We all learned from this thread , that the worst part of GW2 community is the WvW community.

Legendaries are not a PvE only item. Or at least they were somewhat designed to include all aspects of the game. Gift of battle comes from WvW and map completion used to include. Sure a majority of a legendary comes from PvE but thats due to bad design, the philosophy was always to not exclude certain players. Now WvW players are even more excluded because theyre effforts in completing maps through playing normally are no longer recognized and they have to go to PvE to do 99% of their legendary. And ofc PvP players basically get nothing except 2 clovers at the end of glorious track and a chance at a Pre.

I dont play WvW but i understand entirely where they are coming from. If theyre going to take out WvW from world completion why not add some rewards in WvW that will either compensate for this change, or make getting legendaries/gold easier for ppl who enjoy WvW

Just because pugs call themselves speedrunners it doesnt make them one.
It’s like me advertising for PvP queue with top10 while I played 1 match.

This is a Barnum Statement that leaves no meaningful proposition for me to address :/
As you can’t make an insightful distinction for analysis and critical rebuttal, I will assume you are just still trolling.

He’s saying that pugs aren’t speedrunners. You can’t speedrun in a pug since the whole point of speedrunning is to have everything figured out before hand in terms of tactics.

Many was responding to someone who was basically calling speedrunners elitists and not allowing necros into groups. Thats not true at all since there are many people who enjoy necros and run with them, that guy from rt comes to mind. Just because a “speedrun” pug kicked you doesnt make everyone who enjoys min maxing an elitist who hates other classes.

They should add something else as a reward for wvw map completion. Maybe make new weapons, or give access to mistforged for those who have done it or do it. Im not into wvw but i liked the fact you had to do pve and wvw maps because it was fair to both kinds of players.

Yeah 10s take longer because of pugs, none of my fotm friends run 10s with me because there’s not even a chance for skins like there is on those rare 11-20 dailies. I like the daily reward for fotm because its an extra pristine and a tome both of which are usefult to an extent.

I dont think they should let you choose whatever you want but rather just put it at the max level range you have unlocked

Does anyone else here think that they should make the daily fotm levels different based on someones personal level? Its either 1-10 or 11-20, for people who do 50s daily and dont have much time its kinda hard to do the daily, especially since fotm 10 takes longer than a usual 50. Since dailies scale to level, i.e. if you only have low level characters you only get low level tasks, why not do the same thing with fotm dailies!

I was hoping that during that gem store sale a couple of weeks back we would get the bunny ears, thick rimmed glasses, and aviator glasses back. There are a lot of items that never leave the gem store, panda hats, reading glasses, but then there are these rare few that look amazing that just disappeared a year or two ago. I was wondering will they ever come back. I feel kinda disappointed that there are items that can never be acquired again. Im all for exclusivity that occurs due to difficulty, i.e. legendaries or one time events with difficult challenges, liadri, but if its just something that could be purchased on the gem store why not bring it back?

On a side note will aetherized weapons ever become available again? They are the only skins that are no longer available except from the TP where their prices are absurd and with very little supply. I think theres only 1 pistol up on the tp qq.

Ok some real advice now:

Elementalist: you’re right, don’t duel them. You probably won’t win, and it will certainly take too much time before you do.

Ranger: You’re probably doing something wrong. Condi rangers can be tricky, but in general power rangers are easy opponents for a SD thief. Here are some tips:
- Sword #2 does not require LoS. Hide behind pillars, rocks, on a ledge, etc.
- Once he switches to GS or sword, use the stolen ability and spam SB #2 in it. It’s a healing combo, and if the ranger tries to melee you he’ll get hit.
- Your healing skill breaks immobilization.
- If you failed to dodge entangle, spam SB #3 in it if you don’t have a better mean to mitigate damage. If your Infiltrator’s return is up, use that instead.
- Keep extreme pressure at all time. Don’t be overly careful with your health pool.

i usually try not to 1v1 except if its home (since id think someone would come and help there). But sometimes i guess i go stupid because i normally play engie so im used to 1v1s and often times my team is full of idiots who cant rotate so after back capping i usually 1v1 on the other node. Guess ill have to actually talk to those pugs to ask em for help xD

Im running the meta s/d with strength runes (maybe pack is better?) sigils of fire and air with berserker amulet. The trait set up is 20066 and i take withdraw, infiltrator’s signet, shadowstep, and basilisk venom.

For eles its not really all of them, but only a couple that i come up against. Im not sure if they are tankier or if they are regular cele but it seems like my attacks do very little to their health compared to the damage they do over time. What i normally do is set up basilisk venom do a quick cnd teleport in, do some autoattacks and do my best to dodge attacks using shadowstep and infil strike to get out of ccs and avoid attacks. I do probably use my steal at the wrong time which is a good thing for me to note!

With rangers i normally try to burst then move around to waste thier knockbacks ccs and rapid fire. But sometimes, prob my mistake, i lose the upper hand. Yesterday i had one at 50% health, after dodging rapid fire (did not realize i should interrupt xD) i teleported, was hit with the knockback and was spiked down with gs and cc. It may be that i use infil strike and shadowstep too much, since i feel very squishy i like to move in and out of melee range. With rangers that may be whats messing me up because i cant dodge fast enough when i teleport and their skills are somewhat channeled so the shadowstep doesnt avoid the hit anyways.

Why i mentioned i feel like s/d has less stealth is that often times i use cnd in melee range and it just wont hit. Another one of those things im doing wrong but i find cnd really hard to use compared to stealthing with black powder.

This isnt so much a qq thread as a what am i doing wrong thread

I really enjoy thief in pvp even though its really squishy, and ive alternated between d/p and s/d for the past couple weeks. I like both but prefer s/d just because its a bit more useful in solo queues. However, even though sometimes i can dominate, there are two classes i just cant kill alone. One is ele and the other is ranger, and im mainly concerned with the s/d build. The eles i usually go up against are just the normal cele d/d and most of them i can kill, but the ones who know their rotations i just cant kill. I get them to 50% or 25% health but i eventually die. Rangers i have the worst time against because even when i use crazy teleports to get around them and keep stealthing and flanking i just cant avoid getting hit, and i usually down. On d/p i have an easier time just because of the ability to stealth whenever i want to, on s/d i just cant seem to take them down.

I know there are some builds like turret engie that you shouldnt take on alone, but these two classes dont really seem like that and it feels like an l2p issue

Anyways does anyone have any tips on how to fight these two classes? or some resoures that can get me better at thief?
