Mesmers are always wanted for CoF path 1 farms because they can portal the group past the boulders (for now) and time-warp is useful for mini-bosses. If you’re not playing a high-dps build people might be disappointed with what you bring to the group, since other classes play support roles a lot better.
Is it possible to see the stream recorded somewere, or is there a sum somewere that i can read?
You can watch the videos on Twitch.tv

There’s also a ‘transcript’ on Dulfy’s site, although it’s sort of a paraphrase rather than an actual transcript, so grains of salt and all.

Wells and Greater Marks are definitely strong. We’ll just have to wait and see.
I also really enjoyed this video. You play very well for someone so new to the necro class, so I am going to go out on a limb here and assume your previous class had to have been a melee one. Your reactions are very good in that environment, which is something I can’t boast, having almost exclusively run a ranged condition build for so long.
I have a mesmer/warrior/thief too. I’m collecting bits of footage from each so hopefully I’ll have some more videos. Definitely more stuff for necro as well.
I’d be careful about which questions you ask, especially if they don’t want to talk about it. They banned a lot of people from the channel last time for pressuring them about sPvP and other touchy subjects. This is more of a PR thing for them than an actual Q&A.
Mesmer is really good at not getting hit due to the plethora of movement/teleport/invulnerability skills and the ability of illusions to distract PvE mobs. Most mesmer builds don’t have the volume of healing to really make the most of toughness and there isn’t an armor set with Power/Prec/Vit, so Berserker is usually the best option even if it leaves gaps in your survivability.
which foods are you using?
I generally use Omnomberry Pies. They go well with the high crit rate and attacks/second. I’m sure other foods would work but they’re a favorite of mine.
Were you the dude in the Jumping puzzle that I messaged?
No.
Are you using the vampiric precisions trait and is it effective?
I’ve used it a lot, but I’m on the fence as to whether it’s worth taking over the Greater Marks and Mark of Evasion traits. The individual lifesteal for each hit is fairly small but they really add up over a long fight. If I had lower crit or wanted to rely more on staff I don’t think I’d bother because giant marks are really powerful.
Yeah, I was definitely flubbing the finishers on a lot of people. I was under the impression that shroud stomping had been ‘fixed’, but I see now that people are saying otherwise in a couple threads.
Thanks for the responses. I think Necro has a lot of potential as a solo class. It will be interesting to see how the rumored changes to DS affect that.
I don’t think I saw much noncrit hits in that video.
My crit is something like 61%, plus the 5% from my MH sigil and whatever I have from the OH perception sigil. I also have pretty decent access to fury, so getting >90% is definitely a possibility.
A little off topic but with all the drama about transfers this week and the 2013 announcement. Paid transfer seeming like they are coming sooner rather then later. And the recent server population expansion. Do you guys think the top 10-15 servers are about to get more transfers? Do you think it was done on purpose to maybe weed out some of the lower population servers? Just thinking
Closing servers is a huge deal for an MMO developer because it’s an admission that the population has dropped substantially. For that reason it’s normally done far too late to be of much use other than propping up a game that’s basically dead. I don’t think GW2 is at that point but I could definitely see people taking advantage of transfers while they’re still free.
Also check out my ELITE -=:420:=- 360noscope [MLG] 1v1 video from this week’s matchup.
I don’t get why everyone is getting bent by this Jessy Cox, sucker. Sure he prematurely objected to how Goon was handling their junk. It’s not like what he spit out all over youtube was more than a mouthful anyhow. He laid it on a bit thick, I agree but im sure once he got it off his chest he knew he probably blew an opportunity to turn around and take it back. I say hands off, and let him shake it out on his own.
It’s not so much ‘getting bent’ as it is flat out making fun of him for making up idiotic conspiracies about goonie hackers as an excuse for being clueless and terrible.
I haven’t really settled on a final build. I like the 30pts in Soul Reaping because having a 5s CD on DS gives you better situational access to the DS abilities, namely the fear, and lets you phase in and out for the fury buff without gimping yourself too much. There are definitely compelling arguments for shifting around 10 or 20 pts here and there and a lot of the builds I used took other traits in lieu of Near to Death.
Nothing really stood out as ‘the best’ though.
I followed the general principle of prioritizing Berserker stats on Hands/Feet/Shoulders/Amulet/Weapons, with the rest being a mix. It’s not necessarily the best setup. I was sort of running out of cash and bought a few pieces with dungeon tokens, but it works.
Berserker and Knight mixed together is probably the best bet if you’re looking to add some survivability. I have a few rampager pieces as well, and my stats look like this…
I posted a video of some power necro gameplay as well, if you’re interested.

I made a quick compilation of some fights I had during this week’s Mag/DR/BP matchup.
I hit 80 just before the holidays and have only played it for a week since then, so I’m using a lot of different builds in the video and make some silly mistakes.
As most of you know, wells are really strong so I’ve tried to use them in combination with Locust Swarm and DS4 to achieve something resembling burst damage. I’m also sticking with dagger and warhorn. I feel the LF generation, DPS, and root on that set outweigh the range limitation in most cases.
This is the base build I’m using. Sometimes I use the lifesteal traits, sometimes I go for marks. My gear is a mix of Berserker, Knight, and Rampager.

So how is the roaming population in this Tier?
Fuggin DB/Yaks are horrible players and only offer a challenge when grossly out numbering you.
I’ve only seen a handful of groups from BP/DR out looking for fights. I’ve noticed a bit more on maguuma, but we have better participation in general so that’s not surprising. That being said, DR seems pretty organized despite not having a lot of numbers so roaming might not be a priority for them at this point. Nobody really stood out to say for sure.
people want to and enjoy winning.
You must be new here. We, as a server, are not about the win. If you’re looking to win match ups, Mag isn’t the server for that to happen. We’ve won exactly 5 out of 53 matches (6 after this week). The only time we win is when we need to get back to T4. T1-3 is terrible game play. Nobody wants to go there.
Sit back and enjoy competitive battles in the Maguuma tier. Grandiose plans to move up is for the birds.
I’ve been on maguuma since headstart. Saying people don’t like to win is asinine, of course they do. This is the most active the server has been since before Halloween, solely because it’s a blowout. They obviously don’t like to lose because mag has been a ghost town the handful of times that we’ve fought competent people that can run groups on multiple maps.
I couldn’t care less whether maguuma wins or loses and don’t plan on contributing any time soon. I’m content with logging in to gank people even when we’re losing, which is why I find myself alone in our BL so often.
I don’t see Maguuma doing well next week. We don’t have the EU/Ocean timezone coverage to hold things overnight and our US pop will become ghosts after a few wipes.
There have been matchups in the last several weeks where the only thing Maguuma fielded was a handful of gankers, and people are used to coasting into 2nd over a dead server.
You say this like Mag actually wants to win T4 match ups.
You say this like I say that like Mag has any choice in the matter. I think the turnout we have for what is very much a blowout is pretty indicative that people want to and enjoy winning. It’s just not going to happen.

This thread has so much honoure.
Looks like a pretty good build for farming open-world PvE mobs.
How do two dead servers produce so much drama? I’m actually sort of impressed.
“We didn’t know that getting into an enemy citadel and killing afk players was considered an exploit.”
Implying that the server hoppers aren’t scrubs.
I can’t wait to see the infraction for that one.
Thanks for keeping us abreast of your personal opinion of other posters.
Are you using a potato as a graphics card?
After having not played GW2 for a little over a month, I have to congratulate Anet on managing to make lag/culling worse. Bravo.
There’s no point in blaming people. WvW is 99% timezone coverage. Anyone that thinks they have some unique contribution as an individual or even as a group is out of their mind. Commanders and Alliances and HardXCore WvW guilds are non-factors.
DR is not going to keep up this week. We will get dominated from the start. We have had tool many weak sauce pansies that have jumped ship to other servers. Server jumpers should have to pay to move.
Sadly, people like this is 90% of DR’s population.
Are you saying that 90% are ‘weak sauce pansies’ or that 90% are people that complain about said sauced flowers? Perhaps they are one in the same.
Is this weird lag or something else?
I transferred to Maguuma for the erotic fanfic. Winning in WvW is just a bonus.
This is a fun game that I enjoy with friends. I respect the other servers for doing their best.
Ingredients
1 cup thawed, chopped frozen spinach
11/2 cups thawed, chopped frozen artichoke hearts
6 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
Boil spinach and artichokes in 1 cup of water until tender and drain. Discard liquid. Heat cream cheese in microwave for 1 minute or until hot and soft. Stir in rest of ingredients and serve hot.
The Borlis Pass warrior from [Gods] should be a little less obvious about hacking or a little bit better at warrior. At least teleport far enough that I can’t see you.
Maguuma vs. two dead servers. How thrilling.
FT is a trash kit.
B-b-but it looks so cool! Alongside with bugged and glitchy skills.
No you see it has might stacks. Entire stacks of might.
FT is a trash kit.
Trolling would be encouraging you to actually try this build in PvP, as opposed to making a video of you bunny hopping around HotM while reading tool-tips.
thanks for bumping my thread
What a puppet master.

The change was yesterday, how can one be doing a build “for months” when it became viable yesterday?
It is marginally better by virtue of a superior option being nerfed while one aspect of this build gets buffed.
Congrats on combining FT with Juggernaut. Truly an original masterpiece.
In the grand scheme of things you are just a dumbfounded Mike Myers, hoping that someone cuts to b-roll before you pass out.
‘Your welcome’
I have a job for you:
Get punched in the dick for a week.
After that I give you $5.
Because that is what this is.

Short of having tested before & after in PvP with steady weapons it’s pretty hard to say.
By chance, I had done this exact thing to test the force/accuracy sigils in a different thread…
Today, under the same conditions, I’m getting roughly the same numbers.
Anet balances around tournament PvP, not PvE.
Anet dont balance at all.
Since BWE1 there were engineer nerfs in every single patch. While the class that actually ruins WvW, that is played by 50% of the WvW population is buffed.
lmao you consider WvW to be PvP. It’s just a bunch of scrubs/lowbies shooting doors and npcs.
I’m on the verge of quiting this game myself. ANET is not what i expected, and i thought that they would be different from everyone else but its just the same old same old.
I monthly buy gems, but not anymore. Since this is F2P i can’t really say im “quitting”, however im not going to play this game anymore and im simply just not going to support ANET anymore (money wise).
ANET, all i can say is you are a big appointment.
