TP-flipping, the bane of Guild Wars 2?

The theory that demand drives the price and economy is fine can be applied to any mmorpg ever existed.

Doesn t prove economy is healthy anyway, nor that flipping is a good thing.

Flipping is a good thing because it removes gold from the game; otherwise you’d see bad pricing on items. Whether the economy is good or bad usually depends on the gold-profit ratio, meaning the amount of gold spent to get a certain profit. As far as my experience goes I usually spend around 5g to get back 1; though this varies per item and I think it’s what makes people say whether the economy is good or bad.

Add Karma tax to buy orders?

Excuse me if I rained on your parade, but you obviously can’t see that TP flippers are GOOD for the economy. Adding a karma tax would ruin most of the incoming TP players and would ruin the market as well;

Please explain to me, the OP, how my proposal would influence the amount of flipping going on, if the overall average amount of daily white karma earned covers the average value of buy orders filled?

if you list more than 2500 buy orders (or about 1 page of buy orders) a day, do you
really think Anet is going to make it that easy for you? That you can waltz on into a market and say you can spend 100 karma for those buy orders? I guarantee if you implement this method, the amount of karma spent per buy order wouldn’t only depend on the amount of items or how costly the item is rather it would depend on its rarity too! Also it would significantly decrease the number of NEW TP players wanting to play the market, thus as I said, the prices you see now, will no longer be stable! You may have 8 million karma, but the incoming TP flipper may have 500,000 and hes depending on that 500,000 to help him/her advance with their legendaries. Then by implementing this karma tax, you’re asking those players to pay the karma they’re wasting on the obi shards already, to give up on TP flipping and grind more. In addition to the new incoming TP flippers, they may not have the same characteristics; different players may have more than one goal to TP flipping; but by letting the players who already have a crazy amount of karma get way above those that don’t, you’re trying to take advantage of a market someone’s trying to get into. That’s unfair, and unruly. My advice is you save that karma, or spend it on obssidian shards to forge toss to get t6 mats, and I can tell you PVX a lot already, so getting the globs shouldn’t be so hard. OR perhaps in the future they’ll find a way to make karma a viable currency; save it until then, there’s a lot more maps besides Magumma coming out.

Okay, people need their legendaries, were already being restricted by the amount of gold we have; this is a horrible idea, I’m pretty sure that it would just make most incoming tp flippers ragequit the game.

So what? I don’t remember last time a TP flipper helped me complete an event, skill challenge or ported me to end of a jumping puzzle. People, who would be affected by Wanze’s suggestion do literally NOTHNIG in the game and therefore there is no reason to try to keep them around.
People, who combine TP and normal gameplay will definitely be experiencing significantly more profit. Why not? They sure deserve it. Anet’s philosophy has always been “the wider amount of content you do, the faster you will achieve success” as it was proven to us by PvP reward boosts that have already come and that are probably arriving in the future.
You just have to understand that if you play the game normally and use the TP ocasionally, this change won’t affect you at all (you might be even better off) and if you do TP solely, there is no need for you being in the game at all. Go find yourself a market simulator and don’t poison our RPG.

Excuse me, I have three characters who completed the story; grinded for armor styles, and one that did map completion, another that has half of Tyria completed including the Magumma map, I’ve grinded every dungeon, and grinded champs, and grinded world events, and bosses, and dragons, and I still WvW sporadically. Excuse me if I rained on your parade, but you obviously can’t see that TP flippers are GOOD for the economy. Adding a karma tax would ruin most of the incoming TP players and would ruin the market as well; iron ore would be like 10c and blue armor would be at their base sale price, and rare armor would sell for like 5 silver, you toss those into the mystic forge, get your precursor and sell it for 10g while the next person gets it and you wont feel that getting a legendary is even legendary; if you want that, then go ahead and believe your claim is valid.

Uhh well, as far as I can see, if you’re doing TP flipping, be prepared to not take account for what your daily income will be, but instead what your weekly income will be. I took some good advice from some people and its that you should vary your items more, and that the more variety of items you buy, the better the rewards; some people can claim that they earn at least 30g a day, but the question is if you have enough money to buy that variety of items; and how often you’re going to flip and such. Now if you’re considering salvaging armor for scraps as flipping, it really isn’t. Salvaging armor can be visually deceptive to how much money you can make compared to TP flipping, grinding dungeons (with a speed group), and wvw zerging; as playing the TP believe it or not, is another form of playing the game. If you play the game correctly, even by doing event farming for like 15 min, flip for 15 min, dungeon for 30 min, and wvw you should be able to aquire a good amount of gold.

As for flipping silk, flipping silk is a big mistake; profitable? Most likely, but based on my experience, flipping silk is extremely hard because the price fluctuations are extremely risky, ill try to explain why as briefly as possible: the supply and demand curve is so bad, http://www.gw2tp.com/item/19748-silk-scrap and the reason why you cant flip this is because of the amount of risk you’re taking depends on that demand line; as you can probably already guess, there’s about fifty thousand players trying to bid on those stacks of silk; so you’re competing with those fifty thousand players demanding so much on such limited supply; it’s not good, but go ahead and take your gamble if you wish. Whereas the people getting 30g+ a day are competing against 5-25 people, and this is why they’re rich. To each his own.

The reason dusk is so high is because people stopped trying to forge greatswords to get it (which stopped a huge gold making method) and less people are pve/wvw for a lot of stuff; that being said, prices going up is not natural, it takes a lot of different elements including drop rate and player base. Also, they’re like an impossible drop…so…….yeah…. what I would do if I were you at this point, buy the precursor if you can, or wait until the rest of them sell and post a high buy order. Good luck!

What I think what should happen is that players who do PVE/WvW stuff should keep doing what they’re doing, it brings goods and increases the availability of supply; as for those lazy people who prefer to have their money straight forward, its good to have them too for reasons of which I won’t discuss. As for those PVErs and WvWers who don’t know anything about TP flipping, to remain as they are until they learn about it; this is simply for the mere fact that we need them, and they need us.

You have to really analyze the graphs set out; aside from a graph telling you what price is placed on the selling item, you also have to take account for how much supply and demand there is…just a hint, you don’t need to take my advice.

Okay so… over the last few weeks I’ve just started is to tp flipping for my legendary; I’ve done everything from dungeon farming; I know every gold making tactic there is from mystic forging to farming to EoTM and WvW to salvaging so please don’t suggest any of those; this is specifically for the TP. I keep reading in map chat that people are making like 60-300 g just by flipping but I only get like 5-6g from it. What I do is I order like 5-10 stacks of an item I see has a higher supply ratio than demand, I wait overnight and get what I receive and flip it back accounting for the 15% tax and stuff. Now heres what I don’t understand: what am I doing wrong? I even have a spreadsheet for projecting profits but each day I can only net like maximum 6g.

yeah i think he pointed you to this thread by accident, but i was gonna respond to the other post so may as well do it here.

Basically, you have to do it better.

Pick better items to flip since you apparently only want to flip once a day, look for biggest differential between buy orders and sell orders on a daily basis

Dont flood the markets you choose, which means diversify

look for other ineffeciencies in value other than just buy low sell high, these will usually end up pointing you to the higher velocity flips.

Think about flipping more than once a day.
Flipping a high velocity item multiple times per day will pay better than flipping once a day, even with lower margins
essentially you will make more money in a day
with ten 3% profit flips,
than you would with one 34% profit flip.

and make sure you are flipping appropriate to your investment.
While copper may be giving you a 20% profit, the amount presses and items you have to do to achieve that is huge, and more likely to imbalance the flipping market.

Thanks, I’l try and heed your advice.

Without TP flipping, a lot of people would leave the game, even more I should add, since most of us TP flippers beat the game to the max which includes getting a legendary. Without TP flipping it would be like 3 times harder to get a legendary too. May I also add that people get TIRED of grinding dungeons all day, and EoTM no matter how rewarding it is, also gets tiring at one point. So if you want to remove TP flipping, you’re asking for more than half the players to leave.

The most gold I’ve made a day through dungeoneering is just 30g to be honest, this includes loot and spending tokens. I can see how an arah path can take about 30-35 min solo on a warrior but it’s Arah and I don’t want to have to go through the process of undergoing Arah just to sell it. In my view, he is in fact a PVE hardlord, for dungeoneering that much in my opinion; but we only live one lifetime, and I’d rather TP flip than to have to go 16 hours a day just to conjure enough gold; there’s no fun in that. By TP flipping I’m making more profits every 2 days, sometimes a market might go down, but dungeoneering, I’ve been there, gotten 300g max from flat out doing dungeons all day in 3 weeks, and it made me feel like punching a mirror.

Mystic coin rising again?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Nusku.3941

Nusku.3941

The reason why prices for mystic coins are rising is because nobody is supplying them; if you haven’t looked into a bit of economics, if you have less supply, the item will go up in price, and the demand may or may not get higher, when the supply is far less than demand, the market is broken until supply gets fixed. Reasons why coins aren’t being supplied is because people stopped doing their dailies or are keeping them instead of selling them. People have adapted that if you PVE in this game, you suck, and as such, doing the daily is not even half as important. This is what happens when new content stops coming out; people just stop caring and leave the game or do something else.

So let’s get this straight – you think 12,000 damage over 3.5 seconds is higher DPS than 7,000 damage over 0.75 seconds.

I’m not talking about DPS. You wanna talk dps now? Okay, the DPS on guardian is way less either way you don’t see it because you’re not accounting the cooldowns, the number of moves meant for damage, and how the damage gets delivered. Those three are completely different on both classes, which is why warrior deals more damage, maybe you should look into that. I’m going to cease replying on this thread since everyone wants everyone to shut up.

If you wanted to do damage as a heavy, you should have gone warrior, not guardian, fix yourself please, and thank you.

Why warrior? They do as much damage as guardian in a group. The only difference between the two is Warrior bring offensive support, while Guardian bring defensive support. Ok granted. Without a Warrior in the party for Banner or EA, the Guardian will never have more DPS than a warrior. But if they are both in the party, then ya a Guardian can have more DPS than a warrior.

I play both classes, normally I don’t like going on the game forums because people love to deny hard facts, but as a warrior, I’m able to deal 12k damage while wielding soldier armor and blasting a hundred blades. However, as a guardian with soldier armor, I can only deal a good 7k just blasting whirling wrath, and that’s considering if all the projectiles hit the target at close range. When you put berserker’s armor on both classes, assuming you put all your traits into the zerker traits, you should be able to note that guardian does in fact deal less damage than a warrior, even with virtues placed.

Look, I’m not here to argue with any of you on which class does more damage, no matter how obvious it is. I’m here to support and stand up for a player who is having trouble with other players telling him what to do or what to run. If you want to run a berserker guardian, go ahead because I’m sure I won’t care. I’ll just keep in mind that unlike me you’ll be the one who dies a lot more often, and you’ll be the one who wont fully fulfill your role but only partially and make it look like you did.

It’s bad enough you have to go through the trouble of the gift of fortune in which t6 mats are ridiculously hard to farm, and getting the orichalcum from salvaging takes a while. But when I look at charged lodestones, its a pain in the neck to know you have to farm 200g worth of charged cores and on top of that pay another 50 to craft them. I think that the best approach to this is to not farm for the lodestones, occasionally get an salvageable atherized scrap and salvage that, and flip until you get enough money for the rest. I’ve been farming COE for 2 weeks now and all I got is 16 lodestones. I don’t want to farm COE anymore, or just farm those dumb air elementals that don’t exist except in Malchors Leap. I’m okay with everything about the gift of fortune, but this; this is just excruciatingly dumb to farm for. I already got Dusk, I got the Mastery Gift, just need those other 2.

“Guardians are devoted fighters who protect their allies and smite their enemies by drawing from the power of their virtues. True guardians are brilliant tacticians and selfless defenders who know when to sacrifice their own defenses to empower their allies to achieve victory.” As quoted by Arenanet’s main website.

“Guardians are the masters of protection. Their special ability is the use of three virtues; Virtue of Courage, Justice and Resolve, which enhance their attacks and defenses until they are used to aid allies. The guardian’s play-style has a defensive feel and is adept at supporting their allies. Their unique attribute increases their Virtue Recharge Rate.”As Quoted by their wiki.

2- You’re not being a guardian, which means supplying boons, offering protection, and healing.
3- You’re not a zerker while being in a zerker only party.
4- People, just not liking you.

Unlike if you were a ranger, you’d most likely get kicked for two things:
1-Being a ranger.
2-Being a bearbow.

Personally, I think you should play the way you want to play and not the way anybody else does, people nagging at you for wall of reflection is common; just don’t pay attention to them and do what you will to get yourself and them through the dungeon.

I’ve never heard of guardians getting kicked like this and coming from another it kittenes me off a little, which is why my guild wrecks server map zergs in wvw. So yeah screw them mate, just go about your way.

Hi, I’m here sitting on my PC every day and I see people in my guild, way over half of them have legendaries, I have 40 gold in my pocket, so I figure hey, why not use 20 and flip it, I wait several months, and my stuff still hasn’t sold, and then I wonder, what the hell, I have 300 now, so why not create 250 rare greatswords and toss them into the mystic forge, maybe I’ll get something, but still to no avail, I have just wasted 300 hard earned gold for nothing. I WvW a lot, I run fractals a lot, I flip alot and nothing ever sells, I craft a lot and nothing ever sells, I run dungeons, I don’t spend gold on stuff where I cant get any back, and what does it boil down to? I don’t care anymore, I just don’t want my legendary, I don’t want my ascended armor, I hate this ordeal where the rich get richer and the poor have to watch as they get richer; so why not just take the rest of my money and gamble it, it’s not like I care anymore anyway. At this very moment I’m sitting on my asuran guardian with cultural t3 armor and his cute little entropy, in a guild called Os in the Northern Shiverpeaks server, staring at the mystic forge, while that last 24 gold worth of hammers sit in my bag…motionless. I throw them into the mystic forge…I get a carrion tribal warhammer of accuracy, a nice little hammer worth a few bit of gold, nothing fancy, I get a berserker’s pearl crusher, nice little hammer, with a bunch of stones, though nothing fancy. But still no Collossus, so I say screw it all; I take everything I’m flipping, everything in my bank, and sell it all to the highest buyer. I get 36 gold back, and I gamble it the same way as before, and this time I ended up with one measly little gun, and 2 gold left to use at my disposal. I didnt want any money left. So why not gamble the rest, so i buy 4 silly looking shells, toss them in the mystic forge, and bam! I have just 29s left in my bag, I look at the rare cleric’s shield of energy in my bag, and then a tear rolls out of my cheek. After that, I decided, screw it I might as well throw my asuran cult t3 armor in there too; so I remove all my belongings, dump them in the forge, and get nothing. I then hug a corner in my room, and cry.

Even with all the change they made to “farm’able spot” in the first 3-6 months of a game, inflation is normal, but if you look at GW2 in the last year, price haven’t changed that much.

Are you crazy? Nobody wants to forge for a precursor, and that significantly impacted a huge money making method, now the only thing left to do is flip, and that takes god awfully long.

Slingblade posted a vid on sword axe, which i really like, but it doesn’t look as cool if you’re commanding. Maybe axe-axe is more appealing in style.

Put all your traits into marksman and wilderness survival, not gonna tell you which ones(I’ll leave you to figure that out), and switch your runes of altruism to something more damage-based (non condi dmg). Make sure that you strategically use your longbow, don’t waste your burst when you know someone is expecting you to. Overall, the idea is that you want to be selfish with a longbow; not supportive.

Can rangers do decent ranged damage?

No, it doesn’t get better. Also, if you’re not going full zerk with the LB, don’t even bother, it’s laughable damage otherwise. It’s still laughable damage with zerk, but at least you might get that one guy on the edge of a zerg who is afk or forgot how to use his A and D keys.

Zerker on ranger, really considering that?sigh typical noob.

I think that axe warhorn is not a good combo because it only deals for up to 3 targets, Greatsword is better for frontline.

You’re doing something wrong if you think you need to stack might while in zergs as a zerker ranger. Let alone, you’re using zerker armor in WvW. That’s a mistake. For Longbow you need to take out your opponent with strategy, not burst.

You want to know what the biggest bug is? That everyday I see a post on your forums that rangers are the weakest class, and above all my guild and everyone on my server thinks the exact same thing. It kittenes me off that every warrior I see has the ability to say “I can defeat every ranger possible”, it makes me angry to see that every ranger in my guild has switched to warrior, and it definitely isn’t a ranger’s fault. EVERY RANGER IN MY GUILD IS SWITCHING AND PEOPLE KEEP GETTING KICKED FROM A DUNGEON PARTY FOR BEING A RANGER! AND QUITE FRANKLY IT’S kittenING ME OFF! THAT’S THE BIGGEST BUG IN THE GAME.

I wouldn’t do that, if you get crafting, you can make ascended mats using your spares and sell them, no need for more ascended weapons that you most likely wont use.

The game relies too much in the TP...

No matter what a developer says, the Black Lion Trading post will forever and always be broken. And I don’t say this because of how it works or how you make money out of it, I say it because of the amount of time it takes to get gold. Literally 100% broken.
