So we face a force easily 3x the size of our 20 person zerg on TCBL, they drive us back to garrison from bay, and then they simultaneously /laugh at us. My chat log is having convulsions right about now.

Keep it classy, SoR. Keep it classy.

That was just to get your guys to charge out it wasn’t anything personal.

Into 3x our number? Not likely. xD

From our perspective, you had greater numbers than us, our commander found it hilarious that you were running when you had such a big Zerg, the laughing wasn’t meant as anything malicious, we just found the situation of a 60 man Zerg running away from us humerous.

TC’s commander did /supplyinfo before the Bay attack, and we had 23 people. Where you get 60, I have no idea.

So yeah, if you guys had 45 (I thought it was closer to about 35-40, but if you guys say 45, I’ll believe you), you definitely outnumbered us.

We had about 25-30 initially, perhaps 40 when we had you backed into Garrison, there was no way that you only had 23 at that point, maybe 15 minutes earlier when you started the bay attack.

You’re right that we didn’t have 23 when you backed us up to our garrison; several of our people had died, so we were probably down to about 15-20.

Your side absolutely had more than 25-30, though. At least 35, and one person from your own server said you had 45.

DB think they have enough people escorting their yaks on DBBL? Must have been like 10-15 on each one. We wondered if your map had a full queue entirely on yak escort duty.

This. Even though I’m on TC, FA’s long overdue for a T2 victory, and I hope they get the transfers to pull it off. <3

They picked the winning server in their tier. That is a bandwagon, and honestly crappy for the game.

That being said, I’m sure they just want to have fun, and I can’t begrudge them what they find fun.

No great loss for us either way.

edit: err i take that back, maybe some loss of gold that we helped them transfer with.

If they were just bandwagoning, then they would have moved to KN since, at that time, KN was still green and holding first place. TC took first place the week ZN moved, but after they moved.

That was amazing!

Next up: PiNK zergs FA garrison with dolyaks?

I can’t remember if it was FA or KN’s garrison, but on one reset night, after we took the garrison, Deyja (one of PiNK’s commanders) had us line up by race in the field NE of garrison, /dance *, then use tonics (many turned into dolyaks) and charge at the enemy zerg grouped up outside the NE tower. Not quite the same thing as what you mentioned, though.

Previous week’s reset night, he had us line up for /dance *, but told us our racial segregation skills needed work and dragged us back inside garrison to practice. <3

Gives many of us a headache, causes tons of extra lag in already large laggy fights, makes it hard to see what’s going on, makes it annoying trying to pick up bags, and makes people using them completely useless since they aren’t fighting.

And it contributes absolutely nothing. No positives, tons of negatives. Please remove fireworks from wvw.

Lady guardian and Lady thief who fought me (a ranger) in the water at Bluewater Lowlands in TCBL just a couple minutes ago, sorry I didn’t see the kneels. I was focusing so much on the fight itself that I didn’t see until afterwards that you’d kneeled four times.;

Have to admit, though, it felt good for someone to kneel to me.

Did they also have this bullkitten in GW1? Wouldn’t surprise me if not because i never heard bad things about it while everyone on the internet is already kittenting on GW2.

Nope, stealth didn’t exist in GW1. One of the reasons pvp was more balanced in it than in this game.

Not sure what you mean by “in the middle of a skill”.

I explained that in the same post. If you used a second skill while another one was still being used, the first got interrupted. I canceled my own spirits by trying to use another spirit. Rapid Fire and Barrage could cancel each other, too. Ranger 1hs skills could cancel each other. Ele d/d skills could cancel each other. Right after they implemented skill queuing, none (or at least, very few) of the skills could interrupt each other (including channeling skills; PBS couldn’t cancel RF or Barrage.)

Though, now I see that they’ve gone back to allowing RF and Barrage to cancel each other. Hadn’t used a long bow in a while, so hadn’t noticed when they changed that back. Makes me happy to see they did it, though.

Skills have queued since beta.

No, or at least, not to the extent that they do now. Previously, if you were in the middle of one skill, and attempted to use another skill, the first would be immediately interrupted for the second one. Early on, on my ranger, I sometimes accidentally cancelled my Rapid Fire into Barrage and vice versa, or canceled one spirit when I tried to use another one. Then I realized I could use it to cut aftercast/afterattack delays short, and immediately go into the next attack, so I did.

When they changed it so that you couldn’t do that anymore, the dodge rolls bugged, as did ranger 1hs skills 2 and 3 not overriding 1.

The amazing responsiveness of the controls on my ranger and d/d ele early on was one of the things that pulled me into the game (as annoying as it was to accidentally cancel my own skills before I got used to it. XD) I was sad when they changed that. T_T

Still happens to my ranger’s 1hs and 2hs, just not as often as it used to.

It’s not “getting stuck on the terrain,” either. It happens in open fields.

For those who knew that the bug didn’t always exist, but aren’t exactly sure when it started happening, it came with the skill queue update. Back when skills didn’t queue, the dodges worked fine.

Worse. The “getting attacked by invisible armies” happens every bit as often as before. Today, I swam halfway through a spread out enemy zerg, and typed up a message about their location and how many golems they had before they even noticed I was there (they were slowly loading for me—the base models would load when they were just barely in front of my face—but apparently, I wasn’t loading for them.) I wasn’t using any stealth abilities.

I also now get short lag spikes each time it loads the base model and again when it loads the normal one, making dodging a pain since my timing keeps getting randomly thrown off. And the sound sometimes cuts out for a while during big fights. Previously, I only got the lag spikes when there was a large zerg nearby, and the sound only cut out briefly after loading the map (if at all), and would be fine afterwards, regardless of how many people were there, making it much, much easier to tell if I was getting hit by invisible people.

Oddly, WvW worked best for me back during the first two BWEs (didn’t play in the third one), when I don’t think they even had culling (at the very least, I recall no one loading just a couple steps in front of me. Everyone loaded much further away.) No lag, was able to set everything to the highest settings and ran it perfectly fine, regardless of how many people were on screen. Now, nearly all my settings except draw distance are turned down in hopes that it’ll help (and it doesn’t . . . ) :/

The Cantha Thread [Merged]

Cantha was my favorite GW1 region to work on. And I worked on every GW release. I know a lot of the dev team loved it and would love to revisit it. I kinda agree with critickitten about the negative aspect of tight corridors. Most of that came from hitting technological limits while trying to keep the epic quality of the concept art. I think we could do some really amazing things with those themes in our new engine. Certainly nothing is ruled out. I certainly encourage anyone to express your desire for a Cantha region in GW2 in a positive and friendly way. It could be years away, but it’s worth asking for.

Factions was my favorite campaign in GW1. I loved the aesthetic of it, especially of Shing Jea and the Jade Sea. The small shrine in the mountains near the monastery was awesome, as was the dragon coiled around the rock just off the coast of Panjiang, near the Crimson Skull camp. I loved the concept of the ritualist. I loved the “smoke” from the fires that were actually symbols. I loved the clothes (many of my characters’ final armors ended up being Canthan.) I loved the music and often idled in either my guild hall or in the Jade Sea (or, as is the case right now, in Minister Cho’s Estate) just to listen to it. When I’d take a break from the game, overhearing the music from someone else playing in Cantha was frequently what would bring me back.

I was happy that the dragon blocking access to Cantha—Zhaitan—was the first one we killed. I didn’t expect us to go to Cantha immediately afterwards, especially since we still have some dragons on Tyria left to get rid of, and there’s that whole isolationist thing going on with Cantha. But I’d hoped it meant that we’d see it sometime in the near-ish future.

Cantha was my favorite area by far, and seeing it again was one of the things I looked forward to the most. Saying I was ecstatic to see the Fractal bonus round is an understatement.

Please work something out with NCsoft so we can see Cantha come back, with the Asian themes still intact. T_T

Here’s to hoping that when/if the Canthan district of DR is rebuilt, that it’ll have the appearance it was originally intended to have (or close enough.)

On a related note: Do bows get a range advantage when shooting from elevation? It looks to me that I don’t fire any farther standing up on a keep wall than I do standing on the ground.

Slightly, but the projectiles disappear not too far from the listed range. So your arrows could just be vanishing before they reach the target.

Actually this will not work as Rescue is only for downed players. Stomped players are referred to as defeated and none of the rez type abilities work. Not sure how you have done this or are you just playing thoerycraft and have never actually done it.

S&R works on fully defeated players, not just downed.

My guild’s thinking about doing p1 and p4 Arah today. We haven’t done them, but we’ve heard they’re long, so I wanted to know beforehand if there were any game-breaking bugs still in these two paths so we know whether to do them or just do a different dungeon.

Also, has the door in p2 before Lupi been fixed yet? Last time I did p2 (which was I think more than a month ago), it wouldn’t open.

:) Thanks in advance!

Yeah it is working as intended. They mechanic of that fight is that he spawns Jellyfish who have 1 spinning attack and then die. I was surprised first too but you’ll see it after a few fights.

Not the fight TC’s talking about.

Wondered that, too. We just ran into that issue today. Only seen him do that once before, and never any other time. Either he’s nearly always bugged to not spawn vets and not put up that reflecting shield, or he was bugged in those few runs where he did. Tried resetting the dungeon, but same thing happened.

Will the WHOLE event end the 1th November?

GW1 had a number of special, multi-week long events:

1. Halloween
2. Wintersday (Christmas/New Year, also occurs in July as “Wintersday in July”)
3. Canthan New Year (Chinese Lunar New Year)
4. Dragon Festival (no real world counterpart, occurs around June)
5. Birthday Celebration (occurs in May for GW1. For GW2, it would be around end of August)

In addition, they also had smaller festivals that typically only last a day or two:

1. April Fool’s Day
2. Talk like a Pirate Day
3. Sweet Treats Weekend (coincides with Easter)
4. Special Treats Weekend (coincides with Thanksgiving)
5. Lucky Weekend (coincides with St. Patrick’s Day)

Actually, Dragon Festival corresponds to USA’s Independence Day in July. Also, Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year aren’t multi-week events; they’re about as long as the ones in your second list. Cantha always got shafted. XD
