it is most likely that the game is now able to be processed more by your graphics card. have you perhaps disabled vertical sync? usually this means your graphics card will aim to produce as many Frames Per Second that it can meaning if its only running at 80% and producing 75fps then it will work harder until it reaches 95+ %.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
something doesn’t look quite right with that DxDiag you have a 4GB page file and your pc is currently using 3.7GB this suggests to me that you have quite a lot of task running on your pc. It might be worth looking into that aswell as the graphics card issue.

I don’t see why this isn’t possible? steam do it every year and display their stats on things like most popular CPU, most used OS, etc. you could even group stats into most commonly used hardware.

Yuri,
Try disabling the Reflections and shaders/shadows options or atleast set to low for testing, there is a known bug that when these are set to high/ultra they can affect FPS dramatically when turning your camera view.

Hi Yuri,
I have the same processor as you and currently have no overclock enabled on the processor. I also use it in conjunction with a Nvidia Geforce GTX480.
I get an average of 50 – 60 fps on high details but the settings I disable are reflections and shaders as they have known bugs that affect your FPS when turning the camera.
I don’t believe the cpu to be a bottleneck but others on these forums seem to think these generation of processors are “outdated”.

Just a thought, if you have a programable keyboard or gaming keyboard that allows creating scripts, you could configure it to do all this on one key press, for example.

Hi seveer,
You can attach the log document to your post just like any other forum, this allows us to view the details without any of the text being shown.
95% memory usage is high, is that before guild wars 2 starts or after? both are still bad situations as running out of memory is when you’ll notice the biggest slow downs since the computer then has to substitute hard drive space as memory (hard drives are slow compared to RAM).
Also attaching an image of GPU-Z and CPU-Z wouldn’t hurt, if you can then the memory page on CPU-Z would also be beneficial to help recommend which memory upgrades could help (if thats an option you wish to consider).
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Hi Seveer,
Would you be able to run the Guild Wars Game Advisor program on you computer so that we can see the report?
also there are many things we can try to get your frame rate decent enough to enjoy the game.
I currently use the following system:
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Intel Quad Core Q9550 @ 2.8GHz
4GB DDR2-800MHz Ram
Nvidia GTX480
I am enjoying the game very well and I am reaching between 50fps – 60fps with vsync enable and most settings on high details and around 30+ fps on WvWvW.
As you can see my cpu is from around the same age as yours, although slightly faster I do not think that this makes a huge difference in the performance gap, its more likely to do with the graphics card I have.
now one of the major concerns is that your system currently has 2.1GB of Memory, this memory has to be shared between the Operating System and any other programs or resources that require it. On Windows Vista this could easily be in the margins of 600MB – 1GB of you memory used before you even start guild wars 2 (which has minimum requirement of 2GB) this in a worse case scenario would only leave around 1GB of freely usable memory.
The second problem you will face is your Operating System (Windows Vista) its currently a 32-bit operating system which limits your choices when choosing to upgrade your memory. If you wanted to add more memory to your computer it would be advisable to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system (preferable Windows 7 rather than vista).
There is also the option of maintenance, depending on how well you keep you computer. You can help your computer perform better under stres by physically cleaning the hardware i.e. Cleaning out any dust from the p.c. and the fans. Keeping your operating system in good shape is also very important, having too many open programs running in the background could lower the overall resources available to the game when it tries to run.
Finally there are other options available, such as previously suggested route: overclocking. Others include upgrading or buying a new system.
I personally believe with a bit optimising and possibly and upgrade in Memory and OS could gain reasonable results without forking out for a whole new system. Please bear in mind that the game is still in a constant state of change as Arena net work hard to better optimise the game for everyone.

It sounds like your game has detected corrupted files as I don’t remember the latest patch being that big (unless you have multiple patches to download).
Also you could be at 900MB with 10,000 files left to download but those 10,000 files could be rather small files and only come to a total of 10MB. Instead of reporting 99% completion the game will report 33% since you have only downloaded 33% of the total number of files.
Its a bit confusing and doesn’t give any real indication of how long is left in your download.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Hi Faildom,
How do you know the patch is 2.8GB?
the game menu percentage goes up depends on the number of files left to download not the amount of data left to be downloaded.
If it really is 2.8GB then perhaps part of your local game files has become corrupted and the client has been forced to re-download new copies for you.

HI Melchiz,
Have you defragmented your hard disk drive? If you have solid state drives, this is not required. However if you have a normal hard drive, this could potentially lower your loading times.

Hi Easyryder.
I know it can be frustrating when your have waited so long to play this game, I have too.
I noticed all of your testing options above have related to your computer or your local network, but nothing has been tested to check your internet connection itself. Also your internet connection between you and your Internet provider can take multiple different routes to reach each other. The routes in between you and your internet provider could also easily be causing all this hassle for you.
The first thing to note is that even with a seemingly good internet connection there can still be dropped internet packets, or corrupted data received.
Now understanding this we can run a few checks that may help us troubleshoot your current issue.
The first thing you can do is trace the route your computer takes to reach the internet. You can do this by going to:
Windows Vista / 7
Start > Type “command prompt” in search box.
Windows XP
Start > Run > Type “cmd” > Hit enter key.
Now once the Command Prompt windows appears ( a small black box windows with white text )
Type this then hit enter: tracert www.google.com
This will take a couple of minutes to complete afterwards you can copy the results by highlighting the text and pressing [Enter]. If you cannot copy the text a screenshot of the result would suffice.
It would also help if in the same command prompt window you could also run this second command.
Type this then hit enter: ipconfig /all
Again post its output to this thread and I may be able to assist you further.

Hi Tech,
Glad to hear your enjoying GW2 now like the rest of us! However I just wanted to give you a quick tip.
In the graphics panel in game if there is an option to disable both shaders and reflections, then disable them as having them on any setting low, med or high is currently buggy and affects FPS. This may help your get slightly higher average FPS and allow for a better overall experience.
Have fun, see you on the field!

Hi Kootz,
Sorry to here about your frustration with getting this game to work. I have experienced problems like the one you are having before. In other games this problem occurred because the router or router firmware could not handle the amount of information and/or number of connections that were being used. This would cause either the router to loose its sync with the internet provider or reboot itself to reload its firmware.
In the past I have found that upgrading to a more powerful router could resolve this. Also updating the firmware or using a custom firmware could resolve this. I rectified my personal problem by choosing to move to a firmware called “Tomato” installed onto a router with powerful hardware (Asus RT-N16) that supported the Tomato project. This router was advertised has being able to handle 300,000 session and a very fast processor ( 480MHz – fast compared to other routers manufactured on the same year).
Once I installed the Tomato firmware I was presented with better control over my hardware, I did not have the standard limited controls Internet Providers like to provide.
In the end this solved my problem, I no longer have a router that restarts every time I would launch my games. However without spending money it would be a nice start to investigate and troubleshoot your problem with your current setup.
It would be a good start to know what hardware and software we are dealing with, so if you would not mind could you please tell us the make and model of the router you are currently using and what version of the firmware you have installed on it.
Thanks,
Nitro

I experienced A similar problem with Audiodg.exe however instead of it being games causing the memory leak and high cpu usage, it was when I use anythign audio related. This is partly due to the lack of Windows 7 support by creative for their Creative X-Fi range of products.
I was able to sort most of the problems by disabling “Enchancements” in the windows sound properties panel for the speakers and microphone.

Game textures are loaded into memory before you enter the map, Having an SSD would not increase game performance but would decrease the waiting time at loading screens.
providing you have adequate amounts of memory, you will not see a difference once the loading screen has gone.
Upgrading to a 600 series card could create more problems in the short term as many people have experienced low performance specific to this game with the 600 series.
In my opinion I would say that the GTS450 is what is worth upgrading first as it will be the biggest noticeable change to affect GW2 performance however we still don’t know how well the game is going in terms of optimisations though.
Like I said in my previous post though, if you currently have only 1x 8GB module of ram then you would actually get better performance from 2x 4GB of ram (or 2x 8GB). By having two matching sticks of ram you can enable dual channel mode which will effectively double your memory bandwidth.
I am waiting to upgrade my pc, but I am willing and have the patience (caused by lack of funds :P ) to wait to see what happens in the next few months with GW2. my current pc has went from 10-15 fps in the beta weekends to 25 – 40fps on release to 50 – 60fps to date. So I am confident that a little patience could potentially be rewarding and perhap might save me from upgrading this year and perhaps mean i can look at better upgrades the following year.

Hi Aterin,
The latest certified non-beta drivers for nVidia users is 306.23. can you please update to this version and test again.
Also as mention above laptops now-a-days tend to offer “Hybrid” graphics solutions where the laptop offers integrated hardware to perform basics 2D and 3D tasks to save power and battery life. Then usually there is a dedicated graphics chip that provides strong more power demanding tasks with a better dedicated solution. The software that controls this “Hybrid On-Demand Switching” can be buggy sometimes and not select the appropriate processor.
You can adjust options like these in your power preferences panel by selecting the High Performance profile on windows which will make windows select the Dedicated Graphics Processor.
Also you say its not a heat issue but that is the most common problem with those symptoms. just because you have played the last month without the issue does not mean that dust has started to build up inside the laptop. Also if the laptop is not on a flat surface and is on a pillow case or bed sheet these can block ventilation panels and cause the graphics to get hotter than normal.
So if the latest drivers do not fix your issue, then you should reconsider monitoring your laptops temperatures.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
If you currently have only 1 stick memory in your pc/laptop then adding a second matched stick would allow you to go Dual Channel and increase your overall memory bandwidth, this is more likely to add to the overall performance of the pc/laptop and any games.
Note: Dual Channel requires memory modules to be a matched pair for best performance and stability, by just randomly using two different unmatched modules you could cripple your performance or make the system unstable.
Adding a SSD will make your operating system start up faster and load your game faster but it will not increase your pc processing performance or increase gaming performance.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Dreamerwolf your Quad Core cpu is fine, I have the Q9550 @ 2.8GHz and a Nvidia GTX480.
I get between 50 – 60 FPS in PvE (I have yet to play WvW)
I use High Textures and medium for most other settings except for shaders and shadows, which i turn off or put on low as they seem to be buggy.
the 400 and 500 series graphics card seem to be running well with GW2 and the Q6600 were overclockable if your into that kind of thing.
you certainly don’t need to buy a whole new computer to get better FPS in this game.
The sound problem could be just your sound settings – try moving the latency slider under sound options closer to the “more stable” side.
If you bought your PC from a computer manufacturer such as DELL, ACER, SONY, etc then if you choose to upgrade your graphics card, do so carefully as manufacturers have a tendency not to give you a power supply with much head room for upgrades.
In my opinion your pc has plenty of life left in it yet, the only thing I would look at is the 8600GT that was a step up from the 7600 series to about the same performance level as a 7800-7900 which according to the minimum system specification a 7800 series is the minimum recommended. This is what is most likely holding you back.

Hi Fyuryus.
It looks to me as if the graphics card or integrated graphics chip is producing artifacts. This can be caused by a few problems. Sometimes the problem can exist for a long time with out you noticing it or until a game comes along that pushes your computer to work harder than other games.
Problems with these symptoms are usually caused by one or more of the following:
1. Underpowered graphics card.
Check your power supply rating and graphics card requirements. Check all power connections and make sure they are clean and properly seated.
2. Overheating graphics card.
Monitor your computer temperatures using software programs such as AIDA64, CoreTemp, or MSI Afterburner. In cases where the graphics is part of a laptop then you’ll want to keep the graphics temps lower than normal since resident heat can affect surrounding components. Also In desktop scenarios, cleaning the desktop and removing as much dust as possible could help lower overall temperatures.
3. Unstable Overclock on graphics card.
If you have overclocked your graphics card and/or it came pre-overclocked from the manufacturer, you may wish to try lowering the overclock to the graphics cards original reference speeds. If this solves the problem then you will either have to run a lower overclocked speed or contact your graphics card manufacturer. Note that because Guild Wars 2 is still fairly new it is currently recommended that you do not overclock your graphics card.
4. Corrupted or out-of-date driver software for graphics card.
Make Sure that all your drivers are at the latest official certified version, try to stay clear from beta drivers as these are not certified to work with your hardware and could have bugs in the software. Check the manufaturers website directly (Nvidia.com / AMD.com) to check for the latest software available for your hardware.
Hope this helps you, if not it could be a good start to look into the overheating issue first since this is generally speaking the most common cause.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
the same load times could be caused by the server you are on when playing the game. the SSD may load the local files up fast but it still has to wait for the server to synchronise and give the ok before it removes the loading screen. so it may be the servers speed that is causing the time it takes to load rather than the local files.

Hi NawfalMoro,
Under the Nvidia Control Panel you should be able to create a new game profile and point it to the GW2.exe After that is done you can change the option in the Guild Wars 2 profile you just created to:
Power Management Mode: Prefer Maximum Performance.
this normally defaults to Adaptive in which case the GPU may underclock itself to save power when ever it can.
Please report back if this works for you or not, thanks.

Hi Dildozer,
When you say that your GTX285 is “not cutting it” what do you mean? are you regarding the FPS? if so what is your current FPS with the GTx285? what is it that makes you feel that the graphics card requires upgrading?
Also it would help if you posted the rest of your computer specifications.
the 500 series cards seem to be getting good reviews with this game, but just to mention I also have a friend that plays on a nvidia 9600GT and is currently happy with the game performance, so the issue might not be your graphics card.
If you can could you please run the game advisor tool from Anet and upload the results here, just to rule out any issues before you choose to upgrade your hardware.

Hi Tech,
Sorry to hear about your frustration, I know how you feel as there were days back in the beta event I had similar issues.
I took a quick glance at the test report and noticed your operating system is Windows XP Pro SP2, Did you know that there is a Service Pack 3 available for Windows XP? it will surely include many updates to the operating system itself and other drivers and programs etc.
I am not saying that this is the cause of your problems, I am saying this could be potentially worth trying as you may have outdated operating system files that are required to run this game. Its a free download that also includes many updated security patches so its beneficial for you to upgrade to the latest service pack.
If you would like to try this then it should be as simple as checking for available updates in the windows update section in your control panel. If that does not work then you can manually download and install it directly from Microsoft’s website.
good luck.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Jammy I also noticed from your screenshot of the “Can you run it” test that you seem to have a secondary monitor plugged in to your laptop. Did you happen to experience the low FPS issues after connecting the additional monitor?
By adding an additional monitor you increase your GPU’s resource usage and increase your overall resolution putting more strain on your graphics card whilst ingame.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
If your laptop is overheating then it could be that the cpu thermal protection is activating and throttling the processor to prevent overheating causing severe damage. This could produce the symptoms that you are describing.
Are you able to monitor your laptops CPU and GPU temperatures?
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
there could be numerous reasons for noticing a drop in your FPS, Anet are constantly changing the game to try to make it better for everyone, this could mean things go good or bad for some as they try to find the best methods. Things like your Internet speed, stability and/or usage can affect your FPS, other things such as changing your monitors resolution and/or its refresh rate could add more strain on the graphics processor. Other background processes could be running such as antivirus software, windows update, itunes, etc.
One thing I came across in the game is that Shaders, Shadows, and Reflections all have a big effect on FPS so I personally choose to have those three settings on their lowest option, some even can be disabled. I chose to disable the ones that I could.

(edited by Nitro.4732)
Hi Jammy,
The specifications tested against “can you run it” are for the Minimum Requirements for the game to run. You laptop just makes it in there with 2.1GHz when the absolute minimum is 2.0GHz. Along with the 9500M GS graphics which is both on the minimum side and a mobile graphics processor. I wouldn’t expect much FPS off the current specification, but that depends on what you classify as “low fps” and what you consider to be “good fps”. For me I consider good fps to be 60+ FPS anything less I personally consider low.
From your DXDIAG there seems to be an issue with your memory running @ 332MHz (DDR – Double Data Rate = 664MHz) the timings are 5-5-5-15 which are pretty loose for DDR2 667MHz memory unless its actually meant to be DDR2-800 or 1066MHz memory in which case the memory seems to be throttled or underclocked somehow.
Laptops also normally use power profiles that adjust the overall performance of the laptop to suit battery life and/or power consumption. This generally means things like slowing down your CPU, graphics processor or even switching the dedicated graphics card completely off to use other less power hungry methods.
Windows does allow you to adjust these power profiles in the control panel, by default there should be a profile pre-made to allow you to switch to “Perfomance” profile which makes sure your hardware is running at full speed.
Edit: please not that “Can you run it” only have the minimum requirements for GW2 on their website and therefor can only to test to make sure your pc passes the minimum requirements, if you look at the graph again it clearly states you pass the minimum but does not compare your pc against the “Recommended” requirements. Anyone running this test that meets the Minimum requirements will see a full green bar, It may seem confusing to some but the length of the green bar doesn’t determine the perfomance of the computer, there is only 2 outcomes with
the GW2 “CYRI Test” those are: Below minimum or Above minimum

I agree with you on the i7 choice for the laptop, however you may find your experience in WvW gets worse in the short term as the 600 series graphics cards from nVidia seem to still need optimising and a few kinks ironed out, but in terms of laptops – it looks like a great spec for its price, the lower resolution should help with the graphics bandwidth.

It seems to me like the i5 processors integrated graphics core (intel HD 2000) could be helping out with the frame rates. Its also difficult to assume that the value of $2200 is excessive when you cannot see the full picture, we do not know what accessories came with the purchase of the desktop, such has monitors, printers, scanners, or even a new computer desk/chair. However if the price was in US dollars and was only for the sole purchase of a base unit desktop with the listed spec, then I too would have to agree that the price of the product would have been over valued.

no, they are not, the email validation service is running but i wouldn’t call that “security”. To be honest Two Factor Authentication would solve any problems that currently exist. It could be an opt-in service that once enabled by the end user means anything you want to change would require a new one-time auth key from the user as well as their password. it would also prevent accounts being hacked in the first place even is the attacker knows both the email address and the password. Coupled with GEOIP restrictions to log in systems it would be extremely hard for a attacker from france to gain access to someone’s account in sweden.
@ GaileGray, Has Anet even considered this? why have they not implemented this technology, its proven its self over the years. so much so that even bank account are now commonly protected by such methods.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Two Factor Authentication has been around for a long time now and offers additional security to accounts and with lots of people now having smart enable devices like android / ios phones and tablets its very easy to implement. Google offer a free Two Factor Authentication service for free which has all the ground work covered and supports many platforms, having this would fix a lot of Anet’s problems. Blizzard has been using it for ages now, and I must admit their focus of account security is far superior to that of Anet’s.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
its a nice system, but personally I would choose different memory – you can get 1600MHz or 1866MHz DDR3 and this would help make a difference to your overall system performance.
theres no point putting loads of money into your new CPU if your not going to provide it with a healthy amount of bandwidth by buying the cheapest memory.
also remember its still early in the game and there is still tons of optimising to be done, you may find that your current pc is fine or needs just a new graphics card in the near future. the choice is your, I just think there are a lot of people diving in and buying new hardware when they haven’t even giving the game time to mature.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
Thanks you so much, Valkius. I also had Starcraft 2 triggered on port 6112 and it was also interfering with my connection to Arenanet, but now everything is fixed! Though now I would have to figure out how I could have both SC2 and GW2 working, without having to keep enabling/disabling the SC2 trigger, but that’s for another time, I guess.
Now, off to play Guild Wars 2!!!!!!!!!!
What is the make and model of your router? you should be able to create 1 trigger rules that works for both games.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
this could be because the trigger was assigned to a different internal IP address. usually the triggering options allow the option to select “any destination/source” in which case 1 pc playing GW2 would not affect another playing Starcraft.
If the trigger was configured properly, even though it was called Starcraft it would have worked for Guild Wars 2, which seems to point to the trigger being improperly configured.
side note: port triggering is also safer compared to port forwarding from a networking point of view.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
This could be a built in limit to the game when on 32bit operating systems or it could be a restriction from the operating system its self.

Your hardware is fine, the graphics card is the only concern in my opinion its borderline on the minimum side, but In my opinion I would hold off on any upgrade or new pc’s and wait to see how the following updates go.

Wow me and OP have nearly the same setup. Except I’m Gtx260 and Windows XP. But yes I have the same problem. But I have a question for you. Does the client give you a hardware detected issue? Because for me it says I have under a 2.0ghz processor but I have the same as you. Also what drivers are you using for your motherboard or intel.
Your processor supports a technology called Intel Speed Step, this slows the processor down to use less power and to keep the processor cooler. When an application starts to require more power the processor automatically speeds up to accommodate this. However when your game launches its probably not currently needing much cpu power as its just starting up hence why you get the error message.
There are multiple ways to disable this technology and force your pc to perform at its maximum speed no matter what.
You can usually disable this option in the BIOS which is the best solution to confirm it gets disabled properly. You can also tell windows to run in performance mode (this disables energy saving features such as intel speed step) by checking out your power management options in the control panel.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
its far too early to tell, the game is still maturing, these estimations maybe be right for now but I would like to hope that in the near future the game should run far better than it currently does.
512GB Samsung 950pro | 2TB SATA-3 | AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
This games recommend hardware has not yet been published, only its minimum hardware suggestion have been advertised. I think people are forgetting to add a number “2” to their google search for recommended hardware.
anyways the minimum requirements are:
Minimum System Requirements*
- Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 or better
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI Radeon™ X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
25 GB available HDD space
Broadband Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse
secondly since you are using a laptop could you please confirm that your power profile under power option / management features is set to High Performance Mode. This should disable the Intel Speed Step technology and also the same can be done for Nvidia graphics cards by manually creating a game profile and selecting Performance Mode rather than Adaptive Mode when GW2.exe is running.
Finally please remember this game is recently just released, people are demanding miracles when it comes to updates and performance. We need to allow both the developers time to gain reports on hardware usage and make appropriate fixes and updates to the game code, the same applies for Nvidia/ATi, they have still to release new drivers that include optimisations of their hardware based around this game. Its still early, please be patient and let the developers do their jobs.

What is “a lot of money”? No offense but there isn’t anything in your configuration that is current or high dollar.
I’d imagine you should be able to play the game on up to medium settings.
What resolution is your monitor?
Not to be offensive or anything but your living up to your name, this person(s) clearly quite proud of their pc and rightfully so. There is no need to beat down on someone just because in your opinion their pc is sub par. Also everyone has a different view on the phrase “a lot of money” since this could be a teenager spending their weekly pocket money that could have took months to save up to upgrade their computer or a person with plenty of savings and felt like splashing out, either way its rude and disrespectful to assume their pc is inadequate simply because it does not have the latest graphics card or processor.
In my own opinion I believe the computer configuration is quite adequate and should be reasonable to play most games to an acceptable level.

why not use the trading post to but your needed materials, you could sell what you farmed and use the money to buy the correct materials.

I never mentioned upgrading anything.
And has arena net confirmed that this is a known issue?
Yes you did
Yes, I know I need to upgrade my video card …
and no you do not need an upgrade, its best to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks when ATI/AMD get their hands on the game and begin optimising their drivers, also give ArenaNet some time to work through their bug reports and code fixes.

These are the system requirements ANet lists, so its not a hardware problem:
Guild Wars Recommended PC Requirements:
Windows® XP/Vista/7
Intel® Pentium® III 1 GHz or equivalent

5 GB available hard disk space
ATI® Radeon® 9000 or NVIDIA® GeForce™ 4 Ti Series graphics card with 64MB of VRAM
16-bit sound card
Broadband Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse
This is not the minimum specs for Guild Wars 2, that looks more like the specs for Guild Wars the original game)
the minimum specs for guild wars 2 are:
Minimum System Requirements*
- Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.

(also remember thats the minimum meaning what your need to run this game on ultra low settings at about 30fps.)

no you do not have to upgrade anything, you have to simply be patient and let arenanet update the game and fix the known problems, they are prioritizing hacked accounts right now so its likely they could be focusing on security over performance. Te game is only just over 1 week old, give it time to mature and other companies like Nvidia/Ati/AMD/Intel to optimise their drivers and hardware for this game.

So i’m running 1650×1050 and bought guild wars limited edition 2, what i noticed was when i turned everything on max + SSAO on, my FPS went down to 45, i was playing elementalist human, using latest catalyst drivers, anyway system specs:
16Gb 1600Mhz ram
i7 3770k @ 4.3GHz
Asus Radeon HD 7870 @ 1100/5000Should this setup max Guild wars 2? Currently i play Bf3 on ultra with no problems :S is it just bad drivers or something?
Anyone knows what specs are needed to max GW2?
Your system spec seems more than capable of running this game, remember this is a newly released game thats likely to have bugs and other issues that need ironing out. This can only be achieved over time, so my advice would be to relax and enjoy the game (45fps on max is great for now). maybe in a month or two you may find that the game starts picking up and getting better fps when things like game updates, bug fixes are released, nvidia/ati have had time to optimise their driver software and also for the initial burst of players all trying to play at the same time to settle down after players start to level and move to other servers and other overflows.

The most likely answer is that the problem could be cause by your system running “out of memory” to allocate to the game. Either this could be graphics memory (unlikely since your graphics card has 2GB available) or your system memory (more likely since you have 2GB but windows can easily use 700MB – 1GB easily leaving less than the recommended amount for this game)
