When having 15 characters you do not make 2 or 3 zerker warriors…
There is no point doing so..
Likewise you are not going to make a second zerk staff Ele

ALL mains have ascended or better weapons, except for my main necro.
MOST alts have ascneded weapons as well,
most characters except for the zealots carriers have ascneded trinkets as well… most zealot carriers have a zerk trinket set.I deleted:
1 mesmer (zerk) hated the gameplay and I hated the asura. 1 yr old ~43 hours
1 engineer (zerk, rampager) Well this was the class I looked forward to the most. He got 2 sets of armor, and when he got his 2nd birthday gift I deleted this asura. ~42 hours played.My account is now 6000+ hours… I play 5 sylvari, 4 humans, 3 norn and 3 charr.
In the end a wider range of characters allows for more trials…and allows for a wide range of uses… I run DPS, healers, support, conditions, DPS/Condi hybrids, and on…Zerk Meta is just the point where it starts.
Sheesh thats a long list. Actually i have made and leveled to 80 15 different characters but atm only have 8 and i dont understand, but thats because i make new alts for different looks (im a casual fashion wars player :p).
The question i have is what exactly does the zealot’s armor give you that other stat’s don’t? Actually i agree they should make the recipe buyable from the vendor since they should stop limiting stat combos (please release ascended assassins pieces!!), but what exactly makes zealots useful. I always thought healing power sucked, but even if it doesnt can’t you achieve basically a similar stat combination by mixing pieces?
Edit: didn’t see laokoko’s post xD but yeah is there a need for zealots over clerics and zerk?
Just make a different set of armor with better stats….?
Ele is really fun, but mesmer is really rewarding as well. Ele is probably what you’re looking for but i suggest you try out mesmer a bit. It can be boring at low levels but at higher levels of play mesmer can be a savior for pugs with all of its utilities. (its not as good as guard at carrying but its more fun
)
Some tips for Ele: Start off with dagger/focus then graduate to scepter/f or staff. Dagger focus is one of the funnest weapon sets to play on any class and its also the easiest build on ele because you get a reflect an invuln and a projectile absorb. Staff has the highest dps and its the build you should use for most content unless you need to stack might. However it can be much more difficult to play because you really have to pay attention to your attunements and cds in order to stay alive and be able to channel skills.
Some other tips, Take glyph of elementals in earth to “create” a tank that will take aggro from mobs and keep you safe. Take glyph of storms in earth to create sandstorm basically perma blinds for a time period (really useful). Check out DeKeyz guides on youtube to find builds and rotations.
Learn some might stacking rotations as well! (Goku’s is especially good)

i think the only one in game is gwamm. Id really like to see the other ones: “I have many leather bound books” and have them be obtainable in interesting ways. I feel like a lot of the titles in gw2 atm are a little bland. Some of them sound cool but most of them dont mean anything. Id like some funnier titles (the guild hall one is way better than gwamm imo)

All players are light users as well. I was addressing specifically the heavy and medium line from the quoted post.
All players have EQUAL access to the classes, thus all players are equally light, medium, and heavy users.
Because all players have the equal opportunity to use all three armor grades, the price disparity is NOT discriminatory.
CHARACTERS are restricted, but players are not.
So even though a player who plays a light armor class as his/her main will probably only craft one set of ascended armor, the higher cost is in no way unfair because they could have played a heavy armor class instead? LOGIC!

That doesn’t make me this evil elitist person – it means I respect myself and my time and require more of those I play with than maybe the average GW2 player.
Actually most of the pugs i join that ask for gear checks and things usually have worse players than the ones that just ask for experienced xD.
The reason why a filter should not be added is that it will just increase hatred towards certain classes. Why pugs have AP requirements above 3k or require certain classes is beyond me. 90% of content in this game can be done with any class, the only places i can understand a filter for class is Arah and FoTM (and even Arah you dont need one).
If you really dont want to play with bad pugs just get some friends and run dungeons with them. At least then if you have to pug some spots you will have the classes you need. Its not like its that hard to get a good group in this game that you need to add a whole new feature to exclude people.
It takes me forever to get enough silk to craft an ascended piece. Yes it drops a fair amount but it takes 300 scraps to make one bolt. It takes me two days of doing fractals and dungeons to get over one stack. The rest of the mats i get with ease and i dont need as many.
Just lower the cost of making the bolts, 50 bolts needed and only 2 silk scraps per bolt.
Or get rid of the timegate so people can just save up silk and craft it all at once instead of having to buy silk every day.
So revert the amounts needed back to a point where silk was at vendor value?
And how does this solve anything? Silk is VERY easy to come by. Run Silverwastes a few times and you’ll get all the silk you could ever want. It drops from bags and chest, and is obtained through salvaging. In 1 run you can easily get 20+ bags, and a ton of gear to salvage.

i think with that it would reach a more reasonable price while still being worthwhile.
I dont mind having to buy silk but after a day of dungeons i can spend a good 3-4g on silk to craft one bolt, which i think is a little too much.
They should also find a way to make mithril and wood more valuable. I dont think the price of ascended armors and such is too much, but i think its bad that the cost of the armor really just comes down to the silk rather than the other mats. If they balanced the mats and it still cost the same people who have already crafted their armors (like me) would not riot and people who craft for only one weight could profit on the mats they dont use.
(and yeah silverwastes is good for some things you need in ascended crafting. I grinded it for a bit when i made my second set of armor, but it gets tedious and i think these kinds of discussions about the game should be focused on making the experience fun and rewarding)

I would like this for fractals 40-50 so when i ask for a guard i get a guard.
But for the rest of the game this would be bad. Pugs have no idea what a good class is. Ive been kicked or asked to change my class a couple of times already when i play on engie, which is hilariously ironic.
There is only one class that is not especially useful and that is necro. But even then their dps isnt terrible so theyres no reason not to take them. Having a successful run has nothing to do with class or AP. Its just about builds and most importantly player skill, the first one you can check by requesting pings and the second you cant.
also you can just kick people you dont want…its not that hard

Only that Lore and Story wise its game breaking, as there is no such race that naturally grows bunny ears in game, and never has been (accept for actually bunnies). So for we who like to immerse ourselves into the story and cling to whatever fraction of realism the game has left, to pretend and imagine that the world of guild wars is a real, palpable place, guided by its own laws of nature, science, and magic’s, we who like to roll play, and create histories and lifestyles for our characters, well things like bunny ears and black wings really ruin it for us.
But well, I think its far too late to complain about such thing, they are already here, and some of them are permanent, so for those of us who don’t like them, we simply have to ignore them, and play however we desire without enforcing our opinions upon others. GW2 tailors to many different player bases, from launch it was meant to satisfy a large variety of play styles and interest groups, so we should respect that policy and the wishes of other players even if we do not share them.
I don’t like bunny ears, so I wont wear them, and I honestly would prefer a game without. Yes, I do they are cute, no, I do not think cute things belong on a battlefield where friends are dying all around you. But that’s how I play. If others want to wear bunny ears, then by all means, let them be bunnies. When we play together I will simply use my imagination to edit them out, XD
Yeah i respect that viewpoint. For me i like the silly things in this game. Since gw1 ive loved all the game breaking things xD and i missed a couple of the ones i really wanted like bunny ears, hipster glasses, and aviators. And i dont mind getting edited out ;D

1. Anything glass, 2. Requires set up to burst, 3. has relatively easy to avoid burst, 4. having said burst requiring defensive cooldowns or resources, and 5. limited and/or restrictive ports.

Let’s not forget all while being countered by almost everything else in the competing slot, and naturally soft countered on point/a flat by every current meta low risk bruiser or condi cleave.Only thing that fits all that criteria is Shatter mes. Call me bias but I cannot understand how anyone can say anything else is objectively harder than that status quo.
Power ranger, Fresh Air, Medi Guard, and both D/P or S/D thief all have very little set up. Thief, Ranger, and Guard, in this context have more damage AND more survivability (Theif and guard not even needing to worry about LoS). Although Fresh air may get the shaft a little bit more in the defensive department they still have more defensive cooldowns.
But the other glass builds I mentioned are definitely the runners up… except maybe medi gaurd.
Although mesmer is kind of in a weird place, from what i see. Its definitely one of the hardest builds because its survivability is so low so being able to handle fighting 1v1 and kiting around takes way more knowledge than most other classes. At the same time a lot of people dont know how to fight mesmers and die really easily lol. I think in lower tier pvp its a fairly easy to play class. Higher up its hard especially if you dont have a good team.
and once again disappointment. Unlike all of the stuff in the gem store today, the things people asked for in this thread would have taken literally no work to release….

The baldness thing really bothers me whenever i see people who wear the hat. I mean its totally fine to make your character bald if you want, but i dont think it should be inherent in the design of the hat.
On a side note a lot of the helms for heavy armor and some for medium fit way too snugly on the characters head – male and female, and look really awkward. Its the main reason why my chars will never wear helms bc very few of them look ok. (examples of bad ones – Illustrious medium helm, aetherblade medium helm with certain dyes, all of the heavy loot armors, carapace heavy)

There are invisible walls in many places.
Some are to prevent people from skipping content in dungeons. Arah is the main example where people will use jps to skip bosses. Ofc instead of placing invisible walls its much better to just require people to kill every boss in order to finish the dungeon. This would still allow people to do Jps to explore and get different angles on things.
Some walls are to prevent exploration. Not entirely sure about this one since the latest patches but i think some jps no longer work in cities due to teleport changes and invisible walls. If this is true its really saddening since its really fun to glitch into structures. Getting into the aquarium in DR or getting to the top of DR is so fun! If you’ve never seen DR from above you are missing out, its like what disneyland should look like
. And i know for sure they put some invisible walls to make it harder to get to it.
Celestial is only good for classes with access to might stacking.
Let’s not confuse “classes” with engi and ele and possibly warrior. Ranger, necro, mesmer, and guardian are not using celestial. That’s more classes not using celestial than classes using it.
People just like to whine about celestial because some of those builds hardcounter their precious berzerker/condi bunker builds.
Thief and Guard are the only classes that dont use cele in the meta. The other three classes use celestial and all three were on the final teams in the last tournament. People “whine” about celestial because its a boring and stagnating meta, not everyone likes reward without risk.
Anyways my point was that celestial amulet’s use in pvp isnt really a great sign for how ai can change the meta. Celestial amulet is boring in pvp and will be even more boring in pve where mistakes arent punished as much. Anet’s plan to change ai could either force tankier builds on people or make people wish they had tankier builds because the content is that difficult. If content is difficult but still can be completed with any class and any build that is a sign of good design and a real challenge. Needing to take a tankier stat doesnt make it challenging just costly.

The problem isn’t that it’s impossible to avoid everything significant, it’s that it’s easy to. Make the AI less predictable, and you’ll see more diversity. Berserker wasn’t even the most commonly seen set in the last PVP tournament, people were switching to celestial for the added durability, condition damage, and healing power.

Well he does have a point and thats exactly what they’re supposed to do with HoT, adding in better ai. But yeah it shouldnt push players away from berserker but instead towards becoming better players.
The new pvp meta most people would argue is a bad thing not a good one. Celestial is a somewhat broken amulet allowing people to take a fair amount of hits and deal pretty great damage especially with might. If anything that is a worse meta than having to either sacrifice survivability or sacrifice damage. If cele became meta in pve people would stack even more and just not dodge….

These two should be in medium. Both of them require you to know your skills but theyre both fairly forgiving and allow you to survive while dishing out a lot of damage. I would rank enige as harder than ele tho between the two builds. Maybe its just because i know all my ele skill instinctively from Pve, but the few times i hop on my d/d ele in pvp it seems like i cant be killed…..

for example you are a sailor moon fan and want to make a character called “chibi moon”. That is obviously taken. So you can make for example a character called “chibi little moon” etc.

Actually at first i thought this would be horrible
But now i kind of like it. With the ability to mute i wouldnt care about the trollers and the ragers. It could also be a nice way to get to know people in pvp solo qs better. And ofc organization is alot easier when talking. Its pretty hard to type in the middle of combat.
Id rather they balance some stuff first before they do this, but it would be cool to have in game voip. Also maybe player made channels as well.

Ive spent i think 400g so far on 4 name contract changes because i am wasteful and if i start disliking my characters name, i just dont want to play them anymore.
I had the same issue trying to get the name i wanted – Nyx, so i got creative adding adjectives to it, messing around with accent marks (super helpful). If the accent mark thing doesnt work (try it for every single letter in the name and every combination :p) then add upper case I’s to either side or X’s stuff like that.
I will never understand the people who have a problem with the gameplay in dungeons.
well ok no i understand some of the hate for what pugs do, like pushing bosses into walls when they dont need to be pushed. But aside from that i find that most people who hate on the berserker meta, think that being squishy = losing and stacking together. No the reason why people stack behind corners is because its cleaner to fight that way. I dont want to stand outside and get hit by every chanter while slowly killing them one by one. Id rather LoS them around the corner and kill them all at once with some blinds. That has little to do with berserker gear. Even if soldier’s was meta id still do the same thing. Why that kind of gameplay, using your brain (which i know even people who stack dont use because they only do what theyve seen before) to make killing mobs easier, should be punished…it makes no sense.
Dodging is a great mechanic and the ability to play even the hardest content with little protection makes the game interesting, more difficult, and just fun. I love the risk i take in berserker gear when im meleeing archdiviner or shaman when everyone else is ranging. Its fun and its more difficult than playing with nomad’s gear.
However, i can agree with the OP but for different reasons. I like the fact that mai trin’s shot is un dodgeable. Ofc you can use skills to block it, you can kind of dodge it with fiery rush or heartseeker, but you cant flat out dodge it. That along with the unblockable projectiles makes the whole scenario interesting and rewards players who can manage those attacks. If more bosses had interesting mechanics that promoted the use of different skills at different times, blocks, reflects, dodges, i would be 100% in support of that. As long as those new mechanics didnt come with a canon phase

if you have 25 AR you can just join someones lfg for a 20-29 or have someone open it for you. I cant imagine grinding for a fractal backpiece doing only sub 20s….

Gaile responded to a thread a couple months back and said she knew how many people wanted them and questioned whether they should wait till easter (summarizing im pretty sure she said something like that). Anyways that post has had me hoppin for ears to come this week.
So i started pvp playing mesmer gs s/t and i rarely used portal because i thought it was stupid and instead slotted condi clear.
Now ive come back to playing mesmer and realized that portal is extremely valuable to mobility, but im still not really sure how to use it properly. Can anyone give me some tips on how to and when to use portals usefully?

Im not really affected by the system but i think its stupid. 500g cap is very low, i dont know why anyone would risk paying a gold seller to get just 500g. Also i dont think there are that many gold sellers in the game…I havent seen anyone who used their services and i dont think anyone would. Its easy getting gold in the game so its kind of pointless. From my anecdotal experience i would say there are probably less gold sellers than there are people who have over 3 thousand gold saved up.
Guess what im saying is you can either spend the time to hurt the gold sellers (even though there may be other ways of doing this and the cap should be increased) or you can accept gold sellers and make the system easier on the real players. I prefer the latter, unless i saw evidence of a large amount of gold selling and a real reason to curb it.
I think that crafting should give more xp for the gold it costs…but thats just me being a greedy altoholic

There are some professions that can swing wildly depending on build (bunker guard vs DPS guard, condi ranger vs LB ranger, shout war vs GS zerk war). Thief and mesmer are not in that category and never will be. There should be an extra rule discouraging thieves and mesmers from being on the same team.
Thief mesmer and engie i would say. I think most players out there will agree that in these classes the builds are kind of set and most people only run one or two builds.
Thief its d/p or s/d (and then the minority of venom share or condi or p/p or cheesy p/d)
Mesmer its s/t shatter or staff shatter (and then minority condi or maybe PU?)
Engie its cele rifle or turrets (and then a minority on condi)
Thief and Mesmer people really don’t want to see more than one on their team because the classes dont do well holding points and are better at roaming. Also they require a higher skill level to learn to play properly
Engineer people love to see on their team because the class does well at killing and at holding down points. It is sometimes a guaranteed win when you have a ton of turrets and its not too hard of a class to play (well not really but its more forgiving than teef and mez)
If these three classes were prevented from stacking it’d probably be fine (or maybe also throw in ranger into that mix)
but personally i would wish they would just try to prevent any class from stacking as much as possible. Yes you cant guarantee what build a person is running nor should they spend their time figuring that into their algorithms, but certain classes have a nature of play and it can get boring and frustrating to play against a team of the same class.

Ill agree this build is pretty easy to counter when you dont have idiots on your team, I love seeing turret engies drop their kitten on far because then i know we can just fight mid and home. EZ PZ
That said when you have bads on your team it is extremely frustrating to fight turret engies.
1. They require less skill than any other build in the game compared to the reward they receive.
2. The turrets themselves rarely die from cleave, so you have to actually spend time to kill them if you go with that stupid route.
3. Engies can just leave them at one point and go support another which is frustrating because no one wants to fight just ai..
4. Turret engies makes the whole atmosphere in pvp games bad. The build itself makes people feel like better players than they actually are. The amount of trash talk I’ve heard from turret engies is….uncomparable to even classes that i consider require skill or people who play the same class as me. It creates a toxic environment, especially since it creates hate towards the turret engie….even i trash talk them (and i rarely say anything in pvp). 5. 5. Turret engies also create games that just arent fun. I look forward to matches where i can test how good i am on a build and play against actual people. When you go up against teams of 2-3 turret engies the whole game is not about fighting just about rotating (which is ok), but when it does come to fighting its the most frustrating exprience in the game. Chasing after a little asura whose turrets constantly cc you and put out ridiculous damage for what they are, its not fun nor is it challenging, its simply annoying.
Yes cele engies are harder to play against, but at least they are real people and you can try to beat them by playing better than they do.
It gets really annoying to melee in pug groups. I dont do anything but melee except if im on ele and even then i go into melee range to stack might and to kite the boss. But yeah in unorganized groups where everyone is ranging it can be risky to melee because the boss can change aggro pretty quickly so you have to pay attention. Also on bosses like archdiviner and shaman that have projectiles the stupid guards in pugs will put reflects where it benefits them and not the party….. so you will have little to no support in melee range
At the same time melee is way more fun!

I just watched notriggers solo, the change honestly doesnt look that bad…in a group with a guard mez ele and or thief you can easily chain reflects and even without reflects you have enough dodges with vigor or energy sigils or skills (thief signet) to get through it fine.
But solos on the other hand…thief seems ok, just a little harder, but on other classes i dont think it will be as easy.
