Restrict it to 1-40, cities and event maps who are easily accessed by low level chars./inexperienced players. (ie. labyrinth) Wouldn’t that be an idea?
not everyone waste 300 G to be a commander and almost no one ask to be inside the squad… this new tag is a blessing, you don’t need a real comm to lead an event train anyway
That’s an argument to make me want to have my 100g back I paid in 2012.
I just think “mentoring” as it is now in level 80 maps is not “mentoring”
(edited by Nekres.1038)
Wouldn’t it be better to restrict the mentor-tag to maps with the level requirement of 1 to 40? Nobody needs a mentor in the maguuma-dschungle.
I thought mentoring meant helping newcomers get comfortable with the game. I don’t think those kind of players run around in level 80 maps.
Not to mention that commander tag has way more functions and costs 300g.
Edit: I also think restricting it to low level maps will make more players want to use it in the appropiate way.

My guild is level 4 and the influence-trader is not in the guild-initiative-office as it says in the tooltip.
The guild is level 4
So mine is bugged?
There is no one on the left side, only the guild requisitioner way in the back (front of me if you enter) and on the right there is the guild-initative.notar. Those are the only ones with green symbols.
EDIT: There is only one with a green “shield”
Hy, I am searching for the influence-trader in the guild initative office, but I can’t seem to find him. The tooltip says he should be there and in the guild hall.
Seems like the tooltip lied to me and he is in fact only in the guild hall?
I overlooked this thread as I was searching for information on a problem I have and I just stopped by to answer
[quote by #2 post]“there is not one person that is happy about the new mastery system”[/quote]
I am actually very proud to bought the expansion and you are right, people who are happy about it do not usually post about it meaning you get to see more crying here.
Necro veteran here replying to you.
After very detailed testing it came clear to me that Dagger is better in PvP than Greatsword. Not only do you hit almost as hard as GS, but also you get much more lifeforce per hit. On a side note you have more chances to hit with a dagger due to faster attacks. Now with the secondary weapon (mine is warhorn) you have more trustworthy utility than with the GS.
Dagger is still the better choice for power builds in PvP., but I can feel GS to be very good in large scale battles WvW and PvE.
About the shouts, the heal is ok. You can also make it cleanse a condition when using soldier rune. I played alot of games as powermancer and if I were to force myself to use the new stuff added I would play with
Dagger/Warhorn; Staff, “Your soul is mine!”, Fleshworm, Well of corruption, “You are all weaklings!”, “Chilled to the bone!”/Lich. (2 stunbreaker, 3 condition cleanse + staff #4, more with consume conditions or secondary dagger) There are many options to play atm and that’s a good thing.

I prefer to get ~2 mins queue and sometimes face a premade team instead of wait way longer to guarantee that I’ll face other single players
This is an outright lie. SoloQ was MUCH faster than teamQ, and only reason why soloQ was deleted was constantly growing queue times for teamQ.
“Nobody wants to play with premades, we have to do something. Oh, right, lets delete anything but premade queue! Brilliant!”
Yep, that could be it. SoloQ has to suffer, because TeamQ has longer queue times?
Shouldn’t be surprising that teamQ has longer queue times in every game.
Especially on the european servers with many different languages and cultures not teaching english from elementary school on this is a huge fun blocker as a casual. I am european.
hmm yes this is all true in theory, but I get 4 premades way too often. It’s also true that it’s easy to complain and hard to find a solution, but it is also easy to give up on finding one.
I think… no… what I experienced in my years of playing was when I was temporarly casual gamer that it’s way too often not a solo Q, but rather a pseudo soloQ as described above with actual 4 man premades. It gets worse when they are competing while using teamspeak or another voice program with you being left alone in the team chat.
More worse when they are bad in english and don’t speak your language . True, that last one applies more to the european servers, but still.
(edited by Nekres.1038)
Anyway, as a casual getting between 4 to 4 premades is not fun. Cause you know who’s gonna get the blame when something doesn’t go the way the premades want it?
if soloQ, it should be soloQ for everyone or up to DuoQ. The system in league of legends is a great way to adress this.
EDIT: Also the algorithm does care about indivudual skill, but not how a team plays together.
(edited by Nekres.1038)
The title is somewhat incorrect, but I wanted to call it ‘No SoloQ’ anyway, because there is somewhat truth lying beneath it.
In this topic I wanted to adress one of the biggest flaws in the gw2 sPvP match making system and by that the misleading advertisment about casual player friendliness.
Often arenanet describes guild wars 2 as made to be casual friendly and you can really see the changes made to PvE in the last couple of months to become more and more of what it has been called so often.
The exception still unadressed is sPvP for casuals. By that I mean casuals who
- have to work in general
- students who have to work to pay their study bills ie. temporarly casuals.
- are doing various stuff besides gw2.
Casuals often can’t rely on mates being online at the time when they are getting home from work and finding mates in the lobby IS the same as getting queued with randoms. You just don’t know them and their playstyle. The option preferably to casuals is to queue themselfs solo, because they need to make the most of the time they have until they have to go to sleep and prepare for the next days schedule.
BUT the soloQ is not casual friendly, every so often I get queued with totaly unfair match ups where the enemy has up to 4 premades, not rarely even from the same guild.
Technicaly, it is a soloQ, because I queued myself solo, but in all fairness it must be said that it is not. It is just disguised as one.
I know that it could be a thing happening with the low amount of players queueing. Can’t you adjust the algoithms?
I want to notify you that if guild wars 2 shall become casual friendly in every area, don’t forget the sPvP part. Please.

The Mad King pops in with this pun for the thread:
A Monumental announcement is approaching “soon”
I really hope you will also reset the players rewards. What I mean by that is some players have gotten “God Walking Among Mere Mortals”, full HoM points and yes also “Champion of the gods”.
What I am most concerned of is “Gof Walking Among Mere Mortals”, because this is a hard-to-work-for title in the guild wars universe and a friend of mine got the title without ever playing guild wars 1 + full HoM as the HoM was still active months ago. He still has the title but he does not equip it, because he says it’s not honorable to equip that title aquired through a bug. This should be reset or I would find it very veeeeeery mean of arenanet to put the work of guild wars 1 players to waste. Even I played gw1 and know how hard it was to aquire the God Walking Among Mere mortals title, but the title has no value anymore when you know that thousands of people probably aquired it through this bug as well.
Many apologies for my english grammar at night.
(He aquired the title and HoM points after he created a new character as he said it to me.)
The revenant has low CD skills on the sword with shiro tagatchi legend.
When he uses the third skill and goes to a mist form I am assuming he is not targetable and gets no damage (or only from conditions). If so , he definitely shouldn’t contribute to point holding in sPvP while moving through the mists.
I posted a note in our internal chat about it being broken, but yeah, it’s the weekend so it’s probably not gonna be fixed before Monday.
Really sorry about that
Is a fix in sight?
Any news on a fix?
All API keys seem to be broken for me. I create new ones, but I can’t seem to make them work on the following sites: http://www.gw2bank.info/ and http://mygw2.wvwintel.com/
Error code:
Invalid API key or API error.
I want to show my manly chest or manly furr (charr male) when engaging combat. I look badbutt without a chest peace, but I loose defense when unequiping.
Or can the defense attribute of the PvE armor put as base attribute in PvP like the rest of the PvE armors attributes?
Doesn’t it make the game kinda unbalanced? Shouldn’t be the player disallowed to change to another character right before the game starts in a ranked match?
Isn’t the algorithm kinda weird to allow such combs?
stop comparing WvW or 1v1 with 5v5 pvp games. In WvW you have all sorts of bonuses and 1v1 displays a no-reality situation you would have in team pvp.
Burn can be cleansed or transfered by necros as well.
As I said, there is much more to dodge than just engineer GB.
I am talking about 5v5 here, ranked, competitive pvp. The damage is just broken and abusive and if you don’t have your dodge up you’re done for, doesn’t matter what you play. There is so much more going on in 5v5 than just the engi you would have to dodge, so don’t compare it to 1v1, please.
this is hilarious and engis are just farming Pvp games.
Fix it or disable the trait while it is bugged. Thank you.
If it was League of Legends, the trait would be disabled while it is this hardly abusive!!!!!!
(He almost one hits me while on tank warrior build wtf.)
Anet quote “4) there are some overpowered builds”
no this has nothing to do with overpowered, this is broken.
Has somebody gotten his or her hands on a working ambient occlusion?
Nvidias ambient occlusion update disapears at different camera angles, but I still would love to have the effect with some tweaks.
At this moment I am using ReShade + MasterEffects and some own stuff.
Would love to see the Devs integrating a native ambient occlusion in their engine which could be turned on/off in the graphics panel.
I totally agree with OP.
Today I had a match with
- players double capping close early,
- afking when in downstate so when I stomp an enemy, they don’t get up.
- trying to really stomp that mesmers downstate clone and still not realizing that even after being interupted, not knowing about the little mark on top of a mesmer. (which r80 should know.)
So why do I r80 get queued with r1? Also, 2 matches in a row I am the random in a 4 man premade which I have to carry, because they are playing like r20, dropping points like there is no tomorrow.
I hate that when there is this PvP buff that there are these really “luck dependent queues”. I don’t like playing until the buff is over.
I want to play with competent professional players , so please do something about the algorithm of yours, anet.

I have this problem, too.
occurs:
- (EU) germany
- on any map
- any lobby, ranked, practice, doesn’t matter.
- any class
it is annoying while I am streaming.
it started happening after the patch before the last one.
But I just read you’ve found the issue. So hopefully there will be a fix soon!!
too rarely the middle area of the map is in use, most of the time both teams fight almost spawn-to-spawn ie. on one side of the map, because there is no point in going elsewhere. The map itself looks great in asthetics, small but cool for 1v1 or some teaching, but it is not picked up by 1v1 rooms. You could say it’s a map for friends wanting a short 1v1, nothing more. A 1v1 map covering up for the missing Duelling-System in PvE, like the Lich and Sigill of Spite on the necro are skills feeling they’re just their to cover up the lack of reliable utility of the rest of the necromancers weapons and skills. (Every build on him gets outperformed by another class, unless skill difference takes over.) So yeah, that map feels like a quick filler.
Hey devs of spectator mode, I would really like to know if you made any progress regarding the spectator mode.
I would love to spectate my friends in their SoloQ ranked matches, of course, a implemented delay will be inevitable.
A side question: I would like to be redirected to the english forums when I type guildwars2.com and not to my localized website ie. guildwars2.com/de/. Easy way to do that?

4-legged Charr and Dark Knight transformation
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Nekres.1038
Dark Knight? What do you mean with that?
Hes reffering to knight shroud. The actual name of what alot of people are calling reaper shroud.
as for the OP’s issue. I honestly have no idea. If theres issue with one you would think it would cross over. but the two are different enough I can’t say for certain.
It could also be fixed by then. (I have never run into this issue myself)
Perhaps me means the issue when you gain the different aspects like in Drytop to move around? When you pick one up and move around (i.e. when not clicking the movement skills), your Charr runs like they are running on 4 limbs but the arms (front legs) stay stationary as if they are holding something.
Yes, this is exactly what I meant and I hope the Reaper is more adjusted for the Charr race on this particular bug.

I have a charr necromancer. Inspired by the Aatxe.
Will the dark knight be buggy with the scythe? At the moment the deathshroud is sometimes bugging out when running on 4 legs. (The animation will be staying in 4 legged running animation, but the 2 fron legs will be weird)
It seems that disabling to stow the weapon while in deathshroud or dark knight would fix the issue.
.. for too long?
Hi, so I saw the direction you want to go with necro and yeah well…. let me help or I fear there will be no necromancers anymore.
Most of the changes are pretty random and ok giving us Dhuumfire back is nice. (For people who don’t know, dhuumfire had no cooldown before they decided to nerf it.)
Changing spots between Path of Corruption with Terror. I can understand that change. Path of Corruption is too weak for being grandmaster, since every class can spam way more boons than a necro can handle and only 2 boons to cond? Too weak for grandmaster. And now with the engineer medi kit changes the engi has even more boons. lol. I think the biggest skill on necro now will be Epidemic with those turrets vulnerable to condition damage. But I am sure they will give engineer a skill to cure all turrets from conditions. haha Or they will change it back like dhuumfire, when they realize the turrets can’t be cured and are being destroyed too quickly xD
Those two changes I wrote about earlier are ok, but nothing special. They are just changes which should have been done before. Especially bringing dhuumfire back is: Just. Nothing. New.
I can tell that they have no idea what they should do with the necro, instead what I was reading in the blogpost, they want to give necro a skill which will be using the whole lifeforce bar at once. I assume this will be a burst, but since we can be sure that it will not ‘one shot’, it will just destroy the whole concept of the deathshroud. Everbody would fill there lifeforce just to give that skill a shot. shatter mesmer 2.0 hell yeah funneeeeeeeh not..
Also very dissapointed in the weak presentation in Rdy Up compared to the other classes. That shows how less you actually care about us necros.
You are wondering why this thread is a little toxic and makes a little fun of the devs around the necro? Because 2 years of feedback and nothing really changes as seen in Rdy Up!. I had to feel very deep pain the past 2 years and hoped we will get our overhaul, but trait lines still stay weak and some traits are still complete garbage. Every build you can play on necromancer (cond, power ..) is outperformed with a similar build on another class.
Shouldn’t be the necromancer THE MASTER OF CONDITIONS? I mean, shouldn’t be the user of necromantic wizardry embody Famine and Death of the four apocalyptic horsemen? No, but the green devilish concept of the necro really really wants to. It doesn’t get to it though.. Lich form doesn’t make up for the lack of supportive reliable dps. I mean, what?, power necro gets outperformed. well ok, we all know Lich is overpowered, but it feels like they just made this skill to cover the ‘lack of everything’ when it is on cooldown. oh and about the engineer: AoE – Moa Bird grenade – I was laughing and crying so loud: Uncreative. Overpowered. (Very Abusing in WvW). Now with that you can really throw Lich or deathshroud in the trashcan, because you have one more class to fear while Lich or in Deathshoud, oh no. better throw it in an incinerator, because their is a ‘use all lifeforce’ skill for the necro incoming.
BUT let me tell you another thing:
If the Rdy Up episode was just a filler for a period of time you would have nothing to show us just so we are ‘not getting bored’ (and that’s why one couldn’t even call those changes on necro ‘early alpha version.’) then DON’T DO A SIMILAR HEARTBREAKING TIME FILLER EPISODE EVER AGAIN WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH TOO SHOW.
…………………. Necro devs should listen to freaking metal or rock.
(edited by Nekres.1038)
Today pvp felt like I could be replaced by any other class with the same focus in the build and my team would do even better. I won rounds, but only due to the necro being like a “mini boss” with bigger health pool.
Getting to a necromancer and to the backline is easily done in a game where enemies can come from all directions leaping with their greatsword or utility leap skills. It also feels like a reason for that are the maps , especially foefire being too flat and have too much open space.
Oh and those freaking long casttimes are so easy to interupt and the animations are so visible. gosh. The problem with animations was fixed on the guardian, he has stability and invulnerability 24/7 when casting his big spells. The fact that invulnerablity has the stability effects makes me mad every time.
I do not feel like playing my main necromancer imo and gw2.
Tell me when nekro gets fixed.
(edited by Nekres.1038)
even terrormancer is somewhat difficult, since invulnerability and such has the same effect as stability and almost every class has invulnerability of some sort in the meta builds. That is again a minus point of the necro concept. Power necro gets locked down easily and now the only thing that’s left is forced to play bunker as minion master or with experimental wells.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nine-Tailed_Strike (underwater, so -1)
or
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Smoke_Screen
edit: I would even consider his amount of blindness to be a block. Necros plague and spamming 2 doesn’t count, because #1 I don’t want to be forced to play the supportive role like that and #2, you are not able to fight back while doing that. It makes me feel like I can’t kill alone like every other class can. The necro at the moment is a class for very tactical teams only and that’s what I as a main necromancer don’t want. I want freedom from team boundaries, like every other class has its freedom.
Thief is often not in target, his invisibility combos are kinda blocks, too. + his high mobility
(edited by Nekres.1038)
I made a mistake in maining the necromancer.
Yes, I did.
I won’t write huge text, but just give you the information I have about my necro.
First thing: The necro is the only class without one single block skill. – I think anet thought death shroud or a better HP pool would make this fact meaningless, but here comes #2:
The necro has no viable movementskill except Spectralwalk and Summon Flesh Wurm which need to be cast pre-fight in order to be effective and become crappy the moment your opponent notices the Flesh Wurm or Spectralwalk dissappeared too fast. Therefore, he is easy to lock down for his lack of leap skills making his death shroud and HP get shredded in no time. His well skills are just a delay of his death. Thiefs, rangers, warriors, eles all have better CC than the mainly intended master of conditions himself and when I say conditions, I also mean cc in this context, but even regular condition builds are performing better on other classes. I mean c’mon signet of spite doesn’t count. The only condition the necro can keep upright by himself (when enemy is moving like a tree stump) is bleeding and that’s a laugh.
Also, Spectral Walk feels more like a forced movement speed buff (warhorn movementspeed buff has a pretty short duration compared to other classes) or a “wai I made wrong decision to walk this way, better port back” thingy for beginners. The only tactic with those skills is having both in the utility, turning spectralwalk on, using the wurm to port out of combat, heal yourself from combat and using spectralwalk to port back into fight.
I also feel like you are forced to play as a bunker when it comes to a necromancer, since everything the necro does is performed better on other classes. The only thing necro can do is lying down wells on tiny capture points (bye bye, mid legacy of the foefire) or using minions to survive until help comes.
I know that he can do damage when played on the power build, but a lich is just easy to target and the 3. skill is meaningless with the high amount of stability on other classes. Even solo queue teams know without communication whom to focus. All classes have nice CC and leap skills so staying in backline as a high burst damage class won’t do as much as in other games like moba. And then the bursty projectiles on a power build aren’t even reliable and slow (sight break, block of every class, blindness, fumble, WASD) because like I said, there is no class that moves like a tree stump except the necro himself.
Don’t make me get to necromancer traits, those are just nerfed to the ground and some of them are weird as if the team designing them didn’t want to spend more time. Dark armor (death magic trait) for example, seems to doesn’t even work correctly.
Oh and I don’t know if it’s a localization thing, but the range description of the first skill in downstate is wrong, it says 900, but it’s actual around 650. Compared with the 900 range skill from ranger.
I want to keep faith in the upcoming greatsword for necromancer, so pls arenanet, I am by your side since 2005, don’t make me cry and undergo more agony.
greetings from germany,
Andy.

Hey, is it possible for java script to find a name and his rank in the leaderboard (pvp) and return it as string?
I need a command for my stream chatbot.
Here is an example from my bot to find the top10 with the highest points on my stream. (Points are given by lurking in the chat or following)

I would really like to join a PvP queue without the need to join the Heart of the Mists (PvP Lobby). What is it anyway what you do in the PvP Lobby? Most of us stand around and wait doing nothing.
But I would really like continuing to play PvE, doing map completions, hearts while waiting in the PvP queue to start a game.
If I really want to try out new builds, then I would check out the Heart of the Mists to fight versus those testing npcs, but I already have my setup, so forcing me to stand around in the Lobby i just boring and time wasting. Let me do hearts while waiting.
bump . I need to know.
Ah no not the normal episodes of PoI I mean the special HoT one with the jungle themed soundtrack at the start. Look up the archieved episode I linked above. (I know the Tyrian Overture too well)
Hey, I just wanna ask what the soundtrack of the Points Of Interest soundtrack playing at the start of some episodes when the countdown is running is called. (The newest episode for example: http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/623461930)
I searched for it everywhere, but can’t find it. :/ I am assuming it is from Heart Of Thorns and therefore not yet puplished on the arenanet soundcloud, if I am wrong, can someone name it? I am very curious.
Thanks!

GW1-Fan feature: Extended Hide/Show Options.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Nekres.1038
I forgot the “?” question mark in the topic title.
My question is:
“Is this gonna be implemented or considered?”
Hey my name is andy,
I am still waiting for this genius feature to be implemented in Guild Wars 2.
It such a small thing, but it made playing guild wars so much more funnier, because I could show my character with outfits matching the area I am playing in.
As of now, we only have the option to “Hide” or to “Show” our helmets.
As you can see in the blurred out area in the attached picture, my character has an Outfit (like those buyable in guild wars 2.), which is automaticaly worn in Outposts and Towns. When I go outside, it will automatically switch to my main armor, because I have my Outfit set to “Hide in Combat Areas” and my armor set to “Hide in Towns and Outposts”. This feature could be improved for guild wars 2 with an extra option in the helm status ie. “Hide when Out Of Combat” or “Only Show In Combat”.
Guild Wars —> Guild Wars 2
Helm-Status:
- Always Show —> /
- Hide in Towns and Outposts —> /
- Hide in Combat Areas --> “Hide when OOC” or “Only Show in Combat”.
- Always Hide —> /
- / = no change.
As of now, my necromancer has a grenth mask I’d only like to wear when in battle, because I also want to show off my newly bought Hair cut and color and of course, my real face. It would be a blessing even for the Outfits.
“Awesome, I can set my Outfits to be worn in cities automatically! And my armor outside! And everytime I am finished battling horrifying mordrem or zombies, I take my helmet off, because it’s soaked in vegetable oil and blood!”
Friendly greetings from germany,
Andy.

Vsync drops immense FPS in gw2 and other games.
and also, you would notice a change from, let’s say, 150 FPS to 60. By that meaning, I really would want my FPS to stay at 60 even thought I could do more.
My Nvdia graphic card settings are adjusted to a best performance and most of all is program controlled. Thus, VSync is on when I turn it on in GW2.
I just activated the triple buffering which should reduce the negative effects on my FPS by VSync. I will try it out.
I didn’t know that the FPS display returns the correct visible FPS of my monitor. I always thought it returns the processing frames tried to display even if the monitor can’t display them correctly.
Please this is super important for my experience of the game.
FPS Limiter is to hide huge FPS drops from 300 to 100 FPS. The human eye would notice such a drastic change in FPS. So that is why I am using FPS Limiter to play at a constant 60 FPS without noticing any huge FPS drops in the area of 200 to 400 FPS.
The bug is that when I set the FPS Limiter to 60, my FPS caps at 50.
When I set it to 30, it caps at 25.
See the attached image.
Please fix this, thank you.
(Best wishes from germany)
