Yeah, bombs are GREAT in fractals. Stealth through Ascalon fractal, or blind enemies as you kill through it. Then the Glue bomb is amazing to stop warriors as they charge you, then blind them up. Plenty of other uses as well such as Immob uptime with glue bomb, especially nice now that turrets suck donkey kittens (seriously I have much hate for this change as it ruined most of the spots I actually pulled a turret out with the condi thing).
Anywhere Blind/Stealth is wanted bomb kit is nice. General rule of thumb for me is if I have a thief I don’t need it, if I don’t I’ll opt for it when I want certain skills. Ascalon/Cliffside both great, Harpy not bad at all, old snowblind before they broke the Object Hitboxes it was a godsend.
Toolkit I really like on Mai/Harpy. You can backpedal kite Mai and the Ettin with all the cripples quite easily (once you remove stacks on Mai). FT is also good on both really with the reflects, but specifically Mai, between toolkit and FT you can deal with all the pistol shots if you are quick (I still struggle a bit, slow reaction time). Toolkit is also great for that nasty staircase in Harpy, just dodge till like halfway up then block the rest of the way, and nice if you’re skipping the harpies and run out of stealth (which it’s good for all stealth runs for this, I’ll often go Toolkit/Elixir S/Bomb for stealth runs, swapping in what I need for blasts when/if it’s called for)
Sorry to ramble, but yeah, everything has a use, and kits are ohh so nice, allowing you to use the skills then swap skills to pick up something else, between that and toolbelt skills we can do some pretty tricky stuff. Made this video a while ago of me doing a very mediocre job of our Might stack rotations, swapping in Thumper Turret for the toolbelt skill and bomb kit, and still able to jump right back to what I wanted.
(yeah I suck at video editing, just made it because I realized someone’s guide didn’t have a video for it and I thought it might be helpful so figured I’d give it a shot).
Dont be sorry about the rambling! This is all really helpful info. I felt kinda stuck with the ol’ grenade, elixir, ft only swapping out for elxirs every once in a while. I kinda just want to get a better awareness of when to use what and this has definitely helped.

Sry i shoulda put i meant dungeons and fractals. Basically i was reading over the rT guide and they seemed to be using bomb kit w/ grenade kit and i wanted to know why and if ones dps is better than the others. Also seena lot of people using bomb kit in fractals.

Ive seen two different kit selections for pve, mainly either grenade, elixir, and flamethrower or bomb, grenade, and elixir/tool/flamethrower.
I was wondering if there is any difference between the two and if one is better than the other?

I have been poking about this fix for a month now or so internally now. Been asking to get someone in here to talk to everyone about this bug and what’s up with it but as of yet no dice. I am doing everything I can to get this resolved or some explanations for you guys.
But yeah, I have some extremely tied hands and poking with my poking stick is about all I can do because I don’t control development or production schedules or design decisions. I do take screenshots of comments and paste them into some internal emails though… And the # of live reports, and the forum links, etc. I can make a huge ruckus when it’s needed, but in general everything I do is behind the scenes and I don’t take credit or spill the beans on what occurred to get it to that point.
While I have all the answers, really I am the next thing to a walking encyclopedia of the GW2 bug DB at any time, I can’t really go around shouting what is happening one way or the other because it can change daily… and letting some things I know be known would probably result in my not working for ArenaNet anymore. That’s something that would be kinda poopy and I would like that not to happen, so I avoid it and instead just say slightly nebulous things like “soon” when I see a fix coming for the next release. One day that “soon” will have some real intent behind it. Today actually seems like a good day to “soon” some threads so…
Also yes, reading and responding on the forums is not actually part of my job. I got to a point where I just really didn’t like how you guys felt ignored in this forum and I’m trying to do something about it. I tend to only post positively and I won’t respond to all threads.

in what way is fgs not a good elite? you can use it to move around very quickly. In a reasonably skilled party fgs can be very helpful for moving around classes that have bad mobility like necro, to an extent mesmer, guardians, etc.
Ele’s have alot of things other classes dont, tankiness, damage, sustain, they don’t need great elites. Rampage and Lich are also not press to win buttons either, unless you don’t know how to counter them.
so if the old bunny ears are off the table how about a new set of bunny ears with very minor alterations be made to be released in the gem store instead

Must have been a real pain with the rng of rolling for swamp and then wisps and then getting bloom and not mossy.
Most of my human characters are female except for my duplicate thief which is male. Every so often i switch the gender of my mesmer as well.
The main reason i do this is because i find the animations better for most classes on female (except thief and mesmer where they are equal imo). I also like the variety in looks i can achieve on females, male outfits and armors are usually very similar.
Also im a big fan of the whole bad kitten female hero thing!
Honestly I’d rather get a fractal merchant than a weapon chest. Sure chest is better than the rng right now, but its still rng. I have a friend who does 39’s with me every so often. He rarely does fractals and in the last 5 fractals we’ve done he’s gotten skins (in the span of 2 weeks). That’s the total number of skins i’ve gotten over the last 3-4 months of daily 50s and its more than my friend who’s close to quitting fractals with 1 and a half months of 20s and 30s with no skin, no asc boxes, and no useful rings.
Having a guaranteed way of getting rewards is way better than anything rng imo. It allows people with bad luck to still get items they want and actually enjoy the content, knowing they will eventually get what they want.
There is a conversation going on about this, but no decisions have been made.

Also honestly rampage isn’t really that broken but i wouldn’t be against them increasing the cd time. I’ve seen people pop when they were about to lose in 1v1s and then have it up by the end of their next fight.
Although if a warrior and a necro pop those forms in 1v1 you should consider it a good thing because they might not have it in a team fight where it is actually useful.
The way I handle rampage and lich form at the moment is either to kite them around stuff or better yet if Im playing with friends we just target the war/necro and burst him down really quickly. A ton of people who use rampage and lich think its an instant win button and wont even bother to dodge until they realize they have barely any health left.
The guardian specialization really seems to cater towards pvp and wvw more than pve. However i imagine the specialization might be good for difficult (lol) content by being able to cc bosses and things like that.
i think the warnings are a good thing, but it is really annoying that you have to go back to click the salvage kit after you click the warning. I think if they fixed that it would be better.
I think the videos you are seeing are pretty old, since most people dont use fgs that much since it was nerfed. Watch goku’s many solo’s of ascalonian catacombs or of simply spider queen to see how to do it pretty quickly on staff ele:

I have an alt of every class but ranger and necromancer. At the moment i have 7 level 80 characters and 3 sub 80 that im still working on. However in the past i have deleted 5 lvl 80 characters (fully geared) most of them, besides the 2 rangers, i have duplicates of now.
The main reason i make duplicates are for aesthetic purposes. There’s nothing i like more in this game than changing up my look and i also really enjoy how cute asuras are! The differences in looks and animations makes the game more fun and can actually help me stay interested in things ive done before.
The reason why ive deleted duplicate characters (2 guardians, 2 rangers, and an engie) is because i either got really bored of the class or the character. For guardian and ranger i made another one to see if different animations would make them at all fun and i ended up just not liking the class. I made another guardian after realizing how needed it is in pugs but i still dont enjoy it much. For engie i first made an asura but really didnt like the animations or the class in pvp. Rerolled and now its my favorite class in pve!

As a fellow Alt of Tyria I feel your pain. I was my Puppet Master’s first and only, a glorious hero who traveled the world exploring the many different lands by my master’s side. I underwent many changes through our shared time, new hairs, new faces, expensive armors and weapons, and even a sex change! All these were given to me from my dear Master as i was his one and only.
However, soon my Master made another, a lowly Guardian. Slowly and surely my Master started to pay more attention to him, buying frivolous goods to make him look dapper (he could never be as pretty as me!). I soon feared for my livelihood having not recieved an update in looks, even with the release of new hairstyles!
It ended up being entirely fine as my Master tired of the boring class known a Guardian and came back to his one and only – ME!
This is not the end of the story. While I spent time with my master i became close to ol’ little Guardian and we became friends. We shared similar looks and tastes. All was going well until my Master found the sickening class of Elementalist. That TRAMP took over my Master’s heart and I was left alone in my sorrows. Even Guardian couldn’t keep me company as he soon fell ill and died (Rest in Peace), making way for a plethora of new puppets.
And so it goes to this day, barely ever in the company of Master. Sometimes i see the light of day, or rather the dark of dungeons, but even then im simply called a banner bot (;_;). Once in a while i get new goodies to keep me happy, and I am satisfied my Master still buys me such things, panda hat made me extremely bubbly inside, however my now lowly position is nothing compared to the old glory days, or the position that kitten Elementalist is in. I even hear that prize pig will get a sword soon, the master’s favorite weapon!
I will continue to suffer my loneliness, scheming to take back my spot in the Master’s heart! My day will come when all the alt’s and main’s bow down to me! MUAHAHAHHA FEAR ME ELEMENTALIST I AM WARRIOR QUEEN OF THE LANDS!!!

look bud, I like your play and your full yolo builds but not everyone is going to run zerk so you can kill them easily. I run valk shouts (ham sw/sh) on my warrior, and sure it’s hard as hell to kill- but is it braindead? I don’t think so, I gotta watch my teams health and condis, peel with cc, interrupt ressess and stomps, get ressess and stomps without having stab, and in general play well. there are more roles than full dps. people are going to continue to run bunker and bruiser specs because they are good for the team.
cele is a nice middle ground between bunk and dps, it sacrifices a lot of offense for support. zerker engineer can literally 1 shot people with a combo, cele engi can’t do anything like that, but it sustains well and does good damage. not only is it better in teamfights, but unlike zerker engi it does not have a ‘thieves you gotta kill me it’s so easy’ sign stuck to it’s back. it’s gonna be interesting to see zerker physical warrior emerge, hopefully it can stand up to the new thief (SA op why the 50% dog reduction why). but it has to be recognised that thief makes most classes zerk options unviable.
Eh shoutbow is pretty braindead. Im not saying it cant be tough, since im sure most warriors who play it in tourneys have to pay attention to alot going on, but in general solo queues the build is easy. Also a fair amount of the stuff you said every class has to do, some more than others. Anyways the real issue i have with shoutbows is that they are so hard to kill yet are not super weak. They have great reward with no risk at all.
The same thing kinda goes with cele engi. I feel like engineer is just in general a bit tougher than warrior since you have a lot more going on, but once you understand where your skills are celestial engineer has the same reward with no risk. And just like shoutbow that has more to do with having amazing skills with pretty low cooldowns than just the celestial amulet.
But, this is all just talk as I doubt they’ll put more effort into fractals other than breaking them in untested attempts to fix bugs

Itll probably be a grindy fun system where you are forced encouraged to do open world pve events in order to get enough experience on your class to be able to do fractals above 50! comes along with a reset and a reduction on fractal skin drops!

As a teef main I don’t like this change at all. I enjoyed playing crit strikes instead of panic. It made d/p hard and forced me to learn how to take someone all the way to 0 instead of 50% and then spam. I feel like this change will make only one viable build for d/p because there is no longer a reason to go into a trait line w/o executioner. I know getting buffs is something people enjoy, but honestly thief is in a somewhat good place at the moment. It has pretty good balance, even though people constantly qq about it. Plz dont make it a brain dead class -_- ill have to retire it then.

The next hated thing will probably be celestial stuff by itself. People who played turrets to stand a chance against the celestial meta without being part of the problem will now be forced to go celestial aswell.
Wait wat…who played turrets to counter celestial? Everyone i know played it cuz it was faceroll easy, to farm games, or to troll.
Isnt celestial…currently hated? I hate the heck out of that amulet, warriors, eles, and engies that take forever to kill constantly healing while doing a ton of damage (not wars :p). Its the boringest amulet in the game and really ruins the variety of builds since its basically an everything build. with the nerf it should be a little less powerful but im sure most people will still run those builds until new traits settle in.

OMG ur so funny. It was so bad & so broken that pvp was no longer fun with engies around. The community.. the whole community is saying so. Now it feels way more balance that you guys have to skill somewhat to survive.
No i understand turret engies sucked, and yeah it seems like theyre less powerful, but i really think this fix was silly. The only really tanky turret was thumper, but the problem was more that turrets were so spread out it was a pain to go and kill them and it was easier to focus the engie however he was able to take really tanky stats. Made way more sense for them to force turret engies to run zerker to get any real damage from turrets…idk

this only makes sense if you get to dye your under garments on females.
I dont see how it would really work with human females, besides light armor which already has tops that are basically bras. Imagine someone running around in full forgeman gear wearing no top. It would look downright silly. The best way to do it woudl be to do what someone suggested above, create an armor set for all weights (armor not outfit!) that focuses on shirtlessness and gives the ability to dye the bra on females and also gives legs that work without a shirt.
I know Anet doesnt really look at these forums, but id like to ask if dungeons will ever get looked at again. There are numerous flaws, bugs, exploits, and just some absolutely boring content in dungeons. These things have been around for 2+years and have not been fixed, and with the expac coming soon it doesnt seem likely that they will ever be looked at which is a huge dissapointment.
Even some minor quick fixes would make dungeons more fun, getting rid of events to open them, maybe just adding in fractal weapons box instead of rewards that i assume will be gated behind fractal mastery, taking down the health of some bosses, fixing some boss bugs etc…

Nerf to turrets isnt as severe as people make it out to seem. Supply crate will still provide great ccs in team fights.
yes plenty engineers use elixir x, especially when they want to have fun. Having the toolbelt skill will make it way more useful than supply crate against warriors and necros.
No lich form isnt weak, but its also not that strong. Power necro isnt that great of a build against people who know what they are doing and lich form only works against people who have no patience and cant los.
I don’t think the gimme content now people will ever understand the demand it actually puts on an entire dev team to do it.

Here’s a nice scenario, Engineer runs into mid where the other team has 1 lich form and 1 warrior in rampage. He drops elixir x and they both turn into moas and lose their form. He proceeds to use elixir x to get rampage and stomps them both in seconds.
Doesn’t really seem balanced to me…..especially since mesmers have to take up an entire elite spot for the same thing except only on one person (most good mesmers i see use moa as a way to get rid of other classes forms i.e. rampage, lich, etc…)
I’m pretty disappointed with the changes Anet made with the specialization change. Not only is it going to hurt some build diversity in some classes, its also imbalanced favoring certain classes over others. I know this will be refined before launch so i hope some changes will be made.
Im only going to talk about classes i know a little about.
So first off Ele and Engie are two classes that are very good in pvp. Mainly because of the celestial amulet, but also they have utility skills and traits that give them great survivability while also doing a ton of damage. Both of these classes have other builds such kitten engie and S/F Ele which although powerful, are harder and dont work as well in the current meta. I was hoping that with new specializations celestial would be less worthwhile to take and s/f and sd would be buffed making those builds more viable while also balancing the celestial meta.
Instead Engineers got a major buff in pvp, getting more usable skills such as mortar and elixir x, getting some of their important skills as baseline abilities, making them stronger in pvp and a little nicer in pve. Elementalists now have to choose between two important stats elemental attunement and evasive arcana, and in Air Fresh air or bolt to the heart. The changes will give them survivability and make auras more viable, but will weaken the interesting play they have with attunements and will make fresh air buidls worse than they already are. This along with lightning hammer nerf will make d/f and s/x builds in pve worse and make staff the only go to option in the meta. This hurts build diversity and active play.
Thieves now have major buffs since they can go into 3 full lines, giving them more damage in pve and pvp. The main thing that they did wrong is give panic strike and executioner in the same line in different trait tiers. Basically now a d/p thief in pvp will be able to immob and also deal a ton of damage, whereas before thieves had to choose between more survivability and easier playstyle – panic strike vs.harder play with larger damage – crit strikes. This not only hurts build diversity in d/p builds since everyone will run panic executioner build in pvp but its also a huge buff. Why should one class, elementalist, be forced to choose between important traits while another class, thief, gets them handed to them.
Lastly Mesmer and Necro i won’t go into huge detail since this is already really long. Basically the “buffs” to these classes are not good enough. Mesmers in pvp will be slightly better but in pve both of these classes did not get the things they needed to increase their damage to be in line with others. Necro will remain out of the viable meta and mesmer will still fail at competing with guardian in most scenarios. Anet may be focussing on Necros elite spec making them more viable, but Mesmer for sure needed real changes to their traits in order to make them stronger i.e. moving traits so they can get all they need in 3 lines as well as making phantasms live longer increasing aa attack etc.
I may be wrong since im no expert but from what ive seen there is still a real imbalance in the specializations.
Scepter builds had life in pve. In most dungeons there is no point to run phalanx since bosses die super fast anyways. Its better to just have someone run s/x since it has more damage than d/f and it stacks the same amount of might. Its also easier to pre stack might when you dont have to switch your weapon at the end of it.
LH is not OP in any way and does not deserve a nerf. Its also not that easy to play since you’re stuck with lh which has no utilities.
Ice bow is also not OP for multiple reasons. Bosses seem to get burned to death in seconds because of ice bow, but it has more to do with the buffs the group can keep up rather than the inherent damage of ice bow 4. Its easy to see this if you ever run pugs and organized groups.
This change seems like a lazy solution to the problem that bosses die too fast. Bosses will not die any slower with ice bow nerf, eles will just be less useful. The real way to make bosses harder is to give them a new defiance bar – done, and give them mechanics that makes ice bow and other bursts harder to land, i.e. attacks that force players to cancel the cast or get hurt, making the bosses move and have immob breaks so that not all of ice bows burst land etc.
oh well i guess the same old practice of nerfing damage and increasing mob health.
Lmao…Engineers have cele, they have rampage on elixir x, and now theyre getting aoe moas which is better than mesmers dodgeable interruptable moa….(unless they change that ofc)
The only thing im really concerned about are the traits. It seems like theyre dumming down the whole system, merging many traits and making sure important things are always available. On a whole this is probably better but i enjoyed changing my build to accommodate different things and the give and take between going for more dps or more utility or survivability (mesmer and ele mainly).

They made it like that because a lot of people have complained legendaries are too small on asuras. Personally i think the fire gauntlet is too big but it also doesnt bother me since im usually zoomed pretty far out from my character. Does look silly tho.
They could make it so that person who creates lfg cannot be kicked. Solves basically all usual problems
So multiple sets of Black Lion skins are no longer available from the BL specialist and only available from the TP. The sets i think are the best are amongst this list, Dreamthistle, Fused, and Aetherized. The prices for some of these weapons seems ok, mainly the lower end Dreamthistle and Aetherized ones at 600-800g. The rest are absurd in their pricing. Fused shortbow is at nearly 2500g with only 2 in supply, basically the cost of a legendary weapon.
Now i know these prices are reflective of them being unavailable, and i have to question why that is. The fused weapon set makes some sense, since it was from the first living story (i think?) event in the game which makes it rightly exclusive. Personally I would have just made the gauntlets exclusive and let the weapons stay with the specialist as they had been for a pretty long time. The other sets have no reason to be unattainable. The weapon skins are either at ridiculously high prices, or have little to no supply. The other skins that are available pale in comparison, the only ones that i think come close to the historical ones are some of the tempest and tormented skins.
I know exclusivity can be a good thing for items in game. However, i don’t feel like it works for BL skins. The skins themselves are only available through rng with gem store bl keys. The last time i tried this (when i wanted to get the Aetherized pistol) i wasted some real money and some gold and didnt get enough ticket scraps. Now the tickets are even harder to get with the low drop rates. The skins don’t really reflect an achievement, besides the fused ones which can show someone being around from day 1. Personally I have always seen BL skins to initially be fairly cheap skins that were special to an event, and as they aged to settle to prices between crafted skins (foefire etc.) and precursors. I find it disappointing that so many great skins are either unavailable or so expensive they basically compete with legendaries.
Anyways it would be nice to see some of these skins come back.

Its a pretty bad stack that the pugs use bc they go right up against the wall out of the traps range which ends up letting a fair amount of gravelings live. Honestly the whole room is pretty lame doing it the pug way with traps, so for me it doesnt really change anything having 1 person tank or having 4 people stack. Same boringness.
Ofc we all know the real way to do it, and that is actually way more fun to do. But try getting pugs to do it….
