the only thing necro needs as far as buffs is maybe to GS or focus since neither are viable in really any game mode

Well GS is somewhat viable in WvW zerg fights (and open world pve but you can run anything in open world pve..) but generally i think all power necro weapons are not in a good spot. Condi necro is meta for pve, spvp and WvW roaming. Power necros are only really meta in zerg fights due wells.

yeah you “can” use GS in pve but from what im told (i dont pve) its not optimal most want a condi necro in pve content

and i have done some wvw so i know power necro is used there but even then u run dagger warhorn or axe warhorn…..i couldnt imagine trying to go in for melee with GS in wvw and being very effective

edit- i have roamed with GS but i was forcing it lol was tired of dagger which is clearly the best choice.

Nope you can actually run gs in WvW zerg fights. In a midline build you can actually take it as an alternative to the axe/wh combo. Hence why i said somewhat. That said i think necros are best in their backline postion but then they dont even take reaper. Lifeblast is actually quite good with is baseline piecing and no damage falloff.

And yeah you are right that gs is part of the better necro power builds in pve but i think that condi builds are superior in pve or in other words power necro is not meta in pve.

well its been a longtime since i was in the WVW scene so my insight to that is limited at best! ( i think the back line variant in wvw is way better then GS so its hard to compare the 2)

and thats kinda the point no one even wants to take a power necro since condi is kinda a no brainer atm

id also love to see Healing and regen from outside sorces be able to work thru DS as nothing frustrates me more then getting pressured at the start of a match and calling for help and my druid comes to drop a heal bomb only for me to be forced into DS right before and miss every bit of the healing….. any other class when using there defensive method (blocks, invulms, transforms etc) would get the healing so i see little reason why we shouldnt get any of it being in DS maybe add it as a trait of diviners boon so you have to trait for it even….. just fruit for thought

i basiclly only play necro and prestige 2 legendary or w/e you wanna call it mostly done on solo que….

your right that necro doesn’t have enough defense to defend themselves with skills or dodges to survive a focused burst ( more so at start of game if you have no DS).

however, fixing this is fairly easy all you have to do is in big team fights and you know you dont have DS just hang back if the enemy team over extends to kill you just LOS them or run around being as defensive as possible (drop a few marks behind you etc..) if they are pushing to focus you… then they arent focusing your allies, meaning they can free cast on them…… as they blindly go for you… if you do get caught by rev/ guard with a tele or somthing then pop DS and leap away and continue to run until they decide to focus something else and rinse and repeat as focus returns

This is an excellent post because it saves me the time of explaining why Necro is the worst class in the game. I play rev, if you did this, i will follow you even if it is off point. The last thing I need is for you to reset and come back then i would have to avoid your condi spams all over again. You going off point away from the team makes my life easier because i have less things to evade since no enemies and marks are unblockable .

Other classes dont try to escape with skills that arent even really escape skills and hang back hoping nobody chases.They use their defenses and take the focus or quickly counter burst someone to get them to back off, none of which necro is able to do. This is why i left necro after playing only necro for 2 years

the key is necro is in a weird spot its strong in organized groups that know how to peel for us but in solo que if your team doesnt think i need to watch our necro then they will be killed eventually….

this issue is with Teleports in the game there so spam happy nowadays that even if you manage to get away from the first one there is plently more where that came from….

what id like to see to counter this is flesh wurm buff not sure how OP or UP this would be but id like to see….flesh wurm to instead of you killing it when you tele to it instead it swaps places with you…. meaning you could use it multiple times to get away from tele harass and of course itll get cleved down instantly if you do it to get away from a aoe bomb but alteast then single target dmg would be kiteable for a period unless the wurm was killed….thought ive had for a long time there…

id also like to see healing thru DS possible from outside sources it frustrates me to no end when im getting pressured so hard and i call for help but im forced into DS to live and my druid drops all this healing that i completly miss where as any other class that goes invulm or blocks or changes form would get the heal NP it doesnt make sense to me.

Hey everyone,
This has come up before and I thought I would give some insight as to why the capture points are the way they are.

When we look at the data we have for capture points, we notice that fights on bigger capture points tend to run much longer than capture points that are smaller. It makes sense, when players are able to use skills to guarantee hits on players that are on point, instead of the missing players that are on point but running around the outskirts of the point. This means on smaller cap points players will need to weigh the risk of being on the point and know when you need to rotate out.

Question time:
How do we like smaller capture points knowing that they reinforce fights coming to an end?
Would you change the mid point to be larger?
Would you change the side points to be larger?

id much rather see “some” points become larger to avoid nerfs to aoe (meaning aoe builds will still be very effective on the smaller points but yet much weaker on the larger ones….. if you just nerf the skills then they become less effective everywhere thus killing the build

i think this is a no brainer bigger cap points atleast for mid node should be a standard thing or maybe 2 large side points and a small mid lol would be nice

i would rather see cap points change to effect how long a fight goes rather then a nerf to skills making them ineffective 100% of the time…..

example – AOE ele or well necro or DH great for small points now if all points are small you have to nerf the skills to make them “balanced” meaning no one will run them…

or make “some” points larger so say at mid they are less of a impact (basiclly nerfing them) and then on sides there still just as good!

personally id be fine with skyhammer Capricorn and coliseum all being competitive i agree spirit watch is a no go the map mech is gross and id like to see kylo fall out of ranked rotation mid is a cluster on that map

instead of arguing about if ambers should be allowed with there higher ranked friends (they should) If you have a issue with getting in ques with lower ranked people there is a obvious solution play with friends. There are numerous spvp guilds who you can easily get into team ques with even if you dont get a 5 stack…. the more people you have the less likely you will be paired with another lesser ranked player ( like that matters)…. all id like to say is fair penalty for loss if a amber decides to play in a diamond que or what have you then it should disable any saftey he has from losing pips..

in other words if a friend of mine is in amber and decides to play with me in legendary then he will lose pips all the same as i do…. of course if he has nothing to lose its a mute point but atleast then they would have something to lose…

Lol. The necro GS reminds me a lot of the high damage ele skills in pvp. When you use them, your character first makes a loud announcement that they are using a skill, wait for all involved parties to acknowledge receipt of said announcement, and then slowly execute over a minute or two.

The GS is a PvE weapon, and even there you will not use it everywhere, unless you use it why it’s really cool.
In sPvP you can spam a really Huge amount of damage over your enemy, but frequently miss why the enemy need to stay immabile to be hit by this weapon and is really telegraphed that everyone will dodge/block/blind/cc this skill, unless you’re in a team fight and no one noticed your big and slow animation. (more or less the same as RS5, just even slower).

The GS need a rework on skills and damage to be viable in sPvP, expecially why the only 2 viable skills are 4 and 5 (and the grap is frequently bugged).
a Warhorn or a torch with that 2 skills would be a better weapon that the GS (expecially why we already have the dagger that inflict barely the same dps with the AA with lesser problems on a single target, but it’s not AoE).

i am with you although i dont feel like 4 is viable lol 5 i feel is good just less bugs and im ok with saying even 2 is viable (i get around the slowness by using agilty sigil for quickness proc and imed cast gravedigger it lands a acceptable amount of the time….

id like to see GS become at least viable at the high level not even meta but just not like not trash tier lol

Can we please finally fix necro GS i think its widely believed to be the WORST hot elite specialization weapon. i want everyone’s thoughts about it!

1. The auto attack is SLOW i realize its supposed to be “thematically speaking” but i dont feel like this hits harder then War/gaurd GS which is a 1/4 second faster so how’s that balanced? (necro having a 3/4 cast vs war/guard 1/2 ) i didnt check ranger but id suspect its also 1/2. my main gripe about this is that either the damage needs a slight buff as 90% of your autos will be dodged or the cast time reduced. to bring it in line with every other class on GS

2. grave digger – i honestly feel OK with this skill although its hugely telegraphed (easy to avoid as long as your not cc’d) i have seen this skill hit north of 10k and that is nuts considering it cleaves and can be spammed on downs!

3. death spiral is so clunky it just feels bad and barely ever lands on anything that’s not downed….id love to see this skill either get a dmg buff or more life force when it lands. ( like never but least you could use it on downs)

4. nightfall although i love to throw this on top of downs to “bleed” them that is all its good for. The blind pulses so slow you’d think you could use it on downs to secure a stomp but you’d be mistaken the blind pulses are so far apart its very easy to still interrupt a stomp thru this skill… id love to see this skill get a faster pulsing blind / few more pulses total (thus making attacking inside of it very difficult for opponents and would make it do slightly more dmg overall) id offset this by removing cripple with this skill so enemy’s could move out of it freely unless they were chilled/crippled or pulled into it etc by another skill….

5 . The pull- this skill is just buggy 50% of the time it doesn’t activate so id say all that needs to be done is for that to be fixed….id also like it to target your target rather then going straight in front of you. This skill is often the make or break in a fight with a GS necro as if they pull you they will certainly land a grave digger and that can one shot you unless your running something tanky* however due to this skill sometimes not working properly its just not consistent at all and that why i think GS is widely viewed as a terrible weapon for necro.

most of my thoughts are not full fledged and may be imbalanced im really here to see if anyone else thinks it needs to be buffed and if so how would they buff it?

You can have my elementalist warhorn if you prefer. Then you’ll see the difference when you do 675% less damage.

hmmm your rules for necro bans means any use of any elite skill other then flesh golem (plague is kinda weak not sure why thats banned)would be banned since chill to the bone is not usable on account this is a Vanilla tourney….. however the next rule is that you can only have 1 minion…. does that mean necros cant use flesh wurm??? i understand the need to ban something like MM but flesh wurm is something id probably want to use since its very strong for kiting etc….. can you clarify if your rules mean you can run one minion utility or 1 minion total.

as far as i could tell most of my ques were 10 man votes for Capricorn yesterday in unranked so basically thats what it is…. if they were to just have a “beta map” que the ques would be very long after a few days….

of course thats not big deal anymore bc we dont have to sit in heart of the mists anymore!

Keeping Legends in the Game

There is no reason for legends to stay currently why grind up prestige with no difference in title or badge and its not like you could say to work towards the leader boards as it gets reset at the end of season…

The misconception in my experience is that people grind to legendary for the one time title that you keep….

The badge WAS Nice to have but the recent patch just deleted it from 1/3 of the game from being visible so id imagine that its only gonna get worse….

all my legend friends immediately jump on Smurf accounts soon as they hit legendary so they can play with all the friends who are not of equal skill bc they simply couldn’t on the main account…

in order to keep people queing as legends 2 things need to happen..

1. anet needs to come up with a system so legends can que with lesser skill players without dragging them to hour long ques and at that level and 50/50 time run into esl promenades bc thats basically the only other premades running in legendary..

2. there needs to be a huge monetary gain for queing in legendary or maybe even certain reward tracks that only unlock at legendary level….. legendary armor???(not like in one completion of the track but maybe unlocks a currency that can buy the armor meaning you would have to complete it multiple times once you get legendary which is a task beforehand)

im sure people have better solutions then me but i know me personnally once i got legendary i stopped queing bc it simply wasnt worth que times and even tho there is a slight increase in income as you tier up it simply isnt worth it when i can jump on a alt and winstreak like crazy ill make double the money in half the time!

i 2 dont see a issue here…. this game should reward playing with freinds not the other way around your suggestion would make a ALREADY awful que time even worse all but killing that part of the game!

Actually i would prefer if the pip ranks would be even bound to the professions – just because someone can play an necro on ruby/diamond/legend level doesn’t mean he van do that with a thief….

I would love this i play necro mainly over 6k games lol and im a legendary necro

but on any other class im definetly high ruby low diamond and so basically once i get to legendary on necro im locked out playing other classes least on ranked anyhow (which i want to play on account of there being better rewards and the idea of a progression system thanks to pips) man that would be the dream lol

here’s my take on it….

when the season starts everyone is in a lower division that they more or less can crush and get on a massive win streak leading to a very good MMR and while there riding this high they get paired with other players who are also all on win streaks of course this mean playing against better players however your teammates are likely very solid….. now if somehow you start to lose maybe duo or premading with friends of a lesser skill and therefore losing a few games ( all in the name of having fun with friends…isn’t that the point after all) your mmr gets lowered drastically closer to the 50/50 win rate level where your paired with people who also have this win rate (which is where the baddies come in) since you are paired with them and against them its impossible to string a win streak together to climb out of that predicament bc some games are a blowout(when you play against the baddies) and some are impossible to win( the otherside of the coin)….

personally id just like to see 2 things…

1. players can drop divisions nothing is more frustrating then getting to t7 diamond and getting paired with someone in legendary who no longer cares if they lose pips ( there would need to be decay on pips aswell to avoid people from simply not playing) i would suggest once you unlock the “title” for that season you forever keep that however you will lose the emblem.

2. players should be paired with random players in a certain pip range reguardless of MMR OR the PIP system should be chunked or only used as a reward system and make leagues based SOLELY on MMR

NO idk why people associate premades with good teams the Que times are already killer like 20 mins plus for 5 mans its insane considering this game is said to be MMO is it not the point to play with friends…

i mean there should be a incetive to playing with friends not the other way around… spvp is already bad enough with people not wanting to que together based on que times and the often times of increasing the difficulty of matches since the current system scales to the top player on your team(this system is needed dont get me wrong)

all in all what needs to happen is maybe a PIP forgiveniess if you lose to a team with 2 or more partied players… for insance if a team of 1 duo and 3 solo vs a 4 man premade and 1 solo …… if the 1 duo and 3 solo loses they dont lose pips or maybe if the game was in a certain point margin…..dont punish players who want to play together

in a perfect world 5 man premades would only play premades but even my guild which was number 1 on the leader boards 3 days ago achieved that via 3 mans bc 5 man ques were something out of a horror movie like a hour long at the legendary level… and if yall fill anything like me its not the loss that stings its that PIP loss of course this may make climbing to legendary to eazy but i think its the lesser of 2 evils
