I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
I’m thinking I can look at the picture they showed of the new traits page and know that’s not going to happen.
Just projectile speed.
Longbow/Signets is right out – its a combo you can’t run.
So really it’s a matter of leveraging longbow/everything else, and doing so at long range, because that’s what this trait helps you do.
Its adding 25% to the total healing – that means it’s multiplying the base and the healing power components – that’s a LOT more powerful that adding 25% to healing power…
Warrior: Dual-Wield Agility
Warriors who love to dual-wield will have a new option in their Arms line with Dual-Wield Agility. This trait will increase your attack speed by ten percent when wielding an off-hand axe, mace, or sword. For a grandsmaster trait, this is just BAD!
Its not bad, it just doesn’t incentivized hammer and greatsword .
Lolwut warriors get more DPS
Be serious — they get a trait that lures them off of the hammer/greatsword crack pipe.
Actually, the Grandmaster Trait is properly structured so that it adjusts a base value — the weapon itself could see improvements to damage and projectiles speed that benefits ALL longbow users, with the trait simply improving things for specialists.
Stand by on the panic. Its part of a larger picture.
Why not just let everyone run 25% faster instead of making people spend one of only a handful of skill slots on a passive ability that everyone wants or make them buy one of the two expensive rune sets for their armor? Is there some benefit to requiring players to jump through hoops for this?
Because that’s pure power creep.
Speed has value and the game respects that.
On the whole I look forward to the changes.
Yes, leveling will be a little tougher, but this game could probably use an injection of challenge.
I’d say none of that has to do with friendly play .
The ability to rez other people (and be rewarded for doing so), to not have to fight over resource nodes, the general function that everyone on your server is on your side… these things are friendly play.
Except for the tiny trifling detail that Scarlet’s Kiss is one of the ugliest things claiming to be a rifle in the game and the Rainbow is a white outline of where a Kiss should be.
Tastes vary, but wow…
The real fun will be to see if they EVER try to sell the molten or bone picks ever again…
Although it is dissapointing, it sounds like we may finally be moving away from goldwars2. If that’s what they are referencing by change of progression in the game. Which would mean no more of gold being the only realistic way to get a particular item hopefully.
I’m not sure how you can call that “moving” in any direction .
I’m very much a solo player, though I’m in a guild that does guild missions (which are fun) and has very good announcements of Dragonite opportunities as they happen (so I often join in when they give the call).
Mostly I like setting up nice cosmetic combinations, so this game should fit me to a tee, but I’m largely done hunting down this or that rare skin (Infinite Light on my guard, no interest in the looks of any of the Legendary weapons). I’m thinking about making a Volcanus, but the amount of gold it’s going to take to merge all the cores into lodestones just makes me queasy. I’m not that into it.
Basically its the lack of goals achievable without resorting to weeks on the champ train that brings me down the worst. And contradictory goals too – I’d be saving up T6 mats for a Legendary (in prep for wave 2) if I didn’t keep spending through them to build up my crafting ranks. I’m happy to have all the 500s, but I can’t help looking at my bank tabs and thinking ‘crud, I’m back were I was 8 months ago on the Gifts of Might and Magic…"
With an expansion-based world I’m not typically telling my friends “Nah, don’t bother. You missed it all and you can’t do any of the stuff they introduced over the last year – it’s all come and gone.”
I’ve stepped out of an MMO for months or even years before and later returned to regular play (and spending), but I’ve never dealt with one that comes close to GW2 for telling you “and don’t come back.”
Playing Assassin’s Creed IV and getting a strange hankering for Huttball (SWTOR PvP mode).
Jora Corrupted is looking more like her old self than ever before .
(and she just hit level 30 a few minutes ago — Bear Form for the Win!)
Really? What’s being exchanged?
This has been an amazing glimpse into how much junk there is available through the gemstore I would never buy at any price .
I find rollercoasters way more fun that driving across the Midwest (flat, with a side of flat, and then about 18 hours more flat…)
We could use some ups and downs just to have new builds to talk about.
This is the type of upgrade to the system we will likely be making, but it is not a short-term project. We feel commanders aren’t getting enough mileage out of the system as it is now and we’d like to make it much, much more robust.
So… 7 months later with no changes. Other than the price to get a tag has gone up slightly.
Does that make this more of a “mid-term” project or has it graduated to “long-term” yet ?
I miss the Dredge Weapons Facility.
I miss the Queen’s Pavilion.
I’d go play those for a bit… If the game would let me.
If Dyes become account-wide, the demand for dyes will ebb down and their prices will drop.
Yes and no. There’s a lot of demand out there that says “for just one character isn’t worth it…” that will look at the (vastly) increased functionality and be moved to buy.
The current market goes down, but a whole new audience enters play.
I look forward to being proven wrong.
Like “easily farmable” has ever stopped people from paying ludicrous prices…
((eyes iron ore/ingots))
If the cooking recipe can produce account-wide Celestial/Abyss in the future, the cost of its mats is going to explode.
High end dyes? Are you kidding? Now is the time to corner Coriander Seeds and if you can’t see why, I’m not telling…
Then why is Spvp excluded?
Possibly because its another largely unrelated game .
But more seriously, SPvP dailies generate mystic coins, so sPvP can contribute to the process.
If clipping worries you, you should probably put the armor on before activating the makeover kit so you can see what you’re doing.
Looks like that’s the full makeover kit. I’m thinking it’s just a feature of the hairstyle kit only that removes the helm. If I buy another I’ll check it.
Do check. It was a full makeover kit and I’ve been wondering about the hairstyle kits.
Its not in the game yet.
There will almost certainly be a patch note when it is added.
If clipping worries you, you should probably put the armor on before activating the makeover kit so you can see what you’re doing.
As i have said many times before, there definitely should be a separate, WvW specific path to legendaries. The same for sPvP. PvE path however should stay PvE only, without PvP-dipping.
No, they really shouldn’t.
Legendary weapons are not promoted as the ‘play the way you like’ reward. They are promoted as the ‘play everything, and quite a bit of everything at that’ distinction.
As you can see from their actions, ArenaNet wants the process of crafting one to be more dependent on doing a variety of things not less. Don’t expect that direction to change.
Chrispy, in your proposed rules, I would replace “fix it” with "improve it’. Game design is generally not about binary states – there’s a lot of iteration and progressive adjustments rather than leaping directly from ‘broken’ to ‘perfect’ .
I’m not convinced making everybody the same in one tiny area of performance counts as “balance”.
Incidentally my Guardian does have +25% speed forever – its called runes.
I would scrap global attunement cooldown as the stat for the arcane line.
Instead I would set the base attunement cooldown to 15 seconds. Each of the 5-point minor traits in the Air, Earth, Fire, and Water Trait lines would — in addition to its current effect — reduce the cooldown for that element by 1.5 seconds. Each 15-point minor trait in those lines would reduce the cooldown for that attunement by another 3.5 seconds (for a total of 5 seconds).
The Arcane line stat bonus would be a morphing pool of 10-300 stat points that adds more of the two stats associated with each of the other Trait lines while you are in the matching attunement. So if you had 30 trait points in Arcane, you would have 300 morphing points. That would give you~
This puts the emphasis on attunement cooldown in the lines where you want to specialize while positioning them low enough in each line that you could scatter 15/15/15/15/0 with 10 points left over for and attunement dancing specialist.
The morphing points would allow you to use the Arcane line to reinforce what you’re doing with each elements rather than dilute it.
I still like how people use the “you are not forced to get a legendary” argument.
You are not forced to play the game either, so why should anyone give any criticism at all?
Try this argument:
Legendaries are not a given.
Not everyone will have one, even if they want one.
If you want to craft one, you need to do stuff. A lot of stuff. A lot of different stuff.
ANet was unsatisfied that the intended requirement of “play some WvW” was too easily circumvented. They’ve changed things so its now more difficult to circumvent it. You still can, but it’s more costly.
If the difficulty of acquiring a Legendary was never going to change over time, you’d still be able to use Godskull weapons to force a precursor out of the Mystic Forge. But it does change as they refine the process to be more in keeping with the “Displays a mastery of all aspects of play” prestige. Yes, the ability to buy one takes a big ol’ dump on that (something I sincerely hope the second wave of legendaries don’t suffer from), but the person who actually crafted it did uphold the premise. They did a lot of different stuff.
Guys… Its kind of important to remember that the Chinese release is a blank slate. They can do account bound dyes there because no one anywhere in that version of the game has EVER bought 2 dyes of the same color and used them on different characters.
We play in a very different environment, and making changes to the live servers that don’t infuriate your players has to respect that some of us have bought Abyss 3-4 times already and account bound solutions are going to either involve a LOT of dyes being refunded, or players being rightfully angry that they can get colors account bound now, but any past copies are just being written over without recompense.
There is a reason they haven’t said anything about what may or may not change in our client – because its not certain which way they’ll jump or if they even can code an equitable shift in paradigm.
This game will never be balance why? Because what I see is X player got killed by Y player then X player will go to the forum and l2p, qq ask for nerf equal no balance.
Gee. I can’t imagine why Developers regularly ignore such complaints…
I’m wondering why people take time to post on forums. Anet doesn’t respond, do anything that is asked, or help those that need.
I get them to respond, to do what I ask, and to help me.
If you want a response, you need to know where they are looking and present them with a question that they can answer.
To get them to do what you want you have to make a suggestion that they wish they had come up with.
If you want them to help you, put in a ticket to support. Explain your problem clearly and make it easy for them to help you.
Ever since the 1st of the new hairstyles were introduced up to now, how come they aren’t even in the character creation?
Because can you imagine the explosion of having new people get for free what long standing customers have to pay for? That way lies madness.
There are standard looks and there are premium ones, and the way you get premium ones is through a gemstore kits. Simple. Consistent. Fair.
The fact that you are upset is your own fault. Anet never said wxp accountbound was coming this patch. So don’t whine on the forums about it please. This is so silly.
No, they didn’t. But we all kinda assumed that they’d deliver it before launching another season because not doing so is silly.
Actual Plush Griffon.
Ok, yes, I’d buy one of those. Maybe two or three for gifts.
The feature patch isn’t this patch, this is what they’ve been calling the maintenance patch. I don’t know if anyone knows for sure when the big feature patch is supposed to be but it should be within a month so I expect to hear about it soon.
Those of us who were paying attention knew that today was maintenance. What we didn’t expect was Season 2 launching ASAP so that next Tuesday is the only window left to get the features patch out or we’re looking at a locked and static environment until the very end of May.
I don’t think I’m alone in not being real interested in playing a game that frozen in its current state for another two months…
I would buy GW2 FigurePrints in a heartbeat.
I tend to collect commissions over stock art, but I would consider nice 20$-40$ prints.
I’m thinking the ‘new shiny’ on the blade back packs has just about worn off.
You’re obviously happy enough with the rest of the rewards for what you’re doing to keep doing it. I don’t think they’re going to want to incentivize it even further…
The new hair was great for my lore-inspired villain Jora Corrupted .
It’s too late. Most people are quitting for either D3 or ESO after today’s patch. My 500 person guild just dissolved to move to D3… Anet got tons and tons of second chances, but people are just fed up with it now.
Why are people going to quit? Because they expected that today would be a large feature patch that A-net has said over and over again that it wouldn’t be?
No.
Because they painted themselves into a corner by launching the new season so quickly there is not room to get the feature patch out before the game is locked in gameplay stasis for 2 more months.
Maybe it’ll hit next week, but right now the picture is bleak, and its bleak because of the news about WvW Season 2.
Oh noes! The “mastery of all aspects of play” rewards ask you to WvW a few days.
Yes its harder than it was before – some changes to strengthen the theme/flavor of rewards do in fact mean players have had it too easy in the past.
I want to like them, but those swords just annoy me.
And why do legendary weapons get this and no one else?
Technically it could come out next week (March 25th).
