Magic Find is both an account bonus and a character attribute that increases the chance to receive higher-quality loot from slain foes and from structured PvP reward track loot boxes. It does not affect any other containers (including champion loot bags), any chests, or any other source of loot.

Guess they planned the test weeks with the no white swords or so. Apart from that dont hold your breath on new stuff. Maybe a ninja revamp here and there with a tower like thye did with quentin lake.
IF you mean the 99% upgraded bar on towers/keeps, It is going on since the last feature patch.
Ascended token from rank chest instead of a box with stats you cant select. Redeem it at a vendor for a piece of gear/weapon with the stats you want. They are not common things to get in rank chests so it would be nice to select our own stats.

Yep rangers can give commands to their pets even when theyre downed. Just like a thief can port or whatever being downed and eles can use mistform? to get to another position.
Working as intended and if you have troubles with the pet ress, simply put a banner in the rangers kitten .

Giving details about for a suggested change is better than saying “I don’t like it.” If you can say why, and give a proposed fix, that’s very useful to the team.

All the Borderlands maps are the same except for the names of the camps/towers/etc. So it doesn’t matter if you’re red/green/blue you still get the same map. Only Eternal Battlegrounds is different.
They removed the quaggan section a long time ago.
Would be a nice idea to add a RNG to the colour, say 33% chance to get blue/red/green. Colours only affecting EBG but borders are all the same.
Everyone’s been using the white swords as a crutch to aid in defense. In order to counter the white sword defense you either had to drop enough siege to quickly knock down a wall/door before white swords popped, send a “tagger” to pop white swords on the other side of the map, have a “blocking” group to prevent defenders from getting in the keep. All of these required having a much larger attacking force than defenders.
That’s a feature, not a bug. The game rewards coordination and planning, as it should and it should require more attackers than defenders to defeat a defended objective.
There was no way to ninja a keep as a small team because the white swords and the fact that you had to go through two walls/gates meant that you’d get attacked before you could even get to the second wall/gate. So even if you had equal but small numbers on a map you were severely handicapped by the white sword mechanic.
Is that the type of balance you want?
Absolutely. A small group shouldn’t be able to ninja a keep and they should have to be careful and maybe a bit lucky to get a tower. Why do you think a small group should be able to ninja a keep?
The problem with requiring more attackers than defenders is that attackers have to get over a threshold in order to take a tower. Until that time you are left with flipping sentries, camps and killing yaks. So what happens is empty maps stay empty until an organized group decides to show up.
If the game didn’t want a small group to be able to take a keep then it would have required a minimum number of players to be in the circle in order to flip. Currently that number is one. Having that number at one allows for more participation because you can solo a tower or keep.
Anet can compare pre and post white swords to see if more player v player kills happen or if there is less. They could also look at whether there is more flipping of objectives or less. Either way, they can see how this change affects every match and every tier.
Less PvP moar PVD – no need to test that.
Find this thread amusing as hell. These booster are around from launch and i have a good load of them as well lying in my bank. I play wvw for like 2 years now and i think i ran into 1-2 guys so far using these boosters. So i have no idea what people are on about with their “pay2win”. Ofcourse it might create some imbalance but if it was really that good, why dont i see loads of people running around with those boosters?

Hacking? unintended special features you mean. Completely legal as nothing getting done with it and yes, you will get infracted by mentioning this on the forums.
People are already going crazy with changes that have not even been tested. Every single Joe feels that he’s an expert, and he knows exactly what’s going to happen if white swords were to be removed.
In fact, it’s practically impossible to predict how things go. Will it devolve to simple capping like it is in EotM? Or will it actually encourage players to defend objectives?
Of course, most arguments against removing white swords come with the undeniable fact that defending and scouting is neither rewarding, neither fun.
I think that expanding the upgrade system with more different defensive upgrades available including automatic scout devices(eotm observatory kind) and, well, more interactive defences and even stronger NPCs is in place to be if white swords are removed(I’ll remind you that since the game has been launched, we’ve got Ascended Gear, WXP, many other bonuses, new traits, and the player experience has risen greatly – Right now I am fully capable of soloing Keeps and Towers alone in a timespan of 10 minutes including gates(paper keep takes ~9-10 minutes to destroy 2 gates and kill champ with a single golem), even fully upgraded ones. And I do that on T1 server, too.)
The way at look at it is that while removing White Swords by itself may not be the greatest idea(though we have no idea which way it will go), it provides more possibilities and opportunities to WvW, especially with other changes that can come together with this specific change.
I suggest you come out of t1 and see if these ideas will work out. Try to encourage people to defend, im doing that stuff for 2 years now and i can tell, its not easy to get people of the Ktrain to do the same as me. Removing white swords will make defending even harder/boredom fest and u dont need to test to see whats going to happen.
Just my 2 cents from a mid silver server with lack of coverage at times i usualy play. We already lose things even with the white swords so remove those, and its 100% guaranteed flipfest.
They haven’t implemented it yet. They want to test it.

What it’s really showing is that WvW players want to ktrain, and this is giving them the chance to do it in WvW instead of EotM.
Too many commanders have relied upon white swords instead of scouts.
Don’t be surprised if those annoying sentry turrets from EotM make their way into WvW.
So you’re volunteering yourself to sit in a tower, waiting, hoping someone will pass by? That’s “gameplay” that you enjoy?
Don’t forget that tower is paper because at night, when there aren’t even enough people to post one at every tower, they all get papered. Actually this’ll be the case outside of 3 hours on either side of primetime.
So if you wander away even for a few minutes, the zerg inevitably shows up and flips your tower.
Actually, I have done it. I’ve done it enough to know that some of the posters here have never done it. When you’re sitting in a tower and someone taps the gate or damages a wall, a three minute “defend” timer pops up on the screen for everyone in the tower/keep. Thirty seconds later white swords would appear on the map.
It doesn’t take long to check on every wall/gate of a keep to see if you need to call in help. If you use siege disablers you can extend the time even longer, even if it’s paper.
I spent 95% of my wvw time scouting sieging upgrading repairing refreshing etc etc. a thankless job already but now I need to sit in keeps only and not going out to help at other objectives incase of an assault. Or when i dare to run to a camp to throw an upgrade one a zerg might breach through outter before i got back. Its a pain to do already when you lack the people, ofc it shouldnt be that bad for an overstacked server but this change will hurt ALL servers. Think about that.
For the next WvW season how about just don’t have it? They are pointless and harmful to the community. Fix the population imbalance and coverage problems before having another kittening tournament.
They are useful for 1 reason. Money from transfers as its a cliffhanger inbetween living story updates. That time no new items are released on gemstore so lets make some money out of transfers. That simple it is.
Golem mastery and siege might. Dont think you can give golems might etc.

Depending on the yak route, without the whites swords, a zerg can be halfway into the tower without you knowing it. This change FORCES people to sit in a tower. That’s why it is a bad idea.

I disagree; reading that post was something of a relief. They aren’t going to issue a permanent change and completely ignore us – they are trying a multi-week test to see how it works. That’s … reasonable. I still don’t think it will work well, but at least they are willing to do a temporary test first.
While I’ve expressed similar sentiments, the question remains open as to how, exactly, they are going to kitten whether the test was a success or failure and how they’ll determine whether to keep the change or revert it back. How are they going to tell if it’s a success or failure? Are they going to poll? Are the people who don’t like it going to have to boycott WvW to express their displeasure? Are they going to look at scores? By what criteria is a change a failure or success?
There’s no need to measure failure or success if your plan is to declare success regardless of outcome. Easy, right?

And yea testing is a nice thing, but do it with something useful. Rather then this whole terrible idea we all know what is going to happen so testing this , is not needed.

The fact still remains that the forums are a minority of the player-base. And even that minority have constantly been shouting about being allowed to test upcoming changes. Now we are allowed to test upcoming changes and yet people are raging like mad because of it?
Yes we can test this, but we already know the outcome so why bother? Removing swords will lead to more ktrains and those people scouting will simply stop with it. Yes forum are a minority but go and ask around on your server how they think about it. I dont think lot of people will agree with this change.

Wouldnt surprise me either however his compass broken too as he claimed the treb is in the jump puzzle, while the screenshot clearly shows another location – even south of quarry camp.
Anet has no clue about their own game and how people play it. I roam and scout and report 90% of time but dont think i can keep up with that if they remove white swords at all. Its already a pain to rally ppl to a structure under attack with them swords, now imagine it without. Constant flip fest, no one bothers to upgrade/siege anymore resulting in people simply leaving this game.
Might aswell remove walls and gates with the swords if this gets implemented to make it even more easier to flip for the rewards. They think this promotes defensive play, but its the other way around.
It’s fine to be new to the game. But it’s not fine to be dying and helping the other server blob rally. So the way I see it, T1 and T2 should only allow players that are lv80 into WvW, since these are the Elite servers. T3 and under should have no restrictions.

At OP: there will always be kittens around whispering others to say gtfo etc. Simply ignore those and have fun leveling a toon in wvw. However keep in mind you are easy to kill thus a “rally bait”. Use utilities that could help the group out and keep yourself on the background. Have fun.
Why has this been changed and even a better question – Why is this not in the patch updates, its not like you have to write a wall of text on WvW updates.

White swords needs to stay as an indication something is going on. Simple as it has been for the last 2 years and i cant see any valid reason why they want to remove them now.
Or you can just ask “any action”, and join the fight…
Yes white swords exist from the beginning, yet zerging rules WvW.
Taking them away will only create more zergs as no one likes to sit in a tower/keep to await a possible attack. I do it myself many times but also like to leave the structure to grab a camp/upgrade it, run supplies to build sieges speed up dollies. All stuff i cant do without white swords as an attack can occur at any given time.

Outside of primetime, the people I know who scout are the vigilant few who do all the jobs that need to be done when the zerg isn’t around:
- Scouting
- Running around keeping Upgrades going
- Building/refreshing siege
- Calling out sentry/dolyak deaths
- Repairing everything
- Defending camps
- Manning cannons/oils to drive off small groups
- Disabling siege until reinforcements come.
- Running to check on swords (and being able to slip safely through a zerg into a tower to defend it)
They can do this because swords give them a heads up when things need their attention. They can step outside and know when they need to step back in. Human scouts in every objective can call attention when it is attacked but on most servers it isn’t going to happen because it is boring and anti-rewarding. Without swords these vigilant few will either get burnt out or frustrated trying to still do everything… or they will sit in one building and be bored out of their minds.
Then 4-9 months later they will eventually add “rewards” for scouting/defending, but the people scouting today are not likely to still be scouting then.

This all pretty much sums up my concerns of removing them, especially when you are with a handful running over the border outside prime time etc. White swords just give us some information about stuff going on. I scout/roam loads of my wvw time like 95% and with no swords i cannot afford to get 3feet away from a structure scared i would lose it then.
Its just like what, 3% of total world completion? Don’t save this as last bit but hop in every now and then to check if you can reach the missing pois/vistas etc.
Gunnars Hold here. Started on Underworld but moved to gankers hold when season 1 hitted and 90% of WvW’ers left cause of it.
Outnumbered? maybe. Outgunnered nevah.
One other purpose that white swords can serve is a probe or a a distraction. A single player can knock on a door to create white swords to (A) see what the defender response is and (B) to draw defender attention to an objective to draw them away from the real objective. There is a psychological game that can be played with the things that can be seen on the map — white swords, dolyaks, sentry flags, and so on.
Further, white swords also reward disciplined groups that can take out guards, build a bunch of siege weapons, and scrape siege without tagging the gate or walls to draw the swords until the are ready to use catapults or rams en masse to quickly take the walls or gate down once the attack starts. Pick up groups rarely pull this off (someone won’t understand not to hit the gate or will do so by mistake) but disciplined groups with good communication can and do pull this off.
We should adopt a dev to run with us roamers/defenders since they have zero understanding how their own game works. I have quoted a producers reply in this topic saying he/she hasnt played this game mode before the adopt a dev. Says pretty much they dont know about WvW.

I hadn’t played WvW prior to this and it was a super cool experience to run with the guild, learn the ropes, and get their amazing feedback on the game! It’s been a grand time and I look forward to my continued WvW playing.

Im a cook for 12+ years now and it would be very very silly if people asked me what ingredients i use and i shrug “Hm dunno, never cared to look it up”.
Nope, no suggestions, no begging. We should just STOP banging our heads against this wall. I mean who are these guys listening to? Really? No white swords? Whose friggin bright idea was this? Literally, who verbalized it, or put it down on paper. I want their name. I want them FIRED. Immediately! STOP COMING UP WITH HORRIBLE THINGS TO DO TO WvW!

I have no problems with duels at all, i do them myself at times. What i DO mind are ppl whining cause they duel at a sentry and you run in and help/kill the enemy. There are tons of spots no one every comes unless they need the SP/ Poi there. Duel there and no one cares.
Oh, I don’t know. I played on Underworld for quite some time, even after many of the guilds left.
And while true that the same guild might not be able to have one person per tower/keep having one player (doesn’t have to be a guildie) standing in there or at least walking between them shouldn’t really be that hard for any server with some sort of organization.
Have “fun” doing that when for 18h a day you don’t have enough players to have one in each tower/keep (not even talking about camps) unless the ennemy owns more than half of them on Bronze servers…
UW being what it is i even doubt you’ll be able to field that 2h a day while maintaining a decent strike force on 2+ maps….And have even more “fun” finding people that want to :
- forfeit all sort of rewards forever (you don’t get ANYTHING scouting, not karma, wxp, xp, items, badges, NOTHING)
- spend their time running around a keep/tower and spending gold/badges and such sieging/upgrading (there is already at most 4/5 insane people like that on RoS that enjoy doing that, it’s barely enough to upgrade/siege keeps in home bl and EB, rest is “optionnal” and far less sieged, and it’s IF the night/day are relatively calm and things aren’t flipped too often, so on UW let me laugh at that idea…)
- still not able to do anything to stop any capping anyway with the speed it is being done atRemoving those markers is incredibly bad. No idea how any Dev could pick up that idea, unless they are the ones (aka the vast majority) who went on the mindlessly blobbing servers that don’t want fights, but want to ktrain without the ennemy having a single chance to fight back….
Swords, white and orange, needs to be retuned, there needs to be a varying delay depending on the number of assaulters, objectives shouldn’t be taggable by 1/2 people just killing a guard or two at most (more often than not, just dropping 2/3 aa on the gate), but removing them is utterly stupid and proves once again, that devs have no clue about their own game, and what people predicted about the “Adopt a Dev” program (that it would be an uttermost failure with 90% of the devs only sticking to T1/3, and picking the winning blobbing servers in those tiers too…) was spot on.
It’s sad.
And honestly, still don’t get why one of the great things of EotM (the vision/detection sentries) weren’t implemented in one form or another (a new line of upgrades for all towers/keeps with various ranges and duration maybe ? or make it a “buff” to be bought for 1h like siege for like 20/30 supplies in a tower or keep) in WvW.
It would make things far better.
My assumption on adopt a dev is they all joined the blob guilds who started to whine about being killed after a try on tier3 keep as it had white swords on this. Remove these and it will become eotm 2.0 – hell even worse. Esp for the lower populated worlds.
Edit: This will also open up more room for griefers and trolls if they got tired of their useless siege building. “30ppl on inner bay” – stuff like that.

If Anet going to remove the white swords, can you remove the white knighting?
Removing white swords from objectives to give defenders a stronger role in alerting their team as well as giving attackers more of a chance to get through having their siege disabled.

Seriously. As a defender, I don’t need a “stronger role”. The commanders already take me seriously. How about a few rewards for my role? Even I can only scout for so long before I want to go for a run too, but there is no one to take my place.
Exactly. I scout way to much and i dont mind it and i find my roll strong enough. If they really remove white swords what am i supposed to do, doing nothing but checking all gates and walls every ff – ing minute to see if theres probably an attack on it? Come on Anet scout stuff for yourself and see how EXCITING it is right now. And imagine how EXCITING it will be without a notification on the attacked structure.
Allow us to craft superior siege at a craft station. Throw in x amount of mats / siege books and a “craft all” function. Convenience hello!
Might aswell remove structures together with the white swords so attackers dont have any resistance to face. I wonder where they picked this idea up, definitly NOT in the lower tiers. But most changes they made so far are all in the Ktrain’s favor so wouldnt surprise me if they push this idea through.
I would like to adopt a dev to sit in our towers/keeps for hours to scout it out for us and see if its so much fun as they think it is. Would be probably the BIGGEST mistake they can do with WvW but hey whats new.
