Specifically, I keep waiting to see some simple things:

1- Bug fixes for engineers and many other classes.

Other than listing them (already done) what is there to talk about? Beyond the conversation we’ve already had…

ArenaNet: That is a nice list. Thank you.

Players Everywhere: No, not “thank you”. FIX IT.

2- A graphics option to reduce/eliminate particle effect.

Another truly short conversation I think…

ArenaNet: Yeah, that’s a problem. We should add something like that to the menu structure.

Players Everywhere: Duh!

3- An option to filter TP armor not only by slot but also by light, medium, heavy.

See item 2. Word for word.

4- Increased build variety for classes. Instead of doing minor balancing changes to just a few skills to a few classes every couple of months, you are going to need to do some serious over-hauling to get some classes more than 2 or 3 builds. The game didn’t release at a close-to-balanced state to make such small changes like you have been doing. Make some bigger ones to some classes to get them some more variety to play styles!

Lets see what kind a stampede we get from looking at one class real hard before having every single “I love my main and all other professions can suck it” player show up at the same time

Thanks for your hard work Chris, and all of Anet! I do mean that sincerely! I love the game that you made, I just wish you were spending your time on the basic stuff of the game instead of where it is allocated now.

I don’t think having 4 people set to “outward-facing chat mode” is going to grind the entire enterprise to a halt . I suspect most of the bug-squashing coders are still chained to their desks… where they belong .

I do not care about any of these topics at all. I do not PvP, and I do not run Fractals because they take too long to complete. Roll again for new topics.

Technically that’s “lose one turn and roll again” .

Hopefully you’ll find the next wave more interesting, thought the WvW topic pretty much directly impacts open world gameplay, so you might want to check in on it occasionally if only to see how people are trying to mix some peanut butter in with your chocolate.

I am sorry to say that most of the things you want are kinda unrealistic.

how so?

I work in the programming industry, never specifically game design, (yet) but i understand game development more then your average person,
i dont see how any of the things i listed are unrealistic.

I specifically only added things that would be possible and not unrealisticly time consuming.

Different voice replacements wouldn’t be time consuming?
Nothing against this idea, it’s great but this would be the most time consuming and even the most expensive extension (hiring voice actors and stuff).

They’re already being hamstrung by having to bring in something like 50 or 60 voice actors (10 per language) to add so much as one line Hero of dialogue to the game. Nobody could seriously believe they want to push themselves even deeper down that black hole by increasing the number of Hero voices and the number of actors they have to call up.

Besides, why do you want to play a massively multi-player online game solo?

I’m here more for the persistent world and the ability to occasionally call up my friends and say “lets do a stroll across Orr tonight”, not because I have any special love of 10-20 thousand random people that also happen to be on my server at the time.

I’m in it for the ‘multiplayer’ M far more than the ‘massively’ M.

I’ll tell you a pve/wvw change I and many others like me would like to see. Take the WvW maps out of the map completion requirement. While I understand that you want us to experience all aspects of the game I really don’t enjoy being forced to put up will being ganked or even have to fight other players in order to gain the ability to make a legendary weapon.

The Creation of a Legendary weapon is by design an All-aspects-of-play undertaking.

I really don’t see them moving backwards in this regard. Especially now that they’ve field tested various “you must adventure” requirements in the Ascended tier. If anything, expect Legendary crafting to get harder. The Gift of battle requiring WvW levels is just one example of how they are demanding that you play the game and not just cash out a few achievement chests.

It makes very little sense to go back and redo old, completed work. It makes as much sense as George Lucas going back over Jedi and adding in the Vader “NOOOOOOO!” line…just a giant waste of time.

It makes absolute sense to have the binding narrative thread you try to ram every new customer/player through to be a showcase of current/best technology, rather than condemn them to 80+ hours of experience you now feel is sub-par.

Its more akin to digitally remastering the imagery than to tinkering with the dialogue.

I kind of think Scarlet discovered the Sylvari all have a sort of “Order 66” programed into them. They aren’t Dragon agents… until Mordremoth throws the switch.

Thing is Scarlet is a born rebel – its the very essence of her beings. So when she went into Omadd’s box and the switch tried to eat her from the inside, she did what she always does, what she must do: she rebelled. And now she’s trying to hunt down the power at the other end of the puppet strings and KILL IT, because that’s how Scarlet rolls. Obviously you just kill an Elder Dragon when you want the voices in your head to stop… No big deal, right?

HARMONY: Bringing PvE/PvP into tune

in Profession Balance

HARMONY: Bringing PvE and PvP skills into tune.

The greater the differences between the behavior of Player Heroes and Critters, the greater the call for splitting skills between PvP and PvE functionality. Four major differences mangle any prospect of balancing professions and the Damage, Support, and Control roles across all modes of play.

Skill Tempo. Weak Critter AI relies on only a small range skills with both long inductions and long cooldowns compared to Heroes streaming out actions as fast as their cooldowns allow. This makes dodging, interupts, and Blind highly effective while trivializing Retaliation and Torment. This balance reverses itself against human opponents who tend to be extremely mobile and may make over a dozen attacks across the span of 3-4 seconds. Making Mob AI generally more creative with more boons and multi-hit attacks while looking for opportunities to make Player skills slightly more ‘bursty’ (greater effect/impact, longer cooldown) could bring the two aspects of play more in tune.

Many on One: Where Conditions go wrong. World Bosses and other major NPC are often deployed against 10 to 50 Heroes. Problems with Condition Damage vs. Direct Damage become wildly apparent. Mobs of all sorts need to be equipped with active or passive condition cleansing skills (or both). This would allow condition-heavy groups to achieve a form of soft-control as the boss is forced to spend a certain amount of time cleansing itself rather than attacking. Active abilities that selectively convert conditions to boons or transfer conditions to nearby heroes would also greatly increase the variety and strategy of gameplay – they produce specialized risks but again occupy the boss with active skill use, taking time way from its main DPS rotation.

The New Defiance. Control is unquestionably the role most hamstrung by sharp dichotomies between PvPlayers and PvCritters. The Unshakable/Defiance mechanic needs two major changes to makes Control more valuable in PvE and less frustrating in PvE (through the horrors of stun-lock…). First, stacks of Defiance decay – a character with Defiance loses one stack every two seconds since they last gained or lost Defiance. This provides a natural countdown while allowing groups with high volumes of control effects to drill through the shield as they do now. Second, ALL PLAYERS now gain 1 stack of defiance each time they suffer the effects of control. With Players now slightly resistant to stun-lock, and Critters less reliant on long inductions, the extreme cooldowns on most Control effects could be trimmed making them less meaningless in Boss encounters.

Ferocity vs. Guts. Rather than having some critters be 100% completely immune to critical hits, Heroes and Critters have access to a new Stat: Guts. Guts is subtracted from the attacker’s Ferocity on a 1:1 basis before determining if an attack is a critical hit. This allows some Critters to be exceptionally difficult to crit against without completely negating a player’s choice of stats. It also provided some value to builds that have over a 95% critical chance as the excess Ferocity acts as a buffer against the target’s Guts. Finally, it adds a new Hero stat that can be used to create new Traits and gear stat-combinations.

You could have transmuted it to re-skin white items (I’ve moved cultural armor from character to character before – I know this works) but only while the temp character exists. The account bound white item can then be safely stored.

If you have an open slot, you might try recreating the temp character with the exact same name if it’s available. That may allow you to pull it from the bank. Not likely, but worth exploring.

medium armor costumes as a warrior?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nike.2631

Nike.2631

The three armor classes have different construction and fitting for how all the pieces work together. Mixing them would result in horrid clipping, naked spots, and other problems.

You say that like its not true within armor weight categories now .

Having different frameworks allows them to a create a broader range of styles with fewer technical issues. For example: players can’t try to pair a long coat with a billowy robe/skirt, so they have more freedom when designing either element.

Or you could let players use all he tools and decide for themselves what degree of clipping is tolerable or avoid it entirely by their choices.

We used to be able to mix armor weights in the preview screen and the potential was a thousand-fold greater than what we have now. the problem was sometimes the skins glitched, and it was actually quite EASY to correct that by reapplying the glitched item to the preview – it could always be corrected in “one move”. If that one move could be automated, we’d at least have that functionality back. Being able ot actually wear those mixes in the world and not just the preview screen would be almost too awesome to contemplate…
