I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about lag as well. It’s particularly bad in populated areas and seems to mess with culling as well.
Hello,
I have always considered myself a good gamer.
This is the impression that most people have. Unfortunately, it’s not always the truth. WvW isn’t a competitive format, so you’ll be starting from scratch.
Ranger is great for solo PvE, but the pet falls flat in dungeons. Warrior is probably the best choice if all your’e doing is PvE.
This is a great idea, I can’t believe nobody has thought of it.
I duel wheeled sword all the time in wubwub and find it viaball.
It works for me in PvE.
Why am I experiencing such bad performance? Oh, also I run dual display. I’m not sure if that effects anything.
The game simply runs poorly on most machines. You’ll undoubtedly pick up a few FPS if you follow the link above. Pay special attention to the sections on CPU/GPU bottlenecks and experiment a bit to find the graphics settings that give you the best performance.
My Stomp keeps missing in WvW. what could be the cause of this?
A lot of people are having problems with lag and a host of other server issues. One of these issues is that objects/people will appear to you in the wrong position. As a result, your client says you can stomp someone but the server says there’s nobody there to stomp. Ideally both actions would be controlled by the server, but Anet has offloaded a lot of the processing tasks to the client in order to cut costs on servers.
Nobody seems to know why the game has become so laggy as of late, so don’t expect a fix.
Is this what’s happening to you?

It hits for 3-6k after the 25% nerf? Dang.
MSI Afterburner’s OSD collides with GW2 somehow.
try changing OSD rendering mode to “Vector 2D”. it seems to fix the porblem.
Thanks for the tip. I tried 2D, and even disabling the OSD, but it still locks up.
Edit: tried Dxtory and Bandicam without OSD and those don’t work either.

The simplest solution would be to setup SSH or a VPN on your computer, or another computer outside of his network.
Buy a computer with the processor you want from the Dell outlet and shove a low-power video card and an extra stick of RAM in it. It will be cheaper and faster than anything you can get from megaultrapctimeUSAnumber1.cn or anywhere else, because they’re just buying the parts on Newegg and charging you 20% for putting them together.
It might not have neon lights or laser engraving, but it will come with a monitor and fit your budget.
Update: Still crashing with latest beta drivers.
Is anyone else having problems with video capture software? I’m getting reproducible crashes since the 28th. So far I’ve tried Dxtory with several codecs (huffyuv, lagarith, dxtory, uT) as well as MSI Afterburner. I can record in other games fine, and haven’t changed anything of note on my computer. I’m thinking it might be a video driver issue or a problem with GW2 itself, since I’ve had problems on and off with GW2 crashing upon startup when Dxtory was already open.
I have a Radeon HD 6950 with driver version 12.100.17.0 on 64bit Win7. I’ll try the newest beta driver and see how that goes.
GS in WvW? Seems not like a good idea.
Same here. Axe is a much better weapon for WvW. You see a lot of GS because people don’t like to respec for PvP, don’t know better, or are more concerned about gold/cosmetics.
I posted a build and video a few weeks back that fits that description. It’s a bit more aggressive than some of the other builds floating around but I think it fits your description.

This could sometimes happen when using the traits “Shared Anguish” and “Hide in
Plain Sight” together.
I’ve noticed the pet being stealthed (transparent outline) without Shared Anguish slotted. Maybe the pet gets its own copy of Hide in Plain Sight. Either that or the traits are bugged. Shocker.
So, mag, how is SM from ehmry bay treating you? They working alright, any problems?
Let me know, greets.
Who?
Traps are going to get nerfed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they also disabled HiPS and the other stealth abilities as a band-aid to the problems they have in WvW.
Edit: Also Empathic Bond.

Lag and rubber-banding like nobody’s business. Maybe someone at Nexon wanted to reduce overhead.
You also have to consider that consumables can’t be used in sPvP, and that’s really all Anet cares about with regard to balance.
I can’t imagine this ever making its way into the game. It’s a great idea, but I don’t think Anet really has the resources in their live team to make changes like this.
I’d wager that 1/3 of the people in WvW aren’t even 80/geared, and the majority of what remains is probably running PvE gear and an equally kittenty build.
Most of the people in WvW are horrible either by default or performance, so it’s not surprising that there are videos for every class showing 1v1 wins. ‘Skill’, whatever that might be, can certainly trump the limitations of a particular class simply because the ‘skill’ of most of the people in WvW is so low.
That being said, I think that most classes have OK solo builds, and class doesn’t really matter when you’re in a zerg, which is where most people are.
Dead matchup, dead servers, etc. Bringing this thread back from the second page.
The Life of an OG, http://youtu.be/Cf4BpfDKtEo.
Some footage from today, in Yak’s BL was fun. Some OG team fights and some solo ranger roaming.
This is a great video. I saw one of your others and didn’t realize you were on Maguuma.
Course servers want to get situated at the top before the lock down, and are recruiting like crazy to end up there. But not sure why that should be desired. I think its far more preferable to end up in a middle tier, where we will never see long queues, maybe some short ones at reset at worst, and then have competitive matches every week once populations stabilize. One thing YB has is still mostly the same players and identity it always did. Top 3 tiers, probably well over 50% of those servers are just mercenaries, transplants from elsewhere. So you joined a server already winning big whoop.
I don’t think Maguuma has a chance at staying in the top 2 tiers and I certainly don’t want to deal with queues. We haven’t fought anyone for the last three weeks, so the blowouts are hardly an indicator of future performance. I think we’ll settle into T3 in time. It will be hard to sink lower than that given that there is a bit of a ‘dead server’ buffer in the lower tiers due to people consolidating on the higher pop servers.
The whole thing with maguuma not actively recruiting is such a crock. People here have been after guilds from other servers since the start, and the only reason we’ve come up this far is because of the transfers. The people playing it down like the transfers aren’t welcome are the same ones trying to grab them up into whatever crap alliance/conglomerate/coalition we have this week. Recruitment and attempts at organization haven’t been this prevalent for months.
I’m going to guess that the damage component will be removed from wells that have one.
Marks will have a reduced size when traited, or Greater Marks will be moved to be a Master or GM trait.
I can’t imagine that the new DS UI, if one even exists, will be in this patch. There are probably still a lot of bugs with DS itself that would have only surfaced with a better look at what’s going on with LF and boons/conditions.
Outside of that, they seem to be pretty satisfied with the other weapon sets so changes there seem unlikely.
Wells and marks are going to get nerfed for sure.
This is really a case of ‘fraps or it didn’t happen’.
That’s unfortunate. Maybe once people are rewarded for their progress in WvW, there will be more dedicated players. We can only hope.
It really boils down to how they incentivize it. If they keep a similar scheme to how badges/karma/etc are handed out it won’t really matter because you need a somewhat dominant position to make the most of taking towers and keeps as the main source of progression.
I’m excited that they mentioned rewarding short-term and individual accomplishments, but like you said only time will tell.
If there’s nerfs though, I seriously will cry.
Traps are getting nerfed.
Just out of curiosity, what server was this on? A few people fought a dude with the same weapon/pet set tonight who was really tough. I fought him too and neither myself nor anyone else saw anything wonky going on.
Edit: My money is on culling if it is indeed the same guy.

There are definitely a lot of potential issues with a system that involves gold or equivalent items, but sPvP is desperately in need of a feeder system and the WvW player-base is the most obvious choice. WvW isn’t terribly rewarding in terms of gold, so even a small amount would be enough incentive to complete the PvP dailies at the very least. I don’t know where Anet thinks tournament PvP is going when most of the existing GW2 players don’t even have a casual interest in it.
plz try 2 have honour on the battlefield and postingfield.
I just got done dueling that same Ranger, good duels Ioj ranger. 2-1 in his favor before I had to leave. Ended up just killing your pets and using Moa as a cooldown gap filler. Feels scummy.
It’s a good thing we aren’t allowed to know his name, otherwise it might diminish our sense of server pride and lead us to harass him on the forums.
~fartz~
Mad props to the guildless IoJ ranger running around with the phantasm GS and IDS. Are you running something like this?

Warrior isn’t going to get nerfed. The biggest offenders are the ranged gtAoEs like Wells, Marks, Traps, Cluster Bomb, and to a lesser extent Grenades and a handful of Ele skills.
You’re better off taking traits and stats that will allow you to fuel your Life Force generation and relying on DS to soak up damage until your heals and defensive abilities come off of cooldown. Healing Power is rarely worth taking, doesn’t help your actual defenses, and runs counter to increasing your DPS.
Your link doesn’t appear to have any utilities listed. Infusion of Shadow is also a better choice than Hidden Thief.
What’s the name of the Power/Prec/Vit accessories? I don’t see any with those stats.
WARNING: LONG POST
~points to dilz~
Mesmers are always wanted for CoF path 1 farms because they can portal the group past the boulders (for now) and time-warp is useful for mini-bosses. If you’re not playing a high-dps build people might be disappointed with what you bring to the group, since other classes play support roles a lot better.
When you say high DPS does my condition build count? I am using MrPrometheus’ staff build which I am really enjoying as I like how it cranks ups the condition damage.
What build is welcome in a Dungeon?
I don’t know what build that is, and while I am sure that the author will claim ‘high’ DPS I generally wouldn’t consider condition builds to fit that description. As others have said, conditions aren’t great for PvE due to the cap and this is especially true for mesmer because confusion performs much worse on mobs than it does on players. That being said, if you can use Time Warp and manage to not die then you’ll at least pass under the radar even if you’re not contributing much.
The highest DPS will generally be either Berserker for power builds or Rampager for condition builds. Power Necro DPS will never be spectacular but they have a lot of tools like DS, blind, weakness, etc that can help you improve survivability without having to sacrifice your base stats like other classes often need to.
For power builds, I don’t think that toughness and vitality are the most important factors for survival. DS is essentially a second HP bar, so a lot of your survivability will come from being able to generate a lot of life force so that you can use DS to soak damage. Traits like Reaper’s Precision and Soul Marks can give you a lot of LF, and will fit in with a high precision build.
If you want a condition build I’d suggest looking at a mix that has condition damage on every piece, with the other stats being 2 of either power, precision, or toughness. Don’t be tempted to neglect power, as a portion of your damage still comes from direct attacks, and that portion will scale to be more important as you get a higher crit rate. This is even more important when fighting large groups of trash, as your effective DPS from conditions will be lower due to mobs likely dying before the max duration.
They’re going to get nerfed on the 28th, so the least they could do is make them look better. :P
Hey, after watching your video, I switched my spec to run something similar. Do you mind telling me how much Power, Precision and toughness you currently have? The editor isn’t showing it properly. I want to know how much I should shoot for. Thank you so much. Very nice skills, man. I hope you keep making videos!
Thanks. I linked my skill sheet earlier in the thread. I don’t think the stats matter as much as the general playstyle. You could easily drop some toughness for more offensive stats to deal more damage, or drop crit-damage for toughness and have a little more EHP. There are times where I’ve considered both options. I don’t think condition damage is as useful as I originally had, so I might consider dropping that first.
So there is some dumb cat thing outside of one of our towers now with a yak that’s ramming the gate. I guess this is a breakout event?
Excuse me while I grind down its 10,000,000 HP.
Well gs is by far best warrior weapon for 1 vs 1 situations and i will explain you why.
Bad players are the ones that die to GS, which is why it’s so popular in hotjoin and WvW. Some of the devs have gone so far as to say that outright. That hardly helps your case. Axe can do anything GS can do, only better. 7k Eviscerate is also kind of weak.
I have this one on my necro and it’s fairly large.
