If you expect to play a pure healer you should understand that the game isn’t built for that and your build and performance will suck. Don’t blame game balance for pure healers being bad when, as you can clearly read, the developers never intended them to be good. If the quote was, “healing will be huge in our game and pure healing characters will be a major cornerstone of combat” then you might have a point.

I’m not even sure Grenadier needs to be banned in groups. For boss or dungeon solos its a bit OP, but I don’t think its at all upsetting 5 man group balance. I don’t think either of them needs a vote at all TBH.

I’ll try to be as constructive as possible: if you know full well that option #1 would result in the banning of Fire Magic from elementalists and thus reduce the ruleset to a joke, why would you even include it as an option? And please, do not reply with “its up to the voters to figure out the implications of their vote” bs. If you know there will be a harmful result from a vote you should probably not offer that as an option until you can reword it in a way that won’t carry the result. If you’re going to stick with the “people should know what they are voting for” line, I really want to know if your goal is to curate rules for the community or to create word-traps to trick people into breaking the ruleset, because that is what the result would be.

The entire reason we are having these votes is this “common sense” which made lots of people wonder what rules and decisions actually mean when they are enforced based on “common sense”.
And in case you haven’t still noticed, you guys are making these decisions, not me. There is an option for case by case if people want that.
Maybe instead of including an option that would outright ban Fire Magic, you figure out how to word it to allow Fire Magic but not allow things like Symbolic Avenger spam or Grenadier? Otherwise now we have the following options for issue 1…
1. turn the ruleset into a joke and ruin the game

The only thing Im worry about Issue 1 is that the entire Fire Magic trait line is giving an undocumented additional 150 power just by having it selected. It would be fairly ludicrous to ban Elementalists from using the entire Fire Magic traitline, if we went with the strict wording of the rule, which is what you have indicated in the past you wish to do.

Even if they fix the symbol trait bug the build will be really quite viable. Perma-protection, perma-quickness, significant passive healing, good might stacking etc make it rather easy mode even still.

NIKE is right its not as bad as you think. Condi warrior good for soloing, not that great in groups. However due to the condi stack changes it isn’t as bad as you think. Before the patch the gap between condi warrior and power warrior on boss solo was very small. Some people said condi warrior could solo Lupi faster.
As I said before not good for dungeons groups.
That’s all relative. Is condi warrior as good as the best possible warrior build? No. Is condi warrior better than the best possible Necro build? Yes. Mesmer?
Yes. Would anyone even notice that they had a condi-warrior (who can spec for EA and PS in groups) since the dps is rather small when total group dps is considered? Probably not. The concept of kicking a condi warrior I found hilarious since a condi warrior is more useful and has better dps than quite a few “acceptable” meta builds for other classes.

Engie has roughly equal dps to Thief, even without the grenade trait so long as the fight is long enough to require the thief to auto attack ever.

After some testing yesterday, Tactics is better than Strength. Burning Arrows reduces the cool down of Pin Down which means you can restack burning every 20 seconds instead of every 25.
And no, it does not out DPS zerker.

CMp3 is actually much lamer than p1 and p2. CoEp2 husk is a bit more interesting than Destroyer.
COEp3 is too similar to p2 so one or the other is preferred. CMp3 is fine, but we wanted to stick with the concept of two paths per dungeon.

Could you please do something about the way paths are selected this time?
I know that they paths are picked by a script that selects completely random paths, but to make things less repetitive for the viewers I think it’d be better if there actually was some variety. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the only one with this opinion, but I’d just hate to see another tournament where it feels like every second path is CM or HOTW.

Death and Taxes Presents: The Trio Invitational Competitive PvE Tournament
Overview: Teams of three will compete head to head in a race to complete randomly selected dungeon paths in the shortest time. Quickly and efficiently clearing these paths with only three party members will be a test of individual playskill, preparation and build selection; the winner of this competitive PvE tournament will be the team who can lay claim to the prestige of being counted among the game’s most elite PvE players.
The Format: Teams will race randomly selected dungeon paths streamed side by side against their opponents. They will be matched up in a best three out of five format, with the winner advancing. The semi finals will be a best of seven and the finals will be a best of nine.
No dungeon path will be run a second time in the tournament before all other paths have been run once. Once all paths have been run once, the list of possible paths will be reset.

The Teams: Guilds may enter multiple teams. Each team must have at least one member live streaming on twitch to participate.

The original member will be allowed to return to the team the next day, if applicable. This will allow for unforeseen circumstances to be covered without allowing the alternative to be used for gamesmanship.

when you have all 5 of the same class, there is always something that get “abused”. Like 5 mesmers, 15 phantasms going at boss, or chained time bubble. Or 5 shout heal warriors. It’s pointless to argue at the extremity of things.

One thing I can say, thank god they nerfed boon duration from traits. Could you imagine how nutty it would be if every Guardian had 30% more boon duration from Virtues?
Obviously the cool down of FMW should be around 60 seconds, but even then it wouldn’t stop this build. The only thing that kept the book balanced before was the long cast time and fact you couldnt do anything else while the book was out and it didn;t stack in duration with each other.
They need to really do a close look at Quickness and Slow before they Chronomancer comes out.

I don’t think many professions will be bringing more assassins gear than they had before. Ele would have, but now they can use Sig of Fire or LH standard so it evens out. Pretty much just Mesmer is using assassins pieces, and they already did that.

The fact that they didn’t nerf Ice Bow should let you all know that the “over powered builds” they are referencing have nothing to do with PvE balance. I wouldn’t expect direct damage pve based builds to be nerfed too badly, outside of bug fixes.

I kind of think it’s pointless too because they pretty much openly declared that they plan to be nerfing things as they are aware of how overpowered everyone’s damage is, especially condi builds.
I expect lots of traits to change.
Dunno. I already wish the patch did not happen because right now it feels like it did during the early days when I played SNES and entered cheat codes for games that I played. It was highly entertaining at first to have god mode, but its appeal greatly diminishes. I expected buffs but not on this magnitude I guess.
If only there was a way, if things somehow change in relevant ways in a future patch, to update that information and let it be known.

That isn’t how it works. Increasing crit damage by 20% even at 100% crit chance is not anywhere near a 20% dps boost, as the crit damage bonus doesn’t improve the base damage before crit. A 20% damage boosting trait is far, far superior since it applies 20% damage boost to both the base damage and crit damage.
