Why do we have such weak downed skills?

So Apos, every other class has better eh. Well, people already said it, but I’ll repeat it one more time…elementalist sucks, necro fear is a bit better imo than warrior KD, rangers are also easy to stomp, guardian is better than warrior coz it’s AOE, but still nothing stellar, engineer can be nice if you’re 1v1 and the enemy is slow starting to stomp (pull, KB, pull heh) otherwise again, nothing stellar. It’s not warrior’s that is UP, it’s some others that are OP (and on the two classes that most people already complain about). Go figure.

So, CC underwater, we haz plenty eh. I don’t really care for CC in PvE shooting stupid mobs that I want to kill only for loot. I want damage. And again, ele has to use 3x as much skills as other classes to do it. I run full zerker and the damage is still meh, if I put on my magicfind gear…omg, borefest of epic proportions.

Not to mention lightning n1 is so buggy underwater andkitten with the 3 pronged attack, fire n1 detonation delay is way too long, earth n1 is…well…words fail me, hm, what was it, water 5 is perma-miss also.

So yah, might as well nerf the whirlpool to do idk 3k max damage over 10 sec, would fit right in to the low-damage theme of eles.

Mystic Clovers Ruining Legendary Weapon?

@chuiu

And that exactly is a problem. You’ve had 30% clover rate, and the OP had 10% (small samples though). If there is indeed a clover recepie that is 100% guaranteed (and without insane requirement of materials) that would be ok… as is, you can be lucky as hell, do 8 tries and get 80 clovers or you could do 80 tries and get 0 clovers (however unlikely it is).

So many arguments why ele doesn’t suck are quite bad. You have this and that skill, you have utilities and whatnot, you can dodge…oh sure, like all the tools are up 100%, and god forbid you’d have something on cooldown, or if you don’t predict the future and see the thief teleporting to you or that warrior that came behind you and bullrushed you, I totally agree that 1 single mistake must cost you your life, it’s a harsh world out there, must not get spoiled!

And elementalist, being versatile as it is, it has so many good options for traits that no build is the same, makes building an ele spec so much fun, because everything is viable (from traits to weapons sets).

And the damage being half lower than other professions is actually a good way to play, because you learn to use CC and heals and dodges even on mobs, it prepares you!

And you can also play with combofields and might stacking, so much fun to see what 20+ might does…it brings your damage to other classes level woo. Any other class with 20 might would melt you in a second, but that’s beside the point.

Elementalists, so fun untill you know what other classes are capable of. Then it just becomes a sad excuse of a class. Except for WvW, I like em there.

I farm for an hour, but don't get much

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m not sure if you played many other games out there, but every single one of them have farming limitations running of some sort…

WoW has a cap on badges you can earn through looking for group AND a cap on how many instances you can do on a set amount of time.

Rift has the same cap on badges for dungeons, just not for the badges from events, but those offer lesser quality badges.

Tera also has a cap on how many times you can run the same dungeon on a set amount of time.

I don’t understand the problem. Every game out there has a cap of some sort to limit earnings based on the time they think is apropriated for their players to reach their goals. Maybe MMO isn’t your thing? Because as far as my experience tells me, capping the speed of advancement is a pretty common thing to the mmo genre.

And everyone plays those games and everyone loves that system, right?

And as people said, Anet advertised themselves as being different, new gaming experience, play as you like and yadayada. Ok, I get it, it’s PR but too much bullkitten and it bites you in thekitten

with a global market I do not see why you would need to horde so much in a standard inventory.

Sell your excess, buy what you need. Keep doing this and you won’t have inventory issues.

Few days ago I made an alt, he’ll be armor+weapon smith. Guess what, I had wood and iron in my inventory galore, collection full, and still not enough of iron (hell I’ve even bought it on TP and that’s before I came to the darksteel part).

I know devs said it’s an game limitation of 250…but they also said, that crafting from collections/bank is immposible and look, now it’s suddenly possible so I’d take that impossible with a grain of salt.

Plus, some people like to hoard stuff. I’m like that. If I could I’d have every drop I’ve ever got stored in my bank

The problem of the elementalist:

in Elementalist

Novalight.7568

Anet tested eles in sPvP and nerfed them. And then buffed thieves. Coz ppl were crying because certain elementalist specs could disable you and burn you 100-0%. I bet those same people are now laughing on their thieves/warriors pressing n2 key and laughing and offering advice such as “you can dodge” herpkitten

Anyway, imo simplest buff would be, give us necromancer HP pool (since it’s also a clothie) or at least a mesmer one, and see how it goes. More HP with the sucky toughness and bad damage would go well.

Or give me the damage back and I’ll go with the glasscannon spec…if other classes can 1-2 shot people the elementalist needs that option as well (even if you need to make it on certain weapons spec that has for example less cc or defence to compensate the bigger damage).

Classism Against Ele's Anet say no!

in Elementalist

Posted by: Novalight.7568

Novalight.7568

If ele is provisionally ok in sPvP, because it has tools to deal with situations it’s certainly not ok in PvE, especially solo PvE. Lackluster damage even when going full glass cannon coupled with insane damage you take makes PvE quite unenjoyable (more work for less effect). If I spec for defence, I can take on more mobs, but hey, it also takes a lot longer to kill them (if I compare to other classes).

Then I see an engi I run with, properly specced, do 6k crits on n1 skill, it’s AOE, it’s got range + he still has a ton of utilities and I think to myself…yeh, great. Then I hear glasscannon warriors on TS woopwhooping about 25k+ HBs, 14k+ killshots, 11k rapidfires (and those are the lowball figures I think, I try to ignore them :P). Non-berserker specced guardians AOE critting 5k+. Thieves…oh well, rather not go there.

Anyway, while I can live with the damage I’m getting I’m certainly not happy with the HP pool or the defence. Offence vs long term defence (oh sure I can use all my attunements+utilities and I’m a god for few seconds but it’s fairly short term) is bad – but the problem that arises is sPvP vs PvE vs WvW balance, if you buff ele for PvE than you run in to sPvP balance problems . Our guild focus is WvW and I often need to roam independently of the zerg and fight 5vX and also fight in zerg v zerg and there short term defence doesn’t cut it, if I spec for lots of survivability, then pretty much every other class can do my role better, be it damage or support.

tldr; WTB necro health pool :P

CoF Polluting Economy?

Really 1g off the end chest? How exactly?

I run 140% MF and after 3 runs I get zero drops from mobs. Those 3 runs get me maybe 1 rare item (usually not), 0,05 lodestone per run (have had a whole 2 of them drop so far). So most of my money in CoF comes from completion money and selling the blue/green stuff from the chests (which is like few silvers per chest).

Tbh, I get more loot by doing the event outside CoF (and in that 1 event you kill 10 times as much mobs as in 1 CoF run so by OP’s count he should be getting 10 rares per event…).

So, WvW is plagued by invisible zergs which can be used for a nice advantage. Downside is that you’re never sure how many enemies there are. Character models usually load only when 1 side is defeated which is very annoying.

I propose that you make nameplates load first/separately from the character models. That way you’ll at least have some indication that 40 ppl are among your 30 ppl instead of just instagibbing and wtf moments (altho I enjoy them when it’s us that do it heh).

On the other hand I have no idea why your engine makes this kitten Anet. I run everything on max and even zerg vs zerg I have smooth gameplay, but dem invisible enemies…

Incredibly hard, incredibly unrewarding

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Novalight.7568

Novalight.7568

And yet… myself and my guild can do the fight completely fine without a single death (a couple downed maybe). Other players here also have mention they have no problems with the instances.

When you have players who can complete the dungeon, consistently each time, then its not the dungeon, mobs, or the game, its the player.

Well the group I was running with can do the instances also with no zerging, couple of downs and that’s it. But we still hate them. They’re badly designed, too much trash mobs with too much HP. Bosses in most cases are easier than the random mobs (like last boss in COF path 2…tank pulls it and goes AFK (yes, literally afk) while the rest of us kill the crystal).

Events before you can even enter the instance suck balls. Suck balls big time, if you’re on a lower pop server.

5 random ppl with 5 random builds usually can’t complete them or have a very hard time completing them imo which also goes against “all classes and builds are viable” nonsense the devs spoke about. If my clothie with defensive build gets randomly 1 shotted through protection yeah…good design…if there is 1 mob (usually boss) to contend with it’s no problem, but when you have a lot of mobs with 1 shot capabilities (or nearly so) then you sometimes can’t dodge everything (2 consecutive dodges vs 1 min chain of pain coming from mobs).

So after a few runs the whole thing becomes a tedious boring repetitive task to open instances, power through them to get the few tokens (and sprinkle that with RNG again what those chests give you). And the stuff that I want (lodestones) well, I have a whole 2 lodestones after idk how many runs… so add RNG again to the mix and well, the whole thing can look ridiculous. And not to mention that mobs start to drop nothing coz of the anti-bot system. OH JOY, instances, why u so fun?

Anti-farm code does exist for Fine Crafting Materials

in Crafting

Posted by: Novalight.7568

Novalight.7568

I think people are forgetting that this code isn’t in place for the average person. If you are sitting there farming you will notice the decline, simply move to a new location farm something different. This really means change of scenery nothing more.

For those that are botting, or using a program to farm, they won’t notice or will have to take extra steps to continuously get the loot they want.

This too me is a fantastic idea, I’ve farmed a ton in previous mmo’s, it’s nice to know I’m not going to just sit in one spot for hours on end.

Get over it, if you want to farm the stuff, go farm. The “code” doesn’t stop it, it just helps remove monotony.

Speak for yourself. My game time is limited (job, guild CTAs) and I want/need specific stuff and I have limited time to get it. So when I can’t get get drops worth akittenwhen I go and kill stuff it’s negatively affecting my gameplay.
And I’mkitten off as is with orichalcum ore respawn time, I can only gather it once per day since the respawn time (at least for me, ppl say they were getting it per 2-3 hours) is more than 5 hrs (and yes, I was running around likekitten through all the maps multiple times after that time and it didn’t spawn).

So all in all, I’m pretty dissatisfied with how they made the drops, it feels frustrating, and it especially feels like it’s not equal for all players (I compare my drops against ppl in my party, with comparable magic find, over multiple days). Part of it can be RNG, but on longer time it should average, but it does not.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Novalight.7568

Novalight.7568

You see the anti-farming thing doesn’t impact your ability to gather materials, it doesn’t impact your ability to do events. All it really does is impact loot drops. I don’t disagree with the idea but I wouldn’t mind being informed of the fact.

But materials are also drops, and after I kill 15 mobs I start to getting no loot (except porous bones wooo) and as such, no crafting drops, hell, sometimes I’m happy if I get drops throughout the whole event (and yes, I have runes of pirate, magic food and explorer jewlery). What I find funny is how my drops are compared to other ppl I run with…they get kittenons of yellow drops whereas I get 1 per day, maybe (yesterday in 5hrs I got 0).

So yeah, if I can prove I’m not a bot (or something) I’d like to have drops all the time. It’skittenannoying for me to farm anything worthwile (for me or for selling) since it kicks in so early, hell, I even try to run around zones and kill different kitten, while other ppl say they stay in 1 area, killing 1 type of mobs, and getting kittenons of loots. Something’s fishy here.

No, it isn’t random. Putting random weapons in and getting a random weapon out, yes, it is random because that is a single function. Creating legendary and mystic weapons though, is not random. Its a goal to work towards with multiple different items to collect. You just need to know the recipe, know the items required and train up in the crafting professions.

Getting the base weapon for legendaries=random (unless someone discovered the recepie and didn’t tell about it)….throw 4 weapons in forge and hope. Or you can get it from some chests=random.

Getting mystic clovers=random (and if you really need 250 of them and I’m usually very unlucky with RNG in games…)

So there are at least 2 parts of legendary that are random (by what is publicly known so far).

I’d rather not write what I think about RNG items (clovers), that cost kittenloads even when you calculate with 100% success rate or I’ll get banned :P

Bleed only gets 5% of Condition damage?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Novalight.7568

Novalight.7568

it is not 800-1000 damage per second, it’s more like 180 pve, or 226, max, for s-pvp, that’s every 2 seconds, not 1000, are you nuts? Where the hell did you pull that number from?

Do you not see the ticking damage numbers every second? How did you manage to get 1000 damage per second out of 85-100 damage ticks on the screen lmao ? ??

it’s only 5% damage, it does not stack. The only thing that happens when bleeds stack are the fact that the ticks of damage happen more frequently. THEY DO NOT STACK % based damage, they just tick more frequently.

More bleeds, more poison = faster ticks. That is all.

Aha, and that is why we can’t have nice things aka cool story bro.

Poison, chill, burn, slow…if u add to them, it increases duration.

Bleed, vulnerability, confusion they add stacks which you’d see if you actually played the game and looked at the icons and that they have a number by it, or maybe even read the skill descriptions (novel concept, I know). And increasing numbers by the icon=more stacks.

Anyway, if 1 stack does 100dmg/sec, then 10 stacks=1000 dps, 25 stacks=2500dps (that is, if you can maintain the stacks indefinetly).

So by your original statement: If I increase a tick by 60 damage and can on average maintain 10 bleeds I just increased my dps by 600 (zomg, it multiplies)- ok not rly, since you sacrifice power but /care to number crunch. And if you forgo power/crit you can more easily focus on vit/toug/condi which makes you more durable. So all in all, it’s a nice tradeoff.

As for usefulness of DOTs…depends who you’re fighting.

Skill n1 in fire: detonation delay is way too long, area of detonation might as well not be there, it’s so low it’s useless in PvE unless you bring a tank and even then it’s meh.

Skill n1 in earth: useless unless you magically line up the mobs so you can hit multiple of them.

They’re fine, at 80 I can take on 3 level 80+ Orr mobs at once and survive. Make sure your traits make sense for the attunements you favour and I’ve found that arcane skills are very good at giving you the edge.

Are you traited for earth and water for your toughness route? Earth seems very good for big mobs like veterans, especially if they are melee only you can kite, cripple, bleed and kite all day and take zero damage. Less effective on groups of weaker mobs though, but that’s your trade off.

Oh, a whole 3 mobs, that’s OP. /sarcasm off

On my 80 warrior I could take 5 of them without breaking a sweat in yellow/green underlevel gear (and I could hit only 3 targets at a time) and on my exotic geared ele…well, in survivability spec, I can survive lots of mobs if they’re melee…but some (imps, flying knights, fire elementals) can still hit for insane damage and taking more than 2-3 of them can be a big pain in thekitten specially coz you must kite a bit more and there’s 5 mobs in every direction just waiting for you to aggro them. And even in full DPS spec you kill slower than some other classes…hell, even the guardian I run with hits for 5k+ and he can just run in mobs and AOE them down, not even dodging.

And not to mention that with d/d setup. Fire n1 skill, even in yo’ face, often 2 fire projectiles miss, n5 skill misses standing still, mob in front of me. Lightning n1 skill…again, miss-o-rama. (I primarily run staff now, cba to change traits all the time for WvW).

One thing ele is awsome for is ninjaing those commune skill points though. Block+mistform=priceless, helped me so much while doing the 100% world thingy

Don’t get me wrong, everything is doable on ele, you have a lot of tools at your disposal, but slacking will get you killed, standing still will get you killed, rezzing downed friend in middle of mobs will get you killed, not using your attunements will get u killed…you get my drift, it’s not a slacking class. And if u spec full tanky build…then it’s borefest…i cycle tru all attunements and mobs still very alive, then I see a geared thief do two hartseekers…meh…WTT tools for damage in PvE.

For sPvP, it’s a different story, there, the tools ele has get to shine more. Imo ofc.

tldr: For solo PvE, ele is worse than a number of other classes imo. In group PvE, usefulness goes up, better use of AOEs, better use of tools in hard encounters. Good class in WvW.

6 months from now, everyone will be a Commander

Well first off, I doubt many people even want to comandeer the army. And if they’ll be running the icon and won’t do anything to help in WvW….well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it . Right now, our server has 1 icon, which we had from the start of 1st week…so other guilds don’t even want to bother spending 100g atm so I kinda doubt we’ll be seeing a flood of them anytime soon. Altho we could use at least 7 more (2 per map).

Dunno, I’ve earned about 600+ badges and I don’t even WvW that much, hell, I spent more time farming for materials that I need :/ . A guildie of mine has much more of them. So drop rate is fine imo.

Save them in the bank, unless you have stupid amounts of materials, cash, time, karma, dungeon and pvp tokens in which case, you can proceed and try to figure out how to make a legendary weapon.

Is Elementalist inferior at lvl 80?

As is in WvW ele is hard to play imo, as it is. Just to get a reference point: I’m exotic geared on ele, I have also played a warrior to 80, semi exotic geared.

First, you have to decide, glass cannon or survivability spec. But mind you, when you meet a zerg, even your survivability spec is…not very survivable against a good geared zerg full of glass cannons, I can still get hit for 6-9k with protection up… and my damage, bar meteor shower, is pretty weak, compared to numbers that other classes can pull.

Hm, what if I want to run with a zerg and just nuke ppl down…go go glass cannon, full berserker set. Oh, the enemies aren’t loading when 2 zergs meet. So fun, coz you can’t really find a safe spot, because you don’t know where enemy is, autoattacks hit you for 3k+ and combine this with your low HP means you’re dead meat unless you have a strong front line, and even standing on castle walls and getting caught in 3 AOEs means a fast down.

Ele has pretty much 1 viable weapon for WvW, staff. Daggers will get you killed, scepter is so so, dunno, didn’t try to make idk an aura spec, 900 range is too low, not enough AOE.

So basically, playing against PUGs can be quite awsome on ele, they don’t focus fire, they break up fast even with much larger numbers if you surprise them. Playing against a geared organized guild…it’s a pain, you either deal weak damage or die too fast.

I’d say it’s not that elementalist is a bad class, I’d say burst is too big, 20k+ HBs, 11k HSs, 6k mindwracks etc, or that armor/damage ratio is kinda bad on some classes.

Yeah, you’re probably missing Chantry of secrets, ironically, it’s on the map that you’re at on the screenshot you attached. I spent hours and idk how many gold teleporting around only to find out that I’m missing a POI that isn’t visible on overmap.

Using Orichalcum Mining Pick still get Ruined Ore Chunk

For me it only happened when a mob was attacking me while gathering. For example, yesterday I got 3 ruined ore chumks and a ruby orb -_- .
I hate the Orichalcum ore…only need like 1000 of them and some can farm nodes on a 2-3hr CD and mine doesn’t respawn after 5 hours… so basically I can gather Ori once per day (work and stuff) after running around like akitten to find it, coz it changes spawns.

So, Arenanet, how come some people have faster node respawn times? Hm?
