Allow players to build way points via siege at a specific area in hills, bay, and garrison so a valid tactic is to build a trebuchet and take out the enemies waypoint. Or don’t…
Introduce another golem called plain strider golem. Only point of it is to lead a zerg by leaving a trail several hundred yards behind it (like 1000 units) that was reasonably wide so any players on the trail get increased movement speed (like 50% so you could still use current methods and not be at a disadvantage). Beyond that, the only other use the thing has is to ‘charge’ at an enemy zerg and knock players down/away in its path. If it colides with any other siege it will destroy it in 1 hit and you can eject safely if you have the trait. So now you have a fast, agile golem that is there to help your zerg move around faster in a WvW world with no waypoints (or at least easy counters to waypoints) and can act as suicide bombers to counter omega golem rushes.
Ok, and what does this have to do with unused wxp rank points? The point of this thread.
Maybe a vendor to redeem unused rankpoints to get goodies you dont get much by playing regular wvw.
My guess is when this living story season ends. As a cliffhanger between them.
Upgraded bay? Screenshot saying 0/500 wich is not upgraded at all. Screenshots do not provide any evidence about the zerg being ported in. So im guessing the OP just seeing ghosts as there is nothing abnormal about any screenshot.

“Kill a Veteran Creature” is on the list today.
Obviously, in our rush for PPT and PPK, we haven’t been killing Henry or the Harpy or Warg often enough.
I have been killing tons of veterans before i found out there was a veteran creature daily still sitting on 0%. Turns out to be a pve achievement in wvw.
Whats next, daily wvw champion killer which will be the spider?
So it’s obvious no one wants to scout a tower/keep until the end of time because lets face it, it’s kitten boring.
Have the best of both worlds, make Crossed swords an upgrade (maybe a T2 upgrade after walls or worker) as this would promote good scouting habits but not suck the fun out of the game, would also get people thinking about lightly sieging a tower/keep before commiting to larger more costly upgrades.
Great idea however it takes way more effort then removing some lines of coding and call it an “event” no one ever asked for.

Removal of white swords surely removed the chance to find a fight in these already unbalanced matchups our server is going through.
Majority of forum users predicted these outcomes and thats why anet still wanted to give it a try in the form of a “test” (stubborn as usual)
On another note, what happend with the promising “Communicating with you” Thread? Cause its all quiet now regarding this exciting test.
Might aswell reconsider this dramatic failure asap to keep some of your players and yes even it is wvw, people buying gems to get your outfits and whatnot.
A red post after 4 weeks be liek:
“The WvW thing was a great success. More people now play PvP. That is why we decided to keep this as a permanent feature. Next “test” will be 6 months long. We will try how WvW will feel without a world map and minimap and no team/map chat. Have fun, lol."
Knowing Anet and their stubborness this would not surprise me at all. Also Anet, how you going to get results from this test? By asking us or your own dedicated wvw playing devs that got trained by your players during last season?

We have had some crazy blowout match ups like the one we have now. Before removal of white swords it was already a pain to find a fight, as of now its completely dead. Even our hardcore stubborn scouts are not willing to put up with this stuff as it was already boring before the whole change.

Thanks for destroying the last bits of fun in this game mode. If you wonder why people are so upset and negative about your company, just think what you are doing to pull that stuff upon yourself. Was already hard to find fights in these unbalanced match ups but this has taken it to another level.

If you solely join WvW just because to get that spoon then yes it can feel like it is taking forever. Counts for all stuff relying on RNG so just play and fool around and at some point you get it.
Just completed daily in less then 5min. As i Always wvw i went to cap a sentry camp and ruin = job done. Now ill wait till next reset to get my laurel.

Once ppl realize passive ppt of holding keeps tower is nothing compared to ppk (points per kill) karma trains will become big targets more then SM making ppl who realty want to win out weeks will split up to track these groups down (all though its not hard to see where they are going even with out swords.) Also if ppl where truly using the swords alone to def then they will see no real differences because they where playing WvW in the most shallow way posable even more so then just simply krama training.
Using white swords as a defending tool is not really the most shallow way to play WvW. Maybe it is for people on tier1 where you have enough folks around to cover the whole map but definitly not on the lower tiers. It will simply make those people not upgrading anymore as it can be flipped without a warning at all.
I suggest you transfer down during this “test” and see how shallow its going to be without the white swords.
It realty is your letting the game play for you. If you just act on the swords your going to be tricked most of the time and the few times its right they are going to be ready for you OR already in because of the 30 sec delay.

Not at all and there is nothing related between the 2. Auto attk is an system that lets YOU set something to go off the game dose not set it for you white swords is something a player has no control over beyond triggering them via attking a door wall or npc near the target.
Ppt hero for lower tiers wvw is a living oxymoron the fact that they are in the lower tiers shows there ppt is not able to handle other worlds making lower tiers simply non populated at all OR less stressed about ppt over all. There a reason why T1 is more about ppt then fights and why you saw a mass movement from t1 back to t2 for the gvg or zerg vs zerg seen.
Idc about PPT anymore, i do care about finding fights in a PvP related zone which has been reduced to 90% cause of no white swords. I am happy it works out for you on your tier1 server but please think outside the box for once and you will find out this change is hurting the smaller servers even more. But afterall its an event that will last 4 weeks so lets see whats going to happen. Also, white swords gave a loads of great fights and maybe its letting the game do the “work” for you, for others its a nice tool to find other people to fight off.

Isn’t it better to actually test out things first? Maybe this time people will actually be truthful when it comes to the feedback (seeing as clearly the ones doing EotM feedback lied according to most people on these forums).
I participated in the closed beta and I can tell you clearly why it failed and was not representative of the WvW population.
1- Server population was practically empty and all there was is unbalanced fighting like (10 v 2 – yes population was this low)
2- No known (reputable) wvw guild participated (i did out of pure curiosity)
3- Most guilds that were invited were PvE centric
4- People were testing stuff like using the bucket (i tried putting a treb up there and it worked, ha! unkillable treb ftw!)
5- Very few fights occured as people were too busy exploring, the provided teamspeak was always empty, you would have everyone running around with a tag up, etc…EotM closed testing was a horrible experience. (With only PvE players testing it, it’s no surprise they are the ones that mainly use that map)
I am pretty sure (and for the first time that I will be defending anet in a long time) they want to avoid what I just said and get a proper test for the changes. They will be able to truly see how it impacts WvW for WvW players.
Edit: To all those that openly refuse to be part of this mass test without giving it a try is why WvW has remained stale for 2 years+ and why all the competitive guilds stopped playing this game out of pure boredom. Now that they finally give WvW some attention and show intent of change and balance, you guys shrug it off… then you will complain they dont ever try anything for wvw…
About the edit part. There are countless of ideas to work on the wvw and also very good ideas. Appearantly its to much work for them so instead they going to remove a line in the coding and hype it up as a Sneak Attack Event no one ever asked for.

Removing white swords promotes all of the worst aspects of WvW: boring tower sitting and PvDoor. Yes, it gives havoc groups a chance of taking structures, but they’ll likely be PvDooring in doing so. On the other hand, if servers want to prevent enemy havoc groups from PvDooring, they need to have scouts tower sit, which is just as bad, if not worse.
All in all, removing white swords discourages fights, especially for roamers, who rely on white swords to see where enemies are or use white swords to draw enemies to themselves.

Yeah I saw that, but still, I haven’t seen anything that actually tells me “yes, we’re here”. This just leads to more and more disappointment in that sense.
A good GM is an invisible GM. If they were running around shouting about being there why would people cheat at that time? If they do not announce their presence people will have to hope that they won’t get caught if they cheat.
Pretty much this. If they showed their presence people wont bother much to use their cheats at that time.

WvW is resistant to change because it is a known game, like chess. You don’t change the rules, the pieces or the board mid-game.
just because you just got here and have no idea what is going on, and it seems confusing to you.

To me its not solely the amount of loot…
The reasons I see are :
1) Fewer overall rewards : Loot you get, gold you amass, materials… All these (apart from WvW-only currency… I mean BoH) can be found elsewhere. Apart from this, upgrading stuff requires much gold, which is hard earned (in WvW).
2) A game of numbers : WvW game is more about numbers. It favors zerg-play which, after a while, becomes more and more boring(same builds, same roles, same approach). Unfortunately nothing was done to actually encourage a different approach to WvW or tune down the zerg effectiveness so people’s focus can shift to something else for a couple of years now.
3) Server numbers : Like #2 wasn’t bad enough already, recently the server populations made it that you rarely get interesting match-ups. Your server either stomps or gets stomped and this is largely due to having a population imbalance in a game where population is what matters most. This drives-off lots off players or force them to migrate to higher tier servers.

I have fun without loot so no idea what this topic is about. Ok loot is not that good as in pve but go play wvw for the fights and not just the drops.
A more realistic undertaking would be offering you a reality check with these outrageous ideas lol.
Achievements are unrealistic just as the hope we have that they will change it.

Those achievements are far away from being realistic. Just remove some zeros so people could actually get 1 or 2.
I think 10+ months ago (unsure as i cba to dig around forum manualy and search still broken after forum reorganisation) Devon Arrowcarter said those achievments are a bit out of touch and they will be looking to change it in the future. (2018?)

Buy stuff in bulks from vendor, if you want to do that its clickclicklickclickclick till u have RSI. Same counts for consumables and bags. (Funny enough when u select destroy it does delete the whole stack in once)

I only whisper someone if they start in spamming emotes. Otherwise, I’m too busy WP’ing back into battle.
One of the first things i do when joining a pvp based game:
Disable emotes.
Phew saves a lot of unessecary bullkitten filling my chat channel.
If only they disabled to whisper someone you have blocked it would be nice. Had some tools in the past raging at me in whisper while all i get to see was “this person has blocked you” when i tried to reply to them
I thought you can’t see player’s names in WvW? How can they whisper you?
Put them on block, go to that list and right click name and you have an option to whisper.
Curious, what are you needing to click on? Keyboard shortcuts are so easy to configure, I rarely click on anything.
And I’ve heard this complaint in other games, but never understood – is it a lack of hand-eye coordination? Do you really need to ‘see’ your mouse pointer in order to click on something?
I click on enemies to target them mostly as the Tab targetting doesnt work great for that purpose.
So yeah they want us to test this. How is Anet going to get the test results, poll on this forum or ingame?

All I saw was one mesmer and one thief attacking a full bunker Warrior who had the aid of all the guards to kill them, then he was fighting a single mesmer, then he run scared back to the guards for help… Where are the 10 people the OP claims? are they all invisible?

If that’s how duels work in WvW then I won’t duel there, I prefer custom arenas. I guess some players that lack skill, use food and gem store buffs to have an advantage
