This change is silly! Unlike other AI builds, turret builds make the user completely worthless! Hip Shot! Hip Shot! Hip Shot! So mighty! Plus turret Engineers can’t swap weapons and are absolutely worthless off point! It only makes sense that turrets are beefier and stronger than other forms of AI!
I would’ve thought the obvious change would be to have turrets scale with your stats! An Engineer that values damage while sacrificing defense will in turn provide frail, high-powered turrets and vice versa! That way someone that builds to be a bunker can’t deal much damage and someone that builds to be a damage dealer can’t take many hits! But oh well! That logic is wasted on the cele meta which some classes build to be a bunker AND deal decent damage! #Anet!

Yesss this exactly. This nerf was exactly what should not have been done. The reason people hate ai builds is that you have to fight ai. This nerf makes it so its easier to fight ai, but you still have to do it.
They should have gone with the route of balancing turret engie so that they dont do alot of damage while being crazy tanky. That would at least move the focus from fighting ai to fighting people. Now all that will happen is turret engies will set up their turrets in even more annoying places and run around the point avoiding getting hurt. Great change!

It wouldn’t be uncommon for four things to have the same outputs over a small sample size.

In total phantaram hit 168 times and crit about 145 times.
fire sigil can only proc 12 times a minute because of 5s icd. With 2.8 hits a second thats about 33.6 hits that fire sigil can proc (12 seconds of possibility in a minute). with 86.5% crit chance 29.064 hits are crits, and with 50% chance of proccing fire sigil there should be 14.532 hits that fire sigil procs. But ofc its restricted to 12 and since phanty only did it for a minute it makes sense that he only got 11 procs.
Air sigil with a 3s icd can proc 20 times a min. with 2.8 hits a second thats 56 hits, with a 86.5% crit chance there are 48.44 crits. 50% so 24.22 times that air sigil should proc. But its restricted to 20 since the icd.
Not saying his sample is 100% right, but shouldnt he have gotten more than 11 procs with air sigil? he had 145 crits that could have procced it and with an icd of only 3s supposedly he could have procced it at max 20 times. seems somethings a little fishy and it seems unlikely that he would have gotten the same procs for both sigils with the amount of crits he had.

this is a nice change, but i think it would be better to address the fact that turret engies can take the tankiest stats possible and still have their turrets hit for a lot. Sure being able to destroy turrets faster is nice, but on certain maps and places they can put their turrets in places that are hard to reach and be a waste of time. If you changed turrets damage to the engineers stats as well, i.e. a zerker engies turrets would hit harder, a tanky engies turrets would hit weaker. That way they cant just run around a point doing nothing. This also doesnt address the fact that a turret engie can just leave his turrets on a point and run somewhere else.
The changes are nice but im not sure if they are the right ones. I dont think all these changes should be made since that would make turrets horrible (ok actually i wish they would but have to keep build diversity), but i think the damage-stat change would be best.

From what I understand, the team has the tools to reconfigure and re-enable the animations, but the team lead told me that naturally they’ll need to figure out when someone (or maybe more than one person) can be assigned the task. As it turns out, each animation bit needs to be reconfigured individually.
The way Gaile made it sound yes it is basically as easy as flipping a switch.

Mesmers damage isn’t the lowest of all classes…But it isnt that great.
Anet nerfed the increase from ranger runes from phantasms and minipets so theres a dps loss there. Also most of your phantasms will not stay up during an entire fight. Sure in AC you can say “OMG my warden was doing mad damage on that spider queen and didnt die once” but in other scenarios that wont happen. My phantasms die almost immediately at arch diviner, or at lupi. Alot of mesmers power from aa chain comes from having 3 phantasms up which is not easy to do. Also in short fights a mesmer has to create the phantasms which is already time lost.
The reason why mesmer is no longer in the meta is because its dps is worse than guardian and it has worse general utilities. The only times people use mesmer is for portals (at least in speedruns). I definitely think it needs a buff in pve since its harder and more interesting than guard.

What’s bad about ascended crafting is the time gate on mats, the requirement to max out all crafts, and the fact that you need ascended for fractals. Ascended crafting is an extremely annoying grind that is not only gated, but also gates end game content. A lot of people say you dont need it so who cares that its a expensive and to most pretty annoying. Thats not really a good reason to not try and improve ascended crafting.
Atm i have crafted two sets of armor, have not yet made weapons but it is my new goal. The problem im having is deciding whether to craft weapons which will cost the most in leveling crafting or to craft my warrior gear so i can finally play a heavy class in fractals….
You should do the weapons. TBH you should have done the weapons first. One weapon set has a larger impact on your characters overall performance than full armor.
I know but idc about the stat improvement, i wanted to do fractal 50s, and im pretty sure you need more than weapons to get 70 ar. might be wrong tho
Moa form is pretty great. I see a lot of mesmers using it wrong tho. I use it to get rid of lich form, or rampage, or if someone is going to die anyways and i want it to happen quicker.
The cd on the skill and the fact that you have three evades and you still can damage the mesmer a lot makes it so the skill really isnt that OP.

Do you have any specific examples? In pve and in pvp i use lf the same as infil arrow and it works most of the time.
Also infil arrow doesnt work alot of the time as well.
The problem with the whole vocal minority vs. silent majority thing is that its a bad argument for why fixes dont come in. Sure there are a ton of threads over things that are stupid and unnecesary that come from a vocal minority of players but there are also really important threads as well. Those threads represent a common view in the majority of players, the problem is a majority of the players wont come on the forums to talk about it. Nor should they have to. There are things that affect the game that would obviously bother most players. Ascended crafting had a vocal minority in opposition to the way it worked and to this day i have never met a person who liked ascended crafting (really good for character progression right?). Dungeons are more popular than before and yet are riddled with bugs that can basically ruin paths. There are others ofc Traits, NPE, SAB, and others. A company shouldnt require a majority of its players to come to the forums to change something.
That being said atm they are working on HoT so its understandable they dont make changes quickly, although some of these things have been around for a while.

Noticed this recently on cof p1 end boss and Ta end boss my camera zooms in a bit like a cinematic but then gets stuck there the whole fight. Its pretty annoying. Not sure if this bug has been around for a while or its recent, since i just started doing these paths again.
wondering if anyone else has this problem and if theres any fix. My fov is at max and i think i messed around with the vertical slider as well.
if they release fractals above 50 this would be needed for the ar underwater for that first fractal. Or for swamp if you are….bad at the game :P

Dont chase a thief, but if they assault you on point i dont really see why you shouldnt fight them 1v1.
The only class i would not fight them on is mesmer, but you also have to be careful on warrior because their steal will give them a nice burst on you especially if you switch to lb. From my experience on thief, the classes i don’t mind 1v1ing are Mesmers, Warriors, Necros, other Thieves, and Rangers. The other classes will either take too long or be in advantage of the other person. However even on these classes it doesnt mean you cant win a 1v1, you just have to play better than the thief, anticipate steals and avoid their blinds. The best way to end a fight quickly with a thief, from my experience, is give them an opening that they will be sure to abuse, and then burst them down. Feint with dodges since most thieves will steal after seeing one or two dodges.
Also if the thief SRs drop some aoes on the farther side of SR. People always seems to waste their skills on the side of SR the thief obviously isnt in. Also if you’re running fire sigil you can easily spot them if you hit them in stealth. You can also see infiltrators arrow even when the thief is in stealth so you can tell where they are running to.
There is no need for a follow up, if the info is still the same. What you are asking is a chance in policy as you want them to tell you that they will or will not come back. They wont do that.
If they reintroduce them, it will have very little effect on my in game experience as i play with low character details, which means i dont see whatever you decide to put on your head.What i have problem with is useless bumps to this topic a la “No news yet on bunny ears?”

6 months is a long time. Sure Gaile’s response was pretty satisfactory, but after having it not be released when it was expected to, it doesnt seem unreasonable to ask for a follow up does it? Things change maybe they decided not to release them ever, it would be nice to get a word from them.
Also i hope when they do come out you will no longer be mr grumpy and learn to love the bunny ears and all the flowers and hopping that go along with it

On another note this build is super fun. First when i saw this i thought, look at this cheesy kitten. Now i still think its a bitt cheesy, but that may just be because Anet hasnt really balanced condis on thief.
Otherwise its a really fun build. Most people arent prepared for it when you come at them so it works really well. In Stronghold it has really good potential for taking out npcs and other players.
Other thoughts – It didn’t seem extremely OP, more just OP in certain situations. I met a teef running this build when i was on war and it wasnt that hard to kill him (maybe he was bad :P). However i would hate to fight this if i was using my normal crit strikes.

So i made an engineer not too long ago because i thought it would be fun. Turns out not only do i hate playing against cele specs i also dont enjoy playing them. I know some people go zerk with the same build as cele engies run but i was wondering if static discharge is viable at all? I ran it a couple of times today and had a pretty hard time even though it was pretty fun.
The two problems i encountered was it was hard to survive, and i didn’t really know what playstyle i should use. I couldnt act like a normal cele engie because i got bursted down really quick, but it also felt weird playing like a thief or a mesmer :p
Anyways mainly is this worth trying out and if so any tips?
Dont really care about mounts, but i wouldnt mind having them. I find the wp system boring. Sure its convenient but id like to travel around maps quickly without having to teleport.
Anyways as far as this thread is concerned, you can classify those other items as mounts but only in the extent that Anet could easily make something you can ride on. Mounts that people want are still different than those toys. However, this doesn’t mean that your argument for mounts is that bad since the executioner’s axe toy is basically a mount for classes like mesmer that don’t have access to a speed skill. The toy lets them travel faster on a relatively short cooldown.
How is engineer overpowered? not saying I agree/disagree, just want to know what you guys are thinking. I haven’t seen anything op with respect to this game type for any class except Ele.
Isnt static discharge one of the hardest engie builds to pull off. It has super low sustain, and ofc that video is in wvw where most people suck :p
a better example of why engineer is overpowered is cele rifle or turret. Turret isnt really that OP, def not as useful in stronghold. Cele is also not really OP, but definitely needs to be fixed since you have good damage and great sustain. The problem with engies compared to other classes in this map is that you need ccs to stop channels and doorbreakers, and engies have a ton of ccs.
Ofc stronghold is on its first day of testing, and i dont think we can say any classes are GROSSLY imbalanced but i have a feeling engies will be brought up again. They seem to benefit alot from this game mode.
4. NPC’s die too fast, Door Breakers with only like 1-2 up can break a door down quickly. Give gate or NPC’s more HP. Need the casters with swirling winds at Lord for better defensive options.
Yes this…Npcs seem so useless besides door breakers and heroes. 1 person should not be able to solo kill all the guards inside the first gate quickly. Archers…I dont even know what their purpose is besides holding aggro, they seem like a waste of supply.
And the capping of heroes definitely needs to be fixed. I don’t mind that supply requires a cc but the heroes cap should be stopped by any attack since they are pretty important objectives.
Other concerns:
1. Map at times seems a little small for all the objectives present. The heroes and supply are very close to each other and often times your team or the enemy team can just swarm through all three. (not sure exactly how to explain this becuase its not always an issue, but it seems to promote zerging and clusterkittening)
2. Not enough time allowed, games sometimes seem to go to whoever has the most dps rather than who utilized the best strategy.
3. Would work better with more players, also on other version of stronghold it would be interesting to see other objectives as well.

Thats true and im not a big fan of npcs but since theyre in the game mode i think they should serve a purpose.
One game i solo killed all the guards on the enemy team, and after we crushed their offense it was smooth sailing. I think the guards should be at least a little tougher to kill, (not super hard just a little harder) and i feel like the archers should also either get a little more health or more damage.
I constantly found myself fighting outnumbered. This was not due to my teammates being bad, but because there was so much going on at the same time, two heroes popping up, pushing offense and defense, running supplies etc. that it was too hard to communicate without ts. I think 10 v 10 would be great but not on the map they released. I think there needs to be more space between the objectives to curb zerging and to reward players who position successfully.

I still prefer getting a box letting you choose your fractal weapon instead of just letting you buy them. Maybe that would make them less exclusive though, but I like getting things i want as drops not just having to work towards them with tokens. A little bit of rng makes the game more fun for me.

once again i left and advertised the same thing and got 1 warrior. I decided fine w/e he cant be that bad, and then it turns out he and 2 others’ weren’t berserker.
How hard can it be to read the lfg. The warriors in my first two attempts were astonished i even tried to exclude them and one started getting mad when i asked him to switch xD. Oh it was annoying but it was fun.

I think any option is going to be boring and tiring. Crafting both twilight and sunrise is about 5k gold while just buying eternity is 4k. Personally i would just buy it.
He spams an attack that does a lot of damage in a 600 radius and launches you back. The green things constantly knock you over and poison you, meaning it can be difficult to position yourself safely. If you dodge you may end up in the path of one of them and get caught in a bad place. And the trees will spam immobalise on you which will prevent you from dodging and can also further troll you by keeping you in the paths of the green things. To do it effectively you really want someone spamming blocks or constantly interrupting him so you can keep the group out of the green balls paths without issue.

I really don’t understand what the problem is. It’s a two fer, or a skip. When it’s more than 1-9 I skip it, cause I don’t want to do that. But when it’s 1-9 I’m all about it.
What I don’t understand is why you would not do a full fractal run if you’re going to do fractals. They take a bit, but it’s not actually that bad.
Just like I love when there is a Vista Viewer or harvesting in the same region as a zone event run. Knock off two things at the same time.
If you can’t do two, well you only needed three things in the first place. Do the basic fractal, then do whatever the other two PvE things were. Done, quit complaining.

Hard Mode dungeons would be fun, but it really matters how they handle it. To an extent higher level fractals are more fun and more challenging than lower level ones because of how hard the bosses hit. But the reason why so many people enjoy fractals even with the horrible loot, is the interesting boss mechanics. Hard Mode should not just be about mobs taking longer to kill and hitting harder, in fact it should not be about time at all. Instead it should be about mechanics.
Lupi is well known to be the most interesting to fight boss in the game. Sure part of it is because he isnt super fast to kill (In pugs without cheese mode) but its also because he makes you stay awake when you fight him.
Id like to see them add new mechanics to bosses in the game so when you activate hard mode they do new things as well as hitting hard. Make the spider queen spit out an unreflectable ranged attack that bounces between party members and makes them frozen for 3s. Give Lupi all of his attacks throughout all phases including locusts and make them hit harder and in melee range.
Hard mode will probably not get put into the game this way, or at least not for a very long time. They dont have a dedicated dungeon team and it seems like they are focusing on harder open world content rather than instanced. Also people would somehow conflate people wanting a challenge to excluding and dividing the community (blech).
Anyways i hope to see this but i doubt it will happen.
Class dailies in pvp should be focused on first because they actually have a lot of negative side effects. The fractal one is just annoying to people who don’t like fractals (why they don’t I will never understand)
I wouldn’t mind if they take out the overlap (even though I enjoy it at times) if they replaced the daily fractal level range with do whatever level range you want. I normally do 50s and 40s and sometimes go lower if its on the daily. I would rather just do the 50 and the 40 since the players at those levels are usually ok and runs are faster and smoother than lower level ones. The worst daily IMO that I have never done is fractal 1-10. Those runs are…. Painful
Unid dyes as drops was amazing! Getting a new color or a rare one was the best feeling.
If they reintroduced them as drops normal dye prices would drop and maybe then the inflated prices of black lion dyes would also decrease.
My other problem with dyes are the bl dye packs and the whole pay to rng. I don’t get why there isn’t more backlash for these kinds of items, they make the gem store gross.
Daily engie is more of an issue than this.
If you don’t like fractals no one is really forcing you to do them with the double daily. Daily fractal means you just have to do one at any scale. Get some friends or post in lfg, roll for swamp and you will have it done in 5-10 min tops.
We fractal lovers get so little. A repeated fractal skin, a useless healer’s chest, or kittenty unneeded ring is the loot I see on the regular. This double daily makes my fractal running experience joyful because I actually get something for the work I put in. Can we at least keep this part of the daily?
Also if you have never done fractals before, the daily fractal on swamp is seriously 100x easier and less annoying than the daily event completer!

I just wish staff was more than mainly fire. I mean you can get a little more out of it with starting in earth but there’s no fun rotation for it, just let out the hellfire and watch things burn.
DF to me is the most fun, S+LH is fun but frustrating at times when either I down or someone picks up the LH it gets annoying fast. DF is just consistent fun.
Well i think staff is useful and i find it pretty fun to play. Managing attunements to blast water fields, to provide swiftness, to imob and chill, that projectile reflect, and ofc insane dps. But the problem with staff is that you only ever need those other things in difficult encounters, and so i limit my staff use to arah and fotm where the encounters are challenging enough that playing staff becomes fun. (altho at this point not even arah…its become pretty easy)
D/F on the other hand is fun everywhere so i use it in most dungeons unless someone complains

Is it not expected that they’re supposed to be a minor buffer against damage, even if only in a miniscule capacity when being targeted? I don’t understand the reasoning of destroying that just because you’re annoyed that your ‘Nearest Target’ didn’t actually target the player you wanted.
The mesmer one makes sense because theyre supposed to be clones of you in order to confuse your enemies.
Everything else doesnt makes sense.
