if you waste your initiative in a fight you cant escape properly and you die. If you get revealed in a team fight with no way to back out when ccs come in or aoes you die pretty fast. With usually only one way to remove conditions, unless you play panic strike, you die if you dont dodge through aoes. I once lagged when trying to steal backstab a necro when he moved away from his wells and somehow got caught in them and i got bursted in 2s. Pretty punishing sometimes
Take a zerker warrior who has a burst on his longbow and on his greatsword. His cooldowns are fairly low and he has about 23k health. He can remove conditions on swap and has traits to basically be immune to damage and to conditions. If he messes up something its not nearly as big of a deal, especially since warriors have pretty good mobility.
@Xaylin Stealth usually lasts for 2-3s max when you’re trying for a backstab, unless you actually get time to prepare and see someone coming. If you miss your backstab it is basically disabled because it will take a while to be able to get into stealth and position again. As i said before I really dont see how this is that much of an issue since most of the times i miss a backstab i dont end up landing it since a good part of the stealth is wasted on waiting for the person to not expect it or if i do its not on the persons back and only hits for like 1k.

Sorta reviving a dead thread here, but I’d kill for a class change store item. Race change, too, if that’s at all possible. Ever since they changed how the traits worked (where now you have to hunt ‘em down via world comp or champ events, etc, etc), I’ve been utterly discouraged to make a new character, even if I desperately want to play a certain class, and I doubt I’m alone in this.
…So, pretty much, ANet should consider giving us an option to change classes (even if its from one Medium Armour class to another, etc, etc) in the Gem store. Charge us 1K gems for it, if they have to — I don’t think anyone’d mind.
What do you want to change your class to? Necro?
I dont think people know how thieves stealth lol. Whenever i go for a backstab ill do at max three hs in black powder which gives about 3s or less of stealth, idr. the icon for stealth is blinking the entire time. When i miss a backstab usually its because someone evaded someone else’s attack, and when they do sure i dont get revealed but i basically do anyways because stealth doesnt last that long. 70% of the time my backstab doesnt hit, i dont land another one or if i choose to its a waste of initiative and time.
By logic i can understand why block may be able to reveal, although i think this gives a huge disadvantage to thieves when they fight guards because landing that initial backstab is important in forcing the guard to waste his heals and blocks, and its already pretty difficult to fight guards on thief.
When it comes to evades or blinds it makes no sense why it should reveal since it didnt connect.

+1 i think the instruments in this game are one of the best things about the game. I love being in pvp lobby and having someone play something for me. Gives me something to do while waiting for queues. This could be a really fun idea especially for rp’ers!
i would suggest messing around in hotjoins or practice when you get into pvp. The games in practice are not fun bc they end up being one sided but you also dont usually get the usual kitten expecting you to follow his every order.
Also Warrior is extremely fun especially for new players in pvp because it has a lot of customization possibility and is pretty forgiving. Check out metabattle for builds that most people use but also dont fear trying out your own ideas. But meta builds are good for understanding sigils runes and most importantly traits!
you can start out with hambow or shoutbow because they are really easy, but for fun i would def recomend gs or axe builds!

Anyways i didnt get to test in the beta, but i was watching tarcis stream this morning. Seems like they need to do a lot of work on the class toning it down a little. Has a lot of condis, as well as a lot of just general benefits and easy blasts.
Besides the OPness of it at this stage in the beta, i personally probably wont play it much. I never liked support roles and i can see revenant becoming known for support especially in pvp.
Edit: What’s wrong with the revenant op nerf asap bs? it really does feel at the very least slightly over powered. And thats entirely fine since its a new class so it makes sense Anet would make it as best as possible than tone it down to balance with others.

i have a friend who constantly trash talks me, and then whenever we do fractals he whips out rifle on warrior and sits back and ranges all final bosses….
but really for me its thieves who dont take sword/pistol when the group needs blinds in fractals, or the ones who argue that d/d > blinds
Of course this kind of system again only really works if you split up team and solo queues. The amount of rng in winning a solo queue match is ridiculous when compared to a team queue. The times i play with my friends my win ratio is about 70-80% when i play on my own it drops way lower.

Since the leaderboard change my matches have been getting worse.
Before when it was based entirely on how many games you played I was around the top 300 in the leaderboard, even though i only started doing pvp a month and a half ago. Basically im an average player and since im on thief I cant bunker points or hold 2v1s for very long so i cant carry that much. All the ranked games ive played have been with noobs against much better teams, And unlike many others i no longer have the time to play a lot of games. I feel like im suffering for being somewhat high on the leaderboards before the changes, and now ill probably not be able to get on the leaderboards after the 8 weeks.

So the first thing is kind of a question since most ppl ive asked havent noticed this. I just bought the wreath of cooperation (now my wallet is emptyyy) and whenever i run it seems to drag and lose its shape. Its really bugging me since it wasnt exactly cheap and it looks fantastic on my characters.
The second thing is more annoying to me. Whenever i wield staff or rifle, staff on ele or rifle on engie and jump with it my character bugs out. At the highest point of the jump the character kidna pops up for a split second. Im one of those people who jumps everywhere and all the time so it really bothers me. Has anyone else noticed these or is it just weird little me?

I had an idea of how to nerf necro in a way that promotes fun and counter play. It may sound extreme but i have no doubt this change will keep necro op in gw2 pvp
My idea is to half all the extra health bars necros have. This way when a team works together to get the necro to 10% health, they cant just spam buttons to get a whole bar of health.
My back up ideas are to restrict wells to only off point, and to get rid of the channel on life siphon. In addition make necros lich form last at max 6s.
With these changes necro will still be op but might not be totally broken.
Also fear from necro should be half the fear duration and a necro should not be able to fear players who are invisible.
Thoughts?
P.s. i have ran these changes by a focus group of ppl i think and they all say they are good changes.

theyre’s already enough counterplay with channeled skills, Aoes, spamming 1 hoping you hit them
The amount of times ive died on thief just because of aoes i didnt see, lag that prevented me from dodging through hundreds of wells necros put under their feet, or insanely long channeled skills getting me through stealth is countless.
also initiative is pretty hard to maintain when u spam skills. you really have to pay attention to be able to interrupt heals and stealth as well.
I honestly don’t see the point of crafting ascended gear apart from a completionist stand. The stat difference is marginally better and not worth the cost. It’s really only required for high level fractals which is hardly an endgame since the reward gain isn’t really there.
High Level fractals is actually kind of the only engame gw2 has (for me and many others at least). Sure kittenty rewards, but the challenge is fun and most of the players at level 50 are pretty good. Every dungeon can be done with any group and with some people having bare knowledge of whats going on. But fractal 50 takes a moderate amount of coordination to finish at a reasonable pace which makes it fun and worth the ascended armor.
Thumbs up to the OP, this would also make getting chests with stats you dont want useful. I have a fair amount of ascended armor pieces i cant use atm because i have no use for them, except maybe for ar.

Ive noticed this problem on my ele, mesmer, and engineer. Whenever i wield rifle or staff and jump the jump animation bugs out at the highest point. Basically it looks like my character is popping up for a sec. Its kind of subtle. I would provide a video of it but i dont have any way of recording atm. I know one other person in map chat who had the same issue. My animation is at high so thats not the issue.
I kinda cover it up on the character that wear it by using the strider tunic. But yeah this bothers me a lot since its clipping with the base model which shouldnt happen

Just some math for the gold-gm vs gold-dye conversion:
Assuming you have a fair chance for all 25 dyes and you buy 25 kits for 2.5k gems.
The gems would cost more than 400 gold, with the conversion rate from the previous days roughly 340 gold.In addition you pay more in the tp for the non-gambling but get other dyes on the other hand if you gamble.
All in all I would expect the dye to go up to around 300+ gold very fast in the tp.
Did I miss something or is now a good time to buy the color while it is cheap for some gold instead of gambling lots of gems?
Actually im not sure if this makes total sense. Sure mathematically it should go up a lot, but theres a price cap for how much people are willing to pay for a dye. Its totaly possible this dyes price will stay at the same place its at, or maybe even drop as hype goes down. But then again i could be wrong

if you were guaranteed to get a shadow dye, that sentence would look something more like: “Each dye kit costs 18g and the price of shadow dyes varies from 2g-15g, with one at 50g”
Is that bad? Shouldnt 200g for a dye be the price after its inaccesible and only a limited supply remains. Obviously something is wrong if its one of the most expensive dyes on the TP right when it comes out.
Again im not complaining about the RNG so much as im asking them to change the way these dye packs are handled. If they have to include other worse dyes in order to make artificial prices why not include ones that are higher tier, like the 1-10g ones on the TP? My vote of course goes to just having shadow dyes only in the packs with maybe the better colors having a lower drop rate.

I mean i see a fair amount of turret engies teaming up and thats already annoying but there are alot of times that classes just somehow get teamed up. Itd be nice for some kind of change to that.
Im getting kind of sick of being matched up against multiples or with multiples of a class. For example today i got paired with 3 theives against 3 eles (im a thief so it was actually 4). There wasn’t even a daily for either class. Ofc my team got wrecked because eles can take a while to kill and bc the thieves had no clue what to do. Next game my team won but it was 2 rangers and 2 thieves on my team against eles warriors and guardians all who were tanky. Sure tanky can be countered with dps but its not exactly an easy or a quick counter.
It would be nice for class to be taken into account at least a little bit. Its obvious which classes will run tankier builds and which class will not. Sometimes its hard to tell because some necros go ful power and some focus on condis etc. but in general is not too hard to differentiate and it would at least help to make the teams more even and have it be more fun in general
So your point is that the change barely affects the speed which makes the change unnecessary because it just prolongs the fights. That doesn’t even make any sense. I will agree that it doesn’t add difficulty (strategy wise). But surely diminishing the gap between 35s and 80s is hugely more important than steamrolling through the dungeon anyway. Plus, it does make itharder for people who haven’t super memorized the speedclear way.
I prefer that scaling works alot better now, rather than some arbitrary increase in dungeon time spend. If you’re good enough you can speed it up even more still rather than hang back.
If anything the length should be moving towards a normalized length that applies to all the levels above the dungeon level. Which means that if it does take too long the dungeon need to change, but not the downscaling system.
Actually how is it important to diminish the gap between 35s and 80s. What is the point of leveling you’re character and wasting money getting gear if you’re going to have a cap that makes you just as efficient as a lvl 35 in masterwork gear? Im all for making dungeons harder but i see no reason in lowering the efficiency of gear or making lvl 80s less powerful.
The reason why they chose not to do that was they didnt want to exclude anyone’s playstyle, meaning you should be able to get any weapon regardless of how and what you play. I don’t agree with this at all, but i do understand the reason behind it. However I feel like they will introduce some skins that are only available through content in the expansion. Maybe maybe not we will see.
There is one place you can get skins through content, although it has really sucky rng: FoTM

Slickshoes is really way worse than entangle or ring of warding, most of the time i know when the guards going to use rign and when he does i can just drop black powder and im fine. Entangle i can get out of it using a teleport or infiltrators sig or steal. Slick shoes the only one i can use is shadowstep because infil sig and steal will still get me knocked back.
Today i was up against two engies one knocks me down while the other uses slick shoes so i teleport away, i push one of them away and start to get him down he pops slick shoes again b4 my teleport comes back up and im shafted…srsly needs to have the cd increased and not affect ppl standing still
Im more concerned about the effects this will have to PvP, Thief, mesmers, and guardians all need to be able to teleport to targets out of range to be useful. Thieves already have it pretty hard in PvP and this just hurts them even more.
That being said i didnt even realize this consequence of the patch and its really interesting to see how the RP community, and people who just enjoy messing around in maps and finding cool things feel about this. I have a friend in game who basically just spends their whole time finding cool glitches in maps to reach amazing spots, and ofc they do it on mesmer xD. Im not an RPer and I dont see many in game anymore, but i think theyre a pretty fun community and i fully support not implementing this patch for their sake and mine!
also in regards to dungeon exploits, sure they exist but I’ve seen relatively few people use them, besides sellers. The main reason being most people are smart enough to know that it takes longer to explain an exploit than to just do it the normal way. Also if they went to fix the exploits instead of fixing teleporting maybe dungeons would actually get looked at by Anet for the first time in like the last 2 yeras.
edit: Didn’t know the patch was today and i wasnt able to test out teleports seems like its a major buff for pvp so only pve has gotten a nerf.

Is this a surprise? does anyone actually like fractals? idk about anyone else but after doing hundreds and hundreds of runs and getting a single ascended drop i can say that i want to get in and get out in the fastest way possible.
Me and like a dozen friends love fractals and do them daily just to screw around, hell we spent a few hours last night just exploring maps for fun.
Honestly fractals are probably the best content in the game right now. I used to hate them because of the rewards but rewards become boring after a while and its all about challenges. I love me sum fractals!

Its not easier, i said the fight is relatively easy. Mossman really isnt too bad and its soooo much faster on land than in water and its actually fun

However we require all our team members to play naked ON WEBCAM, since theres nothing better to do while our turrets are fighting for us than to admire one another’s bodies. If you’re OK with this, come with us and unload our turret skillz all over pugs.

Ive played against a spirit weapon guardian…He did about as much as an engie did just stood on point and circled around pressing his utilities when they popped off cd used his healing and elite skill whenever he needed them. I dont think its possible to argue any ai build takes enough skill that it deserves a boost.
Also why should ai deserve a boost anyways…power to the people who play relying on their own abilities not their conjured turrets or weapons ability to annoy!
If its just about the order and personal story stuff its really not worth it. I only delete characters due to aesthetics i.e. race or if i just dont like the class. You can make another character with a different order.
You know whats annoying about inventory is not the lack of space which can be solved but the inability to have items go where you want them to. Fractal exotic bags used to help but now with ascended my weapons go to random places whenever i unequip espeically if i swap two weapons for one. Id pay a ton of gold/gems to get a bag that only bound gear would go into, or a bag where i can set where each thing will go when unequipped.
Had a warrior in fotm 50 today without enough AR who was running shout heal sword warhorn longbow tell the rest of the group they didnt have enough damage and that they werent skilled enough to just kill the mob after the tunnel in molten furnace without losing. He kept aggroing and just whirlwinding/ aoeing with his longbow while the rest of us tried to stack in the back. He finally listened and it was finished in seconds…funny stuff as usual
