing them into the server.

Another part of the problem is the perception players have, which is being fueled by a selection and confirmation biases, and was not helped by unranked and profession ratings starting at the default.

Let’s be frank justin. No amount of fixing is going to correct the core issue of all this, and it is the lack of playerbase. 2 years of conquest and barebones balance patches really did it in. Too little, too late.

If i’m mistaken, what’s the average amount of players off peak and prime time? Even if you came up with the most perfect matchmaking, it won’t do a thing if only a handful of people are playing. Are you going to match the the few dozen players against each other over and over? Make them wait hours? Pair them against the newbie players?You really can’t win this. People will whine regardless. For comparison, i heard people from the highest tier of league of legends, wait for hours for a single match.

Heck, a casual world versus world stream had 3 times more people watching than the official tournament, even DnT dungeons tournaments.

Until we get new modes, new professions, more frequent balance patches and all the mambo jambo, so yeah, until that soonTm trade mark stop popping up, and we see results, i don’t think anything will get better. I’m just completely jaded, been playing this game ever since beta, and seeing its pvp slowing withering away with nothing being done killed all hope i could have.

As for the issue you were talking, just rename practice to Hotjoin, bring back solo queue, and keep team queue as it is. I think the biggest problem that people had with solo queue were the afkers, the constant 4v5 and lack of punishment. Now that is somewhat fixed.

Sorry if it sounded a bit offensive Justin, i really don’t blame you, neither Evan. Both of you have worked and collaborated a lot with this community, to try to finally make things right and i love you 2 a lot.

Regarding people AFK in-match: The dishonor system is much more flexible now in a way where we can add different severity penalties to any action. We’ve discussed tying dishonor to conduct reports, but we have not decided on anything.

It is still the case that if someone is kicked for being afk, they receive disconnect dishonor.

I beg you to reconsider this. Because there is no difference between someone that AFK and someone who just rages on /t chat and then decides to troll our team by letting the opponent cap points or feeding them kills.

There is the need of a report function to apply dishonor as well. It could just be a report option of ’SPvP grieving" or just flat out grieving.
I understand that this system might be a bit tricky or could make groups bully innocents, but if done right, it is easily avoidable. Like racking up reports from different people of different matches.

If only there was a way of attaching a small phrase to reports kinda like bugs, or maybe screenshots too, this would make the job of the people getting reports 100% times more easier.

Finding the Perfect Match

Oh, this is a very important one.

While I’ve been hoping that players would have to play as the character they queued with (allowing us to get profession-based MMR) for a while – you say that we have to stay in the PvP lobby while queueing? There’s pretty much nothing to do in HotM right now, and I doubt that this is going to change anytime soon.

Since a fair number of players alt-tab while queueing already, and this is only likely to increase if we can’t faff about in PvE doing world bosses or whatever… we need some way to find out if our queue has popped without player-side workaround (like running gw2 in windowed mode and resizing other application windows to keep an eye on the game).

Check back tomorrow.

Finding the Perfect Match

One question I have will the wait time for a game be increased by a lot? You can wait 10-20 mins+ now for a team/solo q game on occasions….

It should actually be faster, but we’ll need to wait and see how it performs in the real world (and not just our internal testing and simulations.) We have several ways we can reduce queue time by sacrificing match quality, or vice versa.

Isn’t possible to give players a choice? Some box where they can tick to either choose a fast match, or a quality match that will take however possible.

As topic states, i’m sorta tired of my bags being filled with all sorts of different currencies that the game seems to constantly introduce.

I thought the point of the wallet was to make different type of currencies more practical and comfortable to have.

Why aren’t bandit badges part of it? It wouldn’t hurt to add a new tab for living world if the issue is that there is no space.

As has been detailed many times we will not be disclosing work in progress. I don’t know how to make this any clearer. As uncomfortable as this may be this is the reality.

Chris, I feel the need to point out one thing here. The person you replied to, he wasn’t saying we want to dig in when things are still in design phase.

A major point of the post was, “If you had let us in on the extent of the changes just a week before they were implemented, you could have gotten a lot of the feedback you have now, but two weeks earlier”.

I think that’s a major point there. By that point in time, nothing would (or at least should) have been a “work in progress”. It would have been “ready to deploy”. Just giving us that small look into something that “we’re preparing to push out in just a few days” would have helped substantially for both your side, and for ours.

Ah ok well I didn’t get that sorry Ohoni and thanks Shadow. Let me have a think and I will give you both my opinion. As i am sure you are aware this idea comes with a similar set of issues to.

I understand that there are a bit of risks, such as we not experiencing the content live per see, and actually give a solid feedback.

But even still, if we can have a sneak peek, an insight to what’s to come, we can voice out our concern sooner, and even if fixes won’t be made or can’t be made. You guys will be aware of our worries, and when the content hits, maybe we all might even reached to the same consensus, and fixes and improvements can be rolled out earlier. It is literally a win win situation.

We aren’t asking you to share information and details when it is in design machine, but give us a pre patch list of all the core things that will change, that are ready and will be deployed, like the PvP balance previews. An example of the NPE would be a week earlier something like this would be posted:

“We will makes skills be unlocked at levels XX and XX, make sure that veterans won’t have to experience this with their alts. Improve the flow of the personal story and divide them by chapters of 10 levels, etc etc”

This way, it finally hits, we will know what’s design, what’s working as intended and what was misconception. And we will have plenty of time to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly

Such a big quality of life feature, that has been asked over and over and over. It even been acknowledged, discussed and dissected to death. Not only massively making PvP more smooth but all the other game modes overall, and we still won’t get in the upcoming feature patch. :C

For a patch that is supposed to be PvP focused, this has been absolutely depressing. It feels that this patch has been hastily made in the course of 1 month because they were too busy with the living world before.

I’m not even going to mention the leaderboards/ladders/game modes/4v5 because it really doesn’t matter anymore.

Lots and lots of lag.. Been starring at loading screen for minutes and I come to internet and type www.google.com…. Loads instantly. I tab back into GW2, still loading….

Not matter how many times people stomp their feet and complain, not matter how many threads we have, and how many times the devs acknowledge that they are hearing us, nothing is ever changed. This has been happening for a while, it will continue to happen.

I just don’t get it, why? I understand that something like ladders and new game mode takes time and effort to put into the game, but a balance patch shouldn’t be so bad right?

Another update happens, more tooltip fixes, hundreds of hundreds of posts saying that balances patches every 6 months isn’t health, and we still have no light at the end of the tunnel, no news, no hope, no anything. WAIT, we got something, 2% cut off from runes of strength and a slightly lesser cooldown, which accomplished absolutely nothing; Meanwhile Balthazar runes remain untouched.

I understand that Anet has said many times that they don’t want to do a whack and mole balance approach, but honestly? I rather take that of what we have right now, because what we have right now isn’t fun. Shaking the meta is fun.

PvP isn’t priority, but give us some hope Anet, there is still time to fix this mess, or at least attempt to. You can start by doing balance patches more often…It is agreed that they need to happen more often, and i’m sure it can happen more often.

I really love this game, every single aspect of it, PvP, WvW, PvE. I wish i could do something to improve it, i wish something could be done to PvE balance too, and give some solid places to classes like Necros and Rangers in there, separate PvE and PvP completely. It just hurts me to see the game in such state.

I love to use my Wintersday town clothes on my human male, but I really hate how the hat looks on him. I much prefer the coolio aviator sunglasses that he is currently wearing.
I would be very disappointed if he always had to wear that hat. x_x

I do like the Mad King’s outfit on my Norn, but I would also like to show his face while wearing it. I would also be very disappointed if he had to wear the pumpkin head all the time. :/

A little added note here, Outfits will still respect the ‘hide helm’ toggle so you can absolutely wear Wintersday or Mad King outfit without the hat or pumpkin.

Curtis can you shed some line of reason why are you guys taking this path? There was so many ways this could had been better handled, but instead you guys decided to infuriate a userbase with pointless restrictions.

If said town clothes can be used in combat, why not treat them like the helmet skins? Why all the effort to turn old skins into pointless tonics? Why are you restricting us to mix and match?

Now that traits are game wide refundable, i’m sure this is something that has been talked about to death, even mentioned by devs before as a much needed QoL.

So i’m hoping this hasn’t been forgotten still, and that will be included in the feature pack. I can’t even imagine how convenient would this make my play time easier if i can just quickly switch builds around, both in wvw and spvp.
